okay, so here once again, my list which is too long

my rosekiller hcs:

- they're both heavily tatted and pierced (evan has snakebites and a stretched septum, barty has a bridge, helix, tongue and maybe d*ck piercing, at least one of them has their nipples pierced)

- they both use reg's netflix and/or spotify account

- stoners

- barty ripped black skinny jeans' crouch jr and evan 'oversized skater blue-jeans' rosier

-barty 'monster energy' crouch jr and evan 'red bull' rosier

- if they live together: their doorlock is broken and they have a chain to close it but don't really care about it because they both loose their keys quite often

- barty curses in italian if he's really REALLY mad and evan finds it fucking attractive

- a bit a more niche one: they go out in bars in the slutties outfits ever and both individually flirt with handsome guys and if they like one they introduce him to the other to take that guy home together if hes down.

- barty once tried to dye his hair blonde but it fried his hair so he had to get a buzzcut

DGM 253 thoughts and questions

1) Apo not understanding the nature of the helix further emphasized that Innocence is amoral

It is established that Innocence is sentient, but all the fragments are subordinate to the Heart. Most don’t have free will; they are either dormant or try to attract accommodators because the Heart needs them to. Since they are stuck in a crystalized form, all they can do is cause strange phenomena to signal people. It seems like they can interact with most things in this world, not just living beings, but they don’t know limitations. Lavi saying that Apo doesn’t understand the helix implies that even though he can learn, react to, and mimic human behavior, he can’t comprehend human nature, by extension morality either. It makes him an interesting antagonist and contextualizes his obsession with Allen. Apo thinks he is superior to people and only views them as energy sources, but Allen’s existence challenges this. So far, it seems like Innocence(s) are reactionary creatures that can learn from and evolve through people but have limitations when it comes to emotional intelligence.

2) The Heart’s conditions for choosing an accommodator are related to their fate, or rather Innocence forces them to be stuck in a bad one

Fate is interpreted in different ways in the story. For Allen, it is a choice, to Cross, it is something you create, to Mana it is something you can't escape and for the Heart, something to control. It is unclear if people’s fate is determined or if there are several different outcomes for everyone, but Innocence can sense that someone is on a bad path.* I assume, they can detect strong emotional responses, but they also must be in the right place. With the affirmation that accommodators are sacrificial lambs, the Heart’s method of trapping people in their misery is particularly cruel and still, questionably efficient. If the Heart wants to go against the Earl, I wonder if quality can battle with quantity. One miserable accommodator is that much more powerful?

*Side note: Does Innocence accept Bookman as accommodators, because their job is miserable by default? Can they get rid of Innocence after they are done recording? If a Jr. is a chosen one, does that mean that some people’s fate is indeed determined?

3) Does the Heart eat souls too?

All living things have a soul, and after death, they return to their origin: the helix. Humans have the most powerful helix energy; their emotions bring forth evolution and their bonds connect them through time and space. This natural power is exploited by the Earl and the Heart. The Earl can imprison (=contain and control) souls and then use their despair to evolve Akuma, while the Heart seeks out specific people to slowly drain out their life energy for reasons, again, unknown. Through Allen’s eye, we see that Akuma souls don’t have free will and probably can’t go back to the helix until an exorcist sets them free. Even though the Heart only deals with life energy, what if the twist is that exorcised souls end up in it? It is kinda stupid but also fun. (Will there be a Madoka Magica twist too??)

4) How could Lavi sacrifice himself?

So, the "magic" rules of this universe aren’t that clear to me still; there is rarely ever an explanation for why things happen the way they are. (But it could be that I’m an overthinker too). The Bookman are also the cheaters of this world (special blood, ancient knowledge, inhuman strength, etc.), but really, all it takes is a decision to be part of somebody’s soul. Is the price that Allen must suffer in the future? Like they must pay back to the universe? Or must he suffer, because there was something wrong with Lavi?* DGM, explain.

This chapter had more confirmations than questions, which is nice. :))

*Side note: The "child of calamity" can either refer to his failure as a Bookman or that he was born with misfortune. White hair seems to be a bad omen, but Allen's only turned white after the curse. Did it trigger remains of Lavi inside him? It is also a fun detail. (this one is for @tetitous who gave some pespective after I wrote this originally)

SPOILERS Chapters 251 onwards

Bookman Junior, past!Allen, Bookman and ... debunked theories, also theories that somewhat were reanimated?

