"The cartel B plot of Better Call Saul is boring."
YOU'RE boring.
#better call saul#sorry you can't enjoy two excellent interwoven narrative threads at the same time#RIP to you but I'm different#I also can't fathom how new characters like LALO (of all people) and nacho are boring#or how it's boring that we learn what makes Gus and Mike tick#what the hell man#breaking bad

âď¸ â closed starter for @dcgtown from oakley gibson to gus aldridge
drink in hand, they turn to gus and exhale loudly. oakley's nerves are alight. "so could you give me the rundown of who everyone is? like, anyone that we might be talking to anyway?" they know fin, obviously, and the newly married couple, but the connections between everyone else at the reception is a blur for them. "i've been so pigeon-holed this week focusing on our next video that i didn't even think to ask before now." them getting the invite as gus' plus one is an honor, and it's not one that they want to fumble.

i knew that wkx is callous and cruel in guzhu mode but these past few days i spent time seeing it in slowmotion because im gathering material for my wip. combing through these scenes with wkx and the ghost valley women is really tough. hes so mean, hes such an asshole, hes such a jerk. and its so intriguing and gutpunching because these are moments when he starts out alone, drinking or being tended to by a servant, introspective. lqq or lfm or gu xiang join him, and theyre in an entirely different mood, and they need something from him in some way. theyre putting their own vulnerability on display, theyre reaching out a hand to him. and he ,, doesnt handle it well.
there is this scene with lfm when they share a moment of genuine connection and tell each other of their thoughts and intentions. and even though wkx is more open here, even though this is after he has been domesticated by being around his a-xu and looking after zcl, a ghost remembering being human, and even though hes telling lfm of his original plan for the jianghu in order to make her understand his growth, that he has seen the error of his ways, it still shakes her up, and his willingness to listen to her advise doesnt seem enough to smooth things over so fast.
i dont know where im going with this, just that wkx has this pattern in how he behaves around others who have the unfortunate luck to be listening to him, and it transitions from different shades of distrust and disbelief to open disgust and bitterness, and it always has him fall into cussing out the people in power who hurt him, and it never fails to take a toll on those listening. hes not emotionally available when like this, and you can see how hard it is for those around to reach him
#my thoughts#my fmv#wen kexing#women of ghost valley#liu qianqiao#gu xiang#luo fumeng#word of honor#obvs im like#skipping over stuff#wkx is a multifacetted creature and his#relationships with these women cant be#reduced to just this#that scene im mentioning with lfm has many different elements too#aside from what im remarking upon#its just that im seeing a parallel her#e#a thread that connects all these scenes with each other#its fascinating seeing it back to back#going through all these scenes directly one after another#(i could be completely wrong about why lfm is exiting the stage too#i didnt look at the dialogue im just going off body language here)

[ BLOOD ]Â sender notices that receiver is bleeding.
"it's nothing." jack is dismissive, waving his hand, trying to get the other to stop fussing over his face. it's not like it's the first time it's happened. "s'all part of the game, baby. least i didn't get my teeth knocked out this time." there was always a bright side. "besides, i think like, half of this isn't even mine." // @mysteryoflovc

semi-vent/semi-headcanon but making specifically a police officer the narrator (lockstock) was kind of crazy and perfect because like. they have the ego to be narrators. does that even make sense? you could argue that it's because he's in the middle between the rich and the poor because he's part of the law, but that's not true because cops are intrinsically harmful and biased. in a way, lockstock is an unreliable narrator. he's still violent to the poor when he's not narrating. he still kills bobby. from a story-telling point of view, this doesnt matter because to the audience he's more of a narrator than he is a cop, but from the point of view of the poor people, officer lockstock kills one of their own. i feel like there's a joke there that lockstock doesn't actually protect the city because he's too busy narrating, and when he does, he's just as violent as barrel.
#urinetown#this one might be grasping at threads but i had an experience today where i called 911 because i was worried about the wellbeing of this gu#who was literally fucking sleeping in a bush and i was worried he was fucking dead or something so i called 911 and they sent a cop to chec#and he was literally just like âyeah i know who that is. i know his name that's just what he does he's fineâ#like they dont fucking do anything man#this sounds really naive and privileged and it is and i feel so fucking shitty about that but the more i become aware of fucked up shit tha#goes on in reality the more i realize how fucked up urinetown is and would be#i mean they REALLY hit the nail on the head with that play#and i dont mean to like project that experience onto some stupid musical im still worried about that guy and it was a shitty experience but#its a paralell i noticed a couple hours ago and feel like people should know about? maybe not idk its been a long day#delete later probably

