okay so, i talked about writing about what if my f/o's came to the real world, so lemme start with ace because i was thinking about this for the whole week... i may write more about this later
i think that first of all ace would feel so happy because he'd see how loved he is. i'd show him the blogs and all the nice stuff people talk about him, the cute fanart and the fanfics (he'd binge read some in the middle of the night, i'm sure. he'd even blush reading the smut)
i think i'd show him the marineford spoilers, so he can make thatch eat the fruit quick and avoid everything...
he would probably tell everyone about luffy, of course
would scare my grandma by accident because she's afraid of him because of my body pillow
10/10 would be friends with my nephews (i imagine them going all "LOOK IT'S ACEE")
would eat real life food as much as he could, he'd want to try EVERYTHING
i'd have to tell him not to use his powers in public because... in real life we don't have devil fruits
would take my phone to try to learn how it works
"that's a weird den den mushi"
then he'd learn how to use social media. would probably use my phone to take pictures, watch tiktoks or use instagram
he'd see all the pictures of him i have saved, would tease me about it
for some reason i'd want to get matching tattoos with him

oh, i'm no longer a kid (and everything's changed)
Relationships: Monkey D. Luffy & Portgas D. Ace, Monkey D. Garp & Monkey D. Luffy, monkey d. luffy & woop slap Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Portgas D. Ace, Monkey D. Garp, Woop Slap (One Piece) Summary:
"Being pulled out of his head by the sound of a shout, his head popped up in time to get hit in the nose with one of Ace's plushies. Sputtering, he jumped up, ready to hop over the counter when -
"Lu!""
or: luffy introspection and some fluff
Sitting in Party's Bar with Woop Slap ranting about one thing or another, Luffy watched as Ace toddled along after a now ten year old Makino behind the bar. It had been just over a year since they'd arrived and they'd properly made a home in the village, whether some of the inhabitants liked it or not. A few seemed to hold a grudge against the two of them simply for dragging Garp back into their lives every couple months, but what they don't know is that it would have been a lot more often if Luffy hadn't convinced him to give them a long-distance den den so he could call whenever he wanted.
Even after a year of very, very painfully working towards recreating a relationship, Luffy and Garp still tiptoed around each other more often than not. That's not even touching on the fact that Garp let slip that Dragon, the brother who left their family without so much as a word when he was eight, went and started the revolution.
That was a fun screaming match that Woop Slap had to take Ace and Makino outside for.
Clearly, it was touch and go; Garp cared, if nothing else. Luffy didn't know if he only cared for Ace or if he also cared for him, but he didn't mind if it were the former as long as he doesn't screw things up. He cared in a way that Luffy never experienced before the Klondikes, calling at least once a week to check in with careful words and proud exclamations when Luffy boasts of Ace's achievements, like when Ace took his first steps - that in particular had Garp in tears, if the den den's expression was anything to go by.
It was new territory that Luffy treaded cautiously, though he did push his father's buttons on particularly bad days. Half of it was to relieve stress - being a shit was always at the top of his to-do list, as Woop Slap figured out within a week of him settling in - but the other half was, admittedly, him trying to see if Garp was just... faking it. That he was still that rough, Marine-focused man who put duty and training above his sons' wellbeings. So far, though, he was doing well enough; he would call Luffy and Ace brats, and he would start yelling if Luffy yelled first, but he never initiated fights, nor did he belittle Luffy's dreams on the very rare occasions that he spoke of them anymore.
Luffy hated how confusing it was.
He wanted to hate Garp; some of the Klondikes who had fathers similar to him had said it was perfectly normal to want nothing to do with him, or to just cut all ties, and he'd gotten much farther with the latter than he'd expected. Maybe, maybe if Rouge hadn't had to carry Ace for so long, it would have gotten to the point of no return. Yet with that possibility six feet under the soft dirt overlooking the sunrise, it was never able to get that far along.
Being pulled out of his head by the sound of a shout, his head popped up in time to get hit in the nose with one of Ace's plushies. Sputtering, he jumped up, ready to hop over the counter when -
"Lu!"
Stopping dead in his tracks, Luffy gaped at his little nephew. Looking to Woop Slap for confirmation and just getting a fond but exasperated look in return, he let out a victory shout and started hopping around with Ace's giggly voice joining him. "I'm his first word! I'm his first word! Holy shit, I'm his first word!"
"Lu! Lu! Shit!"
"No!"
