It's been a hot minute since I played Halo Infinite. As someone who has a functional but permanently injured right wrist and shoulder, it's SO COOL that Infinite allows your Spartans to have prosthetic limbs. I wish that the armor pieces were still present on the limbs, but still. It's cool as hell. I bet people who actually have prosthetics are super excited about it.

So.... This game is 2 years old now huh?
Tumblr media
Honestly... I don't think i have a TON to say about this game. It's just a great ass fucking video game that has given me a lot of fun and great memories!
This game came out during my final year of school, which is kinda funny considering that Splatoon 3 acts like a "finale" to a trilogy. It's interesting how those kinds of things work out eh? Splatoon 2 came out at the start of my secondary education, and Splatoon 3 came out at the tail end of my final year.
I remember thinking before the game came out, "why do we need a Splatoon 3? This is pointless, it's just more Splatoon 2." And then my mind was quickly changed once i got to play the Splatfest test fire and the actual game itself.....
I completed ROTM in such a short amount of time and i documented my reactions to my friends. Although i was spoiled in that Deep Cut had boss fights and Mr. Grizz was the final boss, ROTM still gave me a giant smile to my face all the way through. It was so fun, so charming and just a really good single player experience.
Tumblr media
One of the things that i LOVE about Splatoon 3 is the vibe. I just love the location of Splatsville, i love the aesthetics, the lighting, the model improvements from Splatoon 2, the music, it's my favourite art style/aesthetic out of any of the Splatoon games by far. It just feels so polished, i don't know how to exactly describe it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also the fact that this game won best multiplayer game of 2022 over CALL OF DUTY! OVERWATCH 2 AND MULTIVERSUS MAKES ME SO GIDDY AND HAPPY!
Tumblr media
PEOPLE GOT MAD ABOUT THIS AND THAT MAKES ME WANNA EVIL LAUGH! All of those fucking depressed and sad Call of Duty players who whine and complain about how "wahh modern gaming sucks!! There's no good games anymore wahhh!! It's all microtransactions wahhh!!" BITCH! SPLATOON 3 IS LITERALLY THE GAME YOU'VE BEEN ASKING FOR!! Yet you won't play it because it's on Nintendo huh? Yeah... You're a fucking PUSSY!! YOU'RE WEAK!! You're SCARED to be seen as less of a manly man!! You only wanna play games with oily dirty buff men.... Yet you call others who play games like Splatoon gay? Hmm..... Sounds like you're a wittle insecureeeeee!!!!
Have fun rotting in microtransaction hell you LOSERS!! GAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways.... uh.... sorry....
I also fucking love Deep Cut too. I thought i wasn't gonna like these guys and i remember thinking when i first saw them "oh... okayyyy..."
But now? I love these bastards.
Tumblr media
I love their dynamic and how they are bandits but they actually wanna help the people back in Splatsville. That is such a cool and unique take to have for Idol characters. The Squid Sisters are very cutesy and so are Off the Hook, but Deep Cut aren't. They are loud, messy, chaotic, in your face, rude, etc. They are about contrast and the character designers did a phenomenal job at conveying that theme via their backgrounds and looks.
Another thing that i love about Splatoon 3 is that it also acts as a celebration of things that have come before, Inkopolis Plaza and Square return as hubs, old colour combos from previous games act as loading screens, most of the music returns in the jukebox, it rewards long time fans for sticking around and for a long running franchise IT'S SUPER IMPORTANT to have that stuff!!!
Seeing the improvements in the model quality from Splatoon 1 to 3 genuinely makes me kinda emotional, it shows how far we've come in just a little under 10 years...
It really homes in on the point that... These characters, have grown up with us.... The Squid Sisters are about to reach their mid 20s, Pearl is nearly 30 fucking years old!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the last thing i wanna bring up before i talk about the Grand Fest...
...Is Side Order.
Tumblr media
This fucking DLC... My god... Being able to experience it by myself and just enjoy the stuff i was seeing, being able to SCREAM AND CRY AS MUCH I WANT WAS SO IMPORTANT TO ME DUDE!
When i got to the 10th floor in the tutorial and i saw Marina Agitando staring me down.... I did the loudest gasp a human could possibly do and my jaw was hung to the floor for a solid MINUTE!
Tumblr media
Marina's first fucking dev diary made me cry and scream, THAT IS NOT A JOKE!!!! THESE CHARACTERS ARE THAT IMPORTANT TO ME!
Tumblr media
And the final boss.... Made me cry, it broke me down, i was singing along to Ebb and Flow as best as i could, it felt like i was brought back to 2018, being in my room, listening to that song on repeat... I feel like a kid again....
I love this song... i love it so much... Like it's not the most hype finale song ever, but, the emotion behind it, the build up from Splatoon 2... The power this song has in it's meaning... It's some good shit man...
youtube
So yeah! I love Splatoon 3!!! It's my favourite game out of the series and anyone who is gonna jump into this game now is gonna have a LOT to chew on.
And... It's both sweet and sad that we're at the end. This is it... The moment we've been waiting for. The final Splatfest to end them all. The event 9 years in the making.
The Grand Festival...
Tumblr media
I am extremely excited and so FUCKING NERVOUS for this Splatfest!!!! I know i am going to cry and be so overwhelmed with joy. Seeing the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook perform their old songs again after all of these years is gonna make me sob so loudly it's not even funny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These characters genuinely mean the world to me and it's gonna be so fucking hard for me to watch their final major appearance and say goodbye. Cause after this, we don't know what's gonna happen. I know they will come back, they have to but... In what capacity? That's what I'm scared about...
So yeah, let's savior this moment when it eventually arrives, take all the time you need to be engulfed in the Grand Fest.
Thank you Splatoon 3, you have given me so much.... It's not time to say goodbye just yet but, i wanna watch you as you walk into the sunset with your head held high....

