4. One of our muses has just lost their job

There were not enough curses in the entire world to show how angry Oscar was feeling. Out of all the things that could happen, he was fired from The World, and was now without a job.

Morris hadn't been fired, probably so there was someone to keep everything under control, but Oscar had no idea what to do. He needed money for rent and food, but it wasn't like there were plenty of jobs there for him. He gave up walking and leaned against the wall of a store, face buried into his hands.

"Books, is that... he's it?" Clara asked, excited. "Oh, g-gosh, Books, can I help you? Lemme know what you need!!"

Books smiled tiredly at Clara. "Well, right about now I'd really like a 10-hour nap," she replied, the happy grin still plastered on her face as she held Daniel--her son, could you believe it?--in her arms. "I don't think ya can get me that, though."

Oscar looked up to Clara and smiled brightly, finishing the song with a flourish of his hand. He wasn't very good at playing the piano, but he'd been able to stumble through a song, so in his book he was good as gold. It was the first song he had learned that wasn't a song you learn in pre-k, so he was happy.
