tired of the bad dad Langdon headcannons. dude was on the floor with his kid making that bracelet he was wearing in the show. like that man would come home from work and not leave his kids side until they were asleep. god forbid he had a bad case concerning a kid on his shift, then more often than not he’s either sneaking into their rooms throughout the night to check on them, or even sleeping on the ground beside their beds. he comes to work with marker stains on his forearms and a new drawing to hang up in his locker after every day off he gets to spend with his kids

i love coming up with random useless facts about the pitt characters it's my favorite kind of headcanon. langdon's from michigan. santos was a national champion gymnast. whitaker was once the ONE person to get caught speeding on a rural midwest road (he was going 100 mph). javadi is entirely too invested in how incorrect the term "chai tea latte" is and goes on rants whenever someone says it. samira can drink like 5 cups of coffee and feel fine but the second she has an energy drink it's over for her. mel owns about 12 pairs of glasses because she always loses them. mckay makes the best cookies you've ever eaten and if she brings some to work they're gone by 9 AM. i could keep going for ages it's literally so fun to just make up these little things that aren't super important but just fill out their lives outside of work a little.

When The Pitt Boys Have a Crush...(The Pitt Headcanons)

Pairings: Dr Robby x Reader, Dr Langdon x Reader, Dennis Whitaker x Reader

Author's Note: I've been super run down lately so have been enjoying slowly working my way through The Pitt and now my feelings for Dennis Whitaker have become strong enough that I simply need to write about him 💞 Enjoy and pls send in any more Pitt headcanons you'd like to see :)

Dr Robby

- It's been long enough since the last time Dr. Robby allowed himself to feel this much of anything, that when Nurse Evans teases him for having a little crush on you he can barely find the words to argue. He could try and tell her she's wrong but as you walk by on the other side of the emergency room and his heart starts to hammer in his chest like he's just heard there's a trauma inbound, well, he knows there's no point fighting it.

- Robinavitch isn't the kind of man who'll fret about what to do next. He's spent a lot of years dealing with the most stressful day of peoples' lives, so he knows that the best thing to do is just act on the information he has as he receives it. The doesn't mean he won't spend a moment worrying he's been coming across as an idiot at work if even the nurses have noticed how he feels about you before he manages to.

- Suddenly he realises that there's a reason sometimes he leaves even the longest shifts with a smile on his face; it's always the shifts when you're working alongside him. Why he finds himself hovering a little longer at the nurse's station when he should be hurrying; because he gets to hear a little more of your voice before he has to face his next calamity. Why his steps have felt a little bit lighter since you joined the team down in the Pit six months ago, making him feel just that bit more excited to take on every single shift, because doing almost anything together with you feels almost brand new.

- He manages to contain himself until the end of that shift, pacing outside the locker room until you emerge and he can pretend walking out with you was all just good timing. Luckily it gave him time to check the rota for the next time you both have a day off, and before you know it you have plans with your boss. Dr Robby would go for a classic date like a ballgame or dinner, something where he can talk to you as much as he wants to without being interrupted by the chaos of your jobs. He'd play it cool, letting the atmosphere on your date be relaxed and casual, the doc already so confident that the spending time together can only go well that he's planning dates two and three in the back of his mind the whole night.

Dr Langdon

- Oh Dr Langdon, my chaotic disney prince with beautiful boy band hair, you would be so useless at having a crush. Dr Langdon's so used to people pursuing him, feeling confident and in control, and yet when you're around him suddenly he feels like he can't remember the order words are supposed to come out in, and now Javadi's talking to him about how you're like Utah and his day is only getting worse.

- He'll try to avoid you, letting other doctors take the more interesting cases so he can hide himself in the South rooms, far away from the panic you seem to stir up in him. When Dr McKay finds him peeking around corners like he's in danger, she has to hold back a laugh at his dishevelled state when he tells her there's something wrong with you that only he seems to notice. She leaves him to work out what he's missing on his own, knowing any attempt to tell him the truth would only spook him worse.

- It's a torturously long shift for Dr Langdon, so much so that when he's finally trudging out the door exhausted to his core, he doesn't even notice that manages to stumble right into your path.

