ROTJ ruled, as usual— it has more flaws than my beloved ESB for sure, and more than ANH, but the highs are so good and so rewarding in a way that never gets old.

One of my favorite parts this time around comes after Anakin tells Luke it's too late for him to ever go back (a belief explicitly shared by Palpatine, Yoda, and Obi-Wan, but not by Luke until that moment��and only for a little while). Luke withdrawing into "Then my father is truly dead" is always great, especially the shot of him in the lift, surrounded by taller men in Imperial uniforms with his shoulders and back rigidly straight and the warmth in his expression gone. But the thing that really makes it is not ending the scene with Luke disappearing, but letting that rejection linger by shifting to Anakin and just letting seconds tick by as he contemplates what's just happened.

He doesn't actually do much—just walks a few steps and reflects. His body language isn't overwhelmingly despondent or anything. Obviously we can't see his face. And yet we feel how hard that hit and how much he's dwelling on it. He's all but encouraged this response from Luke and yet it feels like it's really, truly sinking that this isn't at all what he wants from Luke.

He doesn't want Luke to call Palpatine (or anyone) master, I don't think; he just considers it inevitable, the only possibility other than Luke's death. And for Anakin, death above all is the thing to prevent.

Everything Anakin says is about things he or they must do, or what cannot be escaped, or destiny, but all of these things he says to Luke are ultimately about Not Getting Yourself Killed. There's no sense of choice beyond submission or destruction.

(Anakin does know he's done terrible things, clearly, but his takeaway from that understanding is that he's gone too far to turn back. That sense of powerlessness, the inability to make a choice that really means anything, pervades his characterization in ROTJ in particular.)

But I feel like, while he still feels powerless after Luke leaves, there's also this sense of a slow, half-buried epiphany. This isn't what he wants.

I think a very interesting idea and misconception within the fandom is the idea Curly himself spreads the idea about his superb leadership and status as a great idealistic person.

A big personal issue with him is the very idea that he doesn’t think he embodies much of either. Or rather doesn’t think it was meant for him. The status is placed onto him from people like Jimmy, the rest of the crew to an extent and Pony Express themselves. He is never exactly excited or eager to hear praise on those fronts as he’s grappling with the existential woe of imposter syndrome and feeling like he’s done nothing despite moving up in those roles.

We buy into Jimmy’s belief that Curly holds himself up on the same pedestal and cares when he’s placed up there and scared of coming down, not that he doesn’t want to. He also just sees himself as some guy. A guy with a lot on his plate. A guy with a lot of responsibilities he doesn’t want. But still just a normal guy. Good and bad. Average. He’s very honest with himself about his own faults, very aware of the the thoughts plaguing him, both by his dialogue in the HFIM DLC and the awareness he shows to Jimmy before he’s shit down. Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s good at expressing it to other people but it is the stuff he actually believes about himself.

The reason he keeps up the facade is for others, the necessity of his job for the Captain to be put together but oddly enough he never tries to reinforce it himself. He falters at the praise and bristles at personal concerns to himself. If you outright asked him if he thought he was a good person or even a good captain, there’s of course the objective answer and then the one he’d have…

Lest/Salo deep analysises because I am at rock bottom with my 5 minute contents

Warning for I might look delusional to you I am having fun though don't ruin my fun xhxfsg(⁠｡⁠ﾉ⁠ω⁠＼⁠｡⁠)

Despite being hired by Mel herself to spy on Salo, Lest refuses to give information about what they talked about and lies for not hearing anything, takes Mel to persuade and explain the seriousness of the situation to get her talking.

She says that he is not a problem but Mel's mother is the one who creeps her out and is the reason she doesn't wanna do this anymore because of her.

She gives Mel the shimmer to "take down Salo" because they thought he was gonna be the commander in this new upcoming war, proven wrong later. But despite given this and the current situation that they're both trying to avoid for both Zaun and Piltover Lest didn't gave it right away and it took her persuation to convince about they should take care of Salo if he becomes what they're afraid he might be. Lest didn't wanted to harm Salo, but she was scared of the future and him becoming a war leader. Just like how conflict Vi and Cait's relationship was with both of them loving eachother but the war situation making it complicated ın every way.

Salo talks about his past, his life. So the sessions they're having isn't just "seeing a doctor" they chat during it and it's different than getting a vitamin check from the family doctor.

Salo mentions how he picker her. Meaning she wasn't given forcefully by Mel but probably rather just advices to have her for his medical care.

