Hyundai Sonata AWD et Ford Explorer 2025

Le monde de l’automobile n’est pas que VUS et pick-up. Malgré la diminution de l’intérêt par les consommateurs en général, il reste encore plusieurs berlines intéressantes sur notre marché, surtout au Québec. Toutefois, alors que les constructeurs américains ont presque tous éliminé la plupart des berlines de leurs catalogues, les constructeurs européens et asiatiques, eux, continuent de nous en proposer…surtout les asiatiques! Et c’est pourquoi j’ai choisi peut-être la plus typique des berlines sud-coréennes pour mon sujet de la semaine, la belle Hyundai Sonata.

Je dis « belle » avec conviction. Cette auto de dimensions intermédiaires est très belle. Elle affiche même un design que l’on aurait qualifié de futuriste il n’y a pas si longtemps. J’aime surtout les lignes que ses designers ont donné à la portion avant du véhicule ajoutant cette nouvelle calandre plus agressive mais en même temps plus élégante que dans le passé. Mais, encore une fois, je vous laisse la liberté d’en penser ce que vous voulez!

Reconduite presque entièrement, la version 2025 de la Sonata nous revient avec la même plateforme à traction avant ou intégrale (ma voiture d’essai affichait fièrement le sigle HTrac à son coffre signifiant qu’elle était à traction intégrale). Toutes sont mues par un quatre cylindres de 2,5 litres atmosphérique ou turbocompressé (disponible dans la version sportive N-Line mais qu’avec la traction avant) et une boîte automatique (semi-automatique sur la N-Line) à huit rapports. Ce moteur développe 191 chevaux et 181 livres-pied de couple (290 et 311 en configuration turbocompressée N-Line) ce qui est amplement suffisant pour une berline de 3548 livres.

L’intérieur en est spacieux et accueillant. Si le tableau de bord vous semble un peu simple, il conserve quand même une certaine élégance. L’instrumentation (numérique) est complète mais comme c’en est le cas pour tant de voitures modernes, il faut consulter les instructions pour tout comprendre son fonctionnement. Bien entendu, tout passe par le système d’audiodivertissement avec l’écran tactile de 12,3 pouces qui accepte la connexion aux systèmes Android Auto ou Apple CarPlay. Ne cherchez pas le levier de vitesses traditionnel, il a été remplacé par une sorte de commande rotative au bout d’une manette que l’on tourne pour passer en marche avant ou arrière.

Les sièges avant sont très confortables, tout comme ceux d’arrière. Ce qui ajoute au plaisir de voyager dans une telle Sonata, c’est la finition impeccable et le choix des matériaux qui est exceptionnel pour une auto aussi abordable. Quant à la malle arrière, elle est très utile sans être ni étroite, ni exagérée, juste de la bonne dimension.

Sur la route

Toutefois, ne vous attendez pas à des remarques excitantes en ce qui a trait à mes impressions de conduite concernant la Sonata. Je ne veux pas dénigrer la voiture ici. Juste rappeler que la conduite de cette auto est très prévisible et très sure. Mais elle demeure bien ordinaire. Ce n’est certes pas une berline sportive avec une suspension ferme et une direction des plus précises mais tout cela est secondaire quand on est au volant de la Sonata. En d’autres mots, cette belle Hyundai est reposante à conduire. Pas d’échappements bruyants, pas de sons exagérés de la route, juste des accélérations franches qui peuvent demander de huit à neuf secondes pour passer du point mort à 100 km/h. Les reprises sont un peu plus rapides et surtout rassurantes. Cependant, je dirais que les pneus Pirelli P235/45 R18 ont certainement aidé au comportement routier stable de la berline. Enfin, grâce à la traction intégrale de cette Hyundai, voilà une berline qui devrait être plus agile et certainement plus pratique en hiver (si équipée des pneus d’hiver appropriés). Les autres Sonata peuvent être équipées de la traction avant (la seule disponible avec la version de performance N-Line).

La Sonata fait partie de ce groupe de berlines nous venant surtout d’Asie dont la Honda Accord, la Subaru Legacy, la Toyota Camry, la VW Jetta, la Kia K5 ou encore la Nissan Altima (qui disparaîtra après 2025). Les prix ne varient pas beaucoup chez Hyundai, ils ne vont que selon la version choisie. Dans le cas de ma voiture d’essai, on parle de 36 524 $ incluant le transport et la préparation ce qui, à mes yeux, est très raisonnable. Incidemment, il n’y a plus de version hybride de cette voiture au Canada.

Évidemment, la Sonata n’est pas une auto énergivore. J’ai obtenu une consommation de 10,9 l./100 km mais qu’en conduite presque uniquement urbaine (le constructeur annonce 9,9, une mesure prise pat Energuide Canada). Et avec de l’essence régulière seulement.

