i really do believe in eddie coming home without telling buck. and not just for the nde potential of that. but like. will mention or no will mention. we know eddie's fond of these grand gestures of devotion to buck. we know this is his go-to when buck has been spiralling and yet somehow a steady support throughout. and buck's going to be missing them but he's going to encourage eddie to stay in el paso with chris when things get hard so of course eddie's going to surprise him with this. with coming home. and once buck is over the shockawesurprisewonder of christopher and eddie on his doorstep he'll ask why eddie didn't tell him and eddie will just give him a soft teasing little grin and say "i just wanted to see your dumb face all surprised" and buck will huff a laugh and call him an ass and everything will be perfect but. buck will still wonder why eddie didn't tell him. analyse it to death in a way he never did with the will because he was scared to look too closely. but this is easier right. and eddie will sit there knowing he didn't tell buck they were coming home because that would have been a confession he wasn't ready for. like showing up on buck's doorstep wasn't a confession itself.