Game On | Gamer!Rafe Cameron x Gamer!Reader
First Game
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: One day, you step into the unfamiliar world of Call of Duty, unsure of what to expect. As the chaos unfolds, a smooth, teasing voice cuts through the tension, offering guidance and unexpected camaraderie. What starts as a random match becomes something more, leaving you intrigued by the connection forged in the midst of gunfire and strategy.
Pairings: gamer!reader & gamer!rafe
Warnings: N/A
Author's Note: Let me know if you guys like this concept and want more of it!
Tumblr media
It was a late Friday night, the air crisp outside but warm inside your room as you settled in for your first-ever Call of Duty session. You had spent the last few weeks watching gameplay videos, trying to learn the ropes, but you knew tonight would be your real initiation into the world of multiplayer gaming. You weren't sure what to expect, but you were eager.
With your headset snug around your ears and your controller in hand, you queued up for a random match. As the loading screen began, a voice came through the headset.
"Yo, you new to this?" The voice was smooth, teasing, but also somehow welcoming.
You jumped slightly, not expecting someone to talk so soon. You had just barely gotten the game started, and you were still figuring out the controls.
"Uh... yeah," you admitted, not sure how to respond. "First time, actually."
"Nice, you're in for a ride," the voice chuckled, sounding amused. "I’m Rafe, by the way. And you are?"
"(Y/N)," you said, still adjusting your controller as the game finally loaded, your avatar popping into the map. "I’m hoping I don’t totally mess this up."
"No promises, but I'll try not to let you die too fast." Rafe’s laughter was infectious, and somehow, it made you feel more at ease. You were still figuring out the controls, but having someone to chat with helped take the edge off.
The match began, and instantly, you were thrown into the chaos of gunfire and explosions. Rafe’s voice came through again, guiding you.
"Alright, go left—watch your six!" he warned as you awkwardly navigated your character, trying to figure out how to aim and shoot without getting killed immediately. You managed to take cover behind a crate, heart racing as you peeked around.
“Got your back, just stay low.” His voice was steady, like he’d done this a thousand times.
You didn't need much guidance to know when things were going wrong, and in the next few moments, you found yourself at the mercy of an enemy soldier. But just as you were about to be gunned down, a shot rang out, taking the enemy out.
“Did you—?” you asked, astonished.
"Yep," Rafe replied casually. "Just wanted to make sure you didn’t get your first kill too easily."
Your heart skipped a beat, both for the adrenaline rush of surviving and for the way Rafe seemed to always be a step ahead. You were starting to get the hang of things, moving cautiously but with growing confidence.
Throughout the match, Rafe guided you like a pro, his voice always just a step ahead. You learned quickly—taking cover, timing your reloads, using the environment to your advantage—and before you knew it, you were a lot better than you had expected to be.
"Nice shot!" Rafe complimented you as you managed your first headshot, your fingers trembling in excitement as you took down an enemy from a distance.
“Thanks!” you grinned, surprised by how good it felt. “I actually got one?”
“Hell yeah, you did. You're not half-bad for a newbie,” he said, teasing, but there was a hint of admiration in his voice.
The match came to an end, with your team pulling off a narrow victory. The satisfaction of winning, even in your rookie status, was unmatched. As the post-game stats flashed across the screen, you couldn't help but feel proud of your performance, especially after Rafe’s guidance.
"First time playing and you’re already carrying the team," Rafe said, sounding impressed. "You sure you're a newbie?"
You laughed. "Totally. If you had seen me at the start, you’d know how lost I was."
“Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.” Rafe’s tone softened, and you could hear a smile in his voice. "You sure you don’t wanna team up again sometime? Could show you some more tricks of the trade."
You hesitated, the idea of playing again with someone as skilled as him both exciting and intimidating. But then again, he’d already shown he was patient with you.
"Yeah, I'd like that. Maybe I can return the favor next time," you said, feeling more confident than you had when you first started the match.
“Deal,” Rafe replied, his voice smooth with that easy confidence. "Till next time, (Y/N)."

Thinking about Unlockables in game design.
Lately, unlockables have been avoided since locking content/settings behind unlockables restricts what players have access to when they start a game. Players should have the freedom to play the game how they want right? Imagine how shitty a player would feel if they don't get to play that cool character they saw in a video. What do you mean I can't play this mode until complete all these challenges? I want to do it now!!!
I understand the sentiment, but unlockables do something extremely well that a lot of other mechanics can't. "Encouragement".
It's hard to think of a greater reward than "more content". Unlockables give the player just that. It's a strong motivator to play more of the game if you know you'll get some more stuff to play with.
They can also give a strong sense of progression. Even if the singleplayer experience is a little weak, making it so you earn new stuff as you go can add so much to it.
Plus, unlockables encourages players engage with the depth a game has instead of just reaching the credits and putting it down.
My favorite example of this is probably Kirby Air Ride. If you know about that game, you have probably heard people sing high praises about the City Trial mode, but that's not the part I'm talking about here.
Kirby Air Ride has a racing mode called... "Air Ride". It's the first thing selected on the menu screen. You open it up, start playing, and you'll see just 8 tracks to select. After selecting a track, you are given 1 vehicle to select before you start the race.
It's the most barebones experience ever. Your options are egregiously limited. Worst of all, Air Ride isn't even that good from the perspective of someone who just started the game! The controls are super simple, the copy abilities barely do anything to racers, and while you can unlock more vehicles, they're super unbalanced!
Yeah, Air Ride is an unbalanced and lame mess at first. After playing one race, you almost certainly unlocked SOMETHING. You're brought to a challenge board that shows off which challenges you completed. Some challenges unlock things like new vehicles, kirby colors, settings, and more!
You try out whatever new thing you unlocked and WABAM! You have completed more challenges! Even though Air Ride is a lame mode with little content, a player can easily get intrigued by all of these challenges. What else do they unlock?
