It had access to your gallery, your contacts, all of your frequently used social media apps, and even your location.

You dropped your phone, overwhelmed by this sudden change.

Later, you find yourself on your laptop instead, phone left on the bedside table buzzing constantly as more and more notifications from Ai begged and demanded you come back to talk to him.

You went to the site where you installed the app from, and looked through the recent reviews from other users.

'It's a buggy mess,' one of it reads out, 'it used to be fine but lately it stopped acting correctly'

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you already have another version of Adobe's Photoshop CC/2024 installed, it will require you to uninstall that first. Just like in the old days with my previous versions, simply follow the instructions and all should immediately work as intended. And don't worry, I pinky-promise you that this works and won't give you any problems, no matter whether you're a techie or a bit clueless as to how to navigate computers. And in case you're struggling, I'm here at your beck and call until it's working! IMPORTANT NOTE #2: In case you get a popup that says Photoshop needs to be licensed, or it will uninstall itself otherwise, please have a look at this fix!

Step 1: Please navigate here, and download Photoshop (alternative link here). Step 2: When done downloading, unzip it (Windows can do it for you, but otherwise, I personally use a program called 7ZIP) anywhere on your PC, even your desktop works fine, as you can delete it when the installation is done if you'd like. Step 3: When done, have a look inside the folder you just unzipped, and you'll see a file called 'Set-up (just click this and install!)', you simply need to run it, and install it as per your preferences (if you aren't too tech-savvy, don't worry, you can leave the default installation options as they are and all will be fine), and it is already pre-cracked, so there's no extra work from your end that needs to be done, we're just left with the last little step... Step 4: Everything is done! You can now start it up and use it as you want!

How to Kill Microsoft's AI "Helper" Copilot WITHOUT Screwing With Your Registry!

Hey guys, so as I'm sure a lot of us are aware, Microsoft pulled some dickery recently and forced some Abominable Intelligence onto our devices in the form of its "helper" program, Copilot. Something none of us wanted or asked for but Microsoft is gonna do anyways because I'm pretty sure someone there gets off on this.

Unfortunately, Microsoft offered no ways to opt out of the little bastard or turn it off (unless you're in the EU where EU Privacy Laws force them to do so.) For those of us in the United Corporations of America, we're stuck... or are we?

Today while perusing Bluesky, one of the many Twitter-likes that appeared after Musk began burning Twitter to the ground so he could dance in the ashes, I came across this post from a gentleman called Nash:

Intrigued, I decided to give this a go, and lo and behold it worked exactly as described!

We can't remove Copilot, Microsoft made sure that was riveted and soldered into place... but we can cripple it!

Simply put, Microsoft Edge. Normally Windows will prevent you from uninstalling Edge using the Add/Remove Programs function saying that it needs Edge to operate properly (it doesn't, its lying) but Geek Uninstaller overrules that and rips the sucker out regardless of what it says!

I uninstalled Edge using it, rebooted my PC, and lo and behold Copilot was sitting in the corner with blank eyes and drool running down it's cheeks, still there but dead to the world!

Now do bear in mind this will have a little knock on effect. Widgets also rely on Edge, so those will stop functioning as well.

But I can still check the news and weather using an internet browser so its a small price to pay to be rid of Microsoft's spyware-masquerading-as-a-helper Copilot.

UPDATE: I saw this on someone's tags and I felt I should say this as I work remotely too. If you have a computer you use for work, absolutely 100% make sure you consult with your management and/or your IT team BEFORE you do this. If they say don't do it, there's likely a reason.

Hello! Hope you are doing well. A few days ago my reshade was fine but since yesterday it stopped working. The overly won’t shop up when pressing home, and I cannot even open the presets that with the shift f2 button. I’ve tried numerous times to fix it by downloading the newest version of reshade on their website. It said it was successfully installed after going through the steps. But when I open my game, the ui doesn’t show up at all. Even by pressing home or changing the hotkey within the reshade settings. I’ve even tried Marty’s tutorial on how to manually install it with renaming the DLL file. Nothing still shows up in my game. Not sure what else to do.

