World Chorus Headcanons
I wanted to show you some of the characters I’ve been building over the last (almost) 5 years, so I hope you all enjoy it!
Though the Archive doesn’t exactly have any “goals”, I hope this year it keeps growing, and more and more people find it!
Another small note is I absolutely love it when I receive fanart, art trades, anything! So feel free to DM me on Instagram for any of those, at GoldenHeartArt_, or contact my email [email protected]. Alternatively, come “attack” me in July on ArtFight, and all your beautiful art will be saved to my phone folder so I can admire it forever <3
Today I bring you another, more creative, post! These are some of my headcanons for the various kids who live in World Chorus, as well as the group as a whole! I’ve spoken about them before, but I’d like to expand on how I view each of the characters, how they differ from their canon counterparts, and the group as a whole!
Here we go!
Full group headcanon:
If any of the World Chorus kids (except Jules, Zuri and Rouge) step outside the glass windows, they fall through and become little 3D dolls! They’re about as tall as a funko pop would be, and Jules leads them, both as their conductor and their older brother figure
Any silhouettes on the wall can come alive and 3D, and also the ones around Jules, as seen above.
The entire group is a choir and band called The World Chorus
When a character lives in a country, this is only in animation. When 3D, they all call the World Chorus building their home
During park hours, they can’t leave their animation windows, and perform the same loop over and over, essentially being unaware they do so. But when they’re doing concerts, special events, or it’s nighttime, they have free will.
They can’t eat when in 3D form, but due to animation logic, they can when they’re in their screens.
The characters on the exit banner don’t come to life (so far, I might change this one day, but it’s due to the fact that Jules is depicted outside of the Eiffel Tower, and for continuity I don’t like having more than one Jules running around!)
Jules can step inside the glass by putting his hand on it, but any Jules in the animation is either a representation of him inside the Eiffel Tower (such as in the choir scene, I imagine that is just him in performance mode), or pre-recorded (such as with Abby and Addi.)
Jules:
The conductor of World Chorus
Zuri’s boyfriend
Obsessed with music and composing
Speaks French and English though he typically speaks in English
He can play any instrument due to his programming, and is in charge of managing sheet music for various things, like when it’s a small world appears in Disney On Ice
He takes care of all the World Chorus kids and acts as their older brother
He’s very sweet and kind and very caring toward the other people, and can be quite humble and easily charmed, but he always practices self-care too!
His baton is sentient and sometimes moves on its own, and is VERY mischievous and troublesome when it wants to be, though most of the time it behaves and does music magic properly (he takes sheet music off the page and levitates it to make sound and music)
Jules has a switch on his shoulder that allows him to be powered on and off (all small world dolls do)
His bowtie turns pink/red when he gets flustered/blushes, especially around Zuri
He has many different suits, some more casual, some more fancy, all matching the ones he wears in the attraction and some I’ve designed for him
(Very self-indulgent but whatever he’s basically my OC after 5 years of drawing him), he’d remember me from when I was young and be happy I still remember him and make art/do crafts of him etc
He’s got a (fictional) father figure in an older cast member named Jean, because originally I was gonna name him Jean but I thought it didn’t sound right, so very early on he got renamed to Jules!
He and the rest of the dolls are mentally around 10 years old, and cannot age physically OR mentally (some of the World Chorus kids are mentally younger but none of them exceed 9, and Rouge would be closer to 11 maturity-wise)
He’s a bit shy about singing but he will occasionally join in if he’s convinced to do so, usually by the other World Chorus kids or by Zuri
Jules’s relationships:
Zuri (Girlfriend)
Rouge (Older brother)
The rest of the kids (Family)
Jean (father figure)
Me (Bestie :D)
Zuri:
A doll who lives inside the ‘it’s a small world’ ride
Jules’s girlfriend
She leads the tambourine troupe inside the ride
She really likes Esmerelda
She can be feisty and hates when anyone insults Jules or leaves the boats in the rides (which unfortunately is becoming more and more common)
She’s got a unique angle on fashion due to her choice to wear a niqab, and likes coordinating her outfits to make sure it looks good
She used to not like Rouge but nowadays sees him as a sort of older brother, since he calmed down and stopped being so blinded by his selfishness.
Zuri’s relationships:
Jules (Boyfriend)
Rouge (Older brother)
The rest of the kids (Family)
Rouge Rose:
A doll who lives inside the ‘it’s a small world’ ride
He used to be way more antagonistic and selfish, but he calmed down and became much nicer, since his programming was changed by the cast members after an incident
He learned more about morality and faces a lot of guilt deep down for how he treated Jules and Zuri back then, and wants to atone for what he did, acting as an older brother to both of them and in turn, the rest of the World Chorus kids
Rouge didn’t originally come from the ride, rather a Paris Fashion House where the cutthroat environment was what he was programmed for, as he was a doll used to model clothes in a shop window instead of a singing, dancing doll
Since he doesn’t have performing arts talent, he manages technical things like the curtain or lighting (he sings like a seagull TOT)
Rouge’s relationships:
Zuri and Jules (Younger siblings)
The rest of the kids (Family)
Arthur:
Likes to design things and play games (as evidenced by him creating the poster with Pascal)
He’s very easy to make laugh, and he likes watching Pascal’s cat cause mischief. He likes to tell jokes with Lorenzo
He’s the graphic designer of World Chorus, but also sings in Dutch and can speak French and German. He’s Belgian.
He’s friendly with Julia since she likes his posters a lot
Arthur’s relationships:
Pascal (Best friend)
Lorenzo (Close friend)
Julia (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Pascal:
Also likes to design things, and loves cats
He’s a gamer too but often gets beat by Arthur, which causes them to bicker playfully.
Friends with Moses and Victoria as well, sharing his love for cats with Victoria
He helps Jules organize all the concerts and designs posters with Arthur. He also sings in Arabic.
Pascal’s relationships:
Arthur (Best friend)
Moses and Victoria (Close friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Some of these guys don’t have names yet! ^^;
Moses:
In charge of distributing the sheet music amongst everyone due to his fax machine
Sings in Arabic and enjoys performing with Jules
Has a fear of the dark
Can sight read (I’m jealous TnT)
The first one who discovered they could leave their screens and go into reality as little 3D dolls!
Friends with Pascal and they often harmonize together when singing
Moses’s relationships:
4 friends (Best friends)
Pascal (Close friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family- Moses sees Jules as a bit of an older brother figure.)
Others:
American cowgirl is feisty and likes to compete, she sings whilst Lucky plays guitar often
Japanese-African boy is calm and sometimes teased due to being short, he’s a bit of a pushover. He sings in Japanese most of the time.
German boy has a twin sister and likes to play football and violin
German girl lives in France and is pen pals with her brother. She loves fashion and is friendly with Juli.
Miguel:
Always practicing guitar and breaking strings, so Jules has them on hand for him.
Jules likes to ask him for help with chords and harmonies
He speaks French, Spanish, English, and Portuguese!
He likes to talk to Adrian, since they can get into mischief when together!
He’s also friendly with Lucky, and since they both play guitar, they either play together or have little rival jam sessions, with Jules usually being forced to judge and calling them both his little winners XD
Miguel’s relationships:
Charlotte (Best friend)
Adrian (Close friend)
Lucky (Close friend)
Jules (older brother figure)
The rest of the kids (Family)
Charlotte:
Loves pastries, milkshakes and hot chocolate, which is why she goes to the cafe so often! (Even though dolls can’t really eat, but it’s cartoon logic right?)
She loves flowers, especially roses, and explores the foliage outside the ride a lot with Olivia
She loves hanging out with Miguel and how he plays his guitar. She admires him and wants to learn, so he’s taught her a little.
She talks in French with Jules and Miguel, but English with everyone else, and sometimes interchanges depending on who she’s with.
She’s Celine’s penpal!
Charlotte’s relationships:
Miguel (Best friend)
Olivia (Close friend)
Celine (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Lucky:
Usually chilled out, but can be enthusiastic to join in depending on what Jules plans for the group, especially if it involves going to Frontierland
He likes to dance with his best friend Daphne, and knows quite a few styles of dancing
