"get off me" pairing: matt rempe x fem!reader

you're sprawled out on the couch, phone in hand, scrolling aimlessly through tiktok.

you hear footsteps approaching but you don’t bother to look up.

a moment later and without warning, matt lays down on top of you.

“get off me,” you groan, pushing at his shoulders with one hand while trying to keep hold of your phone with the other.

“i’m trying to love you!” he declares, his voice muffled as he buries his face in your neck. his breath tickles, and you squirm beneath him, trying to wiggle free.

“matt, seriously,” you protest, but there’s no real annoyance in your tone. it’s hard to be mad or annoyed when it comes to him being clingy with you.

after a few more attempts to get him to move, you give up and let your hands fall to your sides.

matt shifts slightly, adjusting so he’s lying more comfortably.

your phone is forgotten now, the screen going dark as you let it slip from your fingers. your arms find their way around him, one hand idly playing with his hair.

"I could listen to your heartbeat forever." matt murmurs.

soft thoughts with rempe. i feel like hes the pouty type for some reason so imagine you get up before him one morning and he walks out into the kitchen or wherever you are with his hood up and his hair pretty much covering his face and he's all pouty because you weren't next to him when he woke up.

it's early—too early, really—but after tossing and turning for what feels like hours, you decide to stop fighting it. you slowly get up and slip out of the bedroom. you walk into the living room, wrapping yourself in a blanket and settling onto the couch.

about forty-five minutes pass and you're scrolling absentmindedly on your phone.

"you left me."

you look over and matt is pouting in the doorway, his hood is pulled over his head and his hair is pretty much covering his face.

"when did you wake up?" he asks.

"around 6:00," you answer, setting your phone down. "i couldn’t fall back asleep, and i didn’t want to wake you."

he doesn’t say anything at first, just shuffles over and lifts up the blanket, dropping down onto the couch next to you. or, more accurately, on top of you. his head finds its usual spot against your chest, and his arms snake around your waist as he burrows into the blanket you're under.

"you could’ve just stayed," he murmurs, his words muffled against the blanket.

"you looked too peaceful."

"i was peaceful because you were there. i sleep the best when you are next to me."

"oh yeah?"

he nods, his arms tightening a little around your waist. "yeah. so... next time, don’t leave me."

you laugh softly, shaking your head, but the smile doesn’t leave your face. "i think i can manage that."

and with that, the two of you drift back to sleep.