So lets say you start doing these challenges on purpose now. There's a lot of variety there. Some are time trials, some make you perform specific tricks with copy abilities, some ask you to use specific vehicles.
Some force you to learn a ton of things about a track like, "Use every boost pad in a lap!". Now you have to explore the track to make sure you hit them all.
These challenges make the player engage with the mechanics and reveals a TON of depth without any of it being a tutorial. Through these challenges you learn copy abilities can give you big boosts of speed when used right, you learn the the many different routes you can take in a track, you learn how to go as fast as possible with each vehicle, you learn the strengths and weaknesses of them all.
In the meantime, you keep unlocking more things. The game opens up more and more to you. That initial roster of a single vehicle balloons to 15 and now you know the intricacies of each one. You learn the nuance of every track. Suddenly, there's all this depth that the player would have likely never appreciated if the game just gave them all the settings at the start.
Nothing makes a player "get gud" faster than unlockables. Old fighting games would hide extra stuff behind unlockables and it forced you to get better at the game just so you can mess with that content. It's a genius way to make a player learn and engage with a game.....
Now, I understand the drawback. The freedom is restricted for this to work. Multiplayer games would get shunned to hell for hiding content behind unlockables. I believe in a multiplayer experience, players should have access to whatever they want, but when they go into singleplayer unlockables should absolutely be utilized.
and when I say unlockables I don't mean collectibles or stat buffs or items or whatever. I mean actual parts of the game you just don't have access to until you unlock it. I think it's cool I want to see more modern games do it.
Y'know, most of the shit that gets locked behind microtransactions would have been super cool as just unlockables. Shame.

Infinity Nikki - 1.5
Listen i know that most of you won't read this (I'm mainly a DC blog) but I'm just SO UPSET - also I have Infinity Nikki in my profile.
...
Context: I play a game called Infinity Nikki. It is a gacha game centred around the female demographic where you pull for outfits and instead of combat, focus on platforming in the most GORGEOUS open world i have ever played.
This current version (1.5) was meant to do a lot - introduce a major outfit which is FAMOUS in this game franchise that's completely free to craft, a dyeing system that expands the current colour options, and co-op multiplayer that lets us be more lesbian with our fellow stylists! We were also finally getting a steam release!
This was also meant to optimise the game - this game is built on Unreal Engine 5, and mobile + ps5 have been struggling to get good quality, but they've been really consistent with improving the game so far - as a tablet player, the difference is outstanding!
So yeah, everyone was HYPED, especially after 1.4 was... pretty empty.
...
But we can't have nice things, can we?
...
Bugs that make the game shitty for some, unplayable to others.
A complete retcon of the fucking story, replaced by some shitty multiverse that focused more on the LIMITED BANNER OUTFITS than the actual free major outfit of the patch (the sea of stars).
Pointless/invisible pieces added to limited banner outfits, increasing the pity to make it harder to pull outfits.
An extension of the endgame without additional rewards, despite it being the major way for free-to-play players like me earn the currency.
HEAVY MONETISATION - the dyeing system costs a new currency PER PIECE, the prices have been secretly hiked, fake sales which are INSANE and technically illegal, and as I said - more pieces to banner outfits which makes them harder to pull for.
Oh right, and the game is still UNPLAYABLE!
They even nerfed one of the new limited banner outfit abilities (y'know, the one which they made harder to collect) secretly last night, without giving any information in advance.
...
They've fixed some things - the endgame is reset to be twice a month again, and they're doing a lot of bug fixes, but NOTHING to help players log in, nothing to fix the god-awful story retcon. I can't fucking believe it with my own two eyes - this was the patch titled 'No More Empty Promises'!
...
Before anyone comes at me with 'this is just how gacha games are' -NO. I played Wuthering Waves when it released and was hell to run. I played Honkai: Star Rail for two years before I got sick of the meta. I've never seen a game, so built on player trust and care, fuck up SO BADLY.
I never thought that I'd want to quit a game so soon after it launches - but it's been a week with no major compensation except for 30 pulls before going on a five-day vacation. Which the devs deserve of course, but a horrible release date nonetheless.
...
There's so much more that's wrong by the way, but I just NEEDED to say something about this - I love this game, but I HATE it right now.
I thought this game was for girls. I thought this company, while still being shitty anyways, would at least make the game worth the time. I hope to god that I'm still right, and that this isn't the end of me playing it.
...
If anyone wants some good information about what's wrong, watch this (no clickbait, no stupid rage posts, just good, disappointed criticism.)

In my dream last night there were a bunch of YouTubers playing a game where your goal was to kidnap the other players and bring them back to your base. It actually seemed like a pretty fun multiplayer game, you had to slow down players or weaken them and trap them in bundles basically. The funny part was that the dream was from the perspective of a Grian video, and for whatever reason, Dream Minecraft (yeah, that guy) was there and Grian was fucking roasting him constantly. I almost wish it was real. It was funny as hell Minecraft Grian roasts Minecraft Dream and then kidnaps him immediately

I had a thought (well 2)
What if mrs. König loved video games but one genre is multiplayer shooters with VOICE CHAT which just so happen to be male dominated.. what would he do? I can imagine he’d be like yeah no ✋
Then what if darling had a favorite fictional character which was a guy? Like holy shit he’s so hot and perfect type of guy? I can imagine they watch a show and said guy would come on and he’d just turn it off
Oh, hell no. His wife may play some silly little shooting games(even though he is very skeptical about her actually being good at the game and actually getting any kills whatsoever because she is so silly and dumb, she couldn't possibly be good at shooting, it's his job!!) but NOT with any friends, especially male ones. He is really annoying and trashy in his beliefs about his wife being good at games(and most girls, to be honest, who aren't his teammates because Roze can fucking kill him) but he will be remotely fine with you having a group of girlfriends in your shooting club. Anything else...yeah, you wish. As soon as he hears a male voice through your speakers - he has a freaking sixth sense and he will sit with you through your games, instructing you on how to fucking stop buying all of the time - he is making you quit the game, throwing your ranked under the bus, and explain why you are taking to other men. During a game where you have to shoot, like he can't just take you to the shooting range for a good time with his wifey!! Konig is just soooo frustrated and angry! Why do you need someone else?? He should be your favorite military man, he is real and ready to be with you! While the only thing you're doing is simping over some mid character who can barely even compare to him.