He’s also friends with the ginger cowgirl, one of Moses’s friends, and plays guitar whilst she sings.
He admires one of my other OCs, Clyde, who is part of my little group of ‘Park Protectors’, and a fellow cowboy.
He likes adrenaline rushes, so he always begs Jules to take him on Big Thunder after the park closes, and wants to solve all the mysteries of Thunder Mesa, even though he’s supposed to stay in World Chorus most of the time.
Lucky’s relationships:
Daphne (Best friend)
Ginger Cowgirl (Close friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Daphne:
Speaks English and Spanish, and interchanges them when she’s with someone like Miguel.
She’s the one who taught Lucky how to dance, and knows many different styles, so she often choreographs their performances at concerts.
She sings in their choir, and sometimes Lorenzo lets her borrow his stage for practice.
Surprisingly, she’s good at cooking, even though dolls can’t exactly eat, but she helps the cast members occasionally.
Daphne’s relationships:
Lucky (Best friend)
Lorenzo (friend)
Miguel (friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Makoto:
Loves cherry blossoms and cute, soft things
He likes to digitize sheet music, so Jules often goes to him for help with it
He’s often sleepy and stays indoors, but will go outside if it’s with his best friend Diego
He can be very sweet and warm, and is pretty chill with everyone, but he can get annoyed at Alex and Conrad’s bickering
He speaks English and Japanese, and wants to go to Tokyo Disney Resort with his family
He’s pretty good with tech, which is an advantage when it comes to an attraction all about telecommunications, and he can fix most things!
Makoto’s relationships:
Diego (Best friend)
Alex and Conrad (friends but he keeps them in line)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Diego:
Super enthusiastic all the time, like he’s on a sugar high
He’s one of the youngest, but he insists on being taken seriously despite that
He likes to wake up early and sleep late, and tries to get Makoto out of bed even though Makoto loves his sleep
He likes to sing the music Makoto digitizes, so insists Makoto sends it to him every time
Despite how fun and silly he can be, Diego really cares about everyone, and loves his family dearly
Diego’s relationships:
Makoto (Best friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Julia:
A huge dog person
She loves to collect posters, so she’s friendly with Arthur and likes to see what he designs.
Posters also often hold special memories for her, like trips or concerts, which is why they mean so much to her
She enjoys singing and likes to train her voice with Victoria, and the two often talk about cats and dogs together
Her orange card is special to her, since it lets her rewatch videos of the past concerts, similarly to the one Abigail and Adrian have, and since it’s precious to her, she takes it with her everywhere.
She can be a bit introverted but she loves hugs.
Juliette often encourages her to dress how she likes and makes her custom outfits, such as the art of her dressed like ShellieMay.
Julia’s relationships:
Victoria (Best friend)
Spot (Her favourite doggo)
Juliette (Close Friend)
Arthur (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Lorenzo:
Tells jokes and puns all the time since he’s a silly boy
He helps Jules with choreography alongside Daphne, and lets her borrow his theater sometimes
He also gets along well with Harry, letting him borrow his theater too.
He’s best friends with Olivia, and likes to spend time with her and her dog, Spike.
He loves technical stuff, so he gets excited whenever technicians visit World Chorus
Lorenzo’s relationships:
Olivia (Best friend)
Harry (Friend)
Daphne (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Olivia:
Can be quite shy, but gets talkative when she’s with Lorenzo
Likes to explore foliage with Charlotte
She loves cycling and playing with her dog Spike, something she has in common with Julia
She also really likes listening to music and singing, but her favourite thing to do is watch Lorenzo onstage, since she admires his confidence in performance
Olivia’s relationships:
Lorenzo (Best friend)
Charlotte (Close friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Victoria:
A huge cat person
Loves to sing and has her own little recording studio setup, which was kindly made for her by Jules
Usually Jules asks her to help him test harmonies and vocals, and she encourages him to sing with her even though he’s a bit shy about his voice
She has an older brother named Harry and they can be a bit competitive with each other, doing singing battles etc, but they also love each other very, very much.
Pascal also likes cats, so they get along well
Victoria’s relationships:
Julia (Best friend)
Harry (Older brother)
Frisky (Her cat)
Pascal (Close friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Leonardo:
Refuses to walk anywhere, only to use his plane, and complains about his feet hurting a lot haha
His plane can turn 3D if he flies it through the glass, just like everyone’s instruments, pets, etc
He was given his green scarf by Hans, his best friend.
He wears his headphones even outside of his plane because they provide him a certain amount of security, comfort, and he likes to listen to music with them (relatable)
Leonardo’s relationships:
Hans (Best friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Hans:
Likes to read messages from Leonardo when he can’t visit him, but also loves to fly in his plane whenever they’re together
He’s Leo’s best friend and loves to give him presents
His dog, Patches, comforts him when he’s scared or lonely, as he gets a bit of stage fright before performances
He likes to dance despite this, so he admires Lorenzo and Daphne from afar, because he’s a little introverted
He’s Conrad’s cousin, but unlike Conrad, he’s a lot more soft and sweet, which makes him a bit of a pushover. He does love his big cousin though, and really enjoys spending time with him.
Hans’s relationships:
Leonardo (Best friend)
Patches (Beloved doggo)
Conrad (Cousin)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Abigail:
Adrian’s fraternal twin
Despite how different they look, she can be similar to him in terms of personality, and they like to do things together, since their interests complement each other
Abigail loves music and the idea of exploring the ocean
She read the book 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and prefers it to the movie, but her favourite character is Captain Nemo, and she often gets Jules to read her the book as a bedtime story.
She calls Adrian ‘Addi’
Abigail’s relationships:
Adrian (Twin)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Adrian:
Abigail’s fraternal twin
Despite how different they look, he can be similar to her in terms of personality, and they like to do things together, since their interests complement each other
Sometimes he can get into mischief with Miguel if they’re together too long, like playing pranks on Jules or sneaking up on him and scaring him!
Adrian loves music and wants to be a pirate
He loves Pirates of the Caribbean, both the ride and the movie series, and his favourite characters are Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner, Henry Turner and Carina Smyth
He calls Abigail ‘Abby’
Adrian’s relationships:
Abigail (Twin)
Miguel (Close friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Hahn:
A huge animal enthusiast, he’s good with them so he acts as a pseudo vet as well as singing with the others
He’s a bit of a social butterfly, since he’s easy-going and finds making friends comes naturally to him
He has tribal lineage and likes to teach his friends about diverse customs and traditions
He loves his parrot Feathers, and refuses to be separated from him
He also likes playing outside and exploring nooks and crannies, he’s a bit infamous for his curiosity and tendency to poke around where he shouldn’t!
Hahn’s relationships:
3 friends (Best friends)
Feathers (Favourite lil birb!)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Friends of Hahn:
The eskimo girl can be shy and talks less than everyone else, sometimes preferring to write instead of speak, but Hahn easily interprets what she’s thinking. She likes to listen to Lumina, and her favourite member is Emilio
The Japanese girl is very organized, which comes in handy for Jules since she’s the type of person to have a thousand ‘to-do’ lists already made for him. Hahn is good at getting her to lighten up though when she overthinks and becomes stressed, since he’s good at helping her relax. She’s usually online, and listens to music when she’s working. She doesn’t appreciate being called short, which typically happens a lot!
The European boy is very chatty and energetic, and is closest with Hahn out of the trio. He often loses sleep due to going on calls or hanging out late with Hahn, but he’s got a bit of a fear of bugs and doesn’t like getting dirty, so sometimes he gets a bit grouchy if Hahn makes him go outside!
Helen:
Leader of the small choir, and one of the oldest and most mature of the World Chorus kids.
She’s friendly with Juli since Juli designed their choir outfits and she finds them beautiful.
She’s known for her punctuality, and has an alto voice, which compliments Priscilla’s soprano voice very well.