So here it is my new theory post regarding the newer chapters it took me a while but my mind has been working. I did several in the past, here we have them:

Bookman's Flashback & Bookman Jr = Lavi but different?

Lucia & the Bookman at the Campbell's

The weirdness of Allen's Age

Allen & Junior being one person at some point

So hey listen I did come up with a lot of things over the past 6 months and I will refer to a few that were confirmed (and also debunked) and go to a few things we learned from the recent chapter (253). And my two cents to that.

The Bookman from the Ark Flashback is indeed our Bookman.

I had the discussion earlier this year that it was implied that this person is a Bookman but it's not clear what Bookman. My first thought was our current Bookman. Then I had the idea it could be Cross as I stated in the post above but ... no. I came back to it being our Bookman as the ears and the earrings match. So we kinda got that confirmed here.

2. Bookman Jr = Lavi, but no & Allen's bond with Junior in the Flashback during the Circus ark

My idea was if Allen got regressed Apocryphos might have been messing with more people. But that theory was wrong. We do have a second Lavi though.

Also I was right about the one single memory of Red before the circus of feeling someone cared for him was him and Lavi, their bond survived the whole ordeal with Apocryphos (also I suspected Junior protected Allen from Apocryphos that was confirmed too).

I was wrong about the idea that Allen was a child when he met Nea as we learned Allen was dying as Nea approached him and that was the reason why Nea bowed down. I was right about Allen being regressed according to that flashback though.

3. Blood relation between Bookman & Junior, the Clan and their Blood + the black Sheep and the Mark

This is a kinda confirmed thing? At least Allen refers to Bookman as Lavi's "Dad".

Also current Allen indeed looks like a mash up between pastAllen and Lavi. At this point I suspect that a lot of Lavi's personality and functionality took over Allen as he was merely a head and the Innocence arm, everything else was basically Lavi's Helix filling up his.

The question is still are the Bookman otherwise related in any way? How did the elder from the village immediately knew that the Baby was related to the Bookman Clan? A Clan that is not known by many as they operate in the shadows of history.

We know that Bookman are allowed to have children (it was confirmed somewhere in Komui's Lounge I don't know which Volume it was but it was the same confirming that they don't drink Alcohol iirc). It could be that the whole Clan is indeed Blood related BUT maybe just a few people might have the abilities to become a Bookman and maybe even among those only a certain percentage are allowed to work in their profession (heck I still think Lucia looks like Lavi but with a haircut).

This would explain why the Bookman share their recordings by "blood" while they still do recordings on paper (looking at Lucia writing down the stories of that old man). Maybe Bookman, Lavi and current!Lavi are the blessed ones with the Blood connection while Lucia, Joe and the Zeugle guy (does he has a name even?) without socks are helping to a certain degree.

What brings me to ... the mark.

That one thing marking the Bookman as head of the Clan and the Junior as the future Bookman.

It is certainly not the scar that Junior has. At this point I do suspect something else but let me finish my first thought.

Bookman sr. hides his mark under Make up, we all know how he looks like right now. The current Junior wears an eyepatch. We don't see their right eyes uncovered/without make up. Not even with baby!Lavi. Hoshino even hid Bookman's right eye behind the wall to not give away any clues in earlier chapters.

We do not see Lavi's eye uncovered in any flashbacks, the glasses hide his eyes every time.

But we do see in Chapter 253 that Bookman Sr only covers the area above his right eye with make up and we all can agree that both his eyes are fine to use he doesn't need glasses, there aren't any hints that his right eye is defect in any way. Also current!Lavi has only his eye covered there is no mark on his forehead or anything.

So there is a mark somewhere around the right eye the key person of the Clan have by birth.

I do suspect that Lavi, who was conflicted all the time, from young years on, that this profession is what he should follow, reminded by Bookman who supressed his feelings all his live long, to stay true to his profession either forcefully lost his mark by someone else.

Or he decided to blind himself to erase his connection to the Clan. As he sees himself as the Black Sheep, the one who brought shame upon the Clan. They still do see him as 'beloved' member, and the reminder that he lost his former Junior pains Bookman to a certain degree.

I think the latter is the case, I do think Lavi injured himself to erase his connection to the Clan. But he still was a member and he was not completely disconnected from the Clan either.

One point is that current!Lavi was born after Lavi merged with Allen, that means he might gave up his 'Job' but he was still their heir. AND his hairstyle is the same as Bookman's it's a Bookman hairstyle. Also the jacket he wears is hinted to be worn under the cape in the teen flashback, the collar decoration (feathers) still hints to the Bookman Clan and so does the clasp which shows a bird. He is still attached to the Clan even with the fact he denies it.

