Love replaying Deltarune chapters 1 and 2 this weekend with my husband watching it for the first time and him speed running lore theories as we go.

Usurper of the Wilds and the Lion Den

Intro | Rose Maze | Witch’s Lake-house | Desert Manor | Poison Palace | Death’s Mansion | Dragon’s Castle

This chapter isn’t as similar to its incarnation of the original version. Instead of Leon’a being upset about a sports game, he’s upset about serving this higher up that had informed them that they need Yuu, whether they were dead or alive, the bbeg (Crowley) didn’t care.

After defeating (Killing or Saving) Riddle, and either steal or obtain his charm, Yuu runs to this slight hole in the wall of this fortress looking castle that leads underground to this den-like cave. Yuu runs into thinking they were safe from beastman scouts that had spotted them earlier. That’s when they run into Jack, the newest edition to the pride of Beastman. He noticed them immediately and began to chase them. Yuu had to use a different method to escape from Jack and other future “stalkers”. After all, Beastman have far more superior senses than humans. An instant game over if Jack caught them.

Anyway, They escape and make it to the surface of the “den”. This is were a cutscene will play out to reveal Leona and Ruggie speaking about some sort of plan to steal the “prisoner” from the Rose Maze before the sun rose up again, not realizing that Yuu had already escaped and freed the Heartslaybul gang from their torment.

It follows with Jack rushing in and confusing Leona and Ruggie, as he explains that Yuu, and a strange cat monster has arrived in the den. Ruggie is shocked and relieved that they don’t have to bother with the Rose Maze, while Leona is amused that Yuu manage to survive this long into the Lion’s Den so he retires to his room and Task Ruggie and Jack as well as the entirety of the Den to search and bring Yuu to him…alive.

Yuu’s like “fuck this” and tries to escape the Lion’s Den, but obviously that doesn’t work as they run into Ruggie, who immediately tries to capture them, and initiates a mini boss fight. Unlike Rose Maze which was more stealth base than Battle or puzzle base, Lion’s Den is more battle base, than puzzle or stealth.

Yuu wins and has the options to either kill or spare, each has a consequence that leads towards the end, anyway, Yuu actually confronts Leona in his study, while being chase, this starts a cutscene of Yuu threatening to kill Leona which makes him laugh, and that he’d rather team up and fight against the BBEG but he needs their power Yuu has the power of the great seven, Yuu refuses as they don’t know about the power, which causes a fight. Yuu obviously wins this fight and the option comes up again (Kill or Spare). Whatever option Yuu chooses doesn’t effect how they obtain Leona’s charm (His Choker)