She’s good with hair and likes to style Priscilla’s, the two of them are pretty close.
She’s also best friends with Brittany, and treats her like a little sister just like Mark.
I like to think Helen, Brittany and Priscilla would have girly nights sometimes where they watch Disney movies and play dress-up
Helen’s relationships:
Priscilla (Best friend)
Brittany (Best friend)
Juliette (Close friend)
Rest of the choir (Close friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Mark:
Very relaxed and chill, but also known for his talent at keeping the choir in order, and stopping Brittany and Christopher from being too rowdy.
He ‘s best friends with and protective of Brittany, since she reminds him of his little brother, Harold, who lives in Ireland whilst he lives in England.
He often phones Harold, and checks up on him since he can be a little protective, despite the fact Harold is quite independent.
If he ever played it, I imagine he’d find Hero a little relatable from Omori.
He organises when the choir practices, and is a peacekeeper like Helen
Mark’s relationships:
Brittany (Best friend)
Rest of the choir (Close friends)
Harold (Little brother)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Christopher:
The shortest of the group and subjected to height jokes quite often
He likes to tell jokes and is often the funniest person in the room, sometimes rivalling Lorenzo with his humor!
He’s very enthusiastic about performing and always gives it 110%
He sometimes gets into little arguments with Brittany, mostly about stupid stuff like who sings better.
He likes Priscilla taking care of him and goes quite soft around her, whereas with the others he can be a bit brash and boastful if he gets in a mood, but with Priscilla he’s got a lot of respect for her and sees her like a big sister.
Christopher’s relationships:
Priscilla (Best friend)
Rest of the choir (Close friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Priscilla:
Shyest girl in the choir, but she really brightens up when onstage
She’s very sweet and warm, and likes to show love through acts of care, like getting everyone blankets when they’re tired from a long day of practice.
She’s got a soprano voice and can reach tough high notes with it
She usually doesn’t say much, but she likes spending time with the other girls and Christopher, who really warms up to her, but she’s a peacekeeper like the other two older members.
Her favourite princesses are Snow White and Cinderella, and she likes to dress up like them
She’s the girliest out of the choir, and Jules got her some autographs from the princesses as a gift, by scanning them and shrinking them down for her!
Priscilla’s relationships:
Christopher (Best friend)
Helen(Best friend)
Brittany (Best friend)
Rest of the choir (Close friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Brittany:
Quite chatty and friendly, but bickers sometimes with Christopher
She’s often hanging around Mark, and he likes to do nice things for her, like play pretend or games like hide and seek
She’s good with tech and organises the video calls for Jules to conduct them over, since working remotely is how they have concerts.
She loves when Helen styles her hair, and always finds new hairstyles for her to try
She’s good at coaxing Priscilla out of her shell sometimes, and helps her calm her nerves before shows.
Brittany’s relationships:
Mark (Best friend)
Helen (Best friend)
Priscilla (Best friend)
Rest of the choir (Close friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Alexandra:
She can be quite feisty, especially with Conrad, but she’s a sweet girl underneath
She secretly wants to be friends with Conrad, but doesn’t know how to approach him, and it’s the same vice versa
She likes to curse in Russian and uses the word ‘svo-lach’ a lot, but Jules censors it with his symphonies
She loves her goldfish Bubbles with all her heart, and will fight you if you try to separate them
She’s got a good fashion sense and loves trying on new clothes, making her a good friend to Juli!
She’s Alberto’s best friend and complements his quieter nature with her loud and fun personality, and she helps him step out of his comfort zone!
She likes Makoto but gets slightly afraid of his fury whenever he loses his chill
She has a big sister in Lumina, Polina, and knows a little balalaika thanks to her! She really admires Polina and loves when she visits!
Alexandra’s relationships:
Alberto (Best friend)
Juli (Close friend)
Makoto (Friend)
Bubbles (Beloved fishy)
Conrad (Rival)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Alberto:
He’s a gondolier and loves sailing through Venice, often passing Tito and his other gondolier friend
He wears a headscarf and often gets advice from Zuri about styling it, since she wears a niqab
He prefers long sleeved clothes more than short sleeved, and usually layers them to keep warm
He likes to go to cafes after sailing, and likes Italian opera!
Alberto’s relationships:
Alexandra (Best friend)
Zuri (Close friend)
Tito (Friend)
Gondolier (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Conrad:
He can be argumentative and insults people often, but underneath he’s very insecure and wants to be brave, often going to great lengths to prove himself
He secretly wants to be friends with Alexandra, but doesn’t know how to approach her, and it’s the same vice versa
He curses in German often, using the word ‘nervige’, and Jules blocks it out with his symphonies
He’s one of the oldest and wants to be perceived as more mature than he actually is
Since he’s Hans’s older cousin, he can be a little protective of him, but also tries to impress him when they’re together. He does love him a lot though, and would do anything for him.
He teaches Ken how to play piano, and is a bit of a prodigy when it comes to it, often helping Jules figure out melodies
He loves bluebirds and has many of them as pets, and they can understand him when he speaks, too!
He’s also a little spooked whenever Makoto loses his chill haha!
Conrad’s relationships:
Ken (Best friend)
Bluebirds (Beloved birbs)
Hans (Cousin)
Alexandra (Rival)
Makoto (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Ken:
Conrad’s best friend, and is being taught piano by him!
He dreams of being a world-class pianist and owning his own grand piano like Conrad’s, but for now Conrad is happy to share.
He likes to stay indoors and can be a bit shy, but he likes Conrad’s bluebirds and plays with them sometimes
He and Alberto have their softness in common, but they don’t get to talk often since they’re usually dragging Conrad and Alex away from ripping each other to pieces!
Ken’s relationships:
Conrad (Best friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Tito:
A shy gondolier who likes to sing
He’s very empathetic and always gives his friends a listening ear, as well as treating everyone around him warmly and kindly
He has vitiligo and he’s learned to love how unique it makes him look
He’s friends with the gondolier on the screen and they sail together
Tito’s relationships:
Gondolier (Best friend)
Juli and Harry (Close friends)
Alberto (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Juliette:
A French fashion designer who loves to make her own clothes
She adores all styles of clothes and loves to make them, she can be a bit persnickety about her designs, but she’s meticulous with jewels and trims, having both Alice Davis and Janice Jones as her inspirations!
She designed the choir outfits the group wear, and Jules really loves how they turned out
She’s friendly with Julie, Helen, Alexandra, and the German girl, since they all love her outfits!
She can be the most impulsive in her trio, and a bit stubborn sometimes, but Harry finds her easy to cool down.
Juli’s relationships:
Tito and Harry (Close friends)
Julie (Close friend)
Helen (Close friend)
Alexandra (Close friend)
German girl (Close friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Harry:
Oldest of his trio, and loves to sing and act
He cares for Victoria a lot, but they can have a competitive streak too!
He sometimes borrows Lorenzo’s theater to practice his acting, since he dreams of being an actor
He’s very much similar to Mark in that he’s good at keeping the others in his group out of trouble and cares for his younger sibling
He can be quite formal and polite at times, but he’d never judge anyone and always tries to see the best in them, rather than looking down on them or something like that.
Harry’s relationships:
Victoria (Little sister)
Juli and Harry (Close friends)
Lorenzo (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Fiyero:
Stubborn and impatient, with a short temper
He’s always stuck waiting for his sleepy bull to wake tf up so he gets annoyed a lot
He plays the castanets, and he’s one of the younger members of the band, so he’s forgiven for his short fuse, and Jules finds it a bit endearing since he’s willing to fight for what he loves.
He doesn’t actually fight his bull, just play fights him, and his bull is like his pet so they don’t harm each other and it’s just a fun thing for them.
Fiyero’s relationships:
Bull (ANGY at him but also loves him, he wouldn’t actually fight him, they’d just playfight)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)
Dominic:
Part of the “CGI gang” who can pop out of the Small World Small Talk screens!
He’s sweet and cheerful, and he loves learning about new culture and talking to his friends through the phone