"Long day Dr Langdon?" You ask softly, with that same smile that made him forget half his patients' names today.

"Yeah, just - you know how it goes." He feels himself cringe at his sheer inability to form a sentence under your warm gaze, his mouth going dry and you nodded knowingly and spoke again,

"I do. I was going to go get breakfast if you want to talk about it?" The offer rattled Langdon to core: He had spent all day avoiding you, terrified of the effect you seemed to have on him, and yet he could feel his cheeks tighten into a wide smile as his head nodded of its volition. You were going to be the death of him.

Dennis Whitaker

- Sweet, soft, pasty Dennis is no stranger to a crush. He's felt the sting of hope and then rejection more times than he would care to remember, so when he walks into the emergency room on his first day in Pittsburg and sees you practically floating between rooms, he knows he's a goner.

- He'll put in every effort to be nothing but friendly and polite, no matter how much his stomach flutters every time you say his name, or how he forgot how to breathe when your fingers brushed over his cheeks when put a mask on him while his hands were full. It's not easy for him to concentrate when he's sure he can feel the warmth radiating from your skin whenever you have to step past him to work on a patient, but he also can't deny how nice it feels to someone as wonderful as you checking in on him in the new, chaotic place.

- It doesn't take long for Dr Robby to notice the way Whitaker's eyes follow you across the floor, a dopey smile painted across his face whenever you glance back at him. He'll wait for a quiet moment between patients to subtly mention to Dennis that 'there's no policy at the hospital against dating a colleague, just in case anyone's caught his eye.' Dennis will laugh off the implication, quickly reassuring his boss that there's no risk of you actually going out with him so he doesn't need to worry about that. No Dennis doesn't need to work beside you for long to know that he's got no chance of someone of brilliant and beautiful as you wanting to spend time with him outside of the hospital, but it's still nice to let the warmth of his adoration rush over him as he resumes working by your side, despite Robby's attempts at pep talk.

- Thankfully Whitaker is being far too hard on himself, and is truly oblivious to way you eagerly return his every dopey smile, and blush when he hovers just behind you to read a screen over your shoulder, and how his gentle nature with all his patients only makes you want to spend more of your time with him. You'll have to be the one to ask Dennis out, and even then he's probably going to assume it's not a date until you wrap your arms around him at the end of it and lean it for a kiss he would have never imagined he'd actually get.

Listen, Kingdon is absolutely that trope where he’s an asshole to everyone BUT her.

Langdon is constantly bickering and being snarky and just downright being an asshole to others. No one ever sees his sweet gentle side.

But to Mel? No, no that’s his babygirl and he could never say or do anything mean to her. She’s the only person he’ll be gentle for. She’s also the only person he’ll ever let take care of him.

AND he’ll also be an asshole x 100 to anyone that even thinks about being mean to her or flirting with her. You cannot change my mind on this.

author’s note: frank is so adorable and funny and i quite literally squealed with joy when i got this request. (the imagine part is on the way btw <3). also, i’ve only seen the show twice, so sorry if some of the facts about langdon aren’t canon, I tried my best.

I think Frank Langdon is the perfect husband.

Yes, he has his flaws but your love for each other is strong af and you two can overcome anything.

I think he’s the type of guy to bring home flowers just because he missed you at work and wanted to see you smile.

He would definitely bring home chocolates and flowers after realizing the puppy might have been a bad idea.

But you obviously love the puppy so there was really no need for his romantic gesture.

Your first date would’ve been shortly after he met you through a mutual friend.

He took you to a fancy restaurant and you two hit it off instantly.

It was like you’d known him for years and you two couldn’t get enough of each other.

Your second date would be a little more chill, maybe bowling or an arcade as you got to know each other more.

The more you got to know him the more you realized what a perfect match you were.

His jokes made you laugh, and that in itself would bring a smile to Langdon’s face.

The first time he said “I love you” it kind of just slipped out and he was so relieved to hear you say it back.

The night he proposed, he brought you to the same restaurant as your first date.

He didn’t propose there though – too many people, and he knew you liked your privacy.

You two went on a walk in the park afterward, your feet ached a little from the heels but you were too in love to care.