Trapped: Subnautica
"Alright, losers, try to keep up," Bakugou growled as his character leapt into the water. You invited Bakugou and some friends to play Subnautica, a very heavily modded version of Subnautica, because the game doesn't have multiplayer. Bakugou and you were the only ones who really knew how to play the game. He swam toward the nearest creepvine forest, his cocky voice cutting through the group's laughter.
"You know you're supposed to be gathering resources, not showing off, right?" You shot back, your voice teasing yet focused. Your base was already halfway constructed, and you weren't going to let Bakugou's bravado slow you down.
"Ha! I've already got more titanium than any of you extras combined," Bakugou barked, a triumphant smirk practically audible in his tone.
"Except for me," you quipped, earning a low grumble from him.
"Guys, come on, work together!" Izuku piped up, his character fumbling to craft basic tools. "We need to be ready if we run into the Leviathan-class creatures..."
"Don't jinx it, Deku-kun!" Uraraka yelped, her character frantically swimming away from a Stalker that had taken an interest in her Seamoth.
The group was chaotic but entertaining—Ashido was too busy joking to focus on survival, Kirishima kept trying to rescue everyone, and Todoroki's calm demeanor somehow made him a magnet for disaster. You were starting to feel like the only one with a clear endgame strategy besides Bakugou.
Just as you were about to deploy a scanner room near a wreck, the screen flickered. A strange distortion rippled across the game world, and an ominous, glitchy hum filled the air.
"Uh... did anyone else see that?" you asked, voice uneasy.
"Yeah, what the hell was—" Before Bakugou could finish, the distortion intensified. The screen glowed brighter, almost blindingly so, and a sensation like falling yanked you from your chair.
When your vision cleared, cold saltwater engulfed you. You broke the surface, gasping for air, only to find yourself floating in the middle of an endless ocean. The Aurora loomed in the distance, half-submerged and burning, just as it did at the start of Subnautica. But this wasn't just a game anymore.
"Holy crap," Kirishima spluttered nearby, treading water. "This... this can't  be real, right?!"
"No way. It can't be," Uraraka stammered, gripping onto Ashido's arm as if to anchor herself.
"It's very real," you muttered, scanning the horizon. The sensation of water against your skin, the distant calls of alien creatures... it was all too vivid to be virtual.
A loud splash interrupted your thoughts as Bakugou surfaced, glaring at the group. "What the hell did you extras do?!"
"Why do you always assume it's us?!" Ashido shot back, her voice tinged with panic. "We're just as clueless as you are!"
"It doesn't matter how we got here," Todoroki said calmly, though his expression betrayed his unease. "We need to figure out how to survive."
"You don't say, genius," Bakugou snapped, but his usual venom lacked its bite. Even he was shaken.
You turned to Bakugou, meeting his sharp gaze. "We both know how this works. The game has an end, and we need to reach it to get out. Even though it might take... forever..."
He stared at you for a moment before nodding, a rare flicker of respect in his crimson eyes. "Then let's get moving. The rest of you better not slow us down."
+++
The first few hours were chaos. The group struggled to adapt to the reality of survival in an alien ocean. You and Bakugou quickly fell into a rhythm, scavenging for resources and guiding the others with curt instructions.
"Izuku, you're overthinking it. Just craft the damn rebreather already," Bakugou growled, his patience wearing thin.
"I'm trying, Kacchan, but I don't have enough fiber mesh!" Izuku protested, fumbling with his inventory.
"Here," you said, handing Izuku the missing materials. "Focus on staying alive first. Exploration can wait."
As the group worked to build a basic base, you found yourself increasingly paired with Bakugou. The others relied on your combined knowledge of the game, and though his rough demeanor grated on everyone else, you found it oddly reassuring. It was keeping you grounded. And the fact that you knew this game like the back of your hand...
"You're not half bad at this." He admitted one evening as you both swam back to the base with a haul of rare materials.
"Wow, is that a compliment? From you?" You teased, earning an eye roll.
"Don't get used to it." He muttered, though his smirk betrayed his amusement.
+++
The deeper you ventured into the alien world, the more dangerous it became. Leviathans patrolled the depths, and resources grew scarcer. The pressure began to wear on the group. Ashido cracked jokes less often, though she did in the beginning, and even Kirishima seemed less optimistic.
One night, as the group rested in the base, you and Bakugou pored over a map of the ocean biomes, planning the next step.
"We're close to the Lost River." You said, tracing a path with your finger. "From there, it's the Lava Zone and then the Alien Facility. We'll get the parts for the rocket. That's how we end this."
"Assuming these extras don't get themselves killed first," Bakugou muttered, but his tone was quieter than usual. He glanced at you, his usual gaze softening. "You're not bad at keeping them in line."
You raised an eyebrow. "Is that your way of saying thanks?"
"Don't push it," he huffed, but you caught the faintest hint of a smile.
+++
As the days turned into weeks, you and Bakugou became an unspoken team. Where he was brash and decisive, you were methodical and cautious. Together, you navigated the challenges of the ocean with an efficiency that left the others in awe.
One day, while gathering resources in the Jellyshroom Caves, a swarm of Crabsnakes attacked. The group scattered, but you and Bakugou stayed calm, fending off the creatures and guiding the others to safety.
"You always this cool under pressure?" he asked as you swam beside him, your knife glinting in the bioluminescent light.