Why would you continue to wear the cloth of a Clan if you didn't want to be associated with it anymore? Also why does he stick to the rule of not having a name? Like, he left the Clan and still is "I was formerly the one who was supposed to be the next Bookman I have no name but Lavi is the name of the Record so that's not a name either"... Lavi you literally could have named yourself Bob and that would have been your name?! (But yeah I think Allen told him his 'name' is Lavi now just to make things easier)

Also Bookman does his best to not let his current apprentice take after his former Junior (eyepatch, not the same hairstyle, more distance between them, constant reminder not to get attached).

BUT there is something we can't grasp yet...

their weapon. We first see Lavi's staff in Chapter 252. And current Lavi has a similar weapon with his Hammer, he uses a staff during the attack on the Headquarter as his Hammer broke during the fight with Tyki.

Why do the both Junior have the same weapon? Does Bookman teach them the same fighting style? Is there any reason behind this?

And ...

4. Bookman, Lucia, the Helix and Innocence

What is the deal with Bookman and the Helix of Life? Can they just manipulate it like that?

We do know the Lucia in the current chapters is the same as the one in Chapter 222, the chapters take place about 3 months apart, not more, it is not a Flashback. Lucia 'aged' somehow.

An idea I have is that maybe Bookman can indeed control their Helix to a certain degree. Maybe Lucia gifted a part of hers to 'the injured Bookman in the Campbell Residence' to help him heal, she lost years of her life and aged accordingly (wild theory but hey we got wilder things within the series, also Bookman is important to their Clan keeping him alive is their higest priority).

They must be able to manipulate it at some point. This would explain why Bookman and current!Lavi were able to become accomodator of Innocence 'just like that', this is not a coincidence. Especially considering Bookman warns Lavi about becoming a crystal type.

Innocence feeds off the Helix and only chooses people who are resilient enough to endure it, people who aren't giving up after their personal traumas and keep on fighting (which is a horrible thought, they are basically punished for surviving and then their live source is sacrificed for the Heart...).

5. Allen and Lavi are the same, aka we know nothing about Allen

Hands down we learned a lot about the former Bookman Junior and he gave up his own life for Allen, to fill his helix. The former Allen, the soldier, who made a deal with Nea, doesn't exist anymore. And the Allen he was before Apocryphos got him was basically someone else as he was before the deal, he was a teen raised by someone who was a Bookman.

The Allen we have is the result of two people being fused (something I had suspected earlier). Though we have zero idea who past!Allen was aside... being a soldier. We don't know why he agreed to Nea's deal nor what he got for it. We don't know who the opponent was that wiped his whole unit.

6. Cross is not Bookman Junior

I think we can finally get rid of that theory, thank you.

Though I hope we learn what relationship Cross has with them all, he is a big mystery still.

7. The Future of Allen

So yes this ... is bugging me. There is surely more like ... what will happen to Allen when the Clan learns he is basically the lost Junior? Will they claim him? Will they treat him more gently? Will anything happen at all?

Will they help him to regain the lifetime he lost due taking the poison? (Or will that be Link's part?)

Also I tried to keep Hoshino's wish in mind not to share caps from the recent chapter therefore I inserted older caps and own drawings, just in case you wondered why.

Going over raws rn, and on the topic of pasta-old jr, chewing on this. With our current knowledge of pasta supposedly being different, this whole part recontextualizes not just as Allen's memory loss/hint hint apocreeper did something to him, but also Nea seeming to suspect past jr might be involved in why Allen is younger now instead too, given said jr was the one who told Nea stuff about things like helix of life?

Like Nea use me text box is meant to be from pasta, while next ones we see with junior potentially from junior, and Nea is wondering if that's why if junior did something that made Allen younger now?

Or looking at the pasta and kid Allen panels, at least that was a foreshadowing for kid Allen and old jr were at the same spot/whole I feel like I was held like this before thing from LFoS adaptation chapters you talked about too?

The fact it was so easy to think everything was the actions of One Person (+ Apocyphos), now with the knowledge of "there are two people" + "Nea goes from talking about Past!A to flashbacking about Past!JR" it does seem like like Past!JR and Past!A are extremely connected to one another.

God this is so confusing but it's such a good way to bring it up. Thank you.

Thought I would answer some random questions.

Describe your favourite pair of socks. Grey and fluffy.

