đČ pines family headcanons âš click the read more for more in-depth headcanon stuff!
this started out as a little silly edit of ford, then i decided to do one for stan as well and once that happened i knew i had to do edits for the pines twins as well. i might end up doing others like soos, wendy and pacifica but for now we have the main four pines.
đČ dipper has glasses but prefers not to wear them. he thinks they look nerdy but wears them more often with the support of mabel and his grunkles. đČ bisexual disaster. đČ dipper will always be a transboy in my head. struggled with gaining acceptance from his parents but knows he always has a place where he can be himself in gravity falls. đČ CW SELF HARM IMPLIED: his dysphoria and dissociation from his body ends up worse for a while after sock opera. for a while turns to⊠not so great methods to remind himself that his body is his own. đČ became clingy after weirdmageddon, either clinging to his sister and grunkles before going back to piedmont or just staying by mabel's side often after. đČ probably has pierced ears but would wear very subtle earrings, to mabel's displeasure.
đ big decora kei vibes. so many stickers and hair pins. she also will often wear mismatched socks! đ is the one to suggest she and dipper get a matching hair streak. blue was the only color dipper would agree to. đ mabel gives me big pansexual vibes. starts to discover her own identity around the time dipper does, and ends up dating candy and/or grenda for a hot minute. đ wholly supported dipper when he came out as a transboy and was his biggest ally growing up. đ after weirdmageddon she asks ford for drawing lessons. the two bond over arts and crafts. đ CW MILD ED suffers from a sort of survivor's guilt after weirdmageddon, guilt over being tricked by bill and almost staying in mabeland manifesting mostly in the form of being a people pleaser, forgetting to eat and sleep. the other pines thankfully notice this and put a stop to it.
đŁ i love long haired stan. i like to imagine after the series the guy feels comfortable enough to grow his hair out again. đŁ stretched earlobes! đŁ is a transman and also gnc as hell. he also is insanely good at using makeup. (dipper and ford don't really use makeup and mabel just likes to be Silly with makeup.) đŁ (tbh i can also imagine stanley as being transfeminine as well, they're just That Gender.) đŁ as soon as mabel saw his "glorious mane" she was practically begging him to let her braid it. he pretends to just go along with it for her sake but he secretly loves having her do his hair. đŁ the adhd to ford's autism. he definitely suffers hard from rejection sensitive dysphoria and tends to panic if it seems like someone is upset with him. (i.e. ford confronting him over the broken machine, mabel upset with him for lying in the land before swine.)
â his sweater is a huge comfort for him. in general he likes heavier clothes to ground him. â i like to imagine him with plenty of earrings and tattoos. earrings mainly themed around space and stars and ends up getting some tattos on his wrists to cover the burn scars from weirdmageddon. â a touch of the tism. has a hard time distinguishing tone. (i.e. not being able to tell if wendy was complimenting him ironically or not.) â while he doesn't mind if people see him as a man, he himself doesn't feel all that attached to the idea of being male. fine with any pronouns but probably likes to use neopronouns. (maybe star/starself?) â achillean, mainly attracted to enbies and men. tried to date a few girls growing up to try and be "normal" (comphet's a binch) but at around high school enough bad experiences made him avoid dating for a while. â he loves loves loves space and astronomy! it's sort of his hyperfixation. used to name constellations with stanley while spending nights on the stan o war and they bond over this on the stan o war ii!

ford that has wires hanging from the back of his skull that he fiddles with sometimes, and no one knows where they came from
ford that has metal claws because he asked fiddleford if he would pretty please do that for him please and fiddleford said yes of course my dear friend
ford that mimics mabel more than anyone else he knows, to the point that heâs started meowing to himself aboard the stan o war ii
ford that crashes all of stanâs attempts to flirt with people (accidentally or intentionally? heâll never tellâŠ)
stan that sometimes wakes up to ford screaming and sobbing, curled up on the floor as he writhes around and tries desperately but fruitlessly to block out the everything. stan that comforts him until he feels okay
stan that has been covered in so much glitter over the summer that it takes a year for it to all wash off
stan that gets a tattoo of a fun goofy star to match ford and, as much as he denies, try to help his brother feel less bad about it via taking some of the attention himself
stan that loves the taste of nearly every shade of purple, but you didnât hear that from him
stan twins that spend hours at a time just watching crabs scuttle across the beaches
stan twins that constantly vocal stim together
stan twins that, after living on the stan o war ii, embrace the fact that they sometimes have skills the other doesnât and start teaching each other those skills to bond (stan teaching ford who to cook, ford giving stan art lessons, etc.)
stan twins that always try to keep each other as comfortable and happy as possible, and are comfortable and happy as a result of them trying
stan twins that show off their scars to each other because stan started it to make ford feel better and realized he gained a more positive association with his own scars too and now they do it more often
mabel that used to role play warrior cats. nowadays, sheâs created her own fictional creatures to role play with candy and grenda
mabel that petsits lazy susanâs cats every now and then
mabel that likes to use the power of ford to get places faster (sits on his shoulders as he sprints wherever she asks him to. she does use this power for âevilâ from time to time)
mabel that sewed a secret patch on dipperâs vest after it was torn by the pterosaur tooth. he doesnât find it until a year later when heâs having an especially hard day. itâs a large heart with a bunch of smaller hearts all around it. thereâs hand-sewn lettering reading âi love you, donât give up!â dipper cries and goes to find mabel so he can crush her in a hug
gravity falls thatâs always comfortable and always safe for the pines family to be anywhere in ever since weirdmaggedon

Gravity Falls: The Kids Are All Right Ch 2 Ran Not Away
At A Large Creek About Two Miles From The Mystery Shack           Â
Gravity Falls, ORÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Friday May 30th, 2031 Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Flashback Approximately An Hour And A Half Ago
Terrance âRanâ Pines was vigorously going through the mental checklist he had made of all the pointers his mom had taught him on how to remain calm, cool, and collected in stressful situations. But really she never taught him how to do it in this type of situation.
âAre you sure you set your clothes down over here?â He called back over his shoulder as he looked through a bush for the missing items. He really didnât know how he got into this predicament, he had came into the woods trying to find a replacement butterfly for his sister, not to stumble across a girl who had been swimming in just her underwear and apparently lost her clothes.
âYeah, right next to that rock there.â A voice came from behind him as a slender arm pointed just to the left of where he was looking. âThank you for letting me borrow your shirt.â
He was glad he had worn on of his baggier Hawaiian shirts today. When she had told him what had happened he had graciously taken it of and left it by the creek bank as he turned and began looking for her clothes while she had put on his shirt.
âItâs no problem. Iâm sure weâll find your clothes soon.â He said as he did his best to keep from staring at her. His parents raised him to be respectful so it was probably easier for him than most guys. âThe names Ran by the way.â   Â
âIâm Meaghan,â she said as she offered her hand.
âAlright Meaghan,â Ran said as he shook her hand, âletâs get back to looking. If we canât find themâŠâ
âWe have to find them. I canât go back to my family without them.â she said as she crumbled to the ground.
âOh, if we canât find them Iâm sure they wouldnât mind you getting something from the Shack. And then we can call your parents.â Ran said as he finally turned around. Seeing the state she was in he went over tried placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
âNo! No! No! That wonât work.â she started screaming before she broke down crying, âI need my clothes, I canât go back to my family without them.â
Pulling her into a gentle hug  âOk, Iâll keep looking. What color where they again?â
âSteel grey, like my hair.â She replied as she pulled her braid around to the front and ran it through her fingers nervously.
Ran would have sworn her hair was black, but now that he was closer it seems to have been a combo of the wetness of her hair and the lighting that made it look that way. âAnd what about your shoes?â
âI, uhmm, didnât wear any.â Meaghan said as she subconsciously pulled her feet up under her.
Realizing that he was possibly making her nervous by being so close he got up and started searching again, this time out past the bush and rock  where she had said she had left her clothes. It was while he was doing this that it struck him, they were at least a couple miles from civilization and most of that was paths that would be harsh on bare feet.
 Mystery Shack
Present Time
âHey Debbie, whereâs your brother?â Dipper asked his daughter after he realized that though Antonio was  here, he didnât see Ran anywhere.
âIâm not sure dad. We got into a fight earlier and he ran off.â Debbie said in a muffled tona as she hugged her dad close and trying to hold back tears, âI thought he would be back by now. Iâm scared dad.â
âHe went into the woods, Mr. Pines. I thought it would be best if I calmed Debbie down while he maybe tried to catch her a new butterfly or something.â Antonio said shaking his head. Â
âThanks Antonio,â Dipper said as he hugged his daughter, âItâs ok sweetheart. Remember heâs not only a Pines, heâs a Corduroy too. And these woods have been protecting the Corduroys for as long as theyâve been living with them. Let me call your mother and then weâll go find him.â Â
He held on to Debbie with one arm as he pulled out his phone with the other.
Soos and Melody joined them in the Gift Shop. Soos held a small phone in his hand, âHe left in such a rush he forgot his phone. Sorry bro.â
âItâs ok Soos, he knows this area of the woods pretty good. And most of the woods know him.â Dipper said as he dialed his wifeâs number. After she answered he said, âHey honey, Ranâs been out in the woods for a couple of hours. Yeah, a fight with Debbie. Uh huh, sure. Alright weâll be here.â
Dipper hung up his phone. He looked at Debbie and wiped a tear from her face, before turning his attention to the rest of those gathered. âWendy just finished up reporting to the Mayor. She should be here in a couple of minutes. Luckily we have a plan for if any of the kids get lost in the woods.â
Melody said under her breath, âOf course youâd have a plan for something like this.â
Across Town At The Mayorâs Office
Wendy hangs up her phone and turns back to the person sitting behind the desk, âWell that was Dipper, one of the kids may be lost in the woods I gotta get moving.â
âWell which of my grandkids is in trouble this time?â the mayor said from the recesses of his too large for him chair.
âItâs Ran. And just how did you know it was one of my kids?â Wendy asked with a smirk.
