I'm a woodworker, musician, and gamer from the PNW. Also I have ADHD which means I have a squirrel for a brain.

I have a particular interest in musicoarchaelogy, folk instruments, and historical instruments. I also collect and restore antique and vintage tools occasionally. Some of my handplanes are almost 100 years old.

I kind of got into woodworking and luthiery because it seemed like the only way I'd ever get to play some of these instruments was if I built my own. Now somehow I'm running a wood shop specializing in hardwoods and interior finishing.

True story, before I got the job I went there to buy cherry wood, and got sold white oak instead. Partly my fault for being too novice to recognize it, but also the hardwood section was dark, disorganized, and messy. I joked that I should get a job there just to organize it and fix the problem.

A year later I was running the wood shop.

Wood working is in my blood. Dad's family ran a sawmill for 3 generations and a lot of our furniture was built by my great Uncle, or later my dad. My mom's dad was a carpenter. I inherited some of his tools which had been in storage since he passed away the early 70s. He was also a musician, and I first learned guitar from my uncle, on grampy's old acoustic.

I'll be posting projects, research, inspirations, and ramblings here.

technology and stuff has gotten so overly productive that a job should really just be a "Oh yeah bud, show up and click a button here or there twice a day. That's it. Here's 50,000 dollars" regardless of it's the most simple and menial thing. There's things I would love to do like being a carpenter and furniture builder. I envision waking up early, drinking a hot and acrid cup of coffee, putting on my bibs and boots, and walking out to the shop bright and early while the air is crisp. With a slow day of just the sound of saws, rasps, and a freshly sharpened handplane being pushed over wood. Knowing that at the end of the day, I helped furnish a home, and made something that will bring comfort and utility to families for decades, maybe even centuries. I'd take trips to Japan, and buy hand-forged chisels, stamped with the mark of their maker, and attend workshops where I learn about joinery and techniques, and participate in a tradition of craftsmanship that's been passed down for generations. But I can't do that sadly. I hope I can make my dream of being a lazy woodworker true someday. Life so far has to be about trying to make enough to get by and there hasn't been room for much else, so it's hard to grow and find new things I enjoy. But what are dreams if we don't chase them

I think work should be fun and also less often and should pay more. and I've held this belief for a long time