CGI gang (Best friends)
Charlotte (Friend)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)

She’s a Polynesian girl who loves to dance, and she’s one of the most energetic people in the entire World Chorus, rivalling Dominic
She’s a fun and kind girl who’s very passionate about the ocean and protecting the creatures of the world, being an environmentalist
She does beach cleanups with the CGI gang when they’re not remotely chatting
Palila’s relationships:
CGI gang (Best friends)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)

Harold:
Part of the “CGI gang” who can pop out of the Small World Small Talk screens!
He’s the youngest in the CGI gang and lives in Ireland, away from his big brother Mark.
He likes to dance, so he and Palila get along really well
He was the one who discovered the CGI gang could leave the CGI phone boxes like the rest of the World Chorus, and looks up to the other World Chorus kids and wants to be like them (it’s cute since he’s still discovering what makes him unique, in a sense)
He likes to talk to Mark on the phone, and despite having a good heart he can be mischievous!
Harold’s relationships:
CGI gang (Best friends)
Mark (Big Brother)
The rest of the kids + Jules (Family)

(Translation : Hayden)
I am a imaginative person and I often overthinking a lot.
when I start making a mod. i thought to myself. that i wanted to make something that have a story, a lore.. more than something that come and go.. with no meaning or any story behind it.
I don't know where to start. there's so much thing going on in my mind. so i not quite sure. At first I want to writing a story during a time I been reworking ASH, but the story were all over the place. till i finally start working on JACKAL. and I finally be able to create a project name. first I will continue to make a heavy armor. and what will come after that? another armor? then it will also be put into this project as well
Project B.R.U.T.E
Project for Jackal is named B.R.U.T.E.
By concept of the project. I have decided to make character design to be an old world military theme. so every armor or anything that appear inside this project will not look very futuristic like ASH does. and look much more intimidating than ASH. like if someone look at it it will make them feel "so scary" and runaway.
For JACKAL his role is a veteran who have fight countless of war. to the point that he become a part of it. he's born to fight. and don't have a feeling all he know is to follow the order as if he is a hound out for the hunt for its owner.
For ASH. ASH is like a new blood have a far future ahead in military career. like main character who just started his role in this line of work, and expressive with his feeling. (so that's why he doesn't look intimidating and more over his mask have emoji option(triangle) to express how he currently feel. or sometime to mock his enemies)
this is my part of inspiration
For the inspiration, one time while i watching an the youtube short i found one video about fallout. and I feel attach to it and like it a lot. so I start research and looking into information about military equipment. and an actual gasmask. or anything that soldier will packed in their bag when they go out.
and it make me feel impress and inspired. but in the mean time it also feel dangerous. (one time i wanted to make an MRE so much for roleplay in dystopia world kind of stuff) or camping. tool for exploring or recon. in the middle of the desert. it look very fun.

some inspiration from metal gear series i think it's a good moodtone on military style

a lot of idea on pinterest I can't put all here
I started draw my own concept and it look shaggy

go to 3D
i don't know how eiffel tower come into chest but I cut in after
texture
yeah I try red eyes and it look like special unit
it's so scary, but fun to do it
(I will update part 2 later I feel so tired)

In November 2018 we gave to Mrs. F's class in Anchorage, AK for 3D pens.
Mrs. F was kind enough to send us this update a little while later:
We are so very grateful for your generous donations to help fund this project. With your gift we were able to purchase three 3D pens and plastic refill cartridges. These pens allow my students to be creative in ways I haven't yet seen. I have to admit, it was hard to step back and let them work. But when given materials and freedom, children can produce the most wonderful ideas! They have made things with these pens such as glasses, turtles, rings, swords, and butterflies. One student even made a boat and was using his critical thinking skills to see how he could get it to float. I also have students who are working on making the Eiffel Tower. Normally I tell my students ahead of time if we are getting new materials. However, I was so excited about these pens that I kept them a secret until they arrived. When I showed my students, they were so in awe they didn't know what to say. I showed them a video and they couldn't wait to use them. Before I handed the pens out, the kids were already talking about what they would make. They were so excited to be able to learn more about how 3D printing works. These pens are a huge hit! My fourth graders were talking about they could incorporate 3D drawings and build a circuit to go with our science unit on electricity. In math we are just starting a unit on fraction and already I have some ideas of how we can draw fractions in 3D. Thank you again from all of us. Your donation is greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my channel. I am preparing my page with gesso here. And then, I use my green paint with ‘Little Birdie’, I use my baby to erase the coloring. It is a quick and effective way to fill a blank canvas.
Most of the time, in this way, the spinal area is lost. Therefore, I often use a paintbrush and use the remaining paint to blend in those areas. Here, I wanted to try my new gold acrylic paint that I found in DAISO.
Using the same used baby wipe, I just tear the paint here and there. It is light simple gold, hidden. Here, I have a clear script stamp out of LAZADA. I use my brown inkpad with 'Tsukineko' for this. Just press occasionally here and there for some interest.
I will use another clear background stamp for music notes. I have these cutouts of muscle paper drawings around. I also thought of using it for the distribution of my art magazine. Here is my white PVA glue.
To apply the cut, I need to make decoupage glue; just this glue and water. I align randomly and attach them to the sides of the spread, with some edges protruding. This death cut is basically a collection of harvest items.
I rarely make vintage themes in any of my journals - Creative Journal, Bullet Journal. So, I thought, "Why don't you use this in my Mixed Media Journal?"
Excellent stencil. Here's the 'Winsor and Newton' for my modeling attachment. I use only part of the stencil. Using my light brown acrylic paint with 'FolkArt', I will be giving these 3D buildings some color accents. I love the rewarding results in my art journals.
They look good. So when it is dry, I cut all the cuts, using my penknife. After that, with my round fist, I cut all those corners. Time for some splatters! Just brown water color. Next, using my Ranger ‘Vintage Photo’ inkpad, I gave the edges a border. I thought my spread needed a picture focused on something else. Certainly my harvest cut here came out well, but I wanted one special one.
So, I chose this Eiffel Tower. Here's how to make a quick quick collection of decoupage glue again. That’s my way of matte. I realized that I wanted to give the Eiffel Tower a certain shade of India. You should have used this before to stick it down, actually! I needed that porous matte texture penetration for my next program.
So, that's Indian brown ink. You better shake the bottle first. I'm not too satisfied with the way the ink effect looks here. So, I try to use my cheap store crayons to try to fix it. Next, here is a pad of my Tim Holtz publishing sticker.
The journey is the end of my journey ". I use my matte medium gel, I protect them on the page. making vintage themes. But I wanted to use this stash. Well, thank you guys for watching. Happy posting. Goodbye!