Do you like smoothies? I do. I enjoy most fruity drinks.

How do you like your eggs? I like then when they are still a bit runny.

What do you use to keep your place when you’re reading a book? A bookmark. Or something that won't damage the book.

What colour dominates your closet? Mostly blue and black.

Do you collect anything? Keyrings, badges and pins, postcards and some different fandom things.

Do you wear glasses or contacts? Glasses. Have since I was about 3.

What’s something about your best friend that you love? I love how safe I feel around him. The world could be falling apart, and as long as he is nearby, nothing bad can happen. (I also love his hair. He has poliosis, which I think looks stunning.)

Do you prefer to write in pen or pencil? Pen. I don't like the feel of pencil on paper. But if I do a sudoku I have to do it in pencil.

Do you have any houseplants? Do any of them have names? I call myself the crazy plant lady. I have a group of cacti called Tom, Dick and Harry. Tom currently has a cactus growing on top of him and I'm hoping it lives after planting it when it gets big enough. Have another cactus that I call Fluffy. Also have two more cacti that I have yet to name. Have a succulent named Alvin. Every so often his leave turn red at the edges. Have another called Alvin Junior, Jr for short, he was my first successful propagation from Alvin. Also have two more cuttings from Alvin that I have not named but are coming up nicely.

Describe your favorite hoodie. How long have you had it? What makes it unique? My Arkham Asylum inmate hoodie. Had it since early 2020. It is so comfortable and just the right amount of baggy. (There was a mix up when it was shipped and I ended up receiving two. They told me to keep the extra as it would cost them more to get it shipped back to them then it would to let me keep it. So when it wears out I'll have another.)

Iced or hot drinks? Depends on the time of year and the weather.

Do you have any piercings or tattoos? Are there any that you want? I have my ears peirced and I also have an industrial piercing. I kinda want my helix on the opposite ear done.

Can you cook or bake? If so, what are some of your specialities? I can do both. I like making biscuits. Every year I make a batch of Irish cream biscuits to take to my groups Christmas get together.

Do you have any keychains on your home or car keys? Describe them! I have sooo many keyrings! They are one of the things that I collect. On my keys I have: a loop with my blood type on it, my initial, an anchor, a little penguin in a bottle that floats in water, and a wooden turtle that my niece coloured in and gave me.

Can you swim very well? Do you like swimming? I always say I swim like a fish because I prefer swimming under the water. I am a good swimmer but know when not to test fate. I find swimming to be very peaceful and relaxing.

Did you play with Legos as a kid? What was your favourite set? When I was a kid my older sister and I had a big bow of mixed Lego to share. The only sets we ever got were just the ones of mixed pieces. The ones that didn't have any guides with them.

Is your closet organized? If so, how? It is. from left to right: items that I only were once a year, dresses, tops, empty coat hangers, nighties/night shirts, cardigans and jumpers and finally jumpers I only wear at night.

If you could dye your hair any colour, regardless of how you think it would look, what colour would you choose? Blue. But don't think I would want to do all of my hair. Maybe half at most.

Headphones or earbuds? I prefer earbuds if I am using them for a long time. Headphones start to hurt my ears.

Can you read analog clocks? Yes. I actually prefer them.

Describe your favourite stuffed animal, either now or from when you were a kid. A clown. Light blue and white suit and hat. He has a net ruffle around the base of his hat and around his neck. He also has light blue bunny slippers. I got him for my first Christmas, he was the first plush I got after I was born. I call him Mr. Clown.

Do you mind if others are in the kitchen when you’re cooking or baking? As long as they are not in my way, they're fine.

What scent is your deodorant? Unscented. I have contact dermatitis and a lot of scents trigger it so I just stay clear if it has to directly touch my skin.

Do you have any games on your phone? If so, which one(s) is/are your favourite? I have a few puzzle games for when I get too bored or if I am waiting while I am out. I quite enjoy the riddle ones.

Do you shower with the lights on or off? Depends how light it is in the bathroom.

What do you do with spare change? I keep it and use when I need to. Or I just put it all in a self checkout machine as I don't feel bad giving it to them.

Do you have good handwriting? No. My handwriting has always been bad. In my first year of secondary school they had me doing handwriting lessons to try and improve it. The only thing to come out of them was me only using black ink as the teachers could read it better than blue.

Do you like to go on walks? I do. I love listening to my iPod while walking round nature.

Do you have a favourite plate or bowl? Both. Also have a favourite cup, knife, fork and spoon.