When Salo tells her that the effects are not working as good anymore she advices him to a healer from the undercity for him to at least take a look.

Despite being his spy, and if he did found the care he needed he wouldn't be seeing her anymore because he wouldn't need to. She's "ruining" her own plan of getting messages from his side by leading him to a more promising healer.

Background: Honestly up to the person writing/drawing since I hardly ever explore the starting point of Iyu and Kaneki’s relationship, it is always just a continuous thing. I have a bit of a structure below but it’s a bit gross and I would prefer seeing what other people come up with, it’s just there in case it helps someone with the dynamic

Sometimes it branches from the idea of her making a sort of deal in her own world to go to Kaneki’s. This is specifically a timeline where he’s more isolated than before and is living on his own. She tries to be upfront about the situation and offers some special information to stop him from going to the Anteiku raid (like his suicide failing), but she omits information that would make him realize the eventual effects of that decision would make it worth it in the end. Iyu worries immensely about Kaneki leaving her for others, seeing his other friends as people she couldn’t compete with. She has a general belief that others will always be chosen before her, and in most situations will just let people slip away for someone better, but Kaneki is very different. If she fumbles this one boy she will jump off of Skytree. After somehow convincing him that it’s in his best interest to keep her around, she spends her time making gifts for Kaneki and accompanying him when he is comfortable with it. They kind of just hang out. Initially Kaneki was thinking to kill Iyu, despite the information proving useful, but he couldn’t bring himself to do that to someone who “loved him” so he put off the decision until he just adjusted to her. Sometimes he gets angry with how pathetic she can be, and her weird refusal to stop liking him when she sees him get so low, but she loves him so genuinely and he was kinda lonely before so he’s a bit attached to the attention now so now they are bros. Iyu wonders what would happen if he knew the full truth about his original future.

i stand by that a better, more sensible, and more intriguing plot for TSATS would have been, instead of retconning literally everything:

Bob is dead (because he was very explicitly absorbed/killed by Tartarus Himself in House of Hades, alongside Damasen), and nobody is going into Tartarus to save him. He made his sacrifice and is gone. However. Remember how the Titans, including Bob, were just kind of kicking around for several years? Particularly. On a cruise ship full of mortals. And Bob happened to be kicking around in general for an extra year versus all the other Titans. And he mythologically sometimes has a mortal demigod son who partook in the Calydonian Boar Hunt (Dryas of Calydon). Yeah.

So turns out, Bob/Iapetus leaves behind a demigod (demititan?) child. And because Nico was pretty much his only friend, he named Nico his child's godfather. And while he's not being left in charge of the child, as a son of Hades and godfather to this kid, Nico is duty-bound to fulfill Bob's last will and go find this like 2 year old to make sure they're safe. So Nico has to undertake this very unusual quest (that raises many questions, such as "demititans are a thing?" and "DOES THIS MEAN THERE'S POTENTIALLY MORE-?!" and "SHOULD WE BE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS?") and is kind of freaking out because. He's the son of Hades! He's notoriously bad with living things, and animals, and definitely small children! Even if he does find this kid and assure they're safe, he is the last person who should be undergoing any kind of quest involving even potentially having to babysit. Fortunately, his boyfriend is the human embodiment of sunshine and calmness and good vibes, and also once helped a nymph give birth, so he feels Marginally More Confident in theoretical demititan babysitting and offers to come along on this Epic Journey of Figuring Out What In Hades' Name Is Up With This Demititan Baby Business.

Proceed with wholesome epic shenanigans quest of Nico and Will scurrying around trying to locate this random OP baby while Nico has an existential crisis about the nature of his powers because he doesn't want to let Bob down! Both for Hades Kid Honor Reasons and because Bob was his friend! But what if he's destined to fail this quest just because of who he is? Because he's simply not built for hanging out with the living/mortals? And Will reassuring him that He Will Probably Not Traumatize The Weird OP Titan Baby And It'll Be Fine, and simultaneously getting a peek into the weird other life Nico leads hanging out with immortals much more than the average demigod, which Nico considers his norm. Bonus shenanigans of both of them getting caught off-guard and culture shocked from where each other's respective worlds (Nico's mostly-immortal versus Will's mostly-mortal) cross over and learning to navigate those for each other - Nico finally starting to make some mortal connections and get glimpses at modern mortal American life, and Will trying not to get his brain literally incinerated while Nico's happily casually catching up with some of his old friends who happen to be literal gods.