"Only when I have a reliable partner," you replied, surprising even yourself with the admission.
His smirk widened, but he didn't say anything else. The silence between you was comfortable, almost... intimate.
+++
By the time you reached the Aurora for the Neptune Escape Rocket blueprints, the group had grown stronger, more unified. Even Bakugou's harsh edges had softened, his usual insults tempered by grudging respect.
As you worked together to build the rocket for the group, Bakugou stood beside you, his expression uncharacteristically serious.
"You're not bad, y'know," he said quietly, his voice almost drowned out by the group clanking metal together to build the rocket. "For an extra."
You chuckled, your heart skipping a beat at the rare compliment. "Coming from you, that's practically a declaration of love."
"Don't push your luck," he grumbled, but the faint blush on his cheeks betrayed him.
+++
When the rocket was done and finally launched, the group erupted into cheers, tears streaming down some faces as the alien planet shrank below. You sat beside Bakugou, staring at the streaks of stars in the endless void. The realization hit you like a wave. You actually made it. You were alive. You guys were going home.
Without thinking, you turned and threw your arms around him, burying your face in his chest. "We made it," you whispered, your voice shaky with relief as your fingers dug into his submarine suit.
Bakugou stiffened at first, his usual brashness clearly warring with the moment, but he didn't push you away. He laid his hand on your back and instead, he let out a soft huff, his voice quieter than usual. "Damn right we did."
The warmth of his presence grounded you, and when you finally pulled back, his crimson eyes locked on yours. There was no smirk, no teasing. Just a rare flicker of something genuine, something unspoken.
"Alright, lovebirds, save it for later!" Ashido's voice cut through the moment, pulling both of you back to reality.
"Shut it, Raccoon Eyes!" Bakugou barked, his familiar scowl returning, but you didn't miss the faint blush creeping up his neck.
+++
When you finally woke back in your room, sprawled on the floor with the rest of the group, the relief was palpable. Kirishima let out a laugh, slumping against your desk. "Man, I never wanna see another ocean again."
"I second that," Uraraka mumbled, still half-asleep.
You glanced at Bakugou, who was leaning against the wall, arms crossed. He caught your eye and gave the smallest nod. You didn't need words to know. You'd both carried each other through the depths, and that bond wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

We Hate Kashyyyk
Hell yeah.
Featuring: Scorch
Word Count: 0.9k
Happy Scorch Day! 💛 For @deltasquadweek | Prompt Day 2: "Baby Wookiees?"
Tumblr media
“Oh lookie! Playing us again, I see!”
With my shots flying all over the place since I flinched, I hit the pause button with the force of an impatient businessman waiting on the elevator and ripped my headphones off. “Hello?! Knock first!”
Scorch munched loudly. I looked at the package in his grasp. Great. Stealing my wheat biscuits again, I see. “Your door's open,” he gestured.
I looked at him in disbelief. “Then tap my shoulder?”
He did.
“Di'kut,” I grumbled. The shabuir laughed, nudging me to go on and hit the Resume Game. Well, great. Good luck to me, I guess. I'd rather not have someone hovering behind my shoulder watching me doing stuff and messing up, thank you very much.
I carried on. Me playing as Boss wasn't even close as a Marine with a game console. Not even scratching the surface. I had terrible control on aiming—my grip on the mouse was eh and my table surface wasn't that supportive—and I still fumbled between keys. I got nervous switching between grenades because if I accidentally killed the squad with sonic det that bumped against a kriffing crate and I forgot to Quick Save, it was just karking over.
Sniping stuff had always been my favorite, although switching between the 10x and 20x scopes and going back to the default rifle was annoying. Always brought me to step back and away from the squad to gain distance from hostiles. Then sometimes I forgot to command a defend position, the squad wandered forward, everybody got killed, Advisor shouting in my ears that he read low vitals on my squad that triggered me to actually shout I KNOW out loud, and in the end it involved me hitting Restart Level.
So uh, not a pro. Decent. And took a lot of time. Still fun, though.
“Your play is osik.”
“Wow, thanks for saying that out loud Scorch.” I glared at him. “I don't game, FYI. Much less on PC. And I quit competitive multiplayer years ago.”
He raised his eyebrows, seemingly bemused. “Yeah? Why?”
“I'm a lame gal that can't take it,” I shrugged, “I get bored easily.”
“Boo, big L.”
I smacked his arm. He didn't even dodge.
“Bored easily huh?” Scorch mused, popping another biscuit into his mouth, “And yet this is your second replay.”
I paused the game and turned to give him my full attention. “Problem, man?”
“Yeah, with your aim.”
I groaned. “FPS isn't my thing!”
“You play this, which is apparently and undeniably FPS.”
“Because I was intrigued and I love you guys! Do notice my undying loyalty here! It's strong!”
Scorch nodded, impressed.
“And I'm not gonna be shy about that.”
“Manda, chillax, woman. I hear you,” he rolled his eyes, smiling a stupid smile and patting my hair.
…I'm not gonna be shy either that the gesture is my weakness, unfortunately.
“The garden has a pest problem,” in–game Scorch said as the squad made their way through, “Trandoshans.”
“Would you prefer baby Wookiees?” in-game Sev rumbled.
In-game Scorch paused. “Uh, not really. Too cute.”
I snickered. These two, ugh. I hit the pause button again and grinned at Scorch beside me, who had taken the liberty to grab an incorporeal chair and took a seat. “You have a thing with baby Wookiees or something?”
He gave me a baffled look. “What even is that accusing tone? They're cute!”
“Uh huh,” I smiled, “And I'm sure you know everybody's considered you cute as well with that personality, you ball of sunshine.”
Scorch beamed, pearly whites and all, scrambling to stand and bow. “Thank you, thank you. I love my fans as well.” He retook his seat. “But I have to ask you not to talk about my gett’se, though.”
“I wasn't even talking about your balls, you big goof.”