What’s your favourite thing to do when it’s raining? I enjoy playing video games, reading with a hot chocolate or watching creepy/paranormal videos.

Describe your perfect sleeping conditions. Cold outside, cool room and a nice thick quilt. I can sleep the whole night through.

Burners hcs

Chuck my beloved 🩵

-Chuck’s anxiety spikes out of control sometimes and so he’s often up and at ‘em even at like 4am just mechanically coding well into the morning just bc he can’t sleep. Other Burners have TRIED to help him fall asleep and they’ve had varying levels of success but no one really knows how to combat Chuck’s insomnia for sure

-Older Chuck smokes weed like a chimney and you cannot convince me otherwise, that boi self medicates like his life depends on it. His whole room be dank as hell

-Messy af room btw, but there is def a method to his madness. Wires and car parts EVERYWHERE tho and also scraps of cloth that he cuts and sews shittily for his LARPing stuff. He still loves it tho

-I love the hcs floating around that he can be very assertive when he wants to be, and likes to take control every now and then :) I’ll leave it at that for now :)

-Chuck tried making a racing game for the Burners, and he got so far as figuring out how to model everyone’s cars but eventually gave up on that passion project after the race in Blonde Thunder. Even just being behind a virtual wheel was too distressing for him LOL

-He’s canonically a cyborg and spends time looking up, downloading, modifying random codes for his own internal wiring. He “mods” himself sometimes and as anxious as he can be, he’s very confident in his programming skills and trying out sketchy codes on himself

-That being said, he’s kinda insecure about being part-robot. No one but him and maybe Mike knows exactly how much of him is metal, and how much of him is organic. He keeps that info to himself bc of self-doubt. Who knows how the rest of the Burners will treat him if they knew? It’s bad enough that he doesn’t know how to drive!

-Besides programming, Chuck actually does try to take up a bunch of other hobbies like learning to play a guitar, a keyboard, trying to improve his sewing skills so he doesn’t just make messy stitches on LARPing costumes, painting, doodling etc etc but like Mike always says “sometimes being a Burner can get in the way of personal stuff”

-PIERCED CHUCK PROPAGANDA!!! I definitely buy into it!! Chuck may hate getting tattoos but this dude gets pierced up later on, I JUST KNOW IT. He has a cool collection of piercings on his ears (daith, triple helix, industrial, orbital etc etc) as well as tongue piercings and… other piercings 😏

-I truly believe that Chuck ran away to MC first— before Mike— and then they met up again there when Chuck heard about a “cadet who saved an apartment full of ppl”

-He ran away in the 1st place after believing that he “lost” Mike when Mike got promoted from being a jr cadet to a full cadet. They hung out together a lot less after that and Chuck couldn’t ignore the evil he was finding as he was training to be part of R&D… so he dipped, terrified and lonely

-Jacob “adopted” Chuck immediately after taking pity on him. One could only watch a scrawny blonde kid stumble around Motorcity and get picked on for so long lol

-That makes Chuck Thee Original Burner!! Fight me about it

-Chris P. confirmed that Chuck knew about cars even while living up in Deluxe, often bragging about how well he’d drive if he ever got in one. It was Chuck who introduced the concept of cars and driving to Mike in the 1st place when they were younger

-Chuck is JUST AS protective of Mike as Mike is of the Burners, that’s his childhood friend!

Mike 💚

-Has his cadet days drilled into his bones unfortunately, this poor guy always does his bed up military style, wakes up at 6am SHARP every single day and works out first thing in the morning. Still, the routine helps a lot and it’s one of the only habits he appreciates from his past

-Has nightmares not too often but… when they hit, they hit bad. Sometimes he just decides not to sleep at all and just joins Chuck on a couch somewhere

-I truly believe he has ADHD!! I’m integrating that into my belief system fuck it

-Bc of that, he often forgets to take care of himself. And not even in the bad I’m-gonna-do-this-dangerous-thing-that-might-kill-me kinda way (well most of the time) but the oops-I-forgot-to-eat-and-it’s-been-8-hrs-since-my-last-meal kinda way. Chuck definitely helps remind him to eat and take breaks, otherwise Mike’s gonna jump into another hours-long errand run across Motorcity without even eating a peanut

-Mike’s super grateful for Chuck, they’re opposites in the way where they complete each other. Chuck eats CONSTANTLY and likes to nap often, Mike basically paces himself on Chuck’s schedule when he’s feeling all out of wack and can’t take care of himself. Chuck happily bosses Mike around and makes him do some self care when this happens