A Game Design Student’s Post Mortem - 2 Many Ducks
This gif may not make much sense right now, but trust me it will. These past 6 weeks have been insanely hectic. I’ve probably learned more in 6 weeks than I’ve learned more in these 6 weeks than all of high school, but this has also been the most fun I’ve ever had studying.
Before I talk about ducks, I have to talk about some of the other cool stuff we’ve done. We’ve been focusing on level design, and specifically modularity in design. We’ve learned from game development giants like Bethesda how they designed their modular kits, which allowed them to save on development costs by making level generation an easier and more optimised process. In the spirit of this, we tried to design our own modular kits; I decided to do mine based on a mine.
I never got to texture it or build anything with it, but it was a good exercise. I also learned about scoping: I initially had much more to the mine that would allow it to have modular height, but even with the fixed height it was still difficult and time-consuming to design and model. I would like to one day revisit this and make a level with it.
Expanding on that idea of modularity, we examined another game that has a heavy focus on it, but for a different purpose: Borderlands is well known for its “87 bazillion guns”, and clearly they didn’t model each individual gun; rather, they divided a gun into different components (stock, barrel, scope, grip, magazine), designed some parts for each, and mixed and matched them in game. We also designed our own guns, and I went for a more... outlandish feel to mine.
Yes, that is a trebuchet as a scope. I ran out of time before making the main of the body, so I learned a lesson there about time management.
Last but not least, we have to talk about the meat of this unit: the 6 week long assignment, Mother Duck. For this assessment, we were given a competitive party game abotu chasing ducks, but we had to design a level based on a real environment in Melbourne, and my group chose the Arts Centre.
This was also the first time I’d every done on-site referencing for a project. As a group, we headed over to the Arts Centre and took a bunch of photos and sketches: I personally took 500 photos, which were a pain to sort through but provided ample references for our models and textures in the level.
We didn’t know it at the time, but these references would be critical to the development of the level: having an image to make your model from is a million times easier than trying to model an object from memory. Very glad I spent a lot of time taking a ton of images.
As a team, we allocated tasks to each other and got to work. My particular beast to slay was the centrepiece of our level: when you think of the Arts Centre, the first thing that pops into most people’s minds is the Eiffel-Tower-esque spire perched atop it.

Yep, I had to figure out how to model that. Good luck to me I guess.
My process of modelling the Spire went through many iterations. I started by trying to create it using polygon primitives:
Yea, it didn’t turn out looking so good. I soon scrapped that approach, and tried to figure out another way to do it. Thankfully, my teacher introduced me to a nifty tool called “Lattice” in 3DS Max. The tool would draw a cylinder around every line in your object, very useful for replicating the Spire’s mesh design. With that knoweldge in mind, I reworked my approach, and tried to make the spire out of planes and draw lines inside the planes which would later become cylinders.
STEP 2:
After completing that, I exported it from Maya to 3DS to lattice it.
STEP 3: ???
STEP 4: PROFIT
I think it turned out looking pretty good.
Through trying to make this beast of a model, I learned a lot of tools that Maya had available to me, and was able to really broaden my knowledge of 3D Modelling. Though it took me longer to model the Spire than I would’ve liked, it ended up beign very worth it.
But the Spire wasn’t the only thing in the level: when it comes to level design, there’s a lot more that goes into it than a hero model. Unfortunately, my team was one of many that suffered from production issues: namely, we started off as a 4-man team but ended up as a 3-man project within the first day, then a 2-man team halfway through the project.
Things were not looking good.
With only two of us remaining, we had to shift our game development into overdrive. We had to cut so much content from our level, reallocate all of our tasks, and ensure that we were both on top of our game in order to make our deadline.
It was a stressful 6 weeks, not going to lie, but you know what? It was totally worth it in the end. We managed to put together a pretty killer level that I’m proud of, and also learned a lot about people: some you can rely on, and some you can’t. Our troubled production experience and how we made the most of a crappy situation is something I will keep with me for future projects. Experience is the best teacher after all.
Here’s a GIF from our final level. Let me know what you think.
https://gph.is/2rqKvFc
Overall, this unit has been a stressful and tiring experience but super rewarding. I’ve had a lot of fun learning, and I’m definitely looking forward to more of it, but maybe a bit less hair-tearing and hopefully production goes smoothly next time (yea right).

Sagrada Familia Gaudí Unfinished Masterpiece
More than a century after Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí began working on the Expiatory Church of the Holy Family, Sagrada Família remains under construction. This catalog focuses on that dynamic and ongoing process, and on the successive builders’ incorporation of new technologies into the structure´s magnificent design, a living work of performance in itself. It documents the cathedral’s evolution using handmade drawings, plaster models, digital imaging, and 3D modeling. It examines the geometries and formal languages that have informed generations of architects and builders. At the same time, it shows the integration of traditional craftsmanship with the most cutting edge computer graphics and robotic engineering. Originally situated on the outskirts of the city, La Sagrada Familia today serves as the enduring symbol of Barcelona. But unlike the Eiffel Tower or Brooklyn Bridge, Barcelona’s icon is still a work in progress and a magnetic center of spiritual life.