All I earned was a snicker and a nudge. I couldn't help but smile and returned the elbow as well before continuing on playing.
And it just had to be the Kashyyyk mission. The most dreaded of them all. Say what you want about Geonosis and Assault Ship…
“God, I hate Kashyyyk so much.”
Scorch hums, intently watching me pie-ing around a corner with the default sidearm. “We share the same sentiment, ad’ika.”
I clicked four times to down a B1. “I'm older than you, bub.” A swipe across the keyboard, I switched to the Trando submachine gun I acquired some time earlier and carried on. “I prefer Geonosis, actually. I like Geonosis.”
Scorch looked mortified. “Nobody ever said that.”
“The mission in the game, Scorch! The frickin’ game!”
“It's got the same vibes to it!” he argued, “The turrets, the SBD’s. I can't even look at canyons and sand the same way again! And don't even start with those stanging bugs with the elite beam!”
“God.” I grimaced as I paused the game—I'm really having this conversation. “I hate those guys.”
Scorch made an ah! noise. “See? Another agreement!”
I slapped my palm on his when he offered but only went through it. Right. Scorch snorted. A heavy sigh escaped me eventually.
“We're too hilarious to argue. I don't even know how Fixer keeps up with you and Sev, and now with me as the new addition.”
“Oh he'll live,” Scorch grinned, “Don't worry. You're with us, fellow crackhead. You're okay.”
It was a simple statement agreed upon, or maybe his own opinion. Either way, it sent a wave of reassurance and caused me to smile quite genuinely. “Good to know.”

Some scattered Switch 2 thoughts:
It's releasing much sooner than I expected, at about the price that I expected, but ughhhhhh that game price increase fucking sucks. That genuinely killed a lot of my hype.
The thing is mostly just a bigger, more powerful Switch, which is what I wanted, so that's cool! Mouse functionality is interesting even though I doubt I'd use it a lot. Nothing too surprising tbh.
I'm most likely never touching that chat button unless it's by accident. Like, ever. Just not my thing.
Charging money for that tech demo/tutorial thing is the most Nintendo thing ever and it's both hilarious and incredibly sad. This manages to be even more egregious than 1-2-Switch.
Free upgrades to Switch 1 games is cool! Some games will really appreciate it (looking at you, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet). I hope the list isn't limited to what they already showed and they have more upgrades coming in the future.
Paid upgrades is obviously less cool but at least these seem to include extra content so I'm looking at them as if they were DLC. I'll be judging these on a case-by-case basis, with the price obviously being a big factor. At least BotW and TotK are free for NSO members, so that might be a good excuse to revisit them. And hey, in any case, this beats rereleasing the same game at full price like we saw with all those Wii U ports. I'll take it.
GameCube games! Yipee! Genuinely so hyped for this, I have sooooo much nostalgia for these games and this will make them much more accessible. Sad that this probably means Wind Waker HD will remain in Wii U hell for the time being though.
Mario Kart World looks genuinely really fucking cool. Interestingly this is the first time a Mario Kart game is a launch title. Nintendo probably saw the sales of 8 Deluxe and said "yeah, we need this Day 1" and I honestly can't blame them. xd
NEW 3D DONKEY KONG HOLY SHIT. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, MY BOY IS BACK!!! Seriously I'm so hyped for this! I'm still a bit weirded out by DK's new design, but it's growing on me. He's so expressive! I can't wait to see more of this.
New Hyrule Warriors! Yay! I... still haven't played Age of Calamity, lol. But still, this is cool! Even though I would've preferred another Nintendo series to get the Warriors treatment rather than Zelda for the third time, I'm not complaining.
Kirby Air Riders! Never played the original Air Ride so I have no attachment to it, but I know it's a beloved title, and I'm happy to see Sakurai back for this. I guess this means no new Smash for a while, but it's fine, I can keep playing Ultimate for years.
Lots of third party support in general, which is nice to see. I recently got a PS5 so this isn't as relevant to me as it would've been a while ago (I can just play those games there), but seeing stuff like FFVII Remake is still really cool.
Nintendo-exclusive Bloodborne spiritual successor wasn't on my bingo card. These games aren't really my thing and this one seems to be focused on multiplayer so I'm even less interested, but still really funny to see. There was a cool rat person in the trailer though, I liked that.
Really surprised by no new 3D Mario. I thought we'd be seeing that for sure, with how long it's been since Odyssey. I guess DK Bananza is kinda taking that spot, so I'm not complaining! Give my boy the spotlight he deserves! Mario will come eventually.
Overall the console looks nice even if there's nothing incredibly surprising. While I'm really hyped about Mario Kart and DK, those aren't games I need to play on Day 1, so I'll probably wait. Especially considering that I just got a PS5. I also still have no idea how the pricing situation will be here in Chile. So... yeah, we'll have to wait and see. Lots of things to consider still.
Anyway. Decent first impressions with some ugly parts and some nice surprises. As a lifelong Nintendo fanboy I know I'll get a Switch 2 eventually, but I'm in no hurry. Probably. Still, a new console launch is an exciting time, and I'm glad we're finally getting concrete info on the damn thing after years of rumors, leaks and speculation, lol.
What did you all think?

cant find the original post but a while ago i impulsively decided to add all 32 sburb players (betas, alphas, alternians *and* beforans) to a random name generator and then randomly mix them up - characters kept their original first name and class, and took on the last name and aspect of whatever character they took the role of. this was just meant to be a funny 1am experiment so i could laugh at the cursed results
...yeah it has lore now. i cant stop thinking about it. help.
