a better version of the originals would've really leaned into the emotional inc*st of it all
#remember when television was about people who just SUCKED#f: always and forever#the originals#the decision to follow mainly elijah and then rebekah in the pilot and second ep is soooo. a solid way to establish klaus as a character tbh#i do think the show does suffer from having to info dump in the pilot to catch new viewers up on 2 seasons worth of character development#so they have to play cards that i would otherwise have held a little closer to my chest like their backstory#and they also only have like two eps to establish klaus bc they don't have the time for build up and development like tvd did#having to establish such a complex dynamic fast is so π΅βπ« and the show does suffer from it a bit#like u really need to watch both pilots#getting all three povs helps. do love the choice to follow klaus for one pilot and elijah for the other