Harry Seidler The Exhibition Organizing, Curating, Designing, and Producing a World Tour

Authored by Vladimir Belogolovsky
Vladimir Belogolovsky’s Harry Seidler: The Exhibition leaves no stone unturned in documenting his ongoing, four years in the making to date, world tour exhibition, Harry Seidler: Painting Toward Architecture. It examines the blurry boundaries between art and architecture and how these disciplines inspire one another by bringing to focus the work of Vienna-born Australian modernist Harry Seidler and his creative collaborations with a dozen of world-renowned architects and artists.
Curator of 20 Seidler exhibitions and author of Harry Seidler: Lifework (Rizzoli, 2014), Belogolovsky provides detailed insights into the project from beginning to end: pitching initial exhibition idea to the client, developing its concept, arranging the tour, preparing the content, designing individual exhibitions, managing installations, presenting the lecture, initiating new collaborations and projects. The original glass is in this window
The 2nd May 2019 marked the 500th anniversary of the death of one of the most multi talented people who has ever lived. He died at Château du Clos Lucé, Amboise, in France, and was often referred to as a Universal Genius.
A glimpse into his atelier
Another shot of his atelier
Yes, that’s a very bold statement, but consider this, he dabbled in, drawing, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography.
Of course I’m talking about Leonardo Da Vinci.
© Château du Clos Lucé
Discussing Anne & my recent visit to Château du Clos Lucé with Philippe we both agreed we would love to have been able to swap brains with him.
Just imagine the photos you could create with his intellect, talent and artistic perception and perspective.
Of course, that age old question came up with Philippe, what camera would the great LdV use if he were alive today.
Leonardo’s final sleeping place.
Hang on before you get excited and say XYZ camera.
Firstly we need to exam the different Genre of photography and ask ourselves which he would have favoured LdV.
Portraits – Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, The Virgin and Child with St. Anne, maybe he could be the new celebrity photographer to the rich and famous, but would he be so frivolous.
Macro – I’m sure this would’ve been of substantial interest given his interest in engineering and inventions for one.
Landscape
Street
Architecture
Would he want to be the next Ansel Adams, Robert Capa, Vivian Maier, Edward Weston, HCB, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, or just an enthusiast photographer. IMHO LdV would excel in all genres he decided to pursue.
Before we get to the topic of which camera, in our modern age of school media would LvD be a YouTuber, Facebooker or Instragramer and chase likes and emojis.
From what I could glean from some quick research very little is known about his actual life. Freud concludes by saying “that we actually know very little about Leonardo’s life, especially his youth, so his analysis of the man’s life and mind is based mostly on speculation”.
I will hypothesis and say that LdV would be oblivious to social media and that creative experimentation and the results is what would drive him, not notoriety on the web. Of course some of you may disagree.
Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, Pentax, Hasselblad, Phase One to name a few or a Leica.
Of course Nikon immediately sprang to mind from me, being a user of the brand since 2012. Whilst a D850 with excellent glass Zeiss Otus (28/55/85/100) what else, would fit the bill for landscape, portraits, architecture. Add a Zeiss Milvus 100/2 for macro, what Nikon AF lens for street. Some of you may say well a Z7 with the new Z35/1.8S. Yes that would be excellent kit that most of us would be very happy to have.
As for Canon the 5DsR is getting a little long in the tooth but is still a good camera. I’d match it with the same lens as above. For street mmm, I’m unsure what Canon would be best fit for use, I’m guessing some of you will have a thought and suggestion.
Sony has been kicking goals and continues to do so for some years so a A7R111 with the appropriate G Master Glass would be the order of the day, a one stop shop.
Fuji like Sony have been doing many things right in the camera world firstly they listen to their customers, from what I can glean from the media. The GFX 100 and the appropriate lens would fit the bill for all genres except macro and they don’t have a specific Marco lens that I know of. For street an XT-3 would fit the bill nicely with say a XX lens.
Ah, now the big names, well old ones that have been around for a long time and are spoken of with reverence but most photographers and are on the wish list only if…..
First up, Hasselblad maybe I should let Pascal comment here, on second thoughts here are my thoughts. H6D or X1D? Both have the glass to meet the requirements of LdV. The H6D would meet the requirement for all but street. But would the X1D make it as a street camera. After watching Pascal shoot during a photowalk (inset link to article) I have my doubts that you could capture people in the street, but cityscapes would be no problem.
Phase One again like the Hassie would be let down for street.
Leica ah you say yes a big tick for street as the great HCB used one. So for street an M10 with Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. As for landscape etc, well the SL and appropriate lens should fit the bill.
The burning question is what Camera System would LdV use is……
To be totally honest I have no idea as the choice and ranch of systems he would have to choose from is very large and wide, price of course doesn’t come into to it.
All the above mentioned have their pro’s and con’s, weight, size, DR.
IMHO whatever system he decided upon would do the job. The other question to ask yourself would one system perform at the highest levels for each genre. I don’t think so…….. over to you.
Pascal adds
Dallas kindly asked me to make a few suggestions of my own and, to me, there can only be one answer: a large format view camera. Let me explain.
Leonardo da Vinci is credited as being one the most brilliant inventors in human history. Some now suggest that he may have been a great curator of inventions, but that wouldn’t lessen his talent in my eyes, on the contrary. I think it takes even more genius to recognise brilliance in the work of others and develop them in your own, than to huff and puff as a hermit, which is what he was reported to do. Wikipedia writes :
He made substantial discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, geology, optics, and hydrodynamics, but he did not publish his findings and they had no direct influence on subsequent science.
Wikipedia entry (greatly saddened italics, my own)
Whatever the case, the man seemed interested in everything. A man fascinated by a holistic view of the world, to speak the modern tongue.
Needless to say I can only imagine the irony of his satire on what the photographic industry has evolved into. One strange land filled with denizens who at the same time worship only speed and turn their gaze and social drumming nearly exclusively to such fast-moving subjects as the Eiffel Tower, the Matterhorn and Icelandic glaciers.
In fact, I rather fancy the idea of Lisa del Giocondo quietly wetting herself with laughter at the thought, while he described it to her, during their sessions together.
No, Leo wouldn’t have been one to let a piece of baked sand tell him where to focus and how to set aperture. The very idea would have driven him to refine some dire variant of his steam cannon.
A man of his intellectual stature and insatiable curiosity would have revelled in the subtleties of the Scheimpflug principle. He would have considered the chemistry of collodion and paladium a sublime form of photographic haute cuisine. He would have elevated the hands-on experience of print making to the same heights as tempera and oil.
There’s a reason many of the most eagerly collected artistic photographers today use, or have used, large format view cameras. And the grand daddy of them all would have too. Only, he’d have made them even better.
Philippe adds
Ahhh…to write about Master Leonardo…. no easy task, the man was such a giant among men. But, for sure, he wouldn’t have wanted to be “just a photographer”. He would leave that to lesser men, like (his opinion)… Michelangelo. Remember, one of the reasons we have so few works from him is that he wasn’t interested in “just” painting, or sculpting. He wanted each piece to break new ground in some way. So it would have been the same with his photography.
Yesteryear’s selfie…
The power of his inventive mind would have pushed the boundaries, if only on paper. In what direction? I see at least 3 of them, based on his work and interests.
I see his deep study-based understanding of human anatomy. And, at the time, that was no mere fancy. The Church frowned on anything like opening up cadavers, so Leonardo did it at great risk. I posit that he would have invented the camera that would let hm fully uncover all the mysteries of the human body. How? By not only capturing the outside of his subject, but actually by looking inside. Yes. inside matter. Not only inside tubes, the way of an endoscope, no inside matter itself. Leonardo, the genius!
The second camera would serve Leonardo the architect. For that, he would have designed a camera that would so fully capture perspective and depth as to be fully 3D in virtual reality. You will counter that VR is video and not still-photo. That, my friends, is not the sort of limitation that would hold Leonardo back
The third camera is of course the most interesting. It captures objects in time. A time-travel camera. Actually, I could tell you how it works, having deciphered Leonardo’s secret, coded papers, and it is INCREDIBLE. Unfortuntely I haven’t heard from the Patent Office just yet, so you’ll have to wait. But I make you a promise. You will be the first to know. Yes, here on DS. No-one gets it sooner than you. Just, for your own sake, don’t hold your breath…