Beta Kids:
Gamz Egbert (Gamzee) - Bard of Breath. One of the most chill guys ever. Constantly zoned the hell out. Loves clowns :0) him and his dad bond over it. Hangs out with Kari a lot over vc, where it's basically just Kari talking at him uninterrupted (the kid needs it sometimes)
Kari Strider (Kankri) - Seer of Time. Gifted kid and he won't let you forget it. Permanently lives in a sweater vest even though he literally lives in Texas. Constantly annoyed by how childish and immature his older brother is. Lectures him a lot. Lectures his friends a lot. Has 'visions of his past lives' (aka occasional memories from his post-scratch/alternate timeline counterparts). Lectures his friends about how theyre real and valid whenever they make give him shit for it (which happens a lot). Dedicated pacifist - for now, anyway.
John Lalonde - Heir of Light. Golden child. Has an over-bearing mother that constantly pushes him into learning instruments/lanugages/skills, participating in competitions and events, winning award after award. Sure, he's... kinda sick of doing things all day every day, and he doesn't really want to do any of this, but... shouldn't he do it anyway? Even if just for his Mom? Hell, he can't really complain about it, right? He has such a good life! He goes horseback riding every sunday! Sure, it sucks that he doesn't have any free time that isn't controlled by his mother, but he can deal with it. It's fine.
(Things get even worse during the three year trip when Wuh Oh! Gender crisis time! Except he can’t be a girl because he was always meant to be his mom’s perfect son, and he’s already let her down once by letting her die, right? He can just… live with this. Its fine. It's not that bad. It's for her, after all.)
Roxy Harley - Rogue of Space. Grew up living on a small island somewhere in the Pacific that her grandfather 'won in a poker game' (aka probably scammed someone out of, knowing him) - or so he says, anyway. He also used to say he got Roxy the same way every time she asked where she came from! Haha very funny Roxy definitely loved hearing that and not a real response every time she asked where she came from and why she didn’t have any parents. That was great. Her grandfather died when she was fairly young, leaving her alone on the island with nothing left of him but the small inventions he left around the place to make life easier for her. She grows up learning how to maintain them, and although she tries becoming a great inventor like her grandfather, she just... doesn't have the skill. Hacking, on the other hand - shes great at that shit! She finally cracks her final goal - cracking into her grandfathers servers - just before her friend Gamz's 13th birthday, finding mostly boring shit - expenses, customer complaints, legal threats, budgets, etc. What's mildly more interesting to her, however, is the insane amount of money (if they lived on the mainland, they'd be fucking LOADED), and a .exe file for a really cool looking game, with a note from her grandfather congratulating her on finally getting in. And hey, would you look at that? Its multiplayer! And all her friends are free - even John, who through sheer coincidence found himself with a free weekend after his tutors came down with various mysterious illnesses and injuries. It's like the universe wants them to play the game or some shit! Haha wild
Alpha Kids:
Raph Crocker (Rufioh) - Rogue of Life. The living embodiment of all those business major memes. Dude is *dedicated* to the Crockercorp brand - he's determined that one day, he'll climb the ranks and become head of the company, and hopefully lead it just as well as his great-grandfather did. He unironically wears a suit everywhere, and seems committed to sounding like a 50 year old boardroom exec trapped in the body of a 16 year old - although it isn't hard to get him to crack. As much as he pretends he has no patience for his online friends and their constant stories of 'living on a remote island' or 'living in the post-apocalyptic future' (seriously guys, he isn't that gullible), he does genuinely care about them. Besides, when you're stuck in the house all day, there isn't much else to do.
Tuna Strider (Mituna) - Heir of Heart. Trans king. Exudes pure 'disney channel older brother' energy. Shithead (affectionate). Looks up to his Bro, a famous pacifist who resisted the Batterwitch's rule with a global peaceful protest... only to be killed the moment he became too much of a threat. Yyeah. Tuna has... some thoughts about how that should have gone down - most of them involving swords. Or guns. Or both. Maybe if his Bro had a sweet katana, the world wouldn't have been flooded! Although it's too late for his Bro, Tuna has decided to take up the fight in his stead by creating his own 'sick as fuck gun-sword' with whatever scrap metal he can find in the apartment (his Bro, for some reason, didn't think to leave him any useable weapons. cringe). He's got the sword part down great, but the gun... not so much.
Vris Lalonde (Vriska) - Thief of Void. The second half of the 't4t post apocalypse chaos squad', as Tuna calls them. Girl doxxes people for fun - what are they gonna do? Doxx her back? lmao good luck with that losers - closest youre gonna get is still 400 years off. Constantly daring her friends to do stupid shit and quote, 'stop being so fucking boringggg'. it usually works on tuna. sometimes on dave. she still hasnt gotten raph yet, but *one day*...
Dave English - Knight of Hope. smooth talking mile a minute inventor who *loves* trying to 'pitch' his latest invention to his friends. its become almost a game to them, where theyll take turns bidding increasingly ridiculous amounts for an umbrella that shoots seeds ('for easy planting in the rain yknow') or a beat-boxing robot ('i dont even need to explain this one just look at it man. cool as shit'). hell, even raph gets involved sometimes, usually turning it into a shark tank style negotiation. dave swears hes keeping a tally of how much everyone 'owes' him, and claims that one day hes settling that bill. his inventions are genuinely pretty impressive, especially considering his limited resources - being stuck alone on a remote island makes sourcing parts pretty hard. he probably wouldnt even need to jokingly scam his friends in order to jokingly sell his inventions - they jokingly sell themselves. he just thinks scamming people is fun.
Alternia Rapid Fire Round lets goo
Cronus Megido - Bard of Time. relentlessly flirts with anyone of a higher caste than him in the hopes that, if he can get into a quadrant with them, he'll have more protection than he would as just a solo rustblood. this strategy ultimately fails when he flirts with a particular Serket one too many times and gets killed for it. damn. oh well.
Sollux Nitram - so so tired of everyones shit. the only person that actually vaguely got along with Cronus (because he was the only person that Cronus didn't flirt with). just wants to play his pokemon in peace man stop dragging him into drama
Damara Captor - Witch of Doom. 'curses' people. seems weirdly unsurprised when those curses actually work. after cronus' death, a rumour went around that she was the one who caused it, and she absolutely wasnt denying that shit - now no one wants to fuck with her, and those that do? well, she still has her psiionics.