âBecause it was someone elseâs you would have complained about âwhy parents in this town donât teach their kids to respect the woods!â instead of âone of the kidsâ. And you would have mentioned it if it was one of your friendsâ kids.â The mayor said with a knowing smile she really remembers seeing the first time back we she told him that she and Dipper had started dating. âSo why are you still standing here, youâve got a missing son. Go git em!â Â
As she left the office, she stuck her head into the office of the townâs social media and tourism specialist. âHey Tambers, thought Iâd stop by to tell that dinner plans may have to be put on hold.â
âShoot, I was looking forward to seeing you guys this evening. What emergency did the boss come up with this time? Did someone file a noise complaint against Multibear again or something?â the magenta haired social media expert asked her oldest friend with a chuckle, remembering how the last complaint actually had come from a group of fairies who were upset that he had ate from their favorite berry bush and so they enchanted a pair of hikers to file the complaint.  Â
âNah, this one is personal. Ran went into the woods by the Shack earlier and hasnât came out yet. Iâm heading there now to start the search party.â Wendy said as she shook her head.
âYou want me to text Stacey to go help you? I mean she should be back from taking lil Genie to the mall.â Tambry asked with her phone appearing in her hand almost faster than Wendy could see.
Wendy waved off the offer saying, âNah, I can track better if Iâm not having to worry about someone elseâs kid. Besides, Iâll have Dipper.â
At that Tambry stopped short of sending out the text to her daughter she had started writing. âYeah, I could  see how that would be problem some. Though I was gonna send her to watch Debbie for you guys.â Â
âNah, thanks though. Soos, Melody, and Antonio are there. They can keep an eye on Debbie.â Wendy said as she started to leave. Before she shut the door she stuck her head back in and said, âIâll call if things change.â
 At The Arcade
âOk, youâre going down this time Chiu.â Ed called as he furiously pounded a set of buttons while rotating the control stick in front of him.
âYeah right, Iâve beat you every time we've played this game.â Ginger responded as she carefully tapped the buttons needed to counter attack his character.
From across the arcade you could hear Ricky complain, âGrenda, thatâs not how you play Dancy Pants Revolution Retro and you know it!â
âWhat do you mean, I am gaining points arenât I?â Gingerâs step brother said as he was seemingly using waltz movements to score points.
âI guess.â Ricky said throwing his hands up. âHey, Iâm gonna go check on Ed and your sister. Iâll be right back.â
"No problem, Iâll still be here racking up points.â Grenda II said as he stopped waltzing and began playing the game earnestly.
Ricky crossed the arcade and over to the Fight Fighters V game his brother and friend were playing. As he got over he saw that Ed was playing Beastor like usual while Ginger was playing Mi-Cha McSkirmish, a new character that is Rumbleâs illegitimate daughter from South Korea. With her fondness for K-pop and whatnot, this didnât surprise him. But reminded him of the fact that Uncle Dipper had told them not to mention it around the old Fight Fighters cabinet he has down in his basement game room. He knows the town has its eccentricities but thatâs weird even for it.   Â
âYou winning bro?â he asked even though he could tell from here that Ginger had the upper hand.
âNo, sheâs sweeping the floor with me.â Ed responded as he again began rapidly pounding buttons.
âDonât you mean that sheâs âmopping the floorâ with you?â his brother asked.
At that point Ginger had her character preform a leg sweep that koâd  Edâs. Ed turned back towards his brother, âNope, I meant sweeping.â
Suddenly a voice was carried from across the arcade near where Ricky left Grenda, âOh look guys, itâs Little Lord Fancypants. You decide to come slum it with us common folks, Fancypants?â Â
âI think he might not have heard you, Alec. Maybe we should see if he need physical stimuli.â Another voice said before the sound of a body hitting the floor could be heard.
As the friends started rushing towards Grenda they heard âLook I wonder if he even speaks American, donât they speak something different over in Australia where heâs from?â
As they turn the round the last game they see Alec Roberts, the worse bully at Archibald Corduroy Junior High, and his cronies, Danny King, & Max Brown, standing over Grenda with Alec actually having his foot on his chest. Alec looked down at Grenda and said, âTell you what Fancypants, weâll let you go back to your game for a small fee. Say five dollars for each of us.â
âHey jerkface, what are you doing to my friend?â Ricky yelled before he ran and tackled Alec.
He had no sooner had he plowed through the bully, then Ginger got down beside her brother making sure he was ok. Ed was at her side the whole time, glaring at the remaining two would be bullies.
âAw look, pacifier boy is here to defend Fancypants and his Otaku sister.â Danny said as he started towards them with Max following suit.
âThe term is pacifist Daniel,â Ed said in a calm clear voice, âIt means someone who doesnât believe that war and violence is the answer to lifeâs problems.â
"So what? It still means youâre a wuss, Northwest.â Danny said as he went to swing at Ed who ducked.
âWell you made three wrong assumptions about me. First is that since I donât like to fight, it means that Iâm a pacifist.â Ed said as he was dodging the first swing. Danny swung again which Ed easily dodged again saying, "The second is that since Iâm a Northwest that Iâm probably scared to get my hands dirty.â
Ed then released a rabbit punch into Dannyâs stomach followed by a right hook that sent Danny to the ground. âAnd finally you forgot that Iâm a Pines, none of us are wusses.â
"What happened to you Max?â Ginger asked after she was certain that Grenda was just dazed after his fall, âWe used to be friends, until you started hanging with these jerks.â
âThey treat me good, and keep the others from bugging me. I just like feeling important, not like an insignificant dweeb. You know, like you said, we used to be friends. If you wanted to dump these losers, Iâm sure I could talk the guys into letting you hang with us. Youâd probably need to dump the band merch too.â Max said as he offered Ginger his hand to help her up.
Taking it she stood up and said, âOh youâd do that for me. How thoughtful. But really, thatâs my brother. And if you look, it doesnât seem like my friends arenât the losers.â
Max quickly turned saw that Ed was standing over a prone Danny and Ricky was getting up off a groaning Alec. He was then jerked back around by the hand Ginger still held. He faced her just in time to feel her knee connect below the belt. He doubled over just as she released his hand. Â
âSo thanks, but no thanks. ìŒê°ìŽ.*â Ginger said as she went back and helped her brother to his feet.
After he was standing, Grenda II looked around at the carnage and then at his approaching friends. âThank you my friends. And you also Ginger, though donât you think you went a little rough on him?â
âNot really.â Ginger said as she saw the arcade employee, Ashley, standing there silently clapping.
Realizing that she was seen Ashley Walked over to the group. Looking at the group she said, âAlright I hate to do this guys. Officially Iâm gonna have to tell you that fighting of any type is prohibited and you guys have to be banned from the arcade for a week. Itâs in store policy and unfortunately this was caught on film. Now unofficially, Iâm glad someone put these guys in their place. I hate bullies.â
âAlright, we get the picture Ash. Thanks for breaking it to us softly. Weâll get out of your hair.â Ed said as he reluctantly started leading the his brother and their friends towards the exit.
âRemember itâll only be for a week and Iâll talk to Mr. Decker and see if I can get it to be shorter.â Ashley said as she watched the group heading towards the door.
âThatâs ok. No need to put yourself out of sorts for us. We did the crime, we can do the time.â Ed responded as they hit the exit. As the others left Ed stopped himself to look back at Ashley and asked, âHowâs things going between you and Jason?â
âGood, weâve got a date tomorrow night. Have I thanked you and Ginger yet?â Ashley said with a smile.
âYeah, you did. But you didnât need to, we donât do it for thanks. We do it for the cause of love.â Ed replied as he walked out of the door.
Ed joined the group outside while Ricky was pulling his hair back into his hairband from where the fight had messed it up. When he was done he looked at his brother and said, âWhat took you so long Ed?â
âI asked Ashley how Jason was?â Ed said as he realized that his hand was hurting. This was the first time he had hit something other than the training bag mom had in the exercise room Mother had set up for them. Â
Gingerâs face lit up at the mention of Jason. She grabbed Edâs hand and asked, âAre they still together?â
Ed did a miniscule wince when grabbed his hand but knowing she meant no harm he hid it. Remarkably the longer she held it the less I seemed to hurt. Knowing she wanted an answer he replied, âYep! They have a date tomorrow.â Â
âAlright that means itâs been two and a half monthâs. I think we can quote your mom and call this one a âMatch Madeâ!â Ginger said with a celebratory fist pump after releasing Edâs hand.
âWell now that that is out of the way,â Grenda II said with a smirk, âWhat are we going to do now?â
âHmm, I think Ran and Debbie are supposed to be at the Shack until their parentâs get done with whatever the hullabaloo the creatures of the woods are causing today. If theyâre not there then at least maybe we can help Uncle Soos work on some displays.â Ed said. He was thinking that if they were there it would be another chance for him and Ginger to get his cousin and her brother together.
"Really. De..., I mean your cousins will be there. That sounds good to me. Come on letâs be on our way.â Grenda said before he turned and quickly started heading in the direction of the Shack. With a little snickering at his enthusiastic agreement, the others started following him.
As they walked they passed City Hall and the twins noticed their Aunt Wendy getting into her Alamo Jaunt. Ed called out, âHi Aunt Wendy!â
âHi kids, I really donât have time to talk. Iâm in a rush to get to the Shack.â She said as she put on her seatbelt.
âWhat a co-inky dink.â Ed said with a smile. âWe were heading there ourselves. Any chance we could ride with you?â
After thinking about it for a moment she replied, âYeah, hope in. Ricky, you take the front seat and the rest of you get in the back.â
After the kids were in she said, âBuckle up! Weâre not gonna be taking the scenic route!â
 Back In The WoodsÂ
Approximately Twenty-Five Minutes Ago
âMeaghan, are you still over here?â Ran called as he worked his way back to where he had left her.  H had been making half circles spreading out from where she had said she had left her clothes. As he reached the creek he saw his shirt sitting on the rock he had last seen Meaghan sitting on. âMeaghan! Meaghan, where are you?!â
He looked behind around the clearing while continuing call out for her. As he was searching in the hollow of a tree on the edge of the clearing he hears his name coming from back at the creek. He turned quickly and saw her head and bare shoulders breaking through the surface of the creek.