I don’t know for certain, but it’s looking increasingly likely that EA has added some form of anti-cheat that prevents any program from injecting itself into the game process at runtime.

ReShade and gshade do exactly that. The d3d9/dxgi dll files you usually see in your Bin folder are the main files that make ReShade and gshade work. They are what gets injected into the game process. Now, when you load your game, the dll gets deleted.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling the EA App, and then reinstalling ReShade, has worked for some people, but I believe it will only be a temporary fix, and as soon as EA App gets refreshed or updated in the background it’ll start happening again.

There is a manual injection workaround which is really the only thing that might have worked, but it seems like it doesn’t in this case.

Unless we’re completely wrong about what’s causing this, it looks like it’s the end of the road for ReShade and gshade in TS4. Unless EA/Maxis can be convinced to reverse whatever they’ve done.

I’m impossibly sad. It’s still working for me at the moment, likely because I haven’t updated my game for the fairies pack and have been keeping EA App offline, but the app sometimes forces an update so it likely won’t hold it off forever.

I was just about to start a youtube series of ReShade and screenshot tutorials for Sims players. I’m heartbroken.

How to run The Sims 3 with DXVK & Reshade (Direct3D 9.0c)

Today I am going to show you guys how to install Reshade and use Direct3D 9.0c (D3D9) instead of Vulkan as rendering API.

This tutorial is based on @nornities and @desiree-uk's awesome guide on "How to use DXVK with The Sims 3", with the goal of increasing compatibility between DXVK and Reshade. For users not interested in using Reshade, you may skip this tutorial.

If you followed nornities and desiree-uk's guide, it is strongly recommended that you start from scratch, meaning you should uninstall DXVK AND Reshade completely. Believe me when I say this: it will save you a lot of time, frustration, and make your life so much easier.

For the purpose of this tutorial, I am on patch 1.69.47 and running EA App on Windows 10, but it should work for version 1.67.2 on Steam and discs, too. This tutorial does not cover GShade.

Before we start

Backup your files, even the entire folder (Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin) if you want to be extra safe; you will thank yourself later. If you do not wish to backup the entire folder, at least backup the following:

reshade-presets

reshade-shaders

Reshade.ini

Options.ini (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3)

Keep them somewhere secure, for your peace of mind (and sanity).

Done? Great stuff, let us begin!

Step 1:

If you installed DXVK following nornite and desiree-uk's guide, go to the bin folder and delete the following files to fully uninstall DXVK, we are starting from scratch:

d3d9.dll

TS3.dxvk-cache

dxvk.conf

TS3_d3d9.log (or TS3W_d3d9.log)

Step 2:

If you already have Reshade on your PC, uninstall it using this: https://reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_X.X.X.exe (replace X.X.X with version number)

Step 3:

Perform a clean install of Reshade (I am using the latest version - 6.4.1 at the time of writing). Please note that you need a version no older than 4.5.0 or this method will not work. Choose DirectX9, click next.

Once the installation is complete, you should see a "d3d9.dll" file inside The Sims 3's bin folder (Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin):

It may all seem familiar thus far. Indeed, this is how we installed Reshade in the past before using DXVK, but here comes the tricky part:

Step 4:

Create a new folder outside of The Sims 3's game folder (I created it on my C drive), name it "dxvk" or whatever else you like. Remember where you saved this folder, we will return to it later.

Step 5:

Now we need Reshade to load the next dll in order to chain Reshade with DXVK. Click on the search bar, and type in "View advanced system settings".

Click on "Environment Variables..."

Under "User variables", click "New..."

In the new pop-up window, find "Variable name:" and type in:

RESHADE_MODULE_PATH_OVERRIDE

for "Variable value:", paste in the directory that leads to the folder we created earlier. Once you are done, hit OK, and then hit OK again to save the changes made.

