for like, the past week i've been drawing this idea i came up with but i just give up on trying to fix it any more lmao. but its kenai protecting baby so.. *chucks this towards you*

+ headcanon/explanation of it under break

so i have a headcanon that although koda is considered his little brother, kenai would have these strong "parental instincts" towards him, and these instincts mostly came from the fact that bears are EXTREMELY protective of their cubs (it's mainly the females that are, but technically in this case since he's raising a cub now, i guess he'd just act like how any sow would with her cub at times)

and from this hc i thought of the idea that whenever kenai and koda are sleeping, kenai may be asleep, but in a way he’s still aware of his surroundings to detect danger nearby. i think there's a name for it but i completely forgot what it's called

basically, kenai could just be deep deep asleep and the second he hears or senses something from outside their den, he would IMMEDIATELY shoot up and go into automatic defense mode, and just guards or shields koda from any potential threat he thinks there is. and 99% of the time it’s just a critter walking outside or sounds of nature lol