Quickly turning around so that his back was towards her and the creek he asked, âSo why did you go back in the creek?â
âI felt kind of bad that you were out there searching and I was sitting here, uhmm sorry but your shirt is gonna be a little wet, just sitting here doing nothing. So I decided that I would check the water to see if they had somehow been blown in.â Meaghan said. Ran heard the ruffling of the fabric as she buttoned up his shirt. âIâm done, you can turn back around.â
âThanksâ Ran said as he turned back around. âI hate to say this but Iâve looked everywhere I could think of to find your outfit. My parents are supposed to be at the Shack to pick me and my sister up soon. Why don't I call them and see if they could come help out.â
Ran reached for his phone and when he realized it wasnât there he began patting down his pockets before he remembered having it out on the table when his sister walked in on his taxidermy project. âShoot, I left it back at the Shack. Now theyâre really worry. And Iâm gonna be in so much trouble. Iâve got to get back there.â
Meaghan stood there looking like she was near tears at his statement. With a stomp of her foot she said, "You canât leave, you promised to help me find my clothes.â  Â
âI wasnât gonna leave you, itâs just I need to get back to my family. Theyâre gonna be at the Shack soon, tell you what Iâll take you there and you can meet themâŠâ  Ran started before he was cut off by loud âHarrumphâ coming from Meaghan.
âNo, no, no. I thought you were different. But no, you just want to take me away. Well I have news for you mister, Iâm on to you. Where did you hide it?â She asked as she practically threw herself at him and started pounding on his chest.
Scooting back he caught her arms, âWhoa, where in the world is this coming from. I just spent an hour trying to find your clothes. All Iâm trying to do is help you.â
âNo, youâre taking me to meet your parents. I have heard that is a wedding ritual in your culture,â Meaghan said as she struggled to pull away from him now that her hands were caught, before she began crying and fell into his shoulder âIâm too young to be married.â  Â
âMarried? What? What in the world are you talking about?â Ran asked as he pulled her away only to be pulled back into a hug as he said continued, âI am in no way trying to get married. Iâm only eleven and anyways youâre only thirteen or fourteen, I know the laws are lenient in Gravity Falls but the stateâs minimum marrying age is still seventeen and thatâs with parental consent. So yeah, no one is getting married around here.â Â
âBut, but the customs. And the loss of my clothes.â Meaghan started  as she pulled away from  him. Seeing the earnest look on his face she added, â You truly mean it!â
âYeah, all Iâm gonna do is take you to my parents. They know every rock and tree in these woods almost better than they know me and my sister.â He said that last bit with a smirk so that she would know he was exaggerating. After she returned the smile he added, âSo letâs head to the Shack.â
âAlright,â she said as he took her hand and they headed towards the trail to the Shack.
 Present Time
Mystery Shack Parking Lot
âAlright kids, remember what I told you. Debbie may need your help. Her father, Antonio, and I will be heading out to find her wayward brother.â Wendy said as she was getting out of her Jaunt, with the kids doing the same.  Â
âNo problem Aunt Wendy, with the four of us there she may even forget that Ran is gone.â Ed said as he rushed towards the Shackâs entrance.
âWhat my brother means is we will do our best to entertain Debbie until Ranâs inevitable return.â Ricky added as he did his best to match his Auntâs lengthy stride.
Behind them Ginger is living up to her duties as a wing-woman and a matchmaker by giving Grenda II a pep talk as they head for the door. âOk, you can do this. Comfort her, console her, and once Ran is back ask her if sheâd want to go get some ice-cream tomorrow.â
âOk. Confront her. Control her. Scream at her eyes tomorrow. Ok, Iâve got this.â Grenda II said as they got to the door, âNo wait that doesnât sound right.â
âBrother, you are hopeless.â Ginger said under her breath before continuing in a whisper, âLook, calm down. Ed should be setting the scene for you right now. Just be your normal charming self and youâll be fine.â
They walked into the gift-shop where everyone was gathered. The adults and Antonio were off to one side in a conversation. Walking over they joined Ricky and Ed in giving Debbie a comforting hug, all thoughts of asking her out left Grenda as soon as he saw how upset she seemed.
âItâs all my fault. I was mad over something stupid and now Ran is lost. Iâm such a bad older sister.â Debbie was said in between sobs. She had calmed down, but seeing her friends and not her brother had set her off again.
âNo, youâre a great big sister.â Ed and Ricky said as one.
âHey  look. Your parents are gonna find your bro, you guys are gonna make up, and things will be alright.â Ginger added.
âTell you what Debbie,â Grenda said keeping one arm on her shoulder, âwhy donât we go in and see if that show you like is on.â
âI guess we can try, but Iâm not sure even Nova Butterfly** can cheer me up right now.â Debbie said as she let her friends guide her into the residential area of the Shack.
Across the gift-shop Wendy, Dipper, Soos, Melody, and Antonio were finishing going over the plan.
âSo for now Soos, you and Mel are gonna stay here in case he comes back while we are gone. Antonio, youâre with us. We might need the extra muscle.â Wendy said as she took off her flannel and tied it around her waist. She then tossed on a pair of gloves she had been carrying.
âWatch over the kids too, if you donât mind." Dipper added. After he got a nod in response he checked to if his M.A.C.R. (Mythical and Cryptid Resonance) Meter and other gear was still on his belt in case they needed to track any of the residents of the forest. Finally he joined his wife as she headed towards the kitchen and it's exit. Â
As they left Wendy said, âAntonio, show us where Ran went into the woods. That will give me a place to start tracking. He was probably agitated, so hopefully he wouldn't have thought of using anything Dad taught him.â
âItâs right up ahead Mrs. Pines. I was just coming back from helping you two with the creek when he ran into me.â Antonio said pointing towards a break in the tree-line.
âAlright, thatâs where weâll start.â Wendy said as they headed towards the spot. Dipper pulled out his meter to check the area when they got there to make sure any tracks they found were real and not glamour influenced.
When the reached the entrance Dipper began a full sweep, while Wendy started looking for tracks from her son. As he watched the couple go to work he was once again blown away by how much they complimented each other. He was in the middle of thinking how lucky he would be to meet someone that  matched him as they do each other,  when he saw some movement a couple hundred meters up the path.
âUhm, Mr. & Mrs. Pines doods. Weâve got movement up ahead. â Antonio said as he watched a bush he knew had a path beside it shake.
Wendy pulled out her ax while Dipper readied some sort of taser. He kept checking back towards his meter but there were no innocuous readings. Antonio pulled a rubber mallet out of his toolbelt. As they watched they saw a figure that appeared to be almost a head taller than Ran and it was about twice as hefty in the torso region. As it got closer they realized that it was Ran and that he was carrying someone piggyback.
âRan amigo, you ok?â Antonio asked as he dropped his mallet and rushed past the adults towards his little friend.    Â
Wendy and Dipper quickly joined their young friend in greeting their son and the young lady that was on his back.
âHi mom, dad. Yeah Tone, Iâm pretty good. But can you help me out here.â Ran said as he motioned with tip of his head at his passenger.
âOh shoot, sorry about that miss, the nameâs Antonio. Itâs still pine needles and what not from here till we hit the clearing, if you donât mind Iâll take over for Ran here until you wish to be set down. You know, to give the little guyâs back a rest.â He said the last bit with a wink and a smirk as if h was trying to share a joke with the obviously confused young lady. When she nodded in agreement he slid an arm under her legs and the other along her back. He caught her as she let go and she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.
âOk, whatâs going on young man? You had us worried and your sister was practically in hysterics until your cousins and your friends showed up yo help calm her down. I think she thought she had chased you to your death or something.â Wendy said as she hugged her son after he was free of his burden. Dipper stood there with his attention half on his son and half on his M.A.C.R. Meter.   Â
âSorry I took so long. I ended up coming across Meaghan here. Oh yeah. Mom, dad, Tone, this is Meaghan. Meaghan this is my parents and youâve met Antonio. â Ran started. After they all nodded in acknowledgement he continued as he rubbed his shoulders, âShe was swimming in the creek and some one stole her clothes. I gave her my shirt and began looking for her clothes. Just trying to help out like you guys taught me to do and I lost track of time.â
âIâm sorry that his helping me has inconvenienced you all, he truly was a gentleman throughout this whole ordeal.â Meaghan said, her voice teeming with admiration. She was still somewhat behind him so she didnât how flushed his cheeks were as she continued, âWhy he didnât even broach the subject of marriage and flat out refused the notion.â
âMarriage, whatâŠâ, Wendy started before she was cut off by her husband pushing the M.A.C.R. Meter towards her.
Finally fully turning his attention to the young lady, and while Wendy looked at his readings he asked.  âMeaghan, young lady, what are you?â  Â

Gravity Falls Headcanons
I'm bored and now you have this, I'm sorry, it's gonna be weird but that probably fits tbf
So first off, dipper has a love for tarantulas (am I projecting? Absolutely) and actually has a couple
Mabel hates them! But she's glad Dipper has something other than cryptids and mysteries to enjoy
Stan also hates the spiders he keeps with a burning passion but it's totally not because he's scared...
Mabel tried to teach Stan and Ford to knit so if they had any disasters clothes wise on board the Stan O' War II they'd be okay
Ford picked it up really well
Stan on the other hand did not... but he's trying!
As a thank you to Mabel they made her a knitted pig and sent it to her
They also made dipper a tarantula one
Dipper wears a kippah!
And at his bar mitzvah he also wore big Groucho Marx style glasses like Stan did to make him laugh, and Stan and Ford loved it
Stan and Ford always try and send letters and gifts to the younger twins whilst they're away
They tried to FaceTime but the Stan Twins were not compatible with technology- not to mention the poor connection
Despite being away a lot they make sure to be there for the really important moments
They also keep in contact with Wendy, Soos and Melody!
Stan is so proud of Soos and makes sure he's aware of it
Soos likes to keep Stan updated on what's happened at the Shack, and makes sure everyone remembers that he was the original mr mystery as well as what he sacrificed during weirdmaggedon
Wendy and Dipper talk allllll the time when the mystery twins are back in California
Mabel, Pacifica, Candy and Grenda, also talk alllll the time and do movie marathons on Disney plus together
Ford and McGucket regularly talk now, and invent together
When the stan twins aren't on the Stan O' War II, Ford and McGucket get together and discuss the paranormal findings
They also make sure to include dipper when they can because they value his input as well
Ford hates it but Stan and McGucket have a secret handshake, for no real reason other than to confuse Ford... Ford doesn't hate it as much as he lets on

Gravity Falls Headcanons
Some of these are mine, and some are inspired from others I've seen. These are all post-weirdmageddon
Dipper and the Multibear are penpals
Mabel is still close with Mermando and they still write all the time. While Stan and Ford were out in the sea, he used his political power to keep them protected by sending other sealife to watch over them, at Mabel's request. They don't know about this, besides the occasional guide that has to come on board.