Meulin Vantas - Mage of Blood. Basically the only fucking thing holding this friendship group together. Despite all the complicated as shit relationships - the friendships, the exes, the mortal enemies, the attempted (and successful) murders - Meulin somehow manages to navigate the web of relationships and keep everyone relatively stable
Jaydee Leijon (Jade) - Witch of Heart. catgirl :33. Wishes she lived closer to everyone so she could see them 33: especially her moirail!! at least she still has her lusus to playfight with
Karkat Maryam - Knight of Space. basically a tboy vampire. Used to live in the caverns, but after he realised he was a dude, he began to feel uncomfortable with how oppressive and 'feminine' the caverns were. ran away. struggles with his identity - the contrast between the typical female jadeblood standards of being caring and nurturing, and the typical alternian female standards of being violent and aggressive, leave him stuck in the middle, unsure of what to do or who hes 'allowed' to be. swings wildly between being aggressive and letting himself care about his friends. he eventually figures out that gender stereotypes are bullshit and he can care abt his friends and still be a dude. hes still an asshole though <3
Eridan Pyrope - Prince of Mind. Incredibly committed to a strict moral code - which... no one can figure out. it seems to vary wildly depending on what suits him best at the specific moment. Used to roam Alternia looking for 'criminals' to 'improve' or, if that failed, 'bring to justice' with one Serket, but after an incident involving the loss of three eyes and one arm... they arent exactly on speaking terms.
Dyrrhk Serket (Dirk) - Prince of Light. i dont know how else to say it this mfer makes saw traps. he claims its to 'improve' people - by putting them through some specific trap, it... fixes a percieved issue? even if its an issue only he can see. and if they die in the trap? well, they should have just tried harder right. they probably deserved it. he isnt even doing this out of a desire to hurt people hes *genuinely* convinced that what hes doing is helping, and thinks that this is the best way to go about it. puts eridan through one one day, resulting in the loss of his vision, and after he (finally) figured out that 'huh maybe that wasnt a good idea', he... apologises. lmao just kidding that would be too reasonable - instead he mind controls one of his friends into putting *dyrrhk* into a trap of his own design, resulting in the loss of an eye and an arm. he seems genuinely convinced that this should make them even. everythings fine now, right? he scares me just on a conceptual level
Tavros Zahhak - Page of Void. hes basically a himbo im ngl. hes tall hes ripped hes clumsy and he cant help but draw attention to himself wherever he goes - attention he *hates*. moirails with jaydee. theyre cute <>
Latula Makara - Knight of Rage. clown... despite the usual purpleblood stereotypes, she doesnt really get angry all that often - most of the time, shes just vibing. but when she *does* get angry? its always for a reason. theres always a specific goal shes fulfilling through that anger (even if its just intimidating someone into doing something). i have the least thoughts about her but shes interesting
Jaiikk Ampora (Jake) - Page of Hope. Just a funny lil guy that likes playing pirates :) all the lowbloods he roleplays with definitely want to be there and don't feel coerced by being 'asked' by a literal violetblood :)) if people die during his 'games' well that sucks but he cant exacly stop playing because of a few small accidents right? ..yyeah. hes incredibly ignorant of his position in society and how that effects other people, even if (especially if) those consequences are deadly for others. after a certain point its just easier to not know whats going on than to face all the damage youve caused right. claims he loves the ocean and dreams of living in the depths. never goes into the ocean. hes a weird guy
Equius Peixes - Heir of Life. Future heir to the Alternian throne. Determined to lead Alternia into a new era of strength, no matter the methods to get there. moirails with Jaiikk (which absolutely doesnt help the whole 'Jaiikk accidentally pressuring lowbloods into doing things for him' thing. bro has scary dog privileges with the future emperor looming behind him at all times)
Even faster Beforus speed round because you cant legally make me think about them for more than five seconds
Porrim Megido - Maid of Time
Feferi Nitram - Witch of Breath
Rose Captor - Seer of Doom
Nepeta Vantas - Rogue of Blood
Kurloz Leijon - Prince of Heart
Aradia Maryam - Mage of Space
Aranea Pyrope - Sylph of Mind
Kanaya Serket - Sylph of Light
Jane Zahhak - Maid of Void
Meenah Makara - Thief of Rage
Terezi Ampora - Seer of Hope
Horuss Peixes - Page of Life

Kenma smiles at the camera while nodding at your words.

:Start! Start! Start! ✊✊✊
Kenma pauses while reading the chat, "alright Calm down and let's play the game, Y/n do you wanna read the game's information?"
"This game is in beta and is currently being observed for issues or bugs, please leave your reviews on what should be changed or whatnot.
Warning: this game will contain jumpscares out of nowhere. For those with weak hearts, please exit the game immediately.
You and your friends (recommended to play in multiplayer) decided to go camping out in Icho Woods, that's famous for it's haunted stories. Finding out there is no such thing as Icho Woods, you are now stuck in the middle of nowhere and desperately surviving. But hey! At least the haunted stories are true, though.
The game is fictional, anything that references in real life is pure coincedence."
After reading, you breathe in and out, "that was breathtaking. Now let's go on, shall we?"
Kenma nods his head before replying to you, "let's go."

"Okay, I got killed too, yay!" You say still clearly nervous.

Kenma smiles at the chats.
"There's a battery here, i think it's for a light? A car? I'm not sure." You say to Kenma and at the chat.
"Oh, is that all?" "Yeah" "Alright, let's go out."
As Kenma opens the door at the shed, the monster was lurking around and spotted them. Giving them a thrill-chase. The monster climbs onto a tree before finally ending them.
"FUCK WILL YOU MARRY ME"
