I don’t know why people are saying the Hansry reunion at Suchdol was underwhelming?? Look at the time they’re in, they can’t exactly go around screeching their feelings for each other—but if Henry stands up for Hans during the talk with Hanush about his wedding, it’s so bloody obvious how in love Hans is with Henry.
That speechless, longing look he gives Henry when Hanush says Hans isn’t happy about the wedding, and Henry looks directly at Hans and says with intimate understanding, “I can see why.”
The conversation with Hans after Hanush leaves where he tells Henry how worried he was about him, how Henry promises to tend to his wounds later and Hans’ voice softens in the cutest way because he’ll do just about anything to be alone with Henry again.
Hans mentioning finding somewhere more ‘private’ for the two of them to live together while Hans actively sabotages his wedding at every turn (lmao love him for that).
And when Hans says, “You and me… I guess we’ll have to wait and see” - if you listen to the determination and thought in his tone, this isn’t him saying he’s laying down and taking whatever is being forced on him. It’s him promising Henry that there will be a you and me’ regardless of what happens. Which means even if he does get married, he’s going to find a way to still be with Henry—status and expectations be damned.
They literally cannot live without each other, it’s absolutely disgusting and perfect and horrible and lovely and devastatingly beautiful, I hate them so goddamn much (affectionate)

watched the catching fire movie p much right after reading the book and I genuinely think I've never seen an adaptation this faithful, with all of the changes to the story only really being the ones strictly necessary for a different format of storytelling. HOWEVER there was one choice I don't understand and that's that they did keep in the part where everyone acted really weird around katniss (johanna stripping naked, chaff kissing her, finnick's sugarcube flirting) but then didn't explain that it's because they were trying to get her attention as someone who defied the capitol, so it just looks like they're extremely weird for absolutely no reason 😭

Do you enjoy underfell? I thought you disliked aus /genq
i don't dislike the concept of AUs itself, I'm just not a fan of like... the subculture that spawned around them in the UT fandom specifically and how it eventually took over almost all canon content (especially when it limits itself to the bros)
i like aus visually! i am an artist at heart after all. it's just that, if I'm going to care about them as stories and not just fun design ideas, my bar is uhh almost impossibly high the further you move from canon lolol.

You know, one thing I don't like when I digitally color sketches is that the colors end up looking a little desaturated because of the paper. It doesn't look bad, I guess, but I have to eventually find a way to "fix" it eventually.
Anyway, today marks 6 years since BATIM Chapter 4 was released. Damn. I know I say something similar every time I recognize the passage of time, but it's hard to believe that it's been more than half a decade since this chapter came out. Time passes, I get older, it's crazy! And I wanted to do something to celebrate. I've never been able to do anything to celebrate this chapter's anniversary since 2019. Which is a shame because "Colossal Wonders" is my favorite chapter in BATIM. Some of my favorite moments from this game are in this chapter.
And every year I try to do something to celebrate the anniversary, but I never manage to do it and it sucks! And as usual, what I really wanted to do this year didn't end up happening. I'll probably do it at some point later, but there was no way I could execute the idea I had in mind in such a short amount of time. But I still wanted to post something today, so something small will have to do.
In this case, oh hey! It's Bertie and Lacie! In recent times I've been going back to old designs of mine of the human cast of the Bendy universe, and since CH4's anniversary was coming up, I thought it would be good to update my designs for both Bertrum and Lacie. It's been so long since I last drew them, so it's about time. I liked the general idea of the last versions of them that I did in the past, so I tried to keep those ideas still, in a way, but at the same time giving them new life. Lacie falls more in this case, tbh. Bert still maintains some of the previous idea, but I had to change a few details. He still looks good, tho.
I originally wanted to put Jack Fain here too, because,by all accounts, Jack Fain only came into existence with the release of CH4 and the remasters of the other chapters. As much as you can put him on CH2's anniversary,he, at the end of the day, was only introduced on April 30, 2018. Problem is, I didn't like the drawing I made of him. I don't know, it wasn't that good in my opinion. And I didn't want to redo the drawing again (this would be my third attempt) and I wouldn't have enough time to redo his part. So today we'll just have Bernie and Lacie. Sorry Jack. Maybe next time, when I show my CH2 cast designs in one place.
Once again, happy anniversary to Chapter 4! This is my favorite chapter of the game to date. It includes some of my favorites from the story, it has several surprises that caught me the first time I saw the chapter, it brought new updates to previous chapters that added things that I still like to this day (and this goes especially for CH2) And overall, it's a pretty cool chapter me thinks. 👍
That one day we can hear more from Bertrum and Lacie again.🙏 (Especially Lacie. Seriously, don't you guys think it's wild that Lacie is the only one of the human cast of BATIM who hasn't appeared in practically anything since the first game. Like, yeah, she's mentioned in the Handbook, but other than that, she's not mentioned in nothing else after, whether in games or books. I think about this from time to time. Truly one of the Bendy characters of all time)