Soos does an incredible job at running the Mystery Shack and ends up being able to expand it some, and find new attractions- some of them are actually real fantastical creatures.
After a bit, the residents of Gravity Falls got super used to paranormal happenings. Between the Blind Eye being disbanded, and Weirdmageddon not being something everyone could just forget about (anymore at least), it's just regular occurrence. However, it will never fail to completely baffle any visitors.
Dipper and Mabel started keeping a little journal of their encounters back in California. Of course, a whole year there is nothing compared to one summer in Gravity Falls, but it was nice to keep it up. Mabel did all the illustrations.
Mabel stole some of Stan's brass knuckles before leaving for Piedmont. When Stan learned about this the next Summer, he just laughed and said to keep them. She hasn't used them yet, but she has threatened people with them.
Mabel made a lot of money over the year by getting her friends to play poker with her and gamble real money- only a couple of dollars really, but it adds up.
They both ended up taking wrestling and got super good at it, scarily good at it actually.
Even though they all have phones, Mabel, Candy, and Grenda write to each other all year, just for the fun of it.
Waddles starts to grow really big really fast. It's not that big of a deal at first, but turns into a disaster after a while. Mabel refuses to get rid of him, so they board him at a barn.
McGucket really likes Waddles because he grew up on a pig farm. Whenever he comes over to the Shack when the twins are back in town, it won't be rare to see the two bonding.
He'll deny it to the end of time, but Stan loves Gompers so much. He almost ends up taking the goat with him on the Stan O' War II, but ends up leaving him with Soos with veiled threats to take care of the animal.
Soos accidentally called Stan dad a couple times. The first time it through them both off, but eventually they get used to it and allow it to happen. It baffles the others, and it makes Dipper and Mabel super happy to see. Mabel's made a couple jokes about how it makes them cousins, and Soos is thrilled by the idea.
Melody and Soos end up getting married pretty quickly. She had been meaning to move to Gravity Falls permanently for a while, and once Soos became the new Mr. Mystery, she had much more reason to. They never do end up having kids, but they probably accidentally adopt half the kids in town like Stan with Soos.
(Stan legally adopts Soos at some point)
Many people abide with the "never mind all that" act, but those are the ones who were lucky enough to get frozen early on and didn't see much. The people who talk about Weirdmageddon are the ones who were out surviving on their own, the refugees in the shack, those who were most affected by Bill's twisted jokes. They just can't pretend it never happened, so they all confide in each other about what went down.
Dipper and Mabel try to visit Gravity Falls every moment they can. Any break, if they can convince their parents, they spend time in Gravity Falls. They ended up going to Gravity Falls for New Year's and there was a giant party at the Shack. Stan and Ford came home, too.
Likewise, their friends from Gravity Falls sometimes come down to visit them. Usually it's Candy and Grenda, but sometimes Pacifica and Wendy, and occasionally Soos and Melody. Ford and Stan came by once, but they had to be along quickly.
Pacifica does end up working at Greasy's Diner, and ends up learning to bake there. She's surprised to find she enjoys it a lot, and she finds it calms her down, too, and she is quite good at it. She begins baking at home, too, and eventually also at the Shack, where she likes to share her creations with the Pines'.
While at first she's a little worried about going back there, Pacifica starts spending a lot of time at the Shack, even with the twins gone. It's a place of comfort. She gets closer to Soos and Melody, who become pseudo- parents to her, and eventually she finds her going there after school much more than she does her own place.
Wendy and Robbie become super close friends once the awkwardness and hostility fades, and they end up hanging out loads.
With Soos, Melody, and Abuelita all living in the Shack, there's just not enough room for everyone when the Pines' come to visit. If they're there for only a couple days, usually they lodge on couches and on inflatable mattresses on the floor. But if they're there for an extended amount of time, like over the Summer, they stay at the McGucket manor. McGucket is more than happy to let them stay, and the place is huge and has more than enough room. (Also, if anyone notices that Ford's bed is empty during the night, and he and McGucket come out of the same room, they don't mention it.)
Soos and McGucket start to bond over crazy inventions. Soos himself, while not quite an inventor, is very handy, and he has an excellent imagination and can make up the coolest of things, which McGucket can almost always make with no trouble, laws of physics be damned. They've almost burnt down half the town, and probably destroyed parts of the McGucket manor, and definitely destroyed parts of the Shack, but they seem to be having fun.
Pacifica finds herself hanging around McGucket Manor/ the old Northwest Mansion sometimes. She had a lot of bad memories of the place, but she ended up there a lit whenever the Pines' came to visit and stayed there over the Summer. Eventually, even when they're not there, she still comes by and begins to get along with McGucket. Sometimes when Soos goes there to help McGucket with his inventions, she comes along and might help out a bit to.
Before she was an adult, Pacifica basically gets unofficially but communally adopted by the whole town. Her parents are always so busy trying to find ways to regain their fortune and never really cared for her in the first place, so she often finds herself wandering town, and eventually gets quite close with a lot of the residents.

Josephine Grenda II Von Fundshauser
One more baby to the count!!
This time, itâs Grenda and Marius sweet daughter (Iâm planing on giving her siblings but got nothing yet)
Josephine, or Josie, lives with her parents in Austria, where she was born and raised, until Grenda and Marius decided itâd be good for her to spend some time between normal, not-high-society people. At the age of 12, Josie was sent to her Motherâs hometown to spend six months with her grandparents as an exchange student.
Excited but also super nervous, Josie decided to stay close with the nephews and niece of Grendaâs old friend, Mabel Pines. With the triplets, she found not just a great group of friends but more adventures than she could ever imagine.

Whole Again -Chapter 10
Whole Again on AO3
For a thirteen-year-old girl from Piedmont California, Mabel Pines thought herself fairly resourceful. She could bring cheer to even the most black-hearted individuals, befriend almost anyone. Even in the worst situations, she could pull out the positives and look on the bright side. And even if there were no real positives, she would try to find a solution where everyone else had slopped looking.
That was what she was doing now. Trying to find a solution to something that was completely hopeless. She refused to be without hope that there was something else happening. Because Mable did think that something else was happening; there had to be some other explanation to Stanâs behavior. Even if her Grunkle was possessed, they had saved Stan from Bill before, they could do it again! She just needed to think. She just needed time to do research.
Dipper had chosen to take Grunkle Fordâs lead; he had gone to the library and had found as much on demonic possession and exorcisms as possible. The books and printouts and documentaries were stacked on his bed and spread out on the floor; is computer was open and was playing a scene from a horror movie: The Daemon Removal Squad. It was corny. Mabel was trying a different approach.
She and Dipper had gone over all the information they had and had categorized it from most concerning to least concerning; a color gradient from purple to brown (her favorite and least favorite colors respectively). Grunkle Ford was at first worried that Stan was acting kinda strange. But Grunkle Stan was always kinda strange; he called himself âMr. Mysteryâ after all. Â
Stan had shown that he could read Gaelic (and the twins knew he could speak Spanish), he was adapting to technology at a much faster rate than even Grunkle Ford, and he knew about chemistry. The biggest questions Mabel had were answering the mysterious treats and blue fire handshake. Those were gonna be hard. Â
So, the question now was, were these things evidence enough that Stan wasnât himself? Dipper said that Grunkle Ford was first thinking about trauma. Maybe that was it. Maybe Stan was having some sort of phycological break and he thought he was Bill after having Bill in his mind, and then having it erased and then put back together. Mabelâs head hurt just thinking about it.
Stan knew about chemistry, so that meant he likely knew about chemical reactions and cool chemical tricks that like the ones their teacher had shown them. Mabel had seen something on YouTube about a guy that could use some kind of chemical to light his hand on fire and the flames were blue. Maybe he was just playing a really mean joke on Ford. Maybe he was really sick and they needed to get him to a therapist.
These were all things that were much more likely than a dream daemon coming back from being erased. That was as close to dead as she thinks Bill could be.
Ford had told Dipper that a package of toffee peanuts and jellybeans appeared as if by magic. But Mabel was good at finding things that were hard to get. Her hidden stash of Smile Dip attested to that ability. She had gone back to the Dusk-2-Dawn and had a wonderful conversation with the ghost couple there. They had let her take as much Smile Dip as she wanted. It was her guilty pleasure; anything she saw in Smile Dip Land was way less scary than what she had experienced in Gravity Falls last summer.
She tracked down the producer of toffee peanuts and contacted them. It helped that she had no fear of talking on the phone; her brother always had to triple check that he had the right number and then read from a script. They were an American based company, but their offshore branches had different production lines than what was in America. So, while toffee peanuts were discontinued in America because they werenât popular (and really who would like them but her Grunkle Stan), they were still available in Denmark where they were really popular. A quick search told her that Iceland and Denmark were close trade partners and it was likely that Stan could have picked up a bag somewhere.
So, it wasnât at the bakery he said it was. Maybe Stan forgot where he found them and he didnât think it was a big deal. They jellybeans were also explained away as Stan hiding them and surprising Ford the next morning. It was all so silly really; her boys were just jumping to conclusions. Nope, no supernatural things going on here. Everything could be explained away. But, to be on the safe side, she should probably help Dipper read up on exorcisms.
Most of the books and articles were religious texts and talked about using holy water and crosses. Mabel didnât think that crosses were going to do anything against Bill. The idea of holy water was still up for debate, though; she wasnât entirely convinced it wouldnât just burn her Grunkle Stan, possessed or not. Their family was a mix between Jewish and modern Cristian, but aside from the memories that Dipper had told her about, she didnât think that Stan was religious in any way.
There was also a lot of notes suggesting telling the person how much their family loved them would help drive out the daemon. They could do that! They all loved Grunkle Stan! And he had gone so long without being told someone loved him, it would do him good. Maybe that was how Bill had taken over Stan; Grunkle Ford wasnât telling his brother how much he loved him. Next time they got to talk to him, she was going to give her Grunkle Ford a piece of her mind. They had spent so much time apart; they needed to tell each other how much they loved each other! Just thinking about being separated from Dipper for thirty days (let alone thirty years) made her want to rush over and hug her brother.
