if someone's the gay detectives fan and didn't know Murdle was a thing: let me introduce you to the best freaking clue book ever (which actually contains GAY DETECTIVES and you don't have to dig around and feel like you got queerbaited all the time)
I swear solving this is so entertaining, totally time consuming and also totally worth it!!
I'm only after the vol. 1 so if anyone has read the other two pls don't spoil it for me, I love those two idiots way too much

Just letting you all know, I've just put in an application for a Murdle Community, using key art from the website as the banner and icon! I will let you know if/when that gets approved, but given that it is an in beta feature with manual approval processes, I feel it best to let you know and keep you updated there.
Let's hope it works out! :D

S-38 Terror in the Tomb of Intuition
Can we all take a minute to appreciate that GT Karber is like the nicest person alive
Infinite gratitude <3
DON'T READ THE EPISODES WITHOUT READING THE BOOKS!!
A puff of purple sparkles blinds Logico as Irratino lands at the bottom of the chute and places him on the ground.
IRRATINO: Welcome… to the Tomb of Intuition! LOGICO: I don’t… like the sound of that.
Onyx and Cloud greet them, alongside a skeleton lizard named, cleverly, Bone.
BONE: Husellusoem.  LOGICO: I don’t like any of this, actually.
Irratino takes one more step and falls flat on his face. Logico is starting to remember this new side of him - an illogical statement.
IRRATINO: Wonderful. Someone used the entrance as a body chute. LOGICO: Ah. Of course I am the on-site homicide detective! IRRATINO: …I’ll tell you everything after.
He is holding a ruby key in his hands, obviously the key to something very important. But something is disturbing - according to Logico’s vision, this was the exact same type of key that was used to murder Isabel and Cheyenne, Irratino’s own parents. He must know this, right? If Logico knows?
ONYX: My plants are really talking to me now! It’s incredible. I’ve taught them so much. CLOUD: Little bird, you need to seek help.
They are debating under a decrepit banner that reads “THE FOUNDER”, along with various art pieces.
LOGICO: Pardon me. If you don’t mind, what exactly is “The Founder”? CLOUD: The founder of the Tomb of Intuition, brilliant detective. LOGICO: No, I mean the creepy art.
There’s a headless bust (so just shoulders), a painting with the face ripped off, and a delightful sarcophagus.
ONYX: We will not discuss the Founder as it is disrespectful to their grave. They are buried in that very casket, I’ll have you know.
Logico stares at it for a while. But then he looks back at the suspects, and finds the odd one out.
LOGICO: Who are you, anyway? I’ve never seen you on campus. BONE: Phusilusosusophuserum Busoneum! LOGICO: SPEAK WORDS IRRATINO: [sigh] I never hired him. Get out. BONE: Fusuckum! Dusamnum yusouum ausllum!
Irratino picks him up and throws him out the exit.
IRRATINO: Anyway, what I really needed to show you, was this. Follow me.
Logico holds his hand as they traverse deeper inside, reaching an inky cavern.
LOGICO: Who… is… the founder? Exactly? IRRATINO: It will all make sense in a moment. Welcome to the inner tomb.
Logico realizes he probably just joined a cult and is not going to make it out.
The end!

Tumblr media Tumblr media

British Book Award Honors Children's Author with Top Prize
Tumblr media
Katherine Rundell has been named author of the year at the British Book Awards - the first time in six years that a children's writer has picked up the accolade.
Rundell's latest release, fantasy adventure Impossible Creatures, also won the prize for children's fiction book of the year.
Other notable winners included GT Karber's murder-themed puzzle book Murdle, which was named overall book of the year at the ceremony in London.
And Rebecca F Kuang took the fiction book of the year award for the second year in a row.
This year, she won for Yellowface - which has been much talked about since its release - after triumphing in the same category with Babel in 2023.
Rundell is the first children's writer to be crowned author of the year since Philip Pullman in 2018.
She joins other recent winners including Marian Keyes, Richard Osman and Bonnie Garmus.
Impossible Creatures is the first novel in a new trilogy by Rundell, and was also named Waterstones book of the year for 2023.
Karber's Murdle was inspired by the addictive web-based game Wordle, and the US author and computer programmer joins previous winners EL James and Sally Rooney in winning the book of the year award.
His puzzle collection also won the prize for non-fiction lifestyle and illustrated book of the year.
Former Conservative MP Rory Stewart took home the non-fiction narrative book of the year prize for Politics on the Edge.
His memoir about life in Parliament beat high-profile autobiographies by the Duke of Sussex and Britney Spears, which were nominated in the same category.
Lisa Jewell won two prizes on the night - crime and thriller book of the year and audiobook fiction book of the year, both for None of This is True, her bestselling hardback in 20 years as an author.
The children's non-fiction award went to Atinuke's Brilliant Black British History, which was praised for its accessibility to children of all ages.
Elsewhere, Fern Brady's Strong Female Character, which won the audiobook non-fiction award, was described as "impactful and intimate" for its exploration of the author's autism.
Philip Jones, who chaired the judging panel, said: “Our winning authors, illustrators, and the teams behind their books showcase an industry at the height of its game and at the absolute centre of the creative sector.
"At a time when words and their meaning matter more than ever before, to see the world of books in such excellent health is surely something to celebrate."

