I almost feel ridiculous for how excited it made me to connect two-and-two together with Tulip's dyslexia after the most recent episode and a few other little hints from season one. Idk if it's because they've focused SO MUCH on the details of her character and her past but it's just so cool to me since children in the system/children coming from abusive backgrounds often develop learning disabilities ??

YES WELL SAID! I think this is absolutely 100% deliberate. 

This reminds me of when I predicted something far more trivial - Tulip loving sweets. After the vanilla extract hashbrown scene, I thought there was more to that recipe than it being a one-off thing. I developed a headcanon that Tulip really REALLY loves sweet things and couldn’t have them a lot when she was younger so she sort of overcompensates now. Every time she and Jesse got fast food during their Life on the Road she’d get a milkshake/smoothie/softserve if at all possible. She goes wild on Halloween and gives every kid she sees candy whether they ask for it or not. She can’t eat strawberries unless she sprinkles sugar on top first. That sort of thing.

Just goes to show that the little details are important on this show, and they put a hell of a lot of thought into why and how these characters are the way they are.

The amount of men who’ve mistaken me for a woman over the years is hilarious.” Only really amusing because they could defend themself if it went SOUTH after that point. They could drop a guy before he had a change to utter a full slur in their direction if they needed to.

Honestly my first thought was "is he trying to fuck jesse up so he can get to tulip?" but Jesse had just battered the shit out of Cassidy and it was only natural for him to kinda just go "you know what, sure, i'd do the same, you do you. whatever." I hope people don't make Cassidy out to be the "baddie" of the ep when jesse, well...he was a dick to everyone.

yeah there was definite moral ambiguity in cassidy’s actions to be sure, and it’s inexcusable, if understandable, how jesse’s actions lead him to be selfish - though he went in with good intentions.

I know I shouldn't just jump to conclusions about the motives of Cassidy. I believe, I know, show Cassidy is a far different animal than comic Cassidy and Jesse had just chewed him to shreds and I'd probably be petty too... I'm not going to allow that tiny, worried voice in the back of my mind any chance to fester

Basically, his motives started out good and then became bad. I’m sure there’s more shit to come, but I think it’s important to remember that all these characters have many sides, and anything that does happen will very likely be more morally complicated than what the comics gave us - that has certainly been the case with all three of these characters so far.

He loved Tulip, god, he loved her, but he really needed her to be quiet right now. She didn't understand that she couldn't be her brave self. Bravery would get her killed.

"Don't kill her," he said, feeling like a little kid again. "She hasn't done anything, don't kill her."

Marie didn't seem to listen.

"Is that what he's told you?" laughed Marie.

Tulip looked at him. Her eyes were big, and even though she was talking back, he could see she was scared. Jody was still pointing the gun at her.

"Take him to the coffin," said Marie. "Jody, deal with her."

T.C. grabbed Jesse by his arms and started pulling him to the door, but he fought against it.

"Stop!" he shouted, struggling against T.C. "Don't touch her!"