For now, she would settle for just sitting on the floor by his bed and resting her head against his leg. She felt him absently reach down and run his fingers through her hair. It always helped her calm down when they were younger. Just like she used to draw pictures with her fingers (and sometimes markers) on Dipperâs back and tell him stories when he was sick or couldnât sleep. Dipper would never, ever admit it, but he used to like it when she did his make-up; something about liking the way the make-up brushed felt on his face. They hadnât done that in a while. She thought that they were getting to old for stuff like that, but maybe this was the perfect time to try again. They both were having a rough time acclimating back to normal life.
There was no weirdness at home. No gnomes, no magic, no weird flowers that made you all dizzy, no ghosts, no dinosaursâŠjust nothing. It was all soâŠnormal. So normal it was boring. She never thought she would want to be surrounded by crazy weirdness and magical creatures. Heck, before this past summer, she didnât even watch Ghost Harassers with Dipper; now she eagerly sat with him and even asked questions.
Dipper was also suffering from weirdness withdrawal. His new journal to record all the weird things in Piedmont was empty. The first few pages were filled with introductions, and lists of things he wanted to see and was packed full of notes from Grunkle Fordâs journals, but no entries of Dipperâs own. Her new scrapbook sat neglected too. She had taken tons of pictures the first few weeks back and during their first week of school, but then she justâŠdidnât want to anymore. It was like she didnât have the energy or the interest like she used to. She still liked to draw, her wall was covered with drawings, but they were all of the same things; her friends, Grenda and Candy, Wendy and Soos, Waddles, the Mystery Shack and her Grunkles.
Stan and Ford had sent them a postcard from Rhode Island before they set sail. It was a picture of them standing proudly on their new boat, The Stan OâWar II. All her drawings after that had been of them on the ship, fighting sea monsters and hugging penguins. Soos had sent her a letter with some of his âStan-fictionâ and they had started writing back and forth about what her Grunkles were up to. She didnât know how she was going to tell Soos that his dad might be in trouble. Because Stan was Soosâs dad; it didnât matter if they werenât related, family was family.
It didnât take long for Mabel to get bored of reading about all the dramatic passages she was supposed to say when exorcising a daemon, and she had no idea where they were gonna get a bucket of salt blessed by the Pope from. Instead, she focused on finishing the little trench coat she had knitted for the owl plush she made to look like Grunkle Ford. It was a project she had started not too long after she got back home. She had picked out the stuffed animals that reminded her the most of her friends and family and had gotten to work.
She had picked out a frilled lizard for Grenda (complete with knitted pink shirt and bow), a mouse for Candy (with a perfect little green stripped dress), Soos was a gopher (she had added a plastic fish bowl over the green hat after reading Grunkle Fordâs notes on Soos) and Wendy was a fox (she had made a replica of Dipperâs old pine tree had out of felt).
She had been working on Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford, (a silver fox and grey owl respectively) and hadnât finished Grunkle Fordâs trench coat yet. She had made their glasses out of pipe cleaners and that plastic film that came from those envelopes with bills and other grown-up mail. Stanâs fez had been made out of felt covered cardboard and yarn, but as Dipper pointed out, it should be on Soosâs head now. The fishbowl had been replaced and instead she knitted a red beanie for Stan. She considered sewing Ford and Stanâs hands (er, paw and wing) together, but she suspected that Dipper was sneaking owl Ford back to his bed at night. She wasnât the only one missing her family.
She felt the hand running through her hair stop as Dipper checked his phone again. They hadnât heard from their Great Uncle Ford in a while. Dipper had sent multiple texts and had tried calling twice. She knew that he shouldnât worry. Ford was probably getting sleep, or they were going through a bad patch. Maybe. She really hoped they were ok. Dipperâs phone sat like a holy relic on the nightstand.
After twelve hours with no word, they were starting to get worried. At seventeen hours, neither one could eat more than a few bites of dinner without feeling sick. By twenty-two hours, they were pouring over books and references and old notes of Dipperâs on Grunkle Fordâs journals just to distract themselves.
By the time their parents had come to tell them to go to bed, Mabel had stress knitted a scarf that would have been able to tie Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford together from head to toe. She also had a stash of Mabel juice in a resealable water bottle hidden under her bed. She wasnât planning on sleeping and miss any contact from Ford. The fact that Dipper had also snuck in a bottle told her all she needed to know; they were in this for the long haul. They were both way too anxious to sleep now. Â
What didnât help was their mom coming in and asking them if she could ask them a serious question.
âI guess, whatâs wrong?â Dipper was always the one to get to the point and ask the right questions.
âAre we in trouble?â She, on the other hand, had a habit of guessing at the problem and jumping to solutions first.
âNo, no, of course not. Dad and I were just worried about you. Youâve been actingâŠwell, a little strange since coming home. And for the past day I havenât been able to get two words out of either of you.â Diane sat on the end of Mabelâs bed, gesturing for Dipper to come join them. He did, but chose to stand rather than find a spot amongst Mabelâs pile of stuffed animal friends and family.
Diane sighed. Mabel could tell this was hard for their mom. They wanted to tell her and dad both what had happened to them, but would their parents even believe them? Heck, she wouldnât have believed it if she hadnât lived it; it sounded like a best-selling teen novel. Mable sat her finished Grunkle Ford owl in her lap, fully intending on soaking up the hugs she could from it before Dipper stole it for the night. Â
Their mom looked disquieted. Like she didnât actually want the answer to the question that she wanted to ask. Diane steeled herself, taking a steadying breath before the question came in stutters from her lips. âDidâŠoh God,âŠdid your Grunkle Stan everâŠask you to do something you didnât want to do?â Diane was shaking and wouldnât look her children in the eyes. Â
Mabel shared a confused look with her brother. Neither one could make out what their mom had really meant. This was really weird. Their mom never acted like this. And why was she asking about Stan? Did she know? Had she figured out what was wrong? But her question didnât make any sense. Had Stan asked them to do something they didnât want to? Well, yeah, but why was that bad? They asked Dipper and Mabel to do things like chores and homework all the time; how was Stan different? She reached for her Stan plush and frowned at it. Dipper answered for them; scratching at his arm and looking concerned.
âWell, I mean, sure. We helped in the gift shop, and did chores and stuff. And Stan made us go fishing, which actually was kind of fun, but nothing, abnormal. Not any different from what we do here. Why?â Dipper looked skeptical. Good, he had picked up on the hidden meaning behind momâs question too. Mable looked from her brother back to her mom, mouth pulled into a quizzical frown.
âYouâre sure? Because even if he told you not to tell anyone, you know you can tell us.â She looked pointedly at Mabel who had not yet responded. âYou wonât get in trouble. I just want to know if heâŠifâŠâ She couldnât finish.
Diane was white. She looked so scared. Mabel didnât understand what her mom was worried about or what she was trying to get at, but if her parents were this scared, well. It was time. Even if their parents didnât believe them, it was time to tell them what happened in Gravity Falls.
She looked to Dipper and silently asked for confirmation. He nodded, turning to gather what notes he had. She set her plushies aside and leaned over to the side table and pulled out her scrapbook; the one she had lovingly encased in glitter glue and fabric to keep protected. Â
âMom?â Mabel said, clutching the wrapped scrapbook to her chest.
âWe have something to tell you. Something that you probably wonât believe, but we need you to try.â Dipper finished the statement for her, pulling out his own journal and all the remaining notes he had from the past summer.
âGrunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford are not what they seem.â
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Diane Pines thought herself a very caring and knowledgeable mother. She liked to think that she knew what her children were thinking or feeling. She knew they were worried about something, but no matter how many times or how indirectly she asked, neither of her twins would divulge any information. She couldnât even sneak a peek at her sonâs phone; both twins had been carrying it around in shifts and neither one would let it leave their person.
Nothing seemed to get through. She had a feeling that it might relate to the happenings over the summer. She, nor her husband, Daniel, were stupid. The children had come back from Gravity Falls very different then when they left. At first, with the nightmares, she had thought they had been neglected or abused, but they insisted that Stanley (and later Stanford) had been the best of caretakers. They had refused to talk about their nightmares.
Some eavesdropping let her know that her children didnât think that their parents would believe them. Mason had insisted that she and Dan were too hardheaded about the paranormal, while Mabel had decided that she didnât want to worry them if they did choose to believe the crazy adventures the twins had gotten up to over the summer. The fact that her children had decided their parents would dismiss their concerns or that the summerâs events would worry them, made her even more afraid. Â
It hurt that her children didnât feel they could come to her with their problems. But, they were thirteen and had spent their first summer away from home. They were growing up, and they were learning how to deal with their own problems. But she couldnât shake the feeling that there was something sinister going on. It didnât help that she was embittered towards Stanley (nee Stanford) after the truth had come out.
âOh sure, lie about your identity for thirty years while you take over your brotherâs name and house while you track down said missing brother! While weâre at it, letâs fake your death and then distance yourself from the family until your father dies and your nephew contacts you out of guilt!â Her husband had patiently listed to her rant and rave in the kitchen the night the twins came home. They had told her a fairly condensed story about how Stanford had gone missing thirty years ago and Stanley had kept his brotherâs house by turning it into a tourist trap and spent those thirty years trying to find his brother. That Stanford had magically come home unexpectedly one day after government agents had gotten involved.
She was very angry with Stanley. And she had no idea what to think of the real Stanford; though since he had been missing for THIRTY YEARS, and NO ONE was willing to say where he had been, well, both twins were on her âshit listâ.
Her children loved them, though. So as angry as she and her husband were, they didnât let it show. For their kids, they would try to forgive. It didnât hurt that Dan was very excited to meet the intellectual prodigy that was Stanford Filbrick Pines. Upon discovering that the con man and tourist attraction purveyor was not the person who had written âAccounting for Physical and Chemical Irregularities Occurring in Objects affected by Differing Conditions of Spacetimeâ and the actual author was far more ânerdyâ, he was elated and eager to have them over for the holidays. Unfortunately (though fortunately for her) the twins had gone exploring the Arctic Sea at the end of the summer and would not be back on this side of the country for at least eight months (or so they had planned). A Spring visit would also allow her time to properly clean her house and prepare the guest room. It had become her office space of late; she worked as an appraiser for a realtor agency and needed a space to work from home. Â
It also gave her time to get over any residual anger. Some days it seemed so easy to forgive, when her children were smiling and laughing about their summer antics and reminiscing about all the fun they had. Some nights it was hard, damn near impossible, to forgive when her children woke up screaming and clinging to one another for comfort. Neither one ever willing to tell their parents what was wrong.