So I guess the real big question of the Murdle Falls AU is “why is Irratino pretending to be a perfectly normal human to the point of retconning everyone’s memories to think he was there the whole time”. Unless, of course, the answer is “for funsies”, because that’s an answer I could see a less-crazy Bill Cipher giving :P
(Semi-related, here’s a Dreamscaperers-esque pitch for you—Irratino catches wind that one of the kids he’s grown to care about has a dad who f&$%ing sucks, and starts tormenting him in his dreams for a laugh. And something something learning your lesson or whatever. It’s mostly about petty revenge, though. Olivia realizes something is wrong once her dad starts suffering the events of several nights worth of poor sleep, which gets confirmed when he mutters something about a “dream demon”.
So the kids do some research, dig up some info on entering dreamscapes, and off to fight the dream demon they go! (Mildly reluctantly, in Jake and Julius’s case. They don’t get along with Indigo, he doesn’t get along with them, but hey, he is their friend’s dad and she’s pretty distraught by this whole ordeal.) Anyway, uh, lord knows how that adventure plays out, but they probably do manage to scare the demon away. For now.
And now, they’ve got a new mystery to solve—what the HECK was that all about, who was that, and why did he target Olivia’s dad?! What could he be planning? Could others be next? They gotta figure this out *fast*.
Can you tell I’m a chronic overthinker? :V)
Very good question!! One I only have vibes for rather than a concrete answer, alas- It depends on how involved the institute cast is, I suppose? If they're a part of Gravity Falls, then Irratino is just here for funsies. If they're still in whatever nightmare realm Irratino hails from, then Irratino is trying to find a way to get back to them (or get them to this realm- He does miss his friends a lot) but that also raises the question of how he got here and why, so uh. What is he doing here? I sadly don't really know. But I will soon and I am absolutely open to suggestions!! Maybe he's just here for funsies and sightseeing!!
As for the pitch, I have a lot more thoughts around that (Thank you for sending your fantastic ideas into my inbox btw!!!)
Not only is this idea just super cool, it also plays in perfectly with my idea of this Irratino's fatal flaw: He doesn't take things seriously enough. It's all just fun and games to him, and he doesn't quite get that maybe his ideas will hurt more than they help. Especially with just how much power he has- He just sees it as fun, maybe a learning tool! The kids like DD&MD, what's a LARPing dream for them but a fun time? Olivia's dad is a pain, his relationship with Olivia is complicated at best and Indigo and Logico seem to hate each other, what's a few nightmares about the importance of taking time off and being nice? To Irratino, it's nothing much. To everyone else? It's maybe a little more impactful.
Olivia's absolutely worried about her dad- Usually he only gets this sleep deprived before a product release when everything has to go right, but it's been a relaxing year for him and suddenly he's plagued by nightmares? Weirdly personal nightmares? Olivia starts asking a few questions and learns about a mysterious "dream demon" her dad keeps saying he saw and does some digging- Research online, asking Julius questions because he knows about this stuff, asking Jake what her thoughts are because maybe she's got a down to earth idea about all this. A few borrowed and """"borrowed"""" items from Irratino and they're able to track down this dream demon, and they're able to chase away this demon and let Indigo sleep again! Though, things are strange the next morning: Why was Indigo targeted like this? Why does Irratino seem to be acting a little off the next day, staring at the kids with a little more curiosity and something more guarded?
It'd also be a really interesting look into Indigo's mindscape: You know how Stan's is a freaky version of the Mystery Shack? Indigo's is his dreams of TekTopia- Organized yet sprawling, all consuming, a monument to his achievements and dreams. And you know how Dipper sees a memory of Stan talking about how he's trying to show him some tough love? Oh yeah, we get a scene like that with Indigo talking to Mauve about how the corporate world is ruthless- Building this empire wasn't easy and he wants to make sure Olivia can handle it, because there's more to it than just debugging code. She'll have to handle herself in harsh, stressful environments and make sure people know she's boss and Indigo is trying his best to teach her those things. Indigo does love his daughter, after all, even if he kinda sucks as a guy.
Also, the aftermath is fascinating to think about, especially timeline wise: If this is the first time the kids realize there's an entity that can see them in dreams, how do they now try and defend against it? How do they figure out its motives? From Irratino's perspective, if the kids know about his dream meddling capabilities, how does he handle that? Does he shy away or embrace these abilities more? And once Logico learns about the collected dream that the three kids have had, how does he handle it? Is it just the kids being too imaginative, like how they're believing in unicorns and gnomes? Or is Logico going to have to confront his own biases and beliefs about what's real and possible? And, hell, is he going to have to choose who to believe between the enigmatic man he's falling in love with or the kids he's taken under his wing? Is he going to have to protect those kids against the man he loves?
As you can see I'm incredibly normal about this AU hahaha- Thank you so much for the ask!!