I just think his final ascension slaps SO hard
#;ooc#ooc#;d.ante#i like that it has some reminiscences to how paintings depicted the actual d.ante (fashion wise)#like the pointy shoes; the triangle shape on his chest that is like the one he has on d.omenico's painting#the laurel crown; the long robes; the use of red and black mainly#while still holding onto this fantasy game vibe look; like he just fits into f.go perfectly#the index and middle finger together making a reference to c.hrist (c.hristian iconography) as paintings often depicted this type of pose#a reference to the actual d.ante being c.hristian i assume#the spirals/circle-like patterns inside his robe#usually we tend to see those type of patterns when concepts like despair or madness want to be conveyed#it also fits with the whole layers of h.ell theme#also i might be tripping but the knot he has on his waist might be thisone type of knot made for rock climbing#which is also very fitting as a reference to canto 1; the start of the i.nferno part#bc it starts as he is in these dark woods and he sets out to climb up a small mountain to take a better view#but gets blocked by 3 beasts and so on so forth#i MIGHT be overanalizing it tho but if that was the case that would also be a nice lil detail#i really like when in the designs; there are these subtle elements that are characteristic of the figure in question#even if at first it might look random; which ok- sometimes it is; but also a lot of other times its not; but it gets underseen#its not bad if a design lacks on a 'meaning' behind it; the only difference is that if it has one; it adds a whole bunch more depth#because lets take as an example; a.rtoria/a.rthur's design#its not precisely charged of items/things that are reminiscing of king arthur but its still VERY iconic#it does convey a feeling that the character is either a king or a knight; so it works on that department#even if its lacking a bit on historical nudges and the such#it works in a different department; and thats good too because its afterall; a g.acha game and not a game that seeks historical accuracy#or like a.rash; but i feel like his design is meant more to convey an idea than a stylized cultural representation and/or show elements-#of his story; same as a.rtoria's/a.rthur's case#ANYWAYS WHATEVER#what the heck do i even know#dare i even add;; theres one pattern on his robe with 3 triangles;; the number 3 is also very iconic in the poem; 33 cantos 3 parts

On one hand, I am fully aware that the pursuit of perfect 'historical accuracy' in media is just part of the same push for hyper-realism that's becoming more and more popular in gaming these days, which is often used to discredit the increadibly creative stories and designs being made outside of the realm of AAA titles in an attempt to equate what is considered 'good' with what is the most expensive to produce. Additionally, I've noticed that 'historical accuracy' is often evoked by bigots trying to pretend their fury at the inclusion of a queer person/character of color/plot-relevant woman is because they value an adherence to (their inaccurate understanding of) history, and not because they're bigots.
That said, as a history student and enjoyer, NOTHING gets me more excited than a pedantic level of historical accuracy. There's an option to use long s? There are codexes providing historical context? There's a nuanced look at the role of religion?? I am THERE. I am HOOKED. I will be gushing over every little thing you get right. I am the target audience for this.

i think one of the major things i see with modern games/artists that try to replicate a late 90s/early 2000s low-poly style is that they tend to go a bit too hard into readability. All the games I've played from that time have a style sort of characterized by the fact that their texture is more 'complex' than the actual 3D model itself, which sort of causes objects/enemies/npcs/whatever to often look stretched or largely ambiguous about what they're actually supposed to be. Like don't get me wrong a lot of people are ignoring that sort of texturing on purpose because they want their art to be readable (which makes sense, and can lead to very visually pretty results when done correctly) but I am a bit sad to not see practically anyone trying to replicate what games at the time actually looked like. It's especially sad to see game like dusk or gloomwood not go 100% into this because their subject matter would greatly benefit from it imo. Just think about how many games at the time had these almost eldritch, otherworldly set pieces and motifs! they had those because their models were often hard to decipher and kind of gross looking because of the limitations of the technology they had to work with, and so rather than just going welp the game looks bad oh well, they made creature designs that actually worked with this. none of this ultimately matters but I am kind of tired of seeing so many games made that try to emulate this style that don't understand why it existed in the first place.