It terrified her to think what might have happened that her own children wouldnât talk about it. Dan had guiltily mention the family secret, and now both of them feared that their children had been witness (or, God forbid, participants) inâŠthat. She didnât want to think poorly of her husbandâs family, but it was well known that they didnât talk about Stanford and Stanley in polite companyâŠor any company. Â
Diane had first met the man when the twins were born. He had rushed down from Oregon upon Shermanâs call. In less than seven hours (she suspected he had neglected road traffic laws) he was in the waiting room with her husband and Sherman. They had joked about the last time Stanley (then Stanford) had seen his nephew, was when he had been an infant being babysat by Gina and Filbrick. The night that his brother (he) had been kicked out. Stanley had taken a somber look until the nurse had told them that Diane had gone into labor. Only Dan was allowed in the delivery room, Stan and Sherman remained outside looking through the window.
After the twins had been born, cleaned, and passed around to everyone (Stan had stolen them from Sherman and had both parents laughing), they had allowed her to walk down to the cafeteria and get food. Her father-in-law had gone with her, the other men too busy cooing over the infants to bother. Â
She had asked about Stan, about why he was so distant from the rest of the family. Sherman had told her than his younger siblings were close. Unusually close. Apparently, there had been someâŠsuspicions, that they were far closer than is right for siblings. He had gotten uncomfortable when she asked how and wouldnât explain further. All he said was it wasnât something the family talked about. The only reason he knew, was because Gina had needed to ask someone and Filbrick would haveâŠwell he would have handled it poorly.
Marianne (her mother-in-law) had just gotten off a long shift in the geriatrics ward and had come down to see the new additions to the family. It gave her enough time to ask her husband about Stanley (then Stanford). He told her that his dad never talked about it, and grandma refused to look at him when he asked. He could never get anything out of his dad. She had an opportunity to go straight to the source when the twins were 11 and Filbrick suffered a sudden heart attack.
After Filbrick had passed and Gina was preparing to move in with Sherman and Marianne. The eldest son couldnât find it in himself to put his mother in an assisted living home. They had all flown out to New Jersey that summer to help her pack and sell the house. Diane had gone to Gina for conformation about what happened to cause Stanley and Stanford to be such a taboo subject. It took time, but in her vulnerable state, Gina was willing to divulge a nearly forty-year secret.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Gina and Filbrick had gone out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary and had left the twins behind. They were eighteen; she could trust them for a few hours to have some time alone with her husband. Sherman was living on his own by then and was going steady with Marianne. Everything had been goingâŠwell, generally speaking. Stanford was on his way to graduating in the top of his class that year and StanleyâŠwell Stanley had been pulling his grades up steadily. They wouldnât get him into any college, but he would graduate and could get a job in town.
Although, Filbrick had his own thoughts about that. He was determined to teach Stanley how to be a man and provide for himself. She never understood why he was so hard on Stanley and not Stanford; they were both her special little boys and she loved them equally. She had always tried to be fair, but Filbrick had homed in on Stanley and had not yet let up. Boxing lessons, refusing to get him new glasses when he had gotten into a fight that had broken his, insisting that he not cry because it wasnât manly, telling him to take his wounds like a man when he lost a particularly bad boxing match, telling him he punched like a girl, criticizing him for wearing a pink suit to promâŠit just never stopped. Stanford never got the same treatment and she never knew why.
They had gotten into a tiff in the car, her and Filbrick, about what Stanley was going to do after graduation. Filbrick had off-handedly considered finding him his own place, or at the very least making Stanley pay rent. No mention was made about Stanford or any expectations about what Stanford should do. She had had enough. She was out of the car and marching up the stairs to the main house in a flurry of anger as soon as the car was in park. She as so done with Filbrickâs unfair treatment of the twins. Sherman was the golden child, the first born; it was like Stanford and Stanley were unwanted extras. Sherman and the twins were only five years part for goodness sake! Gina was just mounting the top of the stairs when she sawâŠit.
Her sons, her twin boys⊠  Â
They had been curled up with each other watching a romantic drama on TV. Not entirely unusual for the boys; they were damn near joined at the hip, partners in crime. Nope, cuddling was not unusual for the Pines Twins, at least, far out of Filbrickâs sight anyway. The delicate kiss shared between them was, however, very unusual. The kiss is what stopped Gina in her tracks; balanced at the top of the stairs.
Ginaâs mind stalled, turned off. She didnât understand what she was seeing, her mind couldnât comprehend the sight in front of her. Her sonsâ eyes filled with fear. They hadnât moved. The boys had been so frightened and shocked by their motherâs sudden arrival that they hadnât even made an effort to separate themselves. Stanleyâs hand resting on Stanfordâs cheek, other hand braced against the back of the sofa. Stanford himself had buried his hands into Stanleyâs hair and shirt collar. She suspected that this was not the first time this had happened. The thought made her ashamedly queasy. Â Â
Gina had been so relieved that Filbrick had stopped to take care of something in the shop. She feared what would have happened if he had seen them. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, listening for the door downstairs. âYour father is coming. Thisâ, she gestured at them, âwill. not. happen. again.â Her words were punctuated with barely leashed emotion. The twins had scrambled away from one another; Stanford scooping up a physics book and Stanley rapidly changing the channel to a boxing match. They were just sliding into place and Gina finishing hanging her coat when Filbrick entered.
He had nodded in greeting to both boys, who greeted him quickly and politely in response. Filbrick entered the kitchen, apartment eerily quiet with the only sound coming from the television announcer. Both twins refused to look in her direction; Stanford burying his face in his textbook and Stanleyâs eyes glued to the screen. What was she going to do? What was she going to say? What do you say when you catch your children, your twin boys, kissing each other? Â Â
Filbrick grabbed a beer from the fridge and headed back down to the shop to repair some appliance he had gotten in that afternoon, pausing to kiss her cheek and remind the kids to clean up after the match was over. Popcorn bowls, sodas, toffee peanuts and jellybeans littered the coffee table. When the door to the shop was firmly closed, Gina paced a finger to her lips and pointed to the twinsâ room. They obeyed, sparing less than a moment to look at one another. She followed them, closing the bedroom door softly. She steeled herself a moment, pushing down her emotions and calming her racing mind, before addressing the one problem she never thought sheâd face.
They refused to look at her. The bunkbed they had as children was still pushed up against the right wall; they had refused to separate the beds as they got older. Stanley sat on the bottom bunk, Stanford stood beside the desk. âLook at me.â The harshness of her voice startled her. She needed to not be anger. She honestly didnât know why she was angry. She didnât know why she insisted they look at her. It was just going to be harder. Stanford complied, hesitantly, and eyes noticeably watery. Stanley couldnât; his head was bent low, fists griping the bedsheets and shoulders hunched. It would do.
âI donât know how long this had been going onâ Stanford opened his mouth to respond, but she held her hand up to stop him, âand I donât care. It cannot happen again. Do you understand me? Never again. What if it was your father, huh?â Both boys flinched at the mention of Filbrick Pines. They were both so scared of their father, and she could understand why. The man was hard edged and had very specific and uncompromising view of the world and his familyâs place in it. If the family stepped out of line, they would know. Stanford nor Stanley fit the mold Filbrick tried to shove them in.
Gina was a little more understanding, but thisâŠthis was going to be hard. There was no good way to handle this. It was wrong. It shouldnât be happening. Thank God, they were both men; she didnât want to think about the potential problems if either Stanley of Stanford had been female. She felt a small lump of disgust well up in the pit of her stomach. She didnât understand, she couldnât understand. However, she would not let her feelings inject themselves into this; she loved her sons, it didnât matter what they did. But this needed to stop.  Â
âLook,â she knelt down to Stanleyâs side; his closed eyes barely holding back tears, âI wonât deny that this will take some time for me to come to terms with. But if you areâŠof that persuasion, if you both are,â She paused to look at Stanford, his eyes hidden behind the glare of his glasses, âI wonât love you any less. Do you understand me? I still love you.â Stanley looked up at her then. Tears pooling at the corners of his eyes. Stanford had taken a step towards them; he looked dazed, as if her statement was unexpected. She wouldnât lie to them and tell them everything would be ok, they deserved the truth. But she would not stop loving them. It would just take time, a long time, for her to be ok with this. She continued.
âBut please, please, no more of this. NotâŠâ she paused, trying to find the right words. âNot with each other.â It was so strange how the thought of either of her boys kissing another man didnât bring up the same feelings of revulsion as before. She knew they were close. She knew they didnât have other friends. She had heard about what happened at prom (she spent four hours trying to get the punch out of their suits). She knew how hard it was for them to make friends, let alone girlfriends (or she guessed, boyfriends). She should have seen this coming. She should have seen how close they were and intervened. That was why Filbrick had been so hard on Stanley. It had to be. He knew something, suspected something. Oh, God. If he ever found outâŠif he ever knew what they had done. Gina felt a spike of fear race down her spine. Â
âAnd donât ever let your father know. Dear God, donât ever let him find out.â She took a moment to collect herself and stand up. She gathered Stanley up in a bone crushing hug, squeezing him a moment before lifting one arm to allow Stanford to join them. He kissed both of their heads in turn. âI donât care if youâreâŠif you like men. I still love you. But please be careful. The world is not a nice place to people who are different. You both should know that by now.â She felt Stanfordâs hand grip tighter into the fabric of her dress. Yes, the whole family knew what being different was like. But they were Pines, they wouldnât let that stop them. She wanted her children to be happy. She would do anything to ensure that they were happy and healthy. Her next words were barely a whisper, mumbled into Stanleyâs hair line. Â
âMy advice, wait until you are on your own beforeâŠbeing open. I donât know how your father will react, but if youâre on your own, thereâs nothing he can do.â She held them tighter. She wouldnât let go of them no matter what. Sheâd promised herself, even if she had to visit them in prison, she would hold onto them. She pretended not to notice Stanfordâs fingers shyly tracing down Stanleyâs arm. They were comforting each other. That was it. Why did it feel like she was trying to convince herself?  Â
She let them go after giving them both another squeeze. She started towards the door, pausing a moment to look back at her sons. She pretended to not see them discreetly reach out for one another and clasp hands. âWe never spoke of this. This never happened.â They both nodded. She left, closing the door behind her.
