also more codelyokoposting but I really really dig XANA as a villain. It's not a person with a complex background that led them down the path of evil, it's not a morally grey character you sympathize with but condemn. It's a powerful AI capable of controlling almost anything in the real world. It doesn't have a face or a body, we only know it for its symbol and for the monsters it controls in the virtual world. It's willing not just to kill people through various methods (poisoning, drowning, car crash, fucking space lasers too?) but also Earth as a whole (it tried to blow up a NUCLEAR PLANT and crash two trains with toxic chemicals in them). And we don't even know why it does this, at least not for now. It may not even have a particular reason, just some sort of virus or malware in the form of an AI that seeks nothing but destruction without any goals in mind. This "pure evil" characteristic doesn't come off as childish, like in some children cartoons, it's just kind of scary to think that such an incomprehensible and destructive force exists, almost feels like a natural disaster
#m#code lyoko#that said i wish the rules of what xana can and cant do were a bit more established#like not to be a cinemasins but why doesn't it just hack the factory's elevator to stop the group from entering the room#what's stopping it from attacking the real world non stop#i think it would have been great to have an episode where they go like 'hey xana needs to rest after every attack and also we've put -#some measures to always have access to the computer room just in case it tries to block the entrance or the elevator'#idk something a la death note where you know what they can and cant do with the death note#and as always i wish the action was done better because sometimes it's like. girl you can do that very easily#specially in the virtual world. sometimes there'll be one enemy standing still and no one does nothing and then they get killed and like ?#i'd feel more threatened by xana if the monsters also seemed more threatening#and if its attacks were more grounded in reality? like that one episode where it controls yumi's samurai armor. literally what#the earthquake was also very 'oh it can do that i guess'#i like it when it's stuff like the trains almost crashing with each other#the technologic stuff i think works best. especially because it's something not everyone knows how to fight against

nobody understands wash/south friendship. anyone not in the know thinks they hate each other, but they don't. sure, they think the other is the single most annoying person in the known universe, but when push comes to shove, they're an okay team so long as they both understand that things are going to become extremely chaotic, they will be screaming at each other non stop, and as the guy who's really, really good at getting out of bad situations where death is almost certain alive, wash (generally) takes point.
#if anyone has read the helljumper comic w dutch and romeo that's sort of how i imagine wash and south on missions#trouble. explosions. crashing. jumping out of/off of things. that sort of deal#rvb#red vs blue#agent washington#agent south dakota#mine#their banter starts fairly friendly but it very quickly dissolves into insults and screaming#as a rule of thumb if they're screaming at each other and it's barely understandable by anyone else they're fine#it's when they're /not/ screaming that they should start getting a little worried#nobody understands how wash is able to pull off the survival stunts he does but they work so ┐(ﾟ～ﾟ)┌#seriously the freelancers swear they've seen him straight up die multiple times but he just shows back up later relatively okay#maine has long accepted wash's damn near supernatural ability to survive whatever is thrown at him#wash has that main character plot armor /j

you ever go on the imdb for an indie animated short film and half the reviews are wildly misunderstanding it
#this is about tie fighter by paul johnson on youtube by the way#half of the reviews are fundamentally misunderstanding what it's trying to be#'there's no plot or character development' the plot is the space battle and how it plays out. there's 'no character development' because th#battle and the tactics are the focus- the battle itself is the main character#ITS NOT TRYING TO BE A LOOK AT THE PILOTS IN QUESTION#IT'S TRYING TO DETAIL HOW THE IMPERIAL NAVY AND STARFIGHTER CORPS WORKS WHEN THEY'RE NOT INCOMPETENT DUE TO PLOT ARMOR#THE BATTLE IS THE POINT#'there's no dialogue' no shit? dialogue wouldn't add anything to what it's trying to do!!#and even beyond that for the brief look we do get at some of the characters it does a great job at giving us a look at who they are#But obviously it doesn't focus on that! Because the individual characters are not the point of the film!!!!!!

#it all comes back to my unicron-spawn Starscream and my quintesson-built Jazz#today I worked a little on us Starscream and qb Jazz becoming friends and getting a absurdly similar dynamic to how I write Prowl and Jazz#but I stopped that to work on a memory loss fic w that Jazz fighting his way from autobots to Starscream bc he was the only one who he#trusted with a complete memory back up as another not-cybertronian#and I stopped THAT to work on a qb Jazz/Prowl fic where it's non-essential no pain killer surgery that Prowl has to do on Hazx bc he refuses#to go to medics. partially bc the surgery is completely unsafe in any firm and partly bc qb Jazz doesn't want anyone else to know what he is#(and Prowl barely knows either)#but I only got a few sentences into that b4 I went to do an Autobot!DJD (AJD?) torture scene w qb Jazz where the nameless character to die#manages to tear open his chest while fighting back and finds nothing inside#BUT that's rlly similar 2 a fic where I've done the same thing w Starscream (the chest discovery in a scuffle bit) so I reread that before#I got distracted thinking abt my Starop fic that's all Starscream doesn't have a spark because he's a ghost Optimus Prime doesn't have a#spark because he's a lab experiment gone rogue. Misunderstandings ensue. which I adore but have no idea how to fit a plot into#so bc I couldn't think of anything more than a few sentences for that I went to my fic where ALL of the command trine formed from Unicron#but Skywarp and Thundercracker died early and Starscream spends millions of years searching all of cybertron and hoping Vector Sigma#reincarnation works for unicronians too. biiiig depression angst fic. I can't decide if I want it to end in Starscream self-inducing stasis#in one of Vector Sigma's chambers or whether I want it to end w Starscream brutally murdering the new trine member the reincarnated versions#of Skywarp and Thundercracker were made with (who ftr would be Sun Storm)#n that fic reminded me of that one rewritting of the Starscream's Ghost ep where Starscream catches a glimpse of Scourge and immediately#attacks. it's barely a fight because in seconds SS is ripping through layers of armor desperately searching for Thundercracker beneath the#shell Unicron gave him. He needs Thundercracker to be there (he isn't). Only when his claws have gone completely thru Scourge's back does he#round on the armada- only to completely ignore Cyclonus and go for one of his clones (Skywarp)#and that reminded me of- *gunshots*#do u see why I only ever manage to post ponies?? I have less ideas w them so I actually finish.#I'm worried of hitting tag limit but I have plenty more of even less fleshed out fics for us Starscream and qb Jazz#(I barely said half of what's in my writing docs)

Couldn't concentrate on a bunch of stuff I wanted to draw so I settled with drawing SIGNS UNAC merch shirts instead (modeled by a couple mercs)
#armored core#armored core verdict day#acvd#i like how after every mission where the unacs go hostile signs advertises their next update or lineup of unacs#its (most likely purposely) tone-deaf - love from's sense of humour#also love me characters that survive against all odds so i drew a quick erik design. also felt appropriate to give him a unac shirt#for the other guy i give almost all the ravens slicked back hair... similar to a raven. i don't have much imagination#yeah true he looks like kale he just ended up looking like that compared to the initial sketch#how does one represent a unac specifically? for shirt variations they have different main heads so hoping tacking on the name works#real talk i didn't deploy with unacs until the final boss but we both died so i don't count it#never had enough money or didn't spend enough time customising chips too so i don't know what makes for a good build#it defeated erik twice though so that's good enough for me#tried out customising an ac in the moa disc 2 arena thing and it was interesting#'tis mine
