I love looking through Wookieepedia bc sometimes I’ll find shit like “Zeb’s grandmother survived the fall of Lasan!” And I’ll be like WHAT and turns out it’s from the novelization of the dubiously-canon prequel shorts that says nothing else on the subject

An angsty little idea...

Zeb had a younger sister who died on Lasan. That's an old grief now, all wrapped up along with everything else from Lasan. It's always bittersweet when Sabine reminds him of her: it aches, but at the same time it's like in a way, she's not truly gone. Not completely.

Then one day Sabine and Kallus have a mission together, just the two of them, and it goes wrong. Sabine gets hurt — badly.

Zeb is furious. He won't even speak to Kallus. It's not even Kallus' fault, he knows that, but he's worried sick about Sabine and it's bringing up all this old pain and he can't cope, so he's taking it out on the easiest target.

Part of him knows how illogical it is, that he can forgive Kallus his active part in the damn genocide that took his first baby sister away from him but can't deal with even the possibility of losing Sabine on Kallus' watch — but that dissonance only serves to make him angrier all round, angry all over again about Lasan as well, and he sure lets Kallus know it.

(Of course, Kallus himself is already feeling absolutely awful about what happened anyway, even if Zeb wasn't lashing out at him at every turn...)

It's only when Sabine is fully recovered and talks some damn sense into Zeb herself that he's able to even consider rekindling the friendship he had with Kallus, let alone anything more it might have been building towards before.

Ezra's job is very important

Hera: Kanan and I are out. Does everyone know their job for today? Sabine: Repair Chopper. Zeb: Vacuum the Phantom. Kallus: Wash the dishes. Ezra: Pretend to be a Jabba the hutt. Hera: Close enough.

Zeb would be mad about Leia breaking his record, but Kallus showed up after the events portrayed in “Zero Hour” with a singular errant lock of hair out of place, a black eye, and the energy of a man who just successfully walked off a life-or-death battlefield . . . and Zeb has been distracted ever since.

Congrats to Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios for having the sheer audacity. Had a single life or death encounter with the enemy, proceeded to decide that was His Man, gave him exactly one (1) talking to about the dangers of fascism, and then promptly fucked off. Kallus is going to work everyday and having a full blown moral crisis meanwhile Zeb is hanging out and listening to his boombox. Most "if he knows what's good for him he'll fix himself." type nonsense. The swagger. The confidence. I could never.

And the best part of all of this is that it's going to work. He's going to snag the coveted award for Most Hands Off Man Rehabilitation since Leia Organa domesticated her husband.

Thinking about that trope of Zeb and Kallus kissing to avoid getting spotted by imps BUT Kallus gets a bit too excited about it and Zeb makes it all worse by trying to crack jokes to make it less awkward

Has anyone ever thought about how one of the first things Kallus sees Zeb do is abandon Ezra? Then the next time he sees Zeb he singles him out and challenges him to a duel like the unhinged man he was? With extreme prejudice?

And this is after Ezra was like "they wont come to rescue me. Ppl dont do that" and Kallus was like... "Ahhh... i cant give you too much assurance of the opposite but I can comfo- uh.... brush your shoulder and leave?" And doesnt see how the troopers tough Ezra up.

And it's Ezra that saves Zeb from Kallus. This is the weirdest custody battle ever.

For the people who wont see the reblog, I just want to point this out. This is what my sleep-deprived, sneezy delirious self wanted to say but couldnt even get out cuz I kept losing my train of thought. It's a miracle this posts even exists.