In the coming weeks, Gina pretended not to notice the telltale signs of teen hormones; mussed hair, bruised lips, furtive eyes. She didnât know what to do about any of this. Despite her warnings, she suspected they hadnât stopped. Had continued to explore things with one another. She was relieved that the thought didnât make her feel sick anymore. Now she was just scared for them. She tried to tell herself they had just been experimenting with a trusted person. That they would grow out of it in time, it was just hormones. But it all got lost in the wake of the science fair. Â
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Tearfully, Gina confessed that she and Filbrick were the reasons why Stanley (then Stanford) was so alienated from his family. It had come out at after they heard about Stanleyâs death. She had let slip what had occurred that night. Filbrick had been livid and had forbidden anyone from going to the funeral. She had tried to call up to the house in Oregon, but only got an answering machine. She left a tearful explanation of why they didnât go, her love and her forgiveness, asking for forgiveness in return. Stan had died in a car accident not too far from Gravity Falls after all. He had probably been trying to see Stanford. Trying to make up.
Diane had sat and comforted Gina for a while after her tale. She told Dan a very brief recap of the story. They agreed to never mention it to the kids, nor ever speak openly about it. It was something the Pines family was deeply ashamed of. And it had happened so long ago, she didnât want it to color her childrenâs perspective of their family.
As soon as the kids had gotten home and the wonderous tale of lost brothers and hidden identities had been told, Dan had called his father and Grandmother up and informed them of the news. From what she heard from Dan, who heard from Sherman, who had overheard half a conversation between the twins and Gina, the news had not been received well. Â
âThirty years, Stanford! Where the hell were you?! Did you get kidnapped, just up and leave with no explanation?! And you Stanley, I know youâre listening, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Taking over your brotherâs name, making us think you were dead! Do you know how much pain you put me through?!â
It would be almost funny if it wasnât so heartbreaking. Apparently, they had promised to come visit as soon as the next summer rolled around. Gina was not a woman to be trifled with; she had survived a marriage with Filbrick Pines after all, she was as tough as they came.
It was all wonderful and goodâŠuntil her children had woken up screaming less than a week home, and refused to talk about what had happened. They were at their wits end when Dan brought up the âincidentâ. She had hesitantly called Gina the next day, telling her about the children and inquiring about Stanâs âpersuasionsâ. She didnât want to accuse, but these were her children. She would do anything, come hell or high water, to keep them safe. Â
As much as the older members of the family had reassured her and Dan that nothing had happened to the kids. That neither Stanley nor Stanford would ever even consider laying a hand on the kids that way, Diane couldnât get the thought out of her head. Her children would not be waking up screaming most nights if something horrible hadnât happened. Â
So, she had made up her mind. She would ask them flat out. Or, she would try. They were children; would they even understand what had happened to them? She wondered when she had started thinking of it as what rather than if. She had almost convinced herself that Stanley Pines was a dangerous man, a disgusting piece of wasted space when she finally confronted her children. The answer she got was very far removed from what she expected. Â
âMom?â He beautiful, sweet and innocent daughter looked at her with eyes that suddenly looked much older and wiser than they should. Mabel held out the wrapped scrap book that contained memories from the past summer. Â
âWe have something to tell you. Something that you probably wonât believe, but we need you to try.â Her darling son held the same hardness in his eyes, like heâd been to war and survived its atrocities.
âGrunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford are not what they seem.â Â

BillDip Week 2017, Day 6: Favorite AU
Monster Falls is my favorite AU of all, of that there is no doubt... Also the second and last part of the chapter of the first day. I hope you like it.
Notes and Warnings: Monster Falls. A kind of marriage proposal.
Do you?
The birds sang in the trees, there were children's laughter and not the typical whining, on the first floor of the house there were no screams or fights and no death threats â And he, Dipper Pines, had awakened quietly without a certain demon with triangle-shaped marks on his body jumping into his nest to wake him.
The day had begun weird. Too weird.
The window of his room was open but Bill was nowhere in his room, hadn't Bill come in all night? â It's not as if he wanted to but he was almost accustomed to that the demon lay next to him and that at the first ray of the Sun he was already bothering him to go out and to go to the forest and the town.
Dipper scratched his head... He had awakened in a good way... Bill hadn't come all night... Everything seemed calm in Gravity Falls... His house was at peace... Did Bill upset his colleagues, again? It wouldn't be the first time Bill had angered any of the other demons, or even the main members of the Council, and he usually got away with it â Dipper still suspected that Bill wasn't well off but his silly boyfriend told him that he was safe from some repercussions.
Not wanting to pay much attention to the fact that Bill hadn't come to bed with him â Which he didn't care about at all â Dipper decided it was best to go down to breakfast with his family... Maybe Bill had been caught by Ford as the demon sneaked through his window â Wait, did that mean the suffocating silence in his house? Did Ford finally flay Bill as he had always promised?! It's not like he cares... Not at all.
The cervitaur finally entered the kitchen where a mermaid, a gargoyle, and a sphinx were having breakfast.
âG' Morning, Dip-Dop!â Mabel waved to see her brother, âIt seems that someone doesn't look very happy~â
âWhat are you talking about? I slept perfectly last night.â Dipper assured his sister as he took a bowl to pour some milk and cereal.
âSure? I didn't hear noises last night in your room.â Mabel winked, chuckling.
âMabel!â Dipper yelled flushed as he approached his sister, while looking sideways at Stanford, the sphinx didn't look very happy either. âHey, Grunkle Stan.â Dipper called his Great Uncle, the gargoyle nodded as he continued to eat breakfast, âIt's just curiosity,â Dipper heard his sister chuckle, âDid Bill leave early?â Did you even hear if Bill came to the house?
âDon't ask me about him,â The gargoyle sipped his coffee, âFor the first time the house is in harmony without having to see your psychotic boyfriend and the paranoid Ford fighting.â The gargoyle simply said, at the same time that Stanford was quarreling about his paranoia about Bill.
So Bill didn't come all night? And didn't even come to wake him as usual? Here was something really weird. And Dipper was going to find out so he had to end up with another bullet in his leg.
âDon't worry, DipDop,â Mabel dropped her head on his shoulder, Dipper felt a chill run down his back, his sister's hair was wet and he hadn't put on a shirt yet, âWhatever your wicked boyfriend is planning can't be bad.â
âMabel, what did we say about that phrase?â Stan looked at his grand-niece.
âOh, we shouldn't say it when Dipper or Grunkle Ford is near.â
Dipper had confirmed that his family knew nothing of Bill since the last time they saw him, maybe his silly boyfriend had his reasons or finally Ford had found a spell to keep him out of the house and he was waiting outside. Be that as it may, he'd better finish breakfast and go find him in town or in the woods, or wherever the sound of laughter comes.
The town seemed to be in peace, the monsters who lived there gladly greeted him, some with much more respect, to which Dipper was tired of telling them to keep on treating him as usual. To each of them Dipper asked if they had seen Bill but each of the monsters denied him, none of them knew where the demon was.
âUncle Dipper!â Carlos shouted from the swings and caught the attention of the cervitaur.
At least there was someone here who could be of help. Not that Bill would like to be babysitting in the park, especially if we talk about Carlos, Isabella, Adrien, and Grenda II, the only children who seemed to have no respect for Bill.
âHi, kids.â Dipper approached the elf and the vampire playing on the swings with the youngest of the werewolves on the branches of the trees while the little toad girl was sitting under the tree watching the other older children taking care of her, âHow long have you been here?â He hoped to sound casual.
âFrom the morning, I think Adrien slept here.â Isabella pointed to the werewolf who stuck out his tongue.
âSo you have been here since early,â Which was obvious, they were young, they had energy to spare, they were the new group of Cool Kids, good for mischief and get away with it â They are the perfect candidates to do tricks with Bill Freaking Cipher! If Bill wanted to have â ?
âUncle Dipper, are you all right?â Adrien asked, âYour face is totally red that could be compared to Aunt Wendy.â
âHa! Sorry, I think I'm about to die. I'm kidding.â Dipper added when he saw Grenda II's worried face. âWell, what I was coming at was to know if any of you have seen Bill, I haven't seen him since the morning.â
The three children exchanged a look without Dipper seeing them.
âPerhaps Lord Cipher is in the woods, have you thought of that?â Carlos asked, pointing to the exit of the cave.
âThat was what I was thinking.â
âI bet Mr. Cipher found something better than playing with a group of children who don't respect him.â Adrien commented. Dipper had to admit that Adrien had more of his aunt than his own father.
What else could Bill be doing in the woods other than torturing the poor forest creatures? âI think it will be better if I go looking for it.â
âDo you want us to join you, Uncle Dipper?â Isabella asked excitedly, even had already got off the swings.
âI would rather not,â Dipper kindly said, he knew how disastrous the young monsters used to be in the woods, âIf any of you see Bill tell him I've been looking for him.â
âUnderstood and scored.â Carlos said his uncle.
One of the advantages of being the most important person in Oregon, and having been shot in the woods during the hunting season, was that most of the creatures that lived in the woods usually stayed by his side. Now there were none of them that seemed to be in plain sight. It wasn't hunting season around the forest so that no creature would decide not to appear before him.
Dipper began to scratch his arm when he felt a slight itch.
âOuch!â Someone had pulled his antlers, turning around realized that it was one of the pixies â At least he had found someone, âHey â Ouch! What the hell is wrong with you?â
The pixies had begun to try to pull him off his antlers, causing him to step back to avoid them.
âIs it by the time I steal pixie dust? I thought we talked about this already.â Almost two years had passed, why are the semi-immortal creatures the most spiteful?
Dipper began to move away from the pixies, perhaps he had broken into some matter of the little flying creatures, however when he moved away another hive began to annoy him. Trying to get away from the pixies, more of them were on his way.
âIf it is for something that Bill did â â Dipper tried to reason with them.
Dipper finally ended up almost crashing into a tree, stopping just in time and turning around to see the pixies and try to talk to them again. The flying creatures seemed to go straight to him but before they even approached him these dispersed in several directions until Dipper was alone again.
