Cartoon Heroes Paper Cut-Outs
Archer
Created by Adam Reed for the FX Network, Archer is an animated action/comedy that follows the exploits of a bumbling, volatile secret agent named Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin). Archer and his dysfunctional colleagues conduct various secret agent missions across the globe whist contended with office politics and romance against a backdrop of an anachronistic parody of Cold War-era espionage thrillers.
The philandering and narcissistic Sterling Archer works for the International Secret Intelligence Service (or ISIS), a top secret intelligence agency. Fellow ISIS members include Malory Archer (retired field agent-turned-ISIS director and Sterling's abusive mother); Lana Kane (Sterling’s on-and-off lover and the mother of his daughter); Ray Gillette (the agency's flamboyantly gay bomb specialist); Pam Poovey (the foolish but exceptionally skilled human resources supervisor-turned-agent); and Dr. Algernop Krieger (the agency's bizarre, ghoulish and morally bankrupt scientist).
Archer premiered in September of 2009 and ran for 14 seasons. Along with H. Jon Benjamin, the ensemble voice cast includes Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Chris Parnell, Aisha Tyler, Lucky Yates and Jessica Walter.

H. Jon Benjamin is my guest tonight, which means we’re talking #Archer, #BobsBurgers, and that time he played a can of mixed vegetables in #WetHotAmericanSummer—a résumé unmatched in modern voice acting or produce history.
Also spinning: The Cramps (sleaze and swagger), Rockpile (pub rock kings), Slade (glam chaos), The Cult (goth with riffs), The Police (before the tantric years), Midnight Oil (shouting the truth), The Unicorns (blessed weirdos), and new music from Wishy.
6p ET on WFPK. Come for the voice, stay for the vibe.

I’ve recently started watching Bob’s Burgers, and, as always when I see something with H. Jon Benjamin, there’s such a huge feeling of dissonance because my brain associates him so strongly with Coach McGuirk from Home Movies.
Then I just learned earlier this week that Bob’s Burgers was created by Loren Bouchard, the same guy who did Home Movies. Now a lot of things make a lot more sense. And the more I think about it, Bob’s Burgers does have a very similar vibe to Home Movies; the whole dynamic of children who are very adult-like and adults who are very childish, the tendency to have male voice actors play female characters, even the animation style reminds me vaguely of Home Movies (at least the later seasons, after they got rid of the shaky line style). If you like Bob’s Burgers and haven’t seen Home Movies, you definitely should go track it down and watch it. It really is something amazing.

I just watched Boy Kills World.
I haven't heard people talk about this. I saw, maybe 2 ads for it on youtube, and wrote it down after the simple pitch of "action movie with a mute/deaf protagonist, narrated by H. John Benjamin as their internal monologue.
And that was it. I'm glad I remembered to watch it because I've had no reminders about its existence since.
It was good!
Not for everyone due to levels of violence, but it was good action, intermingled with levity that was legitimately funny. All while telling a compelling narrative that had believable characters.
I haven't written a movie review in a long time, but this movie made me want to change that.
All said though, I'm not sure if i have anything else to mention.
It delivers on the premise, it has fantastic acting, its entertaining in its action, comedy, and narrative.
Highly recommended.

Boy Kills World film review Director(s): Moritz Mohr Main cast: Bill Skarsgärd, H. Jon Benjamin, Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Famke Janssen, Brett Gelman, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Isaiah Mustafa and Sharlto Copely. Runtime: 111 minutes. Basic Plot: In a post-apocalyptic world, a deaf and mute orphan enacts revenge against those who murdered his family. The protagonist is aided by years of intense training, comrades and his inner voice. Caution Warning: ⁃ Blood and gore Overall Thoughts: Boy kills world is an interesting action thriller. The choreography, costumes, special effects and acting are good. In addition, there is also a great plot twist. However, there are some legitimate problems with this film. First, Bill Skarsgärd is not deaf or mute, making him an inappropriate actor to play a death and mute character. There are plenty of deaf actors, meaning that the casting people have no reasonable cause to not hire an actor from that community. Secondly, actor Brett Gelman is a Zionist who strongly supports the State of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Aside from these issues, Boy kills world is still an entertaining action film. Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

The Bob's Burgers Movie

Movies watched in 2024
The Bob's Burgers Movie (2022, USA)
Directors: Loren Bouchard & Bernard Derriman
Writers: Loren Bouchard & Nora Smith
Mini-review:
I've been a casual watcher of Bob's Burgers for a while now, and I felt like it was finally time to see the movie. The show's stories have always been pretty low-key and low-stakes, so I was curious to find out how they would translate that into a feature length film. And they actually pulled it off! Sure, this time the plot has a bigger scope, but it still feels plausible within the show's universe. And most importantly, the movie keeps all the humor and heart that makes the show so lovable and compelling. I must admit it was a bit weird to see these characters and settings with big-budget animation and film-style cinematography, but once you get used to that, it feels as warm and genuine as ever. To sum up, if you have ever enjoyed this show (even as a casual watcher like me), then you can't miss out on the movie version.
