I'm thinking of Dionysos lately and how He feels like an old friend because I always find Him in my life. When I struggle with big mood swings, when I was a kid and wrote plays for my friends and I, when I listen to hardtech and hyperpop, when I think about how cool futurism and sci-fi is (it's an UPG), when I feel manic, when I'm so bored it gets physically annoying, when I draw (badly), when I do collages and write with my feelings instead of my head. He is everywhere and in every times of my life and I love Him so much.

Currently trying myself on a magazine for Technoise that will feature a sort of interview (I already mentioned in one of my previous text posts) taken during Chrome Chamber Rave where they picked Ryder to tell about it.

Above is a part of the cover (ofc I'll place Ryder on it, hello?). It took me a while to find a name for it. I've had a lot titles on mind, even nearly done a 'Tech Mag' sorta logo (see underneath) but I didn't vibe with the name and I had probably five different Cover versions that do all not exist anymore. I still do not know 100% where it will go and how the pages gonna look but I'll stay with '160+ BPM' for the title as this is the number where the definition of HardTech usually starts if I'm not wrong.

Updated Thyjs wardrobe and outfits

in three evening sessions.

It's not final-final yet but biggest part is done. I will tweak and refine him constantly as I see more and more armor stuff and militech xl mods popping up (to my luck hehe). There's no need to have it 100% updated yet as he's not going to be npv yet but I've wanted his stuff installed and sorted out older outfits that didn't match anymore since he's now also more developed than before.

I've wanted him to have more white and silver at first but his soldier concept is much stronger so he predominantly stays with green and earth tones + camo but the white/silver concept will stay for a few outfits (e.g. black and white themed with Ryder). I've added more (neon) orange to him as well. Oranje is the national color of the Dutch anyways and I saw it a lot in combination with green as well.

Plan:

tomorrow I'll update Jay with some clothing mods and edit his outfits maybe a little as well. And then I'll throw in V and take Twin Pics for their upcoming Birthday (27th)!

good news! Cowboy Beebop will live to see another day. i never got around to dissecting him because one of the wires in my extremely crude and diy solar panel came off, so i had to do some extremely crude and diy repairs.

took me an entire hour to resolder one (1) loose wire because we have the shittiest soldering iron known to man. the tip will not heat up, so i had to strip the wire back as far as it could go, and THEN find a way to preheat the wire + resister combo with the side of the soldering iron (i had like 2mm of space to work in between all the other wires and ended up inhaling 40% of my lifetime's limit of melted plastic fumes) AND THEN i had the pleasure of trying to coax hot lead off the side of a soldering iron and into the wires. (not depicted: my middleschool hardtech teacher weeping blood somewhere). what should have been a 5min job took 40 minutes. if i wasn't already on the post-singularity hit list for trying to run Blender on a mac, i most certainly am now for this crime against electronics. i take my frankenstein's monster goldener's tin of a circuit board and plug it into the oxygraph. it goes bezerk. i realize that my manic cage-fight i mean repair process had knocked ANOTHER wire loose. i take it back to the workbench. i plug in the soldering iron and wait for it to heat up at the rate of fingernails growing. i repeat the aforementioned process. i even redo the soldering on the resistors because WHY NOT. i take it back to the oxygraph and... nothing. it's dead. it's absolutely completely dead. "ah shit it's cooked," my mind supplies numbly. holding a +300°C soldering iron to the circuit board for 60 mins decreases it's function, who would have guessed? i contemplate jumping into the fishpond. joining a monastery. giving up science to write YA fiction. the madness eventually passes and i bust out the voltmeter to test the wires.

i. do. not. understand. this.

i briefly consider tearing the whole thing apart and remaking it from scratch. or doing something even more drastic, like emailing my supervisor. maybe he'll laugh himself to death when he sees the soldering job and i'll get an extension...

i decide to admit defeat and run my experiment with just one solar panel, it'll take x2 as long but lets be real i've wasted enough of my mortal lifespan already. i turn on the oxygraph and...nothing. the screen is frozen because the program has crashed. "did the fire alarm go off?" someone asks. No, i reassure them, it is only me laughing. "good news!" i tell the peanut gallery (BA, MA, PhD) who have been bearing witness to my slow descent into the 9th circle. "THIS MEANS I DIDN'T BREAK THE SOLAR PANEL!!! IT'S NOT REACTING BECAUSE THE WHOLE PROGRAM HAS CRASHED!!!" i just need to clean, reload, and start the whole 20 min calibration again. ha. ha. hahahaha.

long story short, i was right and now i have two functioning solar panels. yay science.

concept: Host, Chopstop, Tia, Sekhma and Cocoa as a superhero team, or traveling mercenaries (depending on the set up in question) who are also a polycue. they specialize in gobbling up villains and monsters, retrieving dangerous artifacts, delving into ancient and mysterious ruins to unearth the works of a lost age, and doing rock shows.

Tia is the leader whose abilities are kind of situational but can also fuse the things she swallows, allowing her to fuse the other members of the team together. she denies she’s the leader. is passionately in love with her entire team but mainly shows it by cooking them food and getting really emotional when they... like, stub their toes.

Host is the ‘contrasting the leader’ lancer personality; proactive, a bit more inclined to be Lawful, and tending towards the fragile speedster archetype. There’s just one of her bodies present here, and its more versatile than usual; she can fly, control electricity, reshape her body into any weapon she’s absorbed, absorb weaponry or hardtech devices into her body, but it accomplishes much of this by being a lot of tiny robots combined into a single large form. Hit hard enough, and they tend to get smashed apart and have to reassemble.

Sekhma is a huge, powerfully built amazon with a big musclegut, biceps bigger than most people, and outfits that show off her physique. ironically, all her powers are mental in nature and she thinks its hilariouis when people assume otherwise. telekinetic, telepathic, she can do it all. she’s the most grounded one of the team when you get down to it, though, even if she enjoys being ridiculous as much as the rest.

Chopstop does her hero/fighting work in a variety of mechs. they are all big and powerful, though in terms of overall size, she ranks below Tia and Sekhma. some of her mechs are curvy fembots, some are clanking tanks with legs. she likes to go in guns blazing and really enjoys the spotlight, and tends to be the best at actually speaking to the public and giving a good impression.

Cocoa is an idea girl and the newest to their hero life style. she is very powerful on paper but has very little experience actually doing that kind of thing. The second smallest next to Chopstop, but is still larger than a human; sometimes gets smaller when weakened. She might have some of Sussy’s powers here (stretching, rubber-ness) but still has an affinity for big guns.
