jayvik epigraph I
You held to me like a lung to breath We collided head first Our lips never met but merged and though I've never kissed you I have tasted an eternity inside you with no moment wasted just once. (until air came between us)
aaand the song this made me think of, which might fit the longing vibe in these flashbacks? hm

@dearbluetravelers tagged me in this absolutely ages ago, and I just realized I never finished it, because when do I ever finish things in a reasonable amount of time? But, better late than never, I suppose. Anywho, thanks for the tag!
+Where do you publish your work?
Ao3 mostly, though sometimes I’ll post stuff here too. Especially if I wrote it off a prompt.
+What medium/application/etc.?
Google docs/drive. My laptop actually broke months ago so anytime I need a computer I’ve been borrowing my boyfriend’s, and I don’t want to clog up his files with my mountains of WIPs. Plus, docs makes it easier to share with friends and get their thoughts on things.
+Do you collaborate with others?
I do, but not in like, an intentional way. I’ll start talking to friends cough @typehere452 cough about headcanons and fic ideas, and next thing we know there’s a fic’s worth of content in the chat logs that just needs a little editing.
+How much editing do you do before you publish?
It really depends on what style I’m writing in. Usually it’s barely any, just enough to catch typos, grammar stuff, and tense switches, but if I’m writing in 3rd person I’ve taken to going through and making sure that I’m actually talking about the characters’ thoughts and feelings, rather than exclusively writing dialogue and bland action descriptions. That’s one of the reasons I like 1st person so much, actually. It makes that introspective stuff flow much more naturally for me.
+Do you listen to music?
Not usually. If I listen to any while writing, it’s pretty much exclusively instrumental, because I can’t hear words while thinking of and type other words at the same time. However, if I get stuck or need some inspiration, I’ll definitely start out by listening to a song or playlist that I think captures the mood, or take a break to listen for a bit before coming back.
+How do you decide what to write about?
Um, generally it’s a mix of inspiration just randomly striking me, prompts, and stuff that’s hinted at in a show that I want to know more about or explore more. Usually I write about ships, because 1. I just like them and find them engaging and enjoyable and when it comes to my fiction I’m a hopeless romantic, and 2. I find them academically interesting and I love exploring the ways people interact with each other, especially in that context. I do a lot of hurt/comfort, because frankly it comes easiest to me, and a decent amount of fluff, because the world is kind of shit right now, and I want to see my faves being happy.
+When do you write?
It used to primarily be when I had another thing to write and didn’t want to, so I procrastinated by writing things I did want to instead. But, now that I’ve graduated and don’t have papers to write, it’s usually just when inspiration strikes and I get a good idea, or when I’m really bored and have nothing else to do, so I figure I might as well try to hammer away at one of my WIPs.
+How often do you write?
It’s super variable. I’d love to be one of those people that writes every day, but I’m not there yet. I talk headcanons and bounce around ideas with people most days, but as for like, actually intentionally writing a fic, anywhere between a few times a week to once or twice a month.
+Do you take requests?
I do indeed! I love getting prompts and requests, but I am also terrible at finishing things quickly, so fair warning there.
+Is there a genre or type of story you want to write but are hesitant to?
I really, really want to write a long-form story. Like, something with multiple chapters and an actual plot, rather than a one-shot. The problem is, my brain thinks in scenes and at the level of individual moments and characters, rather than in big, overarching plots, so I’ve never been able to manage it. Along those lines, I would absolutely love to write a proper mystery story one day, but we’ll see if that ever actually happens.
+Any inspirational quotes, videos, tricks, articles, etc that help you stay motivated?
No specific quotes, but just the general idea of write what you want to write. It’s so easy to get caught up in wondering if people will like it, or say it’s dumb or obviously self-indulgent or whatever. So I’m trying to own it. Like, yes, this fic is entirely self-indulgent. That’s why I wrote it. Because it was something I wanted to read. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Along similar lines, trying to remember that people aren’t usually judging me anywhere nearly as harshly as I judge myself. Especially when it comes to things like exploring topics or aus that people have already written stuff for. I personally love seeing different people’s interpretations of the same idea, but it’s super difficult to fight back that voice in my head saying “So-an-so did it waaaay better. Everyone’s just gonna think you’re ripping off thier idea.” It’s something that I still struggle with a lot, so trying to keep in mine my reactions to those same situations from the other side is important.
As for tricks, my biggest one is probably just when I start to hate something I’ve written and think it’s boring and awful, I close out of it, and don’t look at it until at least the next day, if not longer. Usually after that break it will look a lot better, because I haven’t been reading it over and over and over for several hours.
+Go to page 7 of your WIP, skip to the 7th line, and share 7 sentences:
I have so damn many WIPs, so I just picked the first one that I knew was longer than 7 pages. lol
After a long silence, Peter speaks again. “If you don’t want to talk about it right now, that’s fine. Any of it. The hotel, last night… I want you to take your time. But I did mean what I said. If you’re in trouble, I want to help.” After a moment with no response, Peter takes a breath, steels himself, and scoots closer on the couch, putting a hand on Juno’s knee. “I’m here for you. In whatever capacity you want me.”
Alright, let’s tag @gaiyok, @justasmalltownai, @typehere452, and @wendy-comet
