Watching Psych for the first time and Gus’ parents get arrested and they’re crying that they need to leave Gus in the care of his grandmother who lives in a nursing home.

His parents are so cute and Shawn and Henry are so adorable with their present game.

I think one of my favorite aspects of this episode is getting to see SHAWN exasperated with Gus' antics and still find little ways to support him lol. they are just so best friend and I love it

Psych 2006 is a beautiful beautiful thing because I can get my fix of silly buddy cop procedural without the usual guilt of copoganda because the police in psych can’t get anything done right without their manic pixie dream psychic and his tap-dancing best friend

The Shawn & Gus dynamic in Psych is so subtly yet beautifully shaped by the fact that they cast a naturally deadpan introvert to play the world's most hyperactive attention-seeking detective, then cast a chronic theater kid to play his supposedly boring, reasonable best friend

I’m so glad they made Gus smart. I’m so glad they made Gus a teammate that speaks his mind and rolls his eyes at the “wacky but cool and always right” protagonist. I’m so glad that he’s a real person who has a life and a job and his own skillsets that rival yet complement Shawn’s. Shawn is fun and makes sure he’s the focal point of the show but I really think the show would be empty without Gus.

If Psych only followed Shawn I’m convinced I would find him irritating and, at times, unwatchable. But there’s something about Gus being there and being exasperated and yet backing Shawn up and correcting him when he’s wrong and Shawn actually listening that makes them. the best duo.

Here’s the dialogue in case people cannot read my shit print (I’m used to writing in cursive, sorry- Lol.)

Lassie: What are you doing, Spencer?.. *he is looking down from his horse.*

Shawn: *laying on ground on a flat rock. Basking in the sun* Soakin’ up some rays, Lassie. You should try it. All the koalas do it and look at the coats on those little guys.

Gus: *also on his horse* that’s amphibians and reptiles, Shawn.. and you’re not a lizard.

Shawn: I’ve heard it both ways.

Gus: No, no you haven’t.

Shawn: Gus, don’t be the sand in shorts on a hot summer day. It’s not sexy.

Gus: *huffs & sighs* You’re lying on sand right now, Shawn…

Shawn: There’s no need for technicalities, Gus, but if we must do them, I’m technically on a rock, not sand. So, better luck next time, buddy.

Gus: *scoffs* Yeah, a rock made of SANDstone and we are in a desert, Shawn, so-

Lassie: *rolls his eyes* If you two are done, some of us have actual police work to do..

Shawn: is that what that is? I thought this was you taking on an opportunity to show off that sweet & sexy, salt & pepper bush.

Lassie: *scoffs and looks away flustered*

Gus: Gross, Shawn..

Again, I was thinking of making a fantasy Psych AU, maybe even some more House MD/Ethical Omens MD art? I’ll have to seen. My burnout phase sucks rn. I’m very exhausted. TvT