-Older Mike might have some reservations about drugs n shit (good ol Deluxe conditioning in his skull) but he’s not an asshole to other ppl about it. That being said, this mf smokes cigs like a chimney and loves them. Cigarettes are the only thing he smokes, he doesn’t like being not-sober bc it makes him feel like he’s out of control (and the Terras drugging him in “Mayhem Night” didn’t help with that either lol)

-Where Chuck’s room is messy and chaotic, Mike’s room is scarily perfect. He stress cleans so ofc his room is gonna look pristine! Neatly folded sheets and shoes all in a straight line near the door, clothes all hung up perfectly in his closet just like in his cadet days. Not a wrinkle or a spot to be seen anywhere

-Likes to garden as a stress-reliever as well. Mike’s gotta use his hands and get his body moving or else he’ll Explode. He joins Jacob in his supermarket or just does chores around the garage whenever he can

-Burners know that the neater the hideout looks, the worse Mike’s mental health is tho. It sucks, they’re still figuring out how to help calm him down sometimes

-Funny, but for a guy who’s so sunny and upbeat all the time, Mike fuckin LOVES scary dark music. Grindcore and black metal are his top fave genres, much to Chuck’s chagrin. Chuck doesn’t hate metal, it’s just that listening to terrifying hardcore music while Mike’s doing donuts mid-air in Mutt after going 325mph absolutely doesn’t help calm his nerves

-Mike is… not very good with emotional stuff. He’s also shown in the show to be a lil short-sighted and DUMB as hell when it comes to taking social cues (the employee at the refinery acting weird and CLEARLY reading from a cue card in “The Duke of Detroit Presents…”, Chuck’s personality doing a total 180 IMMEDIATELY after Julie brings in the Kaneco booster… like Mike why in gods name would you miss those obvious signs) and it’s probably bc he was trained to be emotionally stunted as a military boy. He still tries his best tho <3

Dutch 💜

-Chuck and Dutch are the bestest buds aside from Chuck n Mike, don’t @ me. They work on the Burners’ cars all the time, how could they not be! Dutch is always giving Chuck props on wiring and upgrading the cars and Chuck thinks that Dutch’s designs and mechanical skills are godly

-Dutch eventually takes their art off the paper and walls and moves onto tattooing after seeing so many Motorcitizens rocking cool art on their arms. They start just like any other teen tho: shitty stick n pokes

-Eventually, the other Burners want tattoos on themselves too (well not Chuck cuz he’s a weenie LOL) and Dutch is more than happy to provide. Even Mike asks for one, much to everyone’s surprise. Julie gets a couple tiny ones where she can easily hide it from her dad. And everyone gets a Burner tat, absolutely

-Ok yeah I also integrate “Dutch is an enby” into my belief system. Sue me. He doesn’t believe in the concept of gender, just goes by he/they for convenience but I really think he doesn’t give a single fuck about it all otherwise

-They start learning from Tennie after going steady in their relationship, and they bring back all the sweet Cabler’s knowledge into the Burners’ car upgrades

-Claire and Dutch start chatting about fashion one day while Julie runs off and leaves them to hang out. After that, Dutch is much more mindful of his wardrobe and even hits her up sometimes to swap fashion ideas and tips

-They love customizing like, everything ever that they can get their hands on. Dutch’s room is for sure the most tricked-out one in the hideout, complete with custom furniture, decked out wall of lights (that Chuck helped program to feature Dutch’s art on it) and more art on the walls than anywhere else in the garage. It’s Dutch’s own slice of heaven

-Older Dutch also partakes in the smoking of the zaza, so him and Chuck just chill out in their lil weed corner outside (bc Mike and Julie hate the smell so no smoking indoors!) just puffing on blunts and showing off new bowls and bongs that they recently bought

-Dutch goes to Chuck to figure out how to establish a private non-traceable line so he can call his family every now and then without alerting Kane grunts. He updates them about stuff (and privately tells Dar about Tennie lol)

-Dutch picked up ROTH’s body after a battle against the Kane bots, intending on studying the metal polymer stuff Kaneco makes to use on the Burners’ cars. But then ROTH woke up, the battle completely wiping his intended functional coding and shocking the hell out of Dutch. But ROTH didn’t attack, and then slowly but surely everyone got used to having a floating Kanebot cluelessly wandering around the base. Dutch decided to paint the bot so he doesn’t keep surprising everyone LOL

Julie 💛

-She’s a weeb idgaf if everyone else thinks so too, it’s my hc now. She pirates and downloads shitty old anime onto drives with Chuck’s help and brings them up to Deluxe so she can watch them in secrecy

-Julie has a room in Deluxe ofc but she also has one built for her down in Motorcity as well. She thinks that the room that she has freedom to decorate and customize is way more “her”. She’s got anime figurines, posters that Dutch painted for her (featuring her fave anime characters ofc), plushies practically spilling out from the shelves, and she’s so happy that she gets to have a room where she can really be free!

