Okay Tumblr, I’m about to get real with you for a minute. Really (really) real. Sometimes it takes certain experiences to break open things inside of you that you thought would be in the dark forever, or maybe you didn’t even know they existed at all. For me, it was meeting a fictional character in a beautiful book. I have been so so vain. Tumblr, you are my only social media profile left, because I have deleted all of the rest. For too long now I have been taking too many photos, chasing after the best angle that would get me the most likes or shares. Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. I know that I am not alone in this whole seeking validation on social media thing. Typically, when I posted a picture, I would get the amount of likes I wanted, and it would give me a false sense of security in thinking that those likes defined my worth. But when I didn’t get the amount of likes that seemed to deem me as a human being who had worth and value and was maybe sort of beautiful, it truly affected me negatively. At times, I got a shot of myself that I knew accentuated all of the curves in all of the right places, and my face looked ethereal. I was vain, and I liked the attention. This morphed into doing these things in real life. Leading to a plethora of immoral and lowly behavior that only did me harm. Then I met Rhysand. I was inspired. By his story, by his loyalty, by his selflessness. You can fault me for being such an avid reader all you want, but keep in mind, that’s all people did before tv, cell phones, theaters, etc. Shakespeare, Einstein, Twain, Lincoln, C.S. Lewis, and so on. They all loved to read. Rhysand taught me a lot. About unconditional love, that is sometimes painful and selfless and full of loss and heartache; about honor, that is sometimes seemingly unfair; about joy, that is sometimes born from some very dark places. This. This is why I love Tumblr so much. It isn’t full of family drama, selfies, general vainness, or any of that nonsense. It is full of my favorite form of art: words. Words and art; real art. It’s a place to express yourself and not care how many likes and notes you get. (At least for me). I’m not saying the other social media sites are bad. Everything in moderation, right? Also, consider your motives when posting. Are they good, healthy even? If not, then it may be a good time to reflect. Be brave, friends. I think your story sounds really interesting from that summary :) I've been writing since I was 16 but never been able to finish a first draft because I keep changing my mind about my plot halfway through *facepalm* but seeing your posts on my dash about your book gives me motivation to keep writing. Good luck on getting your's published! =D

Thank you :) I really hope it does get published but at this point I’m not so sure, because well 1) I still need to actually finish editing it and 2) I need to set myself up with an agent. 

But don’t give up writing, even it seems really hard at first (and most of the time it really is hard). Not a lot of people can come up with whole worlds on their own, let alone work through them to make these people/characters come alive - alive enough that they seem real and make readers want to help them and feel something for them. But really, keep writing because one day you’ll come across gold and everything will fit itself together :) Trust me! Because I’ve been wanting to write a book since I was 10 and it’s been almost 10 years since then and I’m just now able to finish a complete book. It’s like a miracle come true haha (though I’m still not done). So keep working on it okay?

oh no

when i was 14, it was 2009

i was entering high school and for some reason, i was a really big cobra starship fan. i got into a lot of bands that year so i’d probably be a band blog. 

i would be blogging about how much i hated silly bandz and all the drama that happened at school. AND TWILIGHT. I WOULD BE BLOGGING ABOUT JACOB/NEW MOON ALL THE TIME.

A quick doodle of my favourite elven couple for Valentines Day.

Elrond and Celebrían just enjoying a quiet moment alone together. It’s been awhile since I’ve drawn them and that needed to be rectified it.

I actually really like this simplified non-rendered style and it’s pretty quick too! In total this took me about two hours and a half :3

The Swearing of the Mournival

This was definitely one of those paintings that was a trust the process. I’m not great at backgrounds but I don’t think this turned out too badly.
