It seems like the perfect solution at first. The Holograms finally have a lead singer for their band, and Jerrica can finally perform in front of people without panicking! But as time goes on, Jerrica starts relying on the Jem persona more and more, and not for the better.

Jerrica starts feeling more depressed as herself, getting more snappy towards others whenever the band is brought up around her. People only ever seem to want Jem, and Jerrica is always pushed off to the side. She struggles being both people, and often feels jealous of her persona.

Jerrica gets engrossed in her Jem persona, because it’s nice having all the attention on her, even if it isn’t really… her. The newfound confidence that Jem gives her makes it harder and harder to resist the temptation of being her instead of Jerrica.

The lines between the two personalities start getting blurred for Jerrica, and she starts believing that what she does as Jem won’t affect her as Jerrica, and that Jem is a different person from herself. She gets careless as Jem, and neglects her important duties as Jerrica.

Towards the end of the season, Jerrica has to be confronted with the facts- she cannot maintain this destructive lifestyle. She’ll have to realize and learn how to balance all aspects of her life healthily, not take everything upon herself, and actually ask for help.