He got down on one knee when you reached the park bench where you first said “I love you” and you were quick to say yes.

And the rest was history.

He treasured every moment with you.

When you were pregnant with Tanner he was beyond helpful

Him being a doctor really came in handy and he waited on you hand and foot, even though you told him you were fine on your own.

I think Frank Langdon would be terrified to be a dad at first but the second he held his son in his arms all his fears would dissipate. 

He’d take time from work while you were postpartum just so he could be close to both of you

In summary, Frank Langdon is an incredible husband.

And we’re pretending episode 10 ended differently.

Oh, I absolutely do!!! Here are just a few fluffy Kingdon headcanons, specifically about their proposal/engagement/wedding day.

Frank knows he loves Mel fourteen minutes into their second date, when Tanner FaceTimes him crying about a lost stuffed animal and Mel not only insists he answer but then spends twenty minutes of their dinner date helping Frank find a replacement on eBay.

(That's a lie. He realizes he loves her, and maybe has for awhile, five days before he asks her out, when she tells him no one else could have saved the patient they were working on together and then repeats herself very clearly, "no one else could have," when he scoffs. It's not true, because she did the actual saving, but he's not sure anyone else has ever believed in him like Mel does.)

He knows he wants to marry her during their first argument, if you can call it that, which is about whether or not Frank can say he's read a book that he actually just listened to an in-depth podcast about. The answer is no, even he can admit that, but the ferocity that Mel levels at him, like it's an insult to the book itself, is so sexy he actually forgets his half-assed argument. He wants to not even actually argue with her for the rest of his life.

He knows Mel doesn't like surprises in her personal life. And an engagement is a pretty damn big one. So he plans to bring the idea up slowly, which is unusual for him. But she beats him to it, late one night while they're getting ready for bed after a long, hectic shift. "My patient today, he's been married for 53 years. He and his wife were so sweet together." "That's really nice," he tells her, carefully. "It is. I think I'd like that, being known so well for so long," she whispers.

He takes Santos ring shopping with him. He picked Abby's ring out alone, because it was the height of COVID and she was ridiculously pregnant, and she always not-so-secretly disliked it. Santos and Mel are close enough that he knows she knows Mel, but Santos also still dislikes him juuust enough to tell him the god's honest truth. The salesperson asks if the ring is for Santos, and she fakes puking on the glass case, and then tells him that none of the rings are Mel. He'd think it was just to annoy the salesperson, but she's right. None of the rings at any of the stores are right.

He can't find the right ring or figure out the right way to propose with a nonexistent ring, which honestly, with anyone else, would feel like a huge flashing field of red flags to him. But then... Mel's halfway into her scrubs on a Thursday morning, calling out "don't forget to take your vitamins!" to Becca in the kitchen, as she ties her scrub pants, and excitedly telling him about this paper that Abbot asked her to coauthor, and it's just such a normal, happy morning and he thinks, fuck, I want 53 years of mornings just like this, and it just comes out. "I want to marry you," he says, and it's not a question, it's just a statement of utter fact, and it takes her a full fourteen seconds to stop what she's doing and stare at him. "I... well, okay. It's Thursday... Are you asking me to marry you while I'm half-naked on a Thursday?" "I didn't technically ask," he laughs. "But yeah. Do you want me to ask when you have your top on?" She shakes her head and his heart sinks, but then she's kissing him, kissing him, kissing him in a way she never has half-dressed on a Thursday morning, and when she finally pulls back, they're both teary-eyed and laughing. (He never actually asks. She never actually says yes. They don't need formalities like that. He doesn't need to ask a question she's already silently answered a thousand times. Forever is forever no matter when or how it starts.)

He does kinda feel bad about the ring though, but it just takes one quiet conversation later that night to figure it out. "I don't want you to spend money on a fancy ring. I wouldn't wear it at work anyway. But my mom... she left me her engagement ring from my dad" — he reluctantly lets her up and watches her sift through a small jewelry box on her dresser. "This," she says, crawling back next to him in bed, a small solitaire on a simple gold band between her fingers. "This is all I need." It's the first ring he's ever seen that so clearly embodies Mel. He takes it from her and slides it on her left ring finger, and yeah, that's all he needs too.

