Franz, typing on his phone: Please, google translate. Can I say crass? Yes!
The funny thing is that he has started to use "krass" not in the Jugendsprache way but in a way that is much closer to the original academic use in the 18th century.
Also the word comes from the latein word "crassus", which sounds like some german teen was trying to make "krass" sound latein, so they could use the word in latein class for their teacher to say that's an actual latein word AND the origin of "krass". The teen would then feel obligated to say "... krass", making them the funniest teen in the entire Gymnasium or something, I don't know, we went to the Realschule.

So I was just peacefully writing, when all of a sudden, I realised I had no idea about what I was writing.
So naturally, I go and research.
Now what was I researching? Well, I wanted to find out how the american school system works. You know, basic shit. How many years are there, how old you have to be for each one, what years are part of middle school, which are high school, bla bla. You get what I mean.
So, I search it up...
Tumblr media
Why am I getting results for the one school system I already know? The one I already fought my way through? Not to mention under 'high school easy explained'. Bitch we don't have a high school!
We have four years to learn the basics and then get sent to one of three options (+ a few extras) depending on our grades in fourth grade and then either go through hell for another five, six, eight or nine years (fucking gymnasium schools not being able to make up their mind)
The closest we have to high schools, at least in terms of how many grades exist, is what we refer to as a 'gymnasium' in german, not to be confused with the english version of it. That gym would either be called 'Sporthalle/Turnhalle' when in reference to school or 'Fitnessstudio' (God, that is way too many 'S' after one another) Although there could be some other similarities I'm not aware of, since I didn't attend one, I went for the middle ground and had six extra years in a secondary modern school (Also refered to as a 'Realschule' in german)
Thank you for coming to my mess of a rant, I'm going to bed.
Good night.

1/2 I'm reading all this "american school system makes no sense" discourse & just lol my german heart out. Ok first in Germany you go to Elementary from 1-4 (so you're 9/10 when finishing) *then* you have to decide if you want to go university later & pic 1 of 3 schools (there's a 4th one, we don't talk about the 4th one) Hauptschule, Realschule, Gymnasium. If you pick one of the first 2 you go there til 10th grade (making you 16/17) & then try to find an apprenticeship (which involves practical
2/2 work & Berufsschule aka school) for profession you want to do. If you pick the 3rd you go there from 5-12/13 (I explain later) get your Abitur (like a degree) & only *then* are allowed to go to college. Now here's the 'fun' part: every state has different rules for those 3 schools. Some state insist on min. 10th grade, others allow only 9. Some states mix geography & ecconomy, some don't. Some states go til 12th grade, others til 13th. Moving in Germany when you're in school is 'fun'.
Okay, that also sounds like a nightmare, but I’m stuck on one thing--this mysterious 4th school nobody talks about. I’m imagining it’s like Professor Xavier’s school for mutants now!
