I need this woman to become best friends with me. Her aura is both loving yet mildly threatening and something about that makes me burst with love.

I don't think we can talk about how gross it is that channel 4 is focussing on bakers being unwell and leaving the competition early and fainting mid-show without talking about COVID.
Like I know the style of the show has changed in recent years, with more focus on the drama (RIP Mel and Sue you would never have let this happen) but it is not normal for people to be ill like this.
Bakeoff is filmed in the summer, when seasonal illnesses are usually lower. We used to rarely get someone off for a week but that was it. However, COVID isn't seasonal. For the last few seasons since 2020 this has been very common; contestants and hosts off regularly during the season.
COVID was surging over the summer. I do not believe these things are unrelated.

One of them is going insane about my chemical romance
One of them is playing your best American girl by mitski on repeat
And the other is thinking about banoffee pies and the paul hollywood hate squad

Why does it feel like Paul always wants the bakers to fail? Like it gives him some sort of sick satisfaction

Bake off 2024 Bread week!
- it’s here the week that often devine’s how contestants do for the rest of the season
- can’t beat Alice and Noel puns
- theses chalanges look like some classics
- THATS ALOT OF GOCHJANG DYLAN
- for those who are unacquainted cooking is art, baking is science and bread is luck, if the environment isn’t right it won’t work, my uni flat is great for proving bread but my home is terrible
- these flavours all sound amazing
- Nelly scares me a bit
- the tent has a notoriously iffy climate to adjust for with baking
- I love Noel, I want to meet him… I also want to steal his clothes
- the first Paul pat
- come on girl avoid the curse
- Paul will always be hyper critical during break week
- LETS GOOO DYLAN !!!! Achieve your dreams!!
- I’m suprised Paul hasn’t had gochujang but thinking back to his Japan show not really, he was so unadventurous and close minded with a lot of the new flavours
- oooh a demo in technical that’s new
-this is just a fishtail braid
- Oooh that would be good with a bowl of dip in the middle
- with kneading it’s all about texture and feeling the change
- smart Dylan practicing with the cling film
- also messing up with the plait causes overworking the dough and will cause issues with the rise
- none of them made it long enough
- Andy had a mare but pulled it back expertly
- oh Dylan my love
- have we had a cornucopia bread show stopper before? Someone might have made a cornucopia for a showstopper but it wasn’t the stict brief
- time for some spacemangment
- all I can think is hunger games with the cornucopia
- you get such a sense of people through there bakes
- Dylan please Marry me (/jk)
- I love seeing the relationships and dynamic build between contestants and the hosts
- why would you make bagels mate, I know you make them a lot but the tent isn’t the best for those kind of bakes
- come on guys
- these are all so stunning
- love the stylisation of the Devon cornucopia
- Dylan’s presentation is amazing
-Andy my man, you cursed yourself with the hats
- WELL DESERVED DYLAN!!
- I’m not suprised johns gone
- now the classic opening 3 are done we enter the Wild West of weeks
-FUCKING CARAMEL WEEK!!!! YALL ARE FUCKED WITH THE HUMIDITY

You know what? No.
There's something about this season that I thought at the start but writ off as a conspiracy theory. After the latest episode, and the pure rage I feel?
Nope. It's gotta be true.
The Great British Bake Off is trying to get another scandal so people will talk about it's episodes.
GBBO as a series has always been one of emotions. Joy, fear when you're favourite is in danger and sadness when they leave, but mostly warm fuzzy feelings.
Twice this season at least I and several others have been left feeling enraged and injustice at what occurs in the tent. From Abbi leaving when Dan served RAW, CARDBOARD LIKE DOUGH, to this weeks departure.
Remember: one of the big things they hyped up in the Episode 2 teaser was biscuitgate, which turned out to not be a big deal - they swapped back and it was fine. Abbi would leave the next episode despite the injustice mentioned above. Tasha would then fall ill a couple episodes later - I do not believe this was planned and genuinely believe the conditions in the tent were so appalling that they let her get to that state. That alone sickens me.
And then you have puddinggate this week. Everyone has been crying for weeks that the technicals needed more time, and this week is just the climax of it. Raw pudding that the judges refuse to eat, and will refuse to fix for next week and beyond.
You know what I predict?
The finale will occur. And the winner will be someone nobody expected, because someone else will do really well in the finale and make it seem like they'll win -
only for someone else to.
That way, people will talk about the show. Because it's no secret that less people are watching and reviews are dropping. But scandals? Scandals are publicity. Make the show seem interesting. Make it seem more marketable to those who watch reality TV like Love Island, I guess.
And sure, typing this out now, it still seems like a conspiracy theory. That I'm being silly and that it's just a baking show, so why should I care?
Because I've loved this show for years. When it's good, it's really good! It's known for being wholesome, and showing how good the British public can be during a time when you absolutely hate them (which is... all the time when you're Cornish and hate tourism) as the bakers help eachother out.
But you don't get that anymore. It's soulless.
And like Paul Hollywood himself would say:
"It lacks direction."

Love that Christiaan has just flawlessly cracked out a bunch of stroopwaffels with 0 drama when it was a whole technical challenge a few yrs ago that sent some people into absolute breakdowns.