-Julie pops the collar of her vest, inspired by Mike

-Idk what kinda music is allowed in Deluxe (probably nOT MUCH) but anyways Julie discovers pop and techno in Motorcity and literally cannot shut up about it afterwards. The other Burners do not really share her enthusiasm for Kpop but they try to be supportive nonetheless

-Jules is oddly enthusiastic about music in general. How could she not be, after hearing only pleasant elevator music all her life? She obsesses over playlists and makes ALL the playlists for the Burners

-She’s the sentimental one for sure. She hoards more stuff in her room in MC than in Deluxe but either way, wherever she makes a space for herself, it’ll always be filled with photos and doodles and lil gifts she receives from other ppl. Even 9Lives has a couple toy charms dangling from mirrors and compartments lol

-Julie loves makeup and painting nails, something she got from Claire. She tried to hide it away from the Burners to “fit in” and then immediately blew that cover once Dutch broke out the nail polish and started to paint their nails one day. After that, she teams up with them to paint everyone’s nails and does cute designs

-She DID know about Mike before formally meeting him after he defected. Ofc, she’s always been observant even tho Kane always tried to hide her away from the public. After Mike ran away to MC, Julie watched it all go down from her dad’s security cams and followed him down there. She has to pretend she doesn’t even know much about Mike, despite having access to his files

-Mike and Julie are The Shippers and wingmen of the group FOR SURE. I know this is kinda canon but idc, you can’t convince me they don’t get together and gossip about other ppl’s relationships all the time. Mike only knows about other ppl having crushes just bc of how observant Jules is

-Julie’s stolen cop car isn’t from Deluxe, it’s from a junkyard in Motorcity. Cops were disbanded in MC a while ago— courtesy of the gangs lol— so that meant easy pickings for Julie

Texas ❤️

-Born and raised in Motorcity (confirmed by creator), Texas helped run his family’s automotive business fixing up cars from junkyards and selling them/their parts (mostly to the Duke lbr). He was the only Burner who had a car even before the Burners formed

-He was The Ride before Mike and Chuck finally built up Mutt and got her running properly, but his car wasn’t Stronghorn just yet, just a custom car cobbled up from various other car parts that he borrowed from his dad

-I truly do believe Texas has a huge family with like a million siblings and that’s why he’s able to get away for long periods of time and do crazy stuff with the Burners all the time

-Potential angst right there… maybe. Cuz he doesn’t get enough attention at home being one of like… 7 or 8 kids or something 😅

-Chris P. said Texas’ parents are the total opposite of him and are intellectuals. Maybe they’re also from Deluxe (R&D even) and couldn’t see themselves having children safely there after Kane went crazy with power, so they ran away to MC and gave birth to their kids there. For as long as Texas can remember, his dad ran the auto shop and his mother headed the Motorcity development council. His parents are VERY involved in the community but… not very involved with the family

-I LOVE the idea that Texas and his siblings are all named after the states. I feel like Alaska, Iowa, Delaware, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Dakota, Nebraska… even Maine are cute names!

-Yknow what… those all sound like girl names lowkey. What if Texas is the ONLY brother in his family which is why he hams up his masculinity so much? Hc accepted. Texas and his 7 sisters, I dig it

-Hear me out. Texas initially taught Dutch the basics of constructing a car, transferring and modifying engines, etc etc but Dutch is a smart cookie and eventually their knowledge surpassed Texas’

-Texas is the movie buff of the group and fucken loves sci-fi, old westerns, martial arts, noir and thriller movies. His room is overflowing with movie memorabilia, posters, and shitty crayon doodles of his movie heroes. Any time he’s got downtime he’s always on his lil VR movie headset goggles rewatching something called “5 Dragons of the West: Journey to the Gold Snake” or something