"I don't want to wait a year to marry you. Things happen, I don't want to wait at all," she tells him a few weeks later, after a particularly emotional shift from hell. "I just want you, and Becca, and the kids, I don't want a big ceremony. We can have dinner at that Japanese place you like in Shadyside, the one with the nice patio? We can invite everyone to celebrate with us there." He doesn't need any convincing.

They get married at the courthouse, which is a step above his first wedding, held over Zoom, and absolutely perfect. Mel wears an off-white jumpsuit and Frank lets Tanner pick out his tie and Becca wears a cardigan their mom knitted for her years ago, which he's pretty sure makes Mel cry harder than anything else that day. Millie refuses to toss the few flower petals they give her, which honestly probably just saves them some cleanup time, and then proceeds to hug Mel's leg all through their vows. It's messy and quick and Mel smiles into a laugh as he tries not to cry, and it's all absolutely fucking perfect. (They don't write their own vows. He thinks he could, and could spend hours reciting them, there are a thousand things he wants to promise her. But he waits, and whispers them in the dark, closer to a prayer than he's ever felt, more praise than promise against her skin. He repeats them every night until they're memorized actions, silent words they both know by heart.)

Mel's something old is her mom's ring, sized just right for her ring, sitting next to her something new, a delicate gold wedding band that she'll occasionally wear to work. Her something borrowed is a gold hair comb, its twin in Becca's hair, that she tells him their grandmother used to wear on special occasions. Her something blue is secret, she tells him a few days before the wedding. It takes him about five minutes into their make-shift honeymoon, aka a kid and sister free night alone before a leisurely day off, to learn that it's a matching bra and panty set (the first lingerie she's spent more than $30 on in her life, she tells him seriously) in a pale ice blue. It's only her pride in her purchase and a whisp of manners that keeps him from ripping it off her.

I think I could write fifty more of these just about their wedding day alone, but I'll stop here before this turns into more than it should be.

my hot take is that frank is actually the one more nervous about sex and kissing instead of mel.

i think to mel physical intimacy is a skill she has whatever level of proficiency in. and she already gives this to him, by letting him touch her at all, so i think new body parts involved, whatever they may be, are just an expansion on something she already does. (especially if we’re running with taylor dearden saying she’s ace, although this is assuming she’s not also aro, and/or not sex-repulsed, and/or favorable to kissing.) (there’s also a level of her being autistic and therefore having a different relationship with physical touch in general that impacts this, but if anything that lends more credence to her viewing touching other people as a skill that she can practice, and also something she really wants, considering all the high fives.) most importantly though, she knows how to deal with her emotions when they’re overwhelming; she knows how to adequately prepare for them, as evidenced in her whole shift with her lava lamp phone app and savage meditation and ocean sounds.

adhd addict in recovery frank on the other hand, who has to relearn how to self regulate pretty much everything, is WAY more likely to be overwhelmed. kissing mel would have the most complex and intense emotions he’s associated with any kind of physical touch outside of hugging his kids in years. like his marriage obviously isn’t going great, if he’s pulled out a surprise dog and salmon dinner and an addiction to benzos all in one day. so it’s been however long he and abby haven’t been good, plus rehab, plus divorce — or at least separation, legal shit takes a varied amount of time depending on states and kids make shit hard — PLUS however long it takes him and mel to actually acknowledge feelings and do something about it. i think he’d freak the fuck out.

and! he spends the whole evening helping with the code triage in the hopes that robbie will tell him he’s doing good! he BEGS him earlier in the day to tell him that they’re friends. his relationships mean a LOT to him, people liking him means so so so much. so if he’s going to be kissing mel, of all people, who likes him freely and unabashedly and with fervor, who finds joy in the simple fact of his presence, he’s going to want to make it good. and thats soooo much internal pressure.

so i think if anyone is going to need to take shit slow and freak the fuck out a little bit about navigating kissing or sex or any other kinds of physical intimacy with each other for the first time, its messy prettyboy langdon and not our comfortable in her skin savage king.

A/N: He is so bad... in a sexy way but also in a functional way.