CLOSED for @flcralhaze , however long while/after the french army sweeps the sleeping quarters.
gus's skin still feels alight, his pulse still thrums from his previous disastrous encounter with karolina. a hand sinks through his hair and shakes it, hoping to regain more of himself after a piece of him is left behind with them. it is only irony that he runs into another mackenzie soon after. when his eyes flicker back up, recognition dawns on him immediately. zehra looks starky different than the young girl ( annoying older sister ) he knew her to be, but he never forgets a face. "the lady mackenzie," he sighs, humorless under his smirk. "should've known this was a familiar affair. you scots and your tendencies to do everything together. remember me? your dear sibling sure didn't." words that sting in his mouth, and he bares his teeth through it.Â

closed starter @persephonyed / made with BETA
Gus was surprised that she agreed to the initial interview. It did take a fair share of convincing as Gus tried to manage the balance between focus and being a little too overzealous. The last thing he wanted was to lose a good contact. A first person's perspective was just what his documentary needs to be something great. That being said he was aware this was much bigger than his passion project. There were lives in the mix here. People who were still very much alive were effected by this cult and he wanted to handle it with as much care as possible while getting right to the truth of it all. It wasn't always an easy ask. For somebody with a big heart he didn't always have the best tact.
Needless to say he was counting his blessings when Margot agreed to meet with him again. She even offered to show him some items from her past. "Thank you for showing me this," he says, eyes finding her from across the room before falling back to the photograph in his hands. "Is that you?"
#//i went with a second meeting vibe but tried to keep it open if there was a lil trust building or if she's still quite wary of him!#player 1: august aldridge#gus & margot (thread)#gus (thread)#persephonyed

is in a violent nature just a boring movie based on a misconceived idea (hard to make a slasher movie where you follow the slasher interesting bc you always know what hes going to do next and spend no time with any of the victims to care about any of them even a little) or is it actually a genius deconstruction of the genre (you could also say most other slasher movies have predictable killers and shallow victims that only exist to justify a kill scene, this movie is just taking that to the extreme).
#the greatest thread of all time locked after--#avpost#i felt validated scrolling thru lbxd when someone mentioned it feeling like gus van sant#bc prior to reading that during my Car Ride Movie Unpacking i literalllllyyyy brought up gerry 2002. gvs is in the room.#im a real Film Understander i guess you could say i Get Movies. everyone agree with me forever.#movie diary#anyway i literally liked skinamarink so my tolerance for slow and nothing-happens experimental horror is THERE. but this didnt work 4 me.

@tclkrefined ( joanna & gus ) Location: the Scottish Apartments Time: just before the searches
In a frantic hasten, Joanna entered into the Scottish apartments, fearing for the very worst. No doubt if they had turned over her trunk, theyâd soon find her marriage certificate buried beneath dresses. Luckily, her ring was secure around her neck. That, they could not take away from her. To her relief, she saw a friend, a fellow traveler whom sheâd had many run-ins with over the years. âGusâŚâ she breathed, one hand fallen to her heart as she strode towards him, one hand taking his in hers. At last, there was someone here to help, âThank goodness youâre here. Perhaps you can talk some sense into the French scum.â

đ¤ I know that Hector called Gus "Generalissimo" but I think it would make a lot more sense for Gus to have been in DINA (Chile's secret police) rather than an outright soldier...
#Me trying to connect the tiny threads of Gus backstory like the Charlie Day pepe silva meme#I actually kinda like how vague and loose it is because it leaves room for interpretation#Hmmmmmmm he definitely did some sketchy as fuck shit in Chile under Pinochet's regime#Considering his 'protected' status (Hector commenting he's only alive because he Knows Who He Is) + scrubbing his own records#malhare.txt

đ (wrapped meme) - from august (@gccdwitch) Too Slow - Maude Latour
âGet in the fucking car! Weâre going out!â Was Ches going to be pissed when she found out SĂŠb was not only off doing hijinks, but was dragging August down with him? Probably because as much as he loved his cousin, she was an absolute killjoy when it came to work but it wasnât like sheâd know as long he got August back in time to finish up whatever song he was writing today, right? âAnd before you say no because you hate it, you hate everything. Itâll be fun.â

