A Simple Chart Showing Google’s Enormous Transformation

Here’s a great chart about the “new” Google. Or now known as Alphabet.

Calico is a company that’s trying to discover immortality. Hopefully you had to read that sentence twice. Fiber is Google’s attempt to bring high speed Internet to the entire country. Then there’s Google X. That’s where a lot of secret and “moonshot” projects happen. Like Google Loon or Google Glass.

The lesson behind all of this is one really simple thing. Google is a conglomerate. It’s not just a web service anymore. Youtube is massive and Google.com is even larger. But that’s no longer the center focus.

Some people have referred to Google as this generation’s AT&T. Or this generation’s General Electric. Jack Welch was the man behind GE Capital, for example. Alphabet suddenly has Google Ventures AND Google Capital.

Google disappeared, only Alphabet

After the stock market closed the trading session October 2 (US time), but we knew Google would disappear.

After the stock market closed the trading session October 2 (US time), the name Google Inc. which we knew would completely disappear. According to the latest statement, Google will merge with its parent company total shares traded under the name Alphabet of Alphabet.

However, the company will still exist and Google Sundar Pichai will remain CEO of the company, under the management of the parent company Alphabet and Larry Page. Hence, for ordinary users, the restructuring will not affect too much.

We will still be able to use the service’s previous search engine Google as Gmail or Google Maps. And even if you own Google stock, the valuation of the transaction and still nothing changed.

However, restructuring and mergers will cause major changes in the company’s internal. That was much earlier project by holding and managing Google likely will be separated, as the Android OS or Google Glass project …

We’ll wait and see the search giant will have to change how after restructuring.

GoogleがAlphabetの傘下になることで、メインストリームの事業は切り離されるものの、Googleのビジネスは現在のままに限定されるわけではなく、今後もインターネットと情報の分野でイノベーションと新しいサービス、製品を提供してゆく予定みたいです。 逆にGoogleから切り離されAlphabet 傘下の子会社となるのは、先端技術研究部門の X Labs (元 Google X)、ドローンによる物流を事業化する Wing、血糖レベルを検出するコンタクトレンズなど健康・医療事業の Life Science、Calico、投資事業の Ventures、Capital など…

さまざまな事業会社の集合という位置付けになりますが、コンシューマー向け製品ブランドとしてAlphabetを使うことはない予定だとしています。

しかしこの動きは注視すべき問題ですね…