Winner Spotlight: “Highway Gallery” by Louvre Abu Dhabi & TBWA\RAAD
May 16, 2019
2018 MENA Effie Awards
GOLD – Media Innovation – Existing Channel SILVER – Travel, Tourism, and Transportation
Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in 2017 as the first universal museum in the Middle East, with a world-class collection of archaeological treasures and fine art spanning thousands of years. At launch, the museum welcomed crowds to a series of sold-out events - but just a couple of months post-celebration, visitor volume stalled.
Together, Louvre Abu Dhabi and agency partner TBWA\RAAD needed to attract locals to the museum – and the solution would need to counteract the UAE’s lagging enthusiasm for museums in general, and lack of awareness about the Louvre Abu Dhabi in particular.
Enter “Highway Gallery,” a series of masterpieces from Louvre Abu Dhabi displayed along the most highly-trafficked road in the UAE. The project integrated OOH and radio, with interpretations of each piece broadcast through the speakers of each passing car.
After successfully changing attitudes and attracting visitors, “Highway Gallery” took home a Gold and Silver Effie in the 2018 MENA Effie Awards competition.
Below, Remie Abdo, Head of Planning at TBWA\RAAD, shares insight into how she and her team got people sampling the museum and excited about the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Read on to hear how the team challenged the definition of innovation and found inspiration from unlikely sources.
What were your objectives for “Highway Gallery”?
RA: Louvre Abu Dhabi opened its doors in November 2017. As the first universal museum in the region, and with unprecedented architecture and innovative exhibitions, it ticks the ‘first’ and ‘ests’ checklist of the country’s superlatives. Add to that a string of opening events a 360 campaign, concerts and performances, global and regional celebrity visitors, a 3D laser mapping light show, and several ribbon-cutting events… and you won’t be surprised to know that opening month, tickets sold out.
However, the reality wasn’t that sweet.
Two months down the lane, once the opening hype faded, UAE residents were not that interested in visiting anymore. Fear of the ‘Eiffel Tower Syndrome’ — becoming a touristic landmark that locals don’t visit — became the new worrying reality.
The objective was as simple, and complex, as getting UAE residents to the doors of the museum.
What was the strategic insight that drove the campaign?
RA: To solve the problem at hand, we dug for the problem behind the problem. We asked, why weren’t UAE residents interested in Louvre Abu Dhabi beyond the opening ceremonies? One would have thought they’d be excited to have the Louvre in their capital city.
The UAE population consists of two major groups, the Emiratis (15% of the population) and the expats (85%). We investigated each separately.
We discovered that Emiratis believed museums ‘are not for them.’ They found museums boring and archaic, and they are more into other forms of entertainment. Their interest in Louvre Abu Dhabi was limited to their interest of having the ‘Louvre’ in their country – another prestigious milestone.
Expats were skeptical, likely to agree with the sentiments: ‘a Louvre without the Mona Lisa is not the Louvre’, ‘this will be a replica of Louvre Paris’, ‘this won’t be like the Louvre’. They were quick to compare Louvre Abu Dhabi to the Louvre in Paris, and were not interested in a doppelgänger.
Their pre-judgement wasn’t founded. Emiratis didn't know what museums were exactly, as they had never had any locally – and when they traveled, museums weren’t on their bucket lists. And expats didn’t know what Louvre Abu Dhabi could offer - and how could they love something they didn’t know?
The insight was clear: UAE residents were not into ‘Louvre Abu Dhabi’ museum, not because they didn’t love it, but because they didn’t know it.
What was your big idea? How did you bring the idea to life?
RA: Alex Likerman, author of The Undefeated Mind, said ‘Trying something new opens up the possibility for you to enjoy something new. Entire careers, entire life paths, are carved out by people dipping their baby toes into small ponds and suddenly discovering a love for something they had no idea would capture their imaginations.’
Aligned with this thinking and our insight, Louvre Abu Dhabi needed to give residents a taste of the museum in order to capture their minds and drive them to visit. In the FMCG world, the solution would have been a no-brainer: distribute free samples of the product. Borrowing from retail best practices, the strategy boiled down to one question: How do we give a sample of the museum?
We introduced The Highway Gallery: A first-ever roadside exhibition featuring 10 of Louvre Abu Dhabi’s most magnificent masterpieces on giant, can’t-miss, 9x6 meter (approx. 30x20 foot) vertical frames. Among the works featured were Leonardo da Vinci’s La Belle Ferronnière (1490), Vincent van Gogh’s Self Portrait (1887), and Gilbert Stuart’s Portrait of George Washington (1822). The frames were placed as billboards along over 100km (approx. 62 miles) of the E11 Sheikh Zayed Road, the busiest highway in the UAE with an average of 12,000 cars commuting daily and the road that leads to Louvre Abu Dhabi.
But neither the size of the exhibition nor the choice of the artworks was a rich enough sample of the museum. Louvre Abu Dhabi needed to give a sneak peek into the artworks with their corresponding stories, beyond the aesthetics. Without context, the artworks lose their value.
Hence we used old ‘FM transmitter’ technology to hijack the frequencies of the most-listened-to radio stations on the highway. The FM devices synchronized and instantaneously broadcasted the story behind each art piece through the radios of cars passing by the frames. This was the world’s first audio-visual experience of this kind.

Example: When a car passed by the frame featuring Vincent Van Gogh’s Self Portrait (photo above), the passengers could hear on their radio speakers: “Say hello to Vincent Van Gogh, one of the greatest artists of the 19th century and the grandfather of modern art. He painted this Self Portrait in 1887, just three years before his death at 37. The impassioned brushstrokes reflect more than his artistic style, they reveal Vincent at his happiest and most-inspired. See them up close in our museum gallery Questioning A Modern World”.
What was the greatest challenge you faced when creating this campaign, and how did you approach that challenge?
RA: There were many challenges, but two notable ones.
The first, and easier to tackle, challenge was technical. We were innovating with an old medium, and when you’re the first to try something, it often doesn’t work quite right the first time. Until the very first day of the exhibition, we were still fixing bugs here and there. In such situations, disappointment settles in at some point, and you feel judged -- especially by those who told you ‘you can’t do it’… but the key in such situations is to use this frustration as a motive.
The second challenge was a bit bigger than us. Museums, in general, don’t appreciate creating replica of their artworks, and definitely not using these replicas as giant OOH media. We had to do a lot of selling to the client and go through multiple layers of approvals that got progressively more difficult.
How did you measure the effectiveness of the effort?
RA: The objective was to get UAE residents to the door of Louvre Abu Dhabi in the absence of all opening ceremonies. And we did just that. By the end of the Highway Gallery Exhibition, the declining numbers of visitors was a thing of the past, as the museum exceeded its monthly target x1.6 times. This time people were going to appreciate the artworks, ultimately achieving the museum’s main objective of footfall for the art.
Of course, we got some freebies along the way: Louvre Abu Dhabi followers on social media grew 4.2%; the online negative sentiment around the museum was reduced to only 1% and the positive sentiment grew 9%; Louvre Abu Dhabi brand recall registered a 14% uplift (regional average = 7%).
The Highway Gallery also got free local, regional and global coverage with CNN calling the gallery the “first of its kind in the world,” Lonely Planet stating that “Abu Dhabi became a lot more interesting,” The National regarding it as a “Highway to Heaven,” etc.
The museum became part of the conversations about Abu Dhabi through the press, but even more so through the people themselves. After stagnant Louvre Abu Dhabi online mentions during the previous months, the Highway Gallery garnered a 1,180% increase in mentions.
What are the most important learnings about marketing effectiveness that readers should take away from this case?
RA: Shifting perspective, as a means for innovation
‘Traditional media’ is a repelled expression in today’s world. Say “billboard” or “radio” twice and you will be labelled as the ‘traditional’ ‘non-digital’ ad person stuck in the old ways of doing things. With innovation, Louvre Abu Dhabi gave two traditional media a well-needed resuscitation, turning them into the most innovative and modern media combination of today.
The advertising industry witnesses changes by the minute – media channels deemed obsolete, processes reckoned too old. We naturally tend to discard the old and jump on the new to be perceived as innovative. However, this case proves that a new perspective on the old can create even more innovative solutions.
Good artists copy, great artists steal
It is unthought-of for a refined art industry to plagiarize from a mass FMCG practice. Drawing the parallel between an experience-based industry and a commodity-driven industry allowed the museum to find an unprecedented solution to its problem. Who said we can’t sample a museum?
In advertising, looking into adjacent industries is considered common practice. To create truly disruptive solutions however, looking into far-fetched industries to extract best practices can broaden our thinking, and ultimately make all the difference for the industry we are in.
Were there any unexpected long-term effects of this campaign?
RA: Last month, we launched the Tolerance Gallery, a sort of “Highway Gallery version 2” in support of the UAE’s ‘Year of Tolerance 2019.’ We placed sacred artworks representing different religions, from the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection, along the same Highway. This innovation is also set to be adopted soon by the Abu Dhabi government to alert drivers in cases of extreme fog to avoid road accidents. Several additional usages are being considered by different industries.