His heart was too agitated to flee from the pixies. Rubbing his head Dipper saw a few hair fall. âIt seems that they apply eye for an eye. But if this really was Bill's idea â â
Dipper stopped at see that he was in a clearing, the trees surrounded the small green field with hundreds of colorful flowers around a small pond that was the flowing water he had heard, surely was connected to the waterfall near the cave. Dipper came to refresh himself, taking some water in his hands. Dipper dropped it on his face, the heat of Summer and the flight had made him sweat. âIt's a nice place.â Dipper said loudly, turning again to see the forest clearing.
âRight, don't you think so?â
Dipper opened his eyes and looked up at the trees, with the most ambitious smile and dress in all his dark elegance, Bill Cipher, the demon he had been searching for all day, was there.
âPine Tree â !â
âDon't you Pine Tree to me.â Dipper approached the tree, his visibly annoying face, âWhat happened with you? You weren't when I woke up, I thought your meeting with the Council would last only one night â â
âAw, did you miss me?â Bill's amber eyes shone like gold.
âN-no! Don't try to change the topic of discussion, Bill Cipher!â That's right, he had called him by his full name, in a state of complete anger.
âLittle Tree, don't be so upset, that pretty face of yours will fill with wrinkles â â
âAt least you could have told me something.â Dipper folded his arms, âWait â â How did Bill find him? âHow â ? You were always by my side all this time, weren't you?â Damn it! He must have looked like a fool all day.
âDo you think I'd stop caring for you sometime?â Bill put a hand to his chest, offended.
âRather said stalking me.â Dipper narrowed his eyes, the moment Bill got down from that tree â
âYou're my favorite monster, the one I love most in this world, I'd obviously never stop keeping an eye on you, literally.â Bill even made the mere movement of almost pulling his eye out with his gloved fingers.
âBill, please, I know you're capable of that and more.â It wouldn't be the first time Bill tried to explain his humor with his own body... It wasn't something he would want to see again, at least not when he was angry and the demon would only make him worry. âBetter go down once of that tree than I need you to tell me  â â
Bill rolled his eyes, smiling tenderly at Pine Tree's annoying face, he truly loved every expression of Pine Tree, every inch of the cervitaur was his and every inch of him was Dipper's, and that would be enough for him.
The cervitaur stepped back as Bill jumped from the tree.
âDo you want an explanation?â Bill asked, quite amused at Dipper's inquisitive look, âFine, then listen to me. We have been dating for almost two years â â
âYear and a half.â
âI've known you since you and your sister moved here years ago â â
âWhich I swear is not creepy at all.â Dipper said with some sarcasm, trying not to laugh, for a long time knew that Bill had laid eyes on him for some time.
âAnd both we have become accustomed to the presence of the other â â
âI can't say it was easy, but was fun. In a strange way.â
âSo as time passed, I decided that I didn't want this to end,â Bill pulled out a small box of black velvet, leaning in front of the monster, âAnd I hope you don't want this to end either.â
Dipper's eyes widened in astonishment as the little box was presented to him, not yet open but Dipper was already shaking, âBill... Don't tell me that you... Do you even - ?â
âPossibly I was very hurried to do this, but after thinking so much I didn't want to reverse what I had planned to do.â
Bill opened the box, revealing its contents. A silver ring lay within it, with a blue triangle-shaped gem glittering like stars at the touch of natural light that illuminated the clearing, Dipper feared that simply touching it with his mundane hands the gem would break.
âSo following the natural courtship, the last step is this,â Bill spread to him the velvet box with the engagement ring inside,r, âDipper Pines, do you want to spend the rest of our lives as one?â
Dipper didn't know whether to laugh or cry, maybe he would do both, but now he had to do something, and that was clear. âYes. I do. Of course I do. With a condition.â Dipper said, sitting on the floor to be at Bill' height, the demon rolled his eyes at Dipper's aggregation, âYou won't disappear again this way without first telling me, Bill Cipher, I was like a madman in the town.â
âI wouldn't have to do it anymore.â Bill winked at him.
Carefully removing the engagement ring and taking Dipper's right hand Bill slipped the ring on the young monster's ring finger. When the ring was finally at the end of the finger the blue gem shone with more intensity, as if it really was a star... Maybe it was a star Bill had captured, his dumb boyfriend loved giving him the most luxurious gifts.
âYou know something,â Dipper spoke standing up being helped by Bill, âI always believed that if you would propose marriage, this gem would be a deer tooth.â
âThat will be for our wedding rings if you prefer â â
âNo, forget it, I never said anything.â
âI'll forget that part, but not the fact that you thought I'd propose to you someday.â
Dipper frowned, âI believed.â
âIt's the same.â Bill smiled sincerely. âDo you know what is best?â Bill floated beside him to return to Gravity Falls, Dipper arched a curious eyebrow, âI will tell everyone in your family.â

Okay Megan, strap in and be ready for a ride:
*Disclaimer: This is based on things Iâve picked up from being a veteran of the fandom, though these views donât exactly mirror my own.*
Also, Gravity Falls Spoilers under the cut!!!!!
1. It all started with the episode âThe Time Travelerâs Pigâ, in which Stan runs a mystery fair. After Dipper has a terrible day when his teenaged crush, Wendy, gets back together with her ex-boyfriend Robbie, and Mabel has a great day getting her pet pig named Waddles, they encounter a time traveler by the name of Blendin. They steal his time traveling measuring tape, and go back to the beginning. Mabel goes to re-win her pig, while Dipper tries to find a way to not screw things up with Wendy, causing her to get back together with Robbie.
Dipper keeps trying, but nothing seems to be working, until he figures out a way - he just needs Mabelâs help for it. Mabel agrees, and Wendy doesnât get back together with Robbie. However, Mabelâs rival and bully, the rich girl Pacifica, wins Waddles instead. Sheâs extremely upset about it, and eventually, Dipper gives up his chance with Wendy for his sister to get Waddles.
Fans say Mabel is selfish here for wanting to get Waddles over helping her brother get the girl he has a crush on. It wasnât anything huge in the fandom, just the start of this discourse, if you will.
2. Then came the episode âSock Operaâ, in which Dipper, in his quest to find the author of the journals, finds what he thinks is his laptop. He stays up night after night, consumed on guessing the password. Meanwhile, Mabel is consumed by one of her many boy crushes that summer, a puppet-obsessed guy named Gabe. She wants to impress him with a puppet show, and begins working on it with her friends Candy and Grenda. Dipper asks for Mabelâs help on the password, and she agrees.Â
But when she realizes she needs to step up her game with the puppet show, she doesnât. Later, in Dipperâs desperation for the password, he makes a deal with Bill which ends up with Bill possessing Dipper. It takes a bit of convincing Mabel to help her brother, but eventually, they defeat him and Dipper gets his body back.
Many fans point out that Mabel seems extremely selfish here, at first choosing a boy over helping her brother with the password, and the fact that it takes convincing for her to help, when Dipper has sacrificed a lot for his sister before, like in âThe Time Travelerâs Pigâ.
3. Finally, the finale 3-parter: Weirdmageddon. In the first part, Dipper is offered a internship with the author of the journals, Ford. When planning their 13th birthday goes bust, Mabel is a wreck - she figures out growing up isnât the dream sheâd been fed over the years, and when she figures out her brother might be leaving her for the internship, she got very upset. Their bags are switched - Dipperâs bag has Fordâs interdemonsional rift (They were patching up the crack around itâs glass) which Ford told Dipper could lead to the end of the world, and that this was too important to tell his sister about - and Blendin approaches, possessed by Bill, and offers Mabel a deal for summer to last forever if she just gives him the rift, which was her brotherâs.
Fans say that Mabel was being selfish by giving away something of Dipperâs for her own happiness, and how it just seemed like a constant within the series of Mabel choosing herself over her brother.
4. Finally, in Weirdmagedon Part II, Wendy, Dipper, and Soos enter Mabelâs Bubble, where Bill had her trapped. They enter to save her to find out that she doesnât want to leave this wonderland and go back to the crushing reality outside. Mabel, with a clap of her hands, can make anything she wants, and she made another version of her brother called Dippy Fresh that Mabel liked better, and sheâd wanted to stay with this version of her brother in this new wonderland of fantasy.
Fans point out that Mabel doesnât seem to care that much about her brother if she was willing to make a replacement version of him and act like it was ok. Also, fans add to this fact that later in the episode, Mabel is willing to have Dipper banned from her bubble just because she didnât want to go back to reality, and the fact that she didnât seem too keen on trying to stop the apocalyspe she created.
Now, just to add my two cents on the matter:Â
Mabel as a character is very complicated. She makes bad decisions because sheâs only 12-13, sheâs still a kid, and sheâs learning how to make better decisions and think about others. That being said, letâs run through each of these and Iâll add my counterpoints.Â
First, with âSock Operaâ, Iâll agree it was wrong for Mabel to put Gabe before her brother. But I feel like she learns her lesson near the end, destroying all her hard work to impress this guy just to be able to help and save her brother from Billâs possession.Â
Then, in the first part of Weirdmageaddon, Mabel has no idea what sheâs giving up because Dipper didnât tell her, if he did she never would have. She felt like everyone was leaving her behind to face highschool all alone, and as someone who just started high school, I totally sympathize with her - itâs scary, man. Also, itâs worth mentioning in âSock Operaâ Dipper was willing to give up a puppet of Mabelâs she worked hard on in order to achieve the password to the computer.
Then, in the second part, if you remember Mabelâs pain the first part about her brother leaving her, it would make sense sheâd make a version that wouldnât - not because she hates her brother, but because she doesnât want to be alone. Also, in the first part, the twins had their first real argument, and it tore each of them up, cutting them each extremely deeply. The only person she could count on to be there with her through thick and thin was leaving. In her perfect world, why wouldnât she make a version that would always stay and be there for her?
Finally, back to the first reason, as in the video Iâll link below, Alex Hirsch, the creator of the show himself explains the meaning behind Dipper and Mabelâs relationship and the message of âThe Time Travelerâs Pigâ. If you donât want to watch, it boils down to this - Dipper, in that episode needed to learn that you canât just win over your crush with one action, or one day. That if you just get this one thing right, everything will be perfect, because thatâs not how healthy relationships work. Hirsch even mentions how Mabel and Waddles are a good example of a healthy relationship.
Video Link:Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPLcOijFNpMÂ
(Iâd highly recommend watching the video, it explains a lot of the twins dynamic.)
Anyway, I hope this was easy to understand and answered your question, Megan!Â
Iâm completely new to the gravity falls fandom... why do people not like Mabel?
