The honeyslime they're made from inherently grows by feeding off of sources of energy or mass (food, magic, etc), or growing within a host for a similar use! The inherent mimicry is a method to lure others closer-

Pale's slime (their body, mimicking an actual body, has a honey-like tinge to the flavors and such) has a elicits reactions of comfort to those who consume it-

Meant to comfort and settle those it's filling!

Unfortunately for them, that's lead to... well. Slimes are not often well regarded in places where they have large populations.

Houndstooth, one of my other characters, has a great interest in wildlife and nature- anything from parasites, curses, often the macabre, and his work takes him down very mad-scientist like roads. However, Pale meeting him helped them gain an acceptance of self, in a lot of ways.

Who better to show them than someone like Houndstooth- who sees value in creatures largely regarded as pests for extermination? Creatures simply trying to exist, as themselves. That's all Pale's trying to do.