-Texas, like Julie, doesn’t live in the Burners Hideout since he always just goes home after the end of the day. Only Mike, Dutch, and Chuck live there full-time. -Texas is ridiculously emotionally intelligent, even tho he’s a knucklehead most of the time and I believe it’s bc he’s got a ton of siblings. He’s also one of the middle children too, so he’s capable around lil kids as well

-Junior and Texas absolutely have SOME history together. Maybe they even grew up together, as that’s not so far-fetched since ppl might buy cars from Texas’ dad’s shop to enter the competitions in the Mama’s Boys Arena

-Obviously The Dad of the group of ragtag kids. Mike and Chuck aren’t the only kids that Jacob’s helped out of the rubble of MC, but they are the only ones who stuck around. Yes, Jacob’s an old crazy coot but he has endless patience and plenty of seaweed casseroles for everyone :)

-Motorcitizens know him as The One Who Helps Orphans, specifically ex-Deluxians since he’s one of the only elders who’s been up in Deluxe and didn’t disappear amongst the Motorcity population yet. In “Off the Rack” there’s a split-second where Jacob’s shown greeting the recent Deluxian defectors at Antonio’s, I feel like he takes responsibility over helping Deluxians integrate into MC

-Bc of that, he’s got some p sweet connects across the city. Jacob’s got doctors and nurses, librarians with info, and resources all on speed dial just for the kiddos

-Jacob was the 1st person to show Mike what a car was irl and showed him how to drive in Sasquatch. It was Mike and Chuck who figured out how to build Mutt in the 1st place tho, and they took lots of inspo from the old car magazines lying around Jacob’s office in the supermarket

-The lil haunted house the Burners built for Halloween for the kids of MC was Jacob’s idea :)

-Doc Hudson and Jacob absolutely hook up after Hudson gets settled in MC, sue me. If you cringe at the idea of two old men bumping uglies, you are weak and will not survive the winter

-MC basically celebrates every holiday with a parade or a giant block party somehow, and the city’s first Pride Parade did not disappoint. Jacob made sure to sign the kids up for a spot in the parade and helped them build the float. It got crashed by Kanebots (of course) but the Burners saved the day (again!)

-Jacob stays away from the Burners’ main living space but still lives close by to check in on them every now and then. But he gives the boys their privacy for the most part

-Jacob DOES have Texas’ parents on speed dial as well. Which he uses to threaten Texas into behaving every now and then, but it’s no use. Everyone knows he never calls anyone’s parents unless it’s an emergency lol

they remember life before the war-before the founding of the kingdoms. when everything and everyone was ruled by the vampires.

icarus has never been one to be ruled by one they deem unfit. when time came to ally with the humans and fight back? ari made good use of their skills. not out of any heartfelt devotion to their fellow fae or out of sympathy for the humans-solely because living under vampire rule was...inconvenient.

when the war was over and the dust settled and the three kingdoms were founded, the maresh family was awarded a noble status for their contributions. a boon-but one that came with far too many responsibilities for ari's taste. after what they experienced under the vampires? they had no interest in ruling.

while icarus is still a lord in name, they have little interests in politics. instead they saw a business opportunity. people needed somewhere to go after the war-somewhere to relax and blow off steam and, most importantly, lose their money.

thus the indigo room was born. built in the less refined section of branholm, it saw all manner of guest and patron walk through their doors. some won big-most lost bigger.

when the owner of said tavern can peruse your thoughts as easily as most can a book-it tends to skew the odds in favor of the house.

it is a rare few who know that icarus is daemati, a fact that they like to keep close to their chest. centuries of experience under their belt-including a decade or two in a time of war? they are a rather skilled practitioner of the art.

the ability has come in handy time and time again-largely in ari's side business of smuggling items or people across kingdom borders. guards can hardly report something they cannot remember. ari has used this ability to cross the border himself on several occasions.

they also quite enjoy learning secrets-sifting through the minds of their patrons for any information that they might find useful-or that the highest bidder would pay a king's bounty for.

their business-both legitimate and otherwise-have earned ari a large amount of friends, and an even larger amount of money. they haven't relied on their family for support for centuries, and that suits them just fine.

despite participating little in the political game, ari isn't afraid to use their title as lord to persuade-or intimidate-as the maresh name still holds weight among the nobility.

with the borders opening between kingdoms, ari is about to lose out on a good portion of their business. to compensate, they've sought to make the indigo room a neutral ground of sorts-eager to open its doors to vampire, human, or fae.

and so long as all obey the rules of the house, all are welcome. but should someone break the rules? well...a daemati has their ways.