Decided to try this out
I know this has probably been done before, but wanted to try this out. So I love RPG and D&D; so take this alignment test and a class test. Feel free to choose from the various clans that exist in D&D. And then do this picrew.
Neither of the tests, or the picrew, belong to me btw.
This can be you or an OC btw. I decided to do Fantasy nonsense me.
My results [below the cut]
Alignment
Chaotic good; A chaotic good character acts as their conscience directs them with little regard for what others expect of them. They make their own way, but they are kind and benevolent. They believe in goodness and right but have little use for laws and regulations. They hate it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. They follow their own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit. However, chaotic good can be a dangerous alignment when it disrupts the order of society and punishes those who do well for themselves.
Class
Ranger; You are a ranger! Your skillset is a blend of naturalistic knowledge and personal survival skill. Rangers are at home in even the wildest and least hospitable of places, such as vast jungles or suffocating caverns. They are skilled hunters and nimble warriors, a base which they supplement with impressive tracking skills and a vast knowledge of their prey obtained through observation and experience. Some rangers bond with an animal and battle alongside it as a partner, while others practice complex combat maneuvers or place a focus on stealthy ambushes. Some even focus on harnessing the magical power of nature, much like druids. A ranger is a skilled and self-sufficient skirmisher who uses their mobility and skillset to fight effectively at any distance - especially against their favored prey.
Tumblr media
Dove, a chaotic good ranger guiding others. Writes stories and knits in their free time. Has a mailing pigeon for messages and letters.

for the drabble spotify wrapped game, if you want: i rolled my rainbow d10 twice and we have a 75 🌈

75: America's Sweetheart by Elle King
uh. I don't know where this came from. i apologise, my partner-in-fluff 🫡
Also I am obviously not abiding by the technical 100-word definition of drabble here, but instead the much looser 'short piece of writing'.
spotify wrapped drabbles!
Steve doesn't know when he stopped caring about killing people. It didn't bother him until he started caring again.
It's not anyone unusual, is the thing that gets him. It's a nameless, almost-faceless drug smuggler that he didn't even mean to kill, but he shot with intent to disable and a little too much carelessness in a rush to stop the ship they came in on, and when he finally loops back around there's a pool of blood and a corpse with a busted femoral artery.
He's kneeling down, checking a pulse even though it's clearly absent, removing weapons even though he'll clearly have no use for them, when his fingers brush against a thin edge in the inside pocket of the off-the-rack grey suit jacket the guy's wearing.
When he pulls it out, it's a photo. He has to look down to check that it's the same guy in it, partially because death rictus changes a face, especially when your comparison is smiling and happy, and partially because he just hasn't looked at his face properly. It's the same guy, his arm around a similarly smiling woman shoulder-height to him and so close in features she has to be his sister, with a chubby-cheeked frizzy-haired kid straddling his shoulders and holding onto the woman's hand.
One of the first things the military teaches you, explicitly or not, is to erase personhood. Your own, and your enemy's. Numbers, statistics, body parts and targets and usefulness.
He puts the photo back into the dead man's jacket and moves away. A tech comes at some point, body-bags him, and Duke is there and the rest of his team have it well in hand, so he goes back to where their cars are parked, boosts himself onto the hood of the truck, and waits.
Kono walks past at some point, but they're still in the midst of cleanup and HPD handover, so even though she does slow and ask, "You okay, boss?", when he replies in the affirmative she nods and keeps moving.
He remembers himself before. He remembers when it would never would have occurred to him not to think that every person with a bullet in them is a person with a family. A person with a life, at least before they were a person with a death.
He doesn't bother trying to count. The impulse washes over him, but it would take hours with military records and Five-0 reports to calculate anything even close to accuracy.
Himself before was decades ago, but also not that long ago. It was target practice at the Academy and work behind computers in Military Intelligence and crawling through mud with a similarly young Freddie by his side.
Himself after, apparently, is sitting on his own truck at the edge of his own city watching his family and his family's family and his friends and his friends' friends move efficiently through shipping containers and body bags.
Eventually, Danny finds him. He takes one look at Steve's face; he doesn't say anything, just leans against the hood next to Steve and waits.
Eventually, Steve finds the words. "I don't think the military would like me anymore, Danny."
It's not all that new a state of affairs; he got driven by revenge and tattoos in non-regulation places and too many personal attachments and he remembered how to have fun in quiet spaces and how to love in loud ones. He started caring again.
"Good," Danny says, harsh and definite, and Steve realises with a start that the things that would debase him in the eyes of his country are probably exactly the same reasons Danny - not just Danny, his whole family - would cite for loving him. Except the tattoos, maybe.
He can't bring himself to be upset about it in the face of that.