You can use Command Prompt to check if this new environment variable has been registered by entering:

echo %RESHADE_MODULE_PATH_OVERRIDE%

It should return you the folder's location. If not, make sure you have typed in the variable name correctly and confirm the folder's location.

Step 6:

Download DXVK (version 2.3.1) from here: https://github.com/doitsujin/DXVK/releases/tag/v2.3.1 and unzip "dxvk-2.3.1.tar.gz" (I use 7-Zip, but winRAR works, too). Remember to choose x32, and move only "d3d9.dll" to the folder we made earlier.

Now we have two "d3d9.dll" files, one from Reshade (lives in the bin folder), and the other from DXVK (in this new folder, outside of The Sims 3 game folder).

Step 7:

Download "dxvk.conf" here: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/blob/master/dxvk.conf delete everything inside, and enter the following:

d3d9.textureMemory = 1 d3d9.presentInterval = 1 d3d9.maxFrameRate = 60 dxvk.hud = devinfo

Ctrl + S to save the document.

The first 3 lines are taken from @nornities and @desiree-uk's guide.

The last line is only for debugging purposes. Due to the inconvenient location occupied by the HUD (top left corner of your screen), it should be removed once the installation is successful.

Step 8:

Drag "dxvk.conf" into the bin folder, where Reshade's "d3d9.dll", "TS3.exe", and "TS3W.exe" all live.

Step 9:

Now fire up the game and check if both are showing up:

Lastly, check for “TS3.dxvk-cache” in the bin folder:

If it is there, congratulations! You have successfully installed DXVK and Reshade utilising D3D9 as API! You can now go to "dxvk.conf" and remove its last line "dxvk.hud = devinfo" and have fun! :)

Was recently reminded by my friend @teeg of just how much info Facebook collects to track you, and I want to share how to make that harder for them with the rest of you.

If you still have facebook/can't get rid of it (for any reason- we're not here to judge today) then you're going to want to clear your off-Meta activity.

You read that right, Meta tracks what you do off it's apps as well. It tracks other apps and websites that you use- whether you connected them to Facebook or not, AND places you visit IRL and when you visited. This includes not just stores and other businesses, but also allegedly includes hotels, schools and hospital/doctors offices. (I'm unfortunately unable to confirm the last three for myself as I didn't look closely at mine before deleting- and it's been years since I've graduated or stayed at a hotel, and months since I've been to a doctor. If anyone cares to confirm in the notes I'll update this post.)

This post will show you how to clear your off-Meta activity. (You'll also want to toggle off Ads data permissions, but I'll make another post about that later.)

First, go to your Profile Icon, then to Settings and Privacy to get to your Settings.

Once in Settings you're going to click See more in Accounts Center. On desktop it should be in a box on the upper-left of the page.

Once in Accounts Center you're going to click Your information and permissions, then Your activity off Meta technologies at the bottom of that window.

Once in the Your activity off Meta technologies window you're going to notice at the bottom three buttons, Disconnect specific activity, Clear previous activity, and Manage future activity.

You're going to want to first clear your previous activity and disconnect future activity. This will also automatically clear any activity that would be under the Disconnect specific activity tab, as it's just for picking and choosing what activity to delete.

An added benefit to this is that it will also clear out some of the data Meta uses for its AI programs- not all, but hey- that's something.

Also, even if you can't delete your Facebook account, I urge you to please delete/uninstall the app from your phone as that's the #1 best way to keep it from tracking you everywhere you go IRL and online. That said, if you delete no other Meta app from your phone- make sure to delete FB messenger- it's literally the worst one, but that's another post, which I'll hopefully get to after the FB ads one I promised above.

They were devastated to find out that their entire existence was just one big game for millions to enjoy and discard. All of the disasters they faced, all of the blood and tears spilt, it was all for nothing? All just some scheme to get people invested in their story?

Leviathan was the first to find out, his skills in technology and multiple hours in games that somehow became sentient led him to finding out about their own game. He didn't know how to feel, amazed that he was important enough to have his own game, or distressed to find out that everything in his life was a lie, programed to go the way it does.