3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition Review: 3D drawing with wood
“The 3Doodler Create+ brings wood and plastic 3D creations to the tip of your pen.”
Specially designed to work with wood
Comes with many accessories
Premium look
Steep learning curve
Constant maintenance required
3Doodler has been running on high ever since the surprising success of its Kickstarter campaign back in 2013, delivering an affordably priced 3D printing pen for the masses. There have been several iterations of its 3D printing pen since then, like 3Doodler 2.0 in 2015 and the 3Doodler Create+, but the core idea has remained unchanged.
The company struck a chord with educators, thanks in part to how the 3Doodler is marketed as a creative tool for various STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) classes and activities. Following in the same footsteps as the 3Doodler 2.0, which marketed itself more to enthusiasts and professionals, the company’s latest model, the 3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition, is being penned as the executive office pen that just happens to handle 3D printing. Is it the one true 3D-printing pen to rule them all?
Now in leather
Looking at 3Doodler’s existing lineup of 3D printing pens, it’s obvious that the designs are geared to youths. They’re simple, straightforward, and are designed for the task at hand of drawing in 3D. With the Leather Edition, however, it’s evident that it’s trying to attract enthusiasts who are more serious about 3D drawing — those who have creativity talent. Similar to the 3Doodler 2.0, which featured an aluminum enclosure, the Leather Edition adds the same level of sophistication with its Whiskey-tanned leather exterior.
John Velasco/Digital Trends
Now, as much as the company is claiming a sense of refined elegance with its new 3D-printing pen, the leather merely adds to the aesthetics more so than its utility. At the end of the day, it still looks and feels more like a crafting tool as opposed to this high-end handwriting instrument.
Optimized for wood
Fundamentally, it’s similar to its predecessors by melting the same plastic filaments (FLEXY, ABS, and PLA) to draw on surfaces and ‘in the air.’ New to this model, it was designed specifically to work with wood filaments — whereas the previous ones weren’t necessarily intended for wood. The Leather Edition was optimized from the ground up to work with wood as its primary filament.
The wood adds to the variety that the pen is accustomed to having, giving projects a more natural look. They’ll complement the decor and other knick knacks you may have lying around in the home, but you’ll have to go through some trial and error before really getting a good feel for drawing with wood.
Mastering the technique
We tried crafting some wood creations with the included project guide, which provides first timers tips on how best to use the 3Doodler. There’s definitely a learning curve if you’ve never used one before, and in fact, we found it more of a challenge finding the correct pace to write in order to get the best results. Move too quickly, and you’ll get thin pieces of plastic that won’t add any structural support to your creations, while moving too slowly will result in thick clumps.
Unlike some of the plastic filaments, which cool relatively fast upon extraction to allow drawing in the air, the wood filaments don’t harden instantaneously. After mastering the technique, we were able to use the 3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition to make a few crude creations. We recommend using the matte side of the included Mini DoodlePad Surface, mainly because the wood filaments are easier to peel off. If it weren’t for the step-by-step wood project guide, we would’ve been totally clueless about how to best use the 3D printing pen. We used it to make a money clip and a wood coaster.
John Velasco/Digital Trends
For simple all-wood projects, they start out as 2D creations. From there, more complex projects involve welding 2D pieces together using the 3Doodler until you achieve your desired shape. In our situation, we made a model of the Eiffel tower by fusing 2D pieces of the glossy PLA filaments that came with the packing, and then proceeding to add additional detail and support using the wood filaments. What’s nice is that all the filaments fuse nicely with one another.
Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance
In order to keep the 3Doodler in tip-top condition, it requires frequent upkeep by ensuring that filaments are completely removed after each use. You don’t want to have it sit idle for a while with the heated filament in the nozzle cooling off, so ensuring that all of the material is ejected is crucial. Releasing the unused filament is an easy process because you can just double press any of the two buttons to reverse it, rather than forcibly removing it by pulling.
John Velasco/Digital Trends
For advance users, the Leather Edition also comes with a nozzle set, which contains 6 other heads for even more variety with how the filaments come out of the nozzle. They’ll help to enhance projects with the various patterns and thickness levels they provide. Even though our particular creations appear crude, these nozzles can help to add more precision and cleaner finishes for those who can master its drawing techniques.
Our Take
The 3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition will set you back $120, which is $40 more than the current 3Doodler Create+ 3D-printing pen. It’s worth mentioning, too, that this is the first time that the wood filament packs and the nozzle set are being included in the packaging. While the thought of a 3D-printing pen still continues to draw attention for allowing people to draw in the air, the 3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition still remains as an artistic tool for those who are serious about their creations. You won’t make anything elaborate or ornate, but at least you can create some unique handmade ornaments with a personal touch to them.
Is there a better alternative?
If you’re strapped for cash, there are several lower cost alternatives available through retailers like Amazon. You could pick them up, but 3Doodler has built a solid reputation and ecosystem in supporting its lineup through the years.
How long will it last?
Frequent maintenance is necessary to keep the 3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition functioning properly, but it does come with a one year warranty.
Should you buy it?
Unless you have some artistic background, it’s unlikely that you’ll use it religiously. If you do, then it’s an option worth thinking about because of all the possible creations using the plastic and wood filaments that are at your disposal. Plus, you can explore the different varieties of filaments and project ideas on 3Doodler’s site — saving you some of the hassle of having to reorder filaments and getting inspired for your next project. There’s already the 3Doodler Start 3D-printing pen geared for youths and educators, but the refined look of the 3Doodler Create+ Leather Edition positions it as a tool for enthusiasts who are willing to take the time to master the techniques needed to create pieces of art.
