Hi! I hope this question is ok, but I was wondering if you can help me find what brand made the attire for Tsiskaridze's graduating girls this year? I thought the tiered skirt style was so unique! The shirring and the short length in front+long length in back reminds me of theater curtains. Seems like some people really hate it, and I can understand that. It doesn't flow very elegantly and breaks up the clean lines of the girls' form. But the shape is so interesting and I've been wanting one for myself ever since the exam video dropped haha.
Anyway I assumed based on the color that it was made by Grishko as always, but I haven't been able to find it in any catalogues (even asked one of the flagship stores in my country and they said it didn't look like Grishko). Whoever made it, maybe it was Vaganova exclusive? Or maybe it's too new to be sold outside of Russia? I also don't know if Vaganova gets their uniforms from anyone besides Grishko, so maybe I'm just lacking information lolll. Anyway thank you!
Sorry for the late reply—I was actually trying to find this out for you! Today, one of the girls in his class finally got back to me, and she (and I quote) said the skirts are:
“brand by ✨Tsiskaridze✨”
(yes, she used the emojis too). So I guess that’s that!
It might be from a costume shop or a seamstress he knows. It could also be Grishko. I know for sure that the Academy has a sort of Grishko store, and that certain leotards are custom-made for the students. For example, the coffee-colored halter with an open back is by Grishko—but it’s not available to us mere mortals; it’s made just for them.
Of course, I’m speculating—it’s possible that a costume shop or seamstress created the entire outfit, from the tutu to the skirts and the leotard.
Or perhaps Tsiskaridze sewed them himself! 🧵✂️ who knows! For example pedagogue Tatiana Solomyanko sewed the leotards for her 6/I course this year, so in the exam her class is not wearing the coffee leotards but purplish one’s.
But if you’re looking for a brand which has a similar energy to those skirts, look up @ode_on_tutu , you won’t be disappointed! They have them also coffee coloured and pink!!