EARLY MORNING

Has to be bribed to get up and get ready for work. Not that he doesn't want to work, it's rather that he would prefer to keep you in bed for as long as possible. Frank takes his time getting dressed and while he does he takes your clothes and puts it above his head, demanding a kiss if you want them back. Doesn't mind if he's late for work, but knows you mind, and you're cute when you're mad at him. Teasing you is one of his favorite part of every morning.

WORK

As he is seen as one of the more upbeat members of the Pitt but also a bit of an ass, no one knows how the two of you got together. He takes his job seriously but if the opportunity arises to flirt with you he will take it immediately, even in front of a patient. Frank is not professional at all in that regard and never will be, he will be very open with the fact that you're dating. Says a few sly comments, especially on the night you spent together before. Comments like these make you want to shut him up fast, and often the only way to do that is to steal a few moments together in an empty room.

LUNCH BREAK

Because of his back injury he asks for a massage when the two of you eat lunch together. To fluster you he moans when you put your hands on him, and is even very vocal about it feeling good. He knows very well that he's doing with that, he knows the kinds of images and memories that will awaken in you. Always has your favorite drink on hand, and a nice cup of coffee for you both of course to keep you both going through the day. If there are other people eating lunch with you he steals as many kisses as he can before the break is over and he gets chastised for being inappropriate at work.

AFTER WORK

Frank actually can't wait to get home from work and take a long warm shower with you. He can take it without you but it's gonna be a lot less fun that way and you both need a way to destress at the end of such a long day. Takes a few pills to help him sleep better but has really been trying to get off the medication and find new ways to deal with the pain. Never wants to worry you so he hid the fact that he took the pills at first but as soon as you found out he did feel guilty, however he couldn't just stop immediately. One of the best ways to get him to fall asleep faster is to have his head in your lap, softly running your hand through his hair until his breathing evens out.

you’re the new intern at PTMC and Cassie doesn’t know what to tell you except nothing will get easier. It’s emergency medecine, not a walk in the park.

you’re just two interns at PTMC, everything should be alright. yeah, well, why is Dennis so clumsy whenever you are around? does he crushes on you?

★ DENNIS WHITAKER. psychiatrist ; req.

you’re the psychiatrist of PTMC sent to handle situations with combative patient—but what happens when you are hurt by said patient and Dennis is the one doing stitches on you? when he thinks you’re still so beautiful even with blood running down your forehead.

★ FRANK LANGDON. superficial cuts.

there’s at least one nurse being injured by a patient per day. it’s just how it is. but when it happens to you and Frank has to do stitches on your face? he’s not so happy of his day anymore. he has to make sure you are alright.

★ JACK ABBOT. breakfast break ; req.

morning comes and Jack gets home—exhausted from his day, just to see you already in the kitchen, making breakfast. now all he wants is to forget about emergency medecine and blood, and relax with you.

★ JACK ABBOT. soft spot.

new intern at the PTMC, and Jack wasn’t supposed to get this day shift (how could he say no to Robby?) and meet you yet. but now he finds himself having a type of soft spot for you.

★ JOHN SHEN. so into you ; req.

John’s affection for you — a new and exhausted medical student — is so obvious. he’s flirty, protective, and unashamed about it. but he also knows how to show his care for you by driving you home when you need it the most. he’s kinda your mentor, after all.

★ MELISSA KING. her breaking point.

you can recognize the signs like no one else. too much noises, too much touches, too much blood. Melissa needs a moment to herself, because it’s all too much and she’s overwhelmed. perhaps you could just be there for her during this?

★ MICHAEL ROBINAVITCH. after-work beer.

being a second year resident at the PTMC, you knew about the whole “beer in the park” that the team participated in after their shift. it wasn’t unusual for you to follow them either. but when you arrive late tonight, there’s only Robby here and he wants you to stay.

★ MICHAEL ROBINAVITCH. out of uniform ; req.

you’re just one of the paramedic working for PTMC, not even that close to Robby—but you see him. and that’s even more awkward when meeting off-work at the supermarket in the cereal aisle. but at least Robby tries his best to start a conversation with you.