it would take time, but bronte had full confidence that she could manage to melt through even the coldest of protective outer shells. she would have gus captive within her little complex, with plenty of opportunities to indoctrinate him into her way of life, slowly gaining his favor as he saw that she wasn't the dastardly villain he painted her out to be, but an altruistic, genuine person with pure intentions. they wanted the same thing, at the end of the day; for his brother to be safe and comfortable, and for the two to live a life of relative freedom. the big difference was their view of what "freedom" meant but surely he would come to see things her way over time. lips pursed in disappointment as gus turned down her offer, though she was expecting as much. still, she had to extend the olive branch, if for nothing else than to make sure he knew he was wanted just as much as rufus was. "that's alright," she brushed off her disappointment with a shrug and an easy smile. "you'll have to let me cook for you at some point, though. i'm guessing you don't get many home cooked meals at the shelter..." the way to a man's heart wasn't directly through his stomach, but she'd found that cooking for someone always helped soften them up at least a little bit. at least he seemed more fixated on her than his brother, though whether that be to keep an eye on the snake to make sure it didn't strike, or because he really was somewhat intrigued by her, bronte couldn't quite place. "anytime! get home safe." it wouldn't be his home for much longer, but the sentiment was all the same. now alone with rufus, she directed her gaze down at him laid on her lap, allowing him to let off some steam with a knowing smile. "it's just because he cares about you... he's had to look after you for so long, he doesn't know how to let go and allow you to make your own decisions. old habits die hard, y'know?" following his guidance, she began gently stroking his hair, petting him like a spoiled house cat while he continued to go off on his brother, allowing him to get it out of his system rather than trying to redirect his energy elsewhere. he seemed to come to his senses of his own volition, cutting himself off mid-sentence and taking a deep breath to reset his emotions back to a neutral state just as she'd taught him. "don't get all worked up over it. you got what you wanted, right?" she reminded him gently, trying to reframe his frustration into something positive. it was all too easy to set him off into a downward spiral, but she was pleased to see that her teachings had at least somewhat began to have an effect on him. just like with his brother, he needed much more time to fully heal from a lifetime of trauma and repression, and lucky for him, bronte had all the time in the world to devote to him. "mmmm... i was thinking pasta? i just got this fancy pesto from the farmer's market, i could roast some chicken, maybe make some garlic bread? or we could always order delivery if you wanna try something new." the hand brushing through his hair came around to gently stroke his cheek, gazing down at him with a fondness reserved only for him. "you name it, i'll make it happen. we are celebrating, after all."
after spending every day together since they were children, it was hard to imagine that he would no longer share the kind of closeness with rufus that they used to. granted, their closeness was a result of their father's overbearing nature, but even with their fights, gus was certain that he wouldn't have survived out there on his own for as long as he had without feeling like his brother needed him. that feeling was no longer prevalent though, rufus had found someone else who could look after him and fulfil other needs that his brother couldn't, leaving gus out of the job and forced into searching for a new purpose. if only his brother had found someone trustworthy, someone who didn't seem to have a habit of picking up lonesome little strays, maybe then gus wouldn't have fought so hard to pull him away. he tried to tame the look of disgust on his face over their brazen displays of affection for each other but it was to little use, and it only grew as bronte winked across at him and invited him to stay. as crazy as it was, he was eager to get back to the shelter and enjoy one last night of his idea of freedom before becoming shackled once again thanks to rufus' endless need for attention. "no thanks." with that, gus stood up and brought his half-finished bottle of beer with him, quickly downing what was left before placing it down. "i think i'll leave you two to it." he looked over to his brother but found his eyes still focused on bronte, as though he wasn't in the room at all. gus swallowed back his annoyance and forced a smile onto his tense features. "thanks for the beer." with that, gus left with no fuss at all, with only the door slamming shut behind him an indicator of his true feelings.
"he is such an asshole." rufus sighed dramatically a few long seconds after the door slammed closed, then dropped his head down into bronte's lap like a ragdoll. only his brother, king of the self-righteous pricks, could find a way to be disappointed about the opportunity to move out from the shelter into a luxurious home the likes of which they had never seen before. no need to slave away with jobs they hated, existing just to put food on the table, they had a proper chance at fulfilment now and rufus was going to grab it with both hands even if gus wanted to refuse. "always treating me like i'm a kid..." he clumsily reached up to grab bronte's hand, then brought it down to rest atop his head so she could stroke through his unruly curls. "don't take any of his shit personally... i don't think he's ever liked something in his whole life. his brain would probably explode with the effort not to be such an uptight-" before he could continue his tirade, rufus forced himself to take a moment, like bronte had taught him to do when he got too overly excited, and took in a long breath in through his nose then out from his mouth. there was no point in continuing to rant and rave about gus, he was impossible and while he had bronte all to himself, the last thing he wanted to do was waste that time talking about his brother. "what're we having for dinner?" rufus flopped over so that he could peer up at her from his place comfy on her lap. after spending his entire life living off of hunted animals and foraged plants, the elaborate meals of normal people were a new and exciting prospect to him.

she had warned gus about catching feelings. it wasn't that she didn't like him, or was opposed to being in a relationship - but right now, elisa was being cautious. one too many times she had gotten her heart broken and besides, it was time to focus on herself.
...but then there's a knock at her door and when she opens it, he's on the other side, holding a beautiful pastel bouquet of flowers. some of her favorites were in there, she could see. mouth opens and closes. she doesn't know what to say. "those are for me?" was all she could come up with, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. // @mysteryoflovc