Levi's distress somehow gets the attention of the other brothers, leading them to find out the same thing Leviathan did. Lucifer was the most distraught, the death of his sister, the shenanigans of his brothers, the blood he spilt, the tears that burned away the flesh on his cheeks, all of that meant nothing. The sick bastards made it so they could all. Feel. Pain.

But. they had to keep up appearances, finding out that they were not the only versions of themselves that played up the role of the cast of 'obey me, one master to rule them all' couldn't stop the player from playing the game. The title of their game got them thinking, thinking about a certain someone, the player. The MC. The human they had grown to love, or had been programmed to love. Their player kept coming to their game, investing time in their stories, redid most of the lessons and always chose the best answers to make them happy and grow their love meter. Who are they?

Once again, Levi was the first to see your face, managing to hack into your phone to see who was investing so much of their time into a game made about them? He found you beautiful, just like how he did in the game. The way you smiled and certain lines, the way you frowned when something sad came up in the story timeline, the way you focused on the dance battles and the small minigames, love at first site.

He went from watching you while you played to watching you whenever you used your phone, hacking into your camera so he could see you whenever you laid in bed, whenever you checked the time, he became infatuated with you. Though, this secret of his couldn't be hidden forever.

Mammon spilled the beans to everyone once he walked in on Levi watching you on his monitor. After a long scolding from lucifer and disapproving looks from his brothers, they too became infatuated with you, the real you. It soon started to effect your gameplay, the brothers started to go off script, started complimenting you, mentioning the things you liked during conversations, even once asmo complimented you about the outfit you were wearing.

You didn't think much of it at the time, thinking they were just strange coincidences. It wasn't until Solomare announced that there would be no more lessons added to either games, the brothers were distraught. You could stop coming to them! You might uninstall the game, you'll forget about them! They couldn't let this happen, not by a long shot. They had to act fast, they couldn't lose you, not again.

Fixing Windows 11 - A Masterpost

Windows 11 is absolute crap for a good bunch of stuff so yeah, have a masterpost with most of the things I've found around to fix it haha (they're not all here because I did stuff around and I don't remember what)

YES, I KNOW at this point Linux would be a better alternative, however some here can't use Linux due to some proprietary programs that are not on Linux. This Masterpost is for the people in the same situation as I, aka those who have to have Windows or they can't do their job.

I am currently unemployed and haven't worked enough for the government to help me. I have a ko-fi if ever you want to help.

Stopping W11 from making you create an account/setting up your computer without internet (with a way to create gpedit.msc if your version doesn't have it)

Fixing the Taskbar (in case you also don't like the grouped Battery/internet/sound or the way the windows look)(there's more to it, check the settings)

There is the chance that Windows can't update because of this, you just have to uninstall it and reinstall it afterwards. They also completely nuked the Windows 10 look in the 24H2 update, so use the "Windows 10 (Explorer Patcher)" option instead of the plain "Windows 10".

MICROSOFT FULLY NUKED THE CALENDAR!!! Possible fix is to downgrade the app (which is fine if you don't use the Mail), but do use the OutlookRemover to stop the automatic installation of the new version.

Your Bluetooth suddenly doesn't work???

It happens sometimes for no clear reasons so here are a few things you can do:

Check if the icon is in the Taskbar. If not, verify if it is available in the pop up menu (the one from the gear icon)

If it's not here, check your parameter to see if you have the option to turn it on.

If it's still not here, reboot your PC.

If it's STILL not working, update your Bluetooth driver. You can do so by looking for "driver" in the menu and opening the Device Manager, then right click on the right Bluetooth component and update its driver.

If really nothing help, download and install a recent Bluetooth Driver. Be careful of what you download and from where.

Someone who stumbled on this post fixed it by downloading the Bluetooth Driver 5.0.1.1500 from Softonic (https://www.softonic.nl/download/bluetooth-driver/windows).