Plusieurs articles mentionnent une sorte de regain d’intérêt à prévoir pour les voitures de type berline. Si c’en est le cas ou, surtout, si vous pensez avoir besoin d’une berline comme moyen de transport ou pour la famille, n’oubliez surtout pas la Hyundai Sonata dans vos choix!

Rapide essai du Ford Explorer 2025

Ford du Canada a eu une idée brillante. Au lieu d’envoyer une poignée de journalistes automobile dans une région reculée des États-Unis (fort possiblement en Californie) pour le lancement médiatique de son VUS intermédiaire Explorer 2025 légèrement révisé, les représentants du constructeur a choisi de transporter une demi-douzaine de ces camionnettes dans divers coins du pays pour que le plus de journalistes possible puissent l’essayer, ne serait-ce que pendant une journée. J’ai donc été invité pour la tournée dans la région de Montréal.

L’exercice fut plutôt simple. Nous sommes partis, deux par véhicule, de la région de Brossard au sud de Montréal pour une tournée dans la région de Bromont dans les Cantons-de-l’Est. Évidemment, la première portion se faisait sur autoroute pour que nous puissions expérimenter le principe Blue Cruise de conduite autonome (ce que je venais de faire au volant du Cadillac XT-6 la semaine dernière). Au départ, je vous dirais que le principe est le même mais que celui de Ford est plus sensible aux expressions faciales du conducteur (faut pas quitter la route de yeux trop longtemps!). Mais j’y reviendrai plus tard quand je prendrai l’Explorer pour un essai plus long.

Sachez que, pour 2025, Ford a révisé les phares avant, la calandre le bouclier avant et les feux arrière de l’Explorer. Il en a aussi changé les dénominations la version SE s’appelant désormais Active qui est suivie des ST Line, ST et Platinum. Il n’a pas encore été question de la finition plus robuste Timberline qui pourrait nous revenir sous un autre nom (Tremor?).

Les deux moteurs au catalogue sont le quatre cylindres EcoBoost de 2,3 litres à turbocompresseur qui fait rien de moins que 300 chevaux et 310 li-pi de couple (révisé pour éliminer le décalage du turbo et avoir plus de puissance à bas régime) et le V6 aussi à turbocompresseur de 3,0 litres qui développe de 400 chevaux et 415 li-pi. La seule boîte de vitesses disponible est l’automatique à 10 rapports (reprogrammée) alors qu’au Canada, l’Explorer (sur une architecture de base à propulsion) ne vient qu’avec la traction intégrale.

À l’intérieur, les changements les plus importants sont au niveau du tableau de bord et de sa programmation maintenant appelée Ford Digital Experience. L’explorer est toujours capable d’accepter sept personnes à son bord sauf pour la version Platinum à moteur V6 qui n’en prend que six. Les prix devraient varier de 52 830 $ à 71 430$ plus les options et autres frais.

Outre notre randonnée sur autoroute et sur les routes de campagnes autour de Bromont, nous avons pu grimper la montagne par le chemin de service qui mène au chalet au sommet, une expérience presque hors-route (aussi raisonnable que possible au volant d’un Explorer) intéressante compte tenu des pneus Pirelli qui équipaient nos modèles d’essai.

Pour compléter notre journée de prise de contact avec l’Explorer, Ford y avait transporté un prototype du nouvel Expedition dont il a été question dans ce blogue la semaine dernière. Une petite démonstration du fonctionnement du panneau arrière qui se transforme en petite table ou en petit banc a complété l’exercice (en plus d’avoir eu la confirmation que la version Timberline deviendrait Tremor!). On en saura plus long quand je pourrai mettre la main sur une version de production de l’Expedition au printemps prochain!

Nova Hyundai Santa Cruz terá “capacidade aprimorada” para encarar Maverick

Picape intermediária ganhará novidades e será apresentada em breve no Salão de Nova York Apresentada no mercado norte-americano em abril de 2021, a picape Santa Cruz, da Hyundai, está prestes a completar três anos de mercado. Como de praxe, a marca prepara para o modelos atualizações de meia-vida e promete apresentá-las oficialmente dentro de algumas semanas. O palco para estreia, inclusive, já foi definido: será o Salão de Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, que abre as portas no dia 27 de março. A Hyundai ainda guarda as mudanças em segredo, mas divulgou imagens e deixou escapar que a renovada Santa Cruz 2025 terá “capacidade aprimorada”. Nos teasers, a marca mostra a traseira da picape com para-choque redesenhado, aspecto mais robusto e caixas-de-roda com novos revestimento. Na dianteira, haverá nova grade remodelada e com pintura em cinza para constrastar com a carroceria. Na cabine, tudo indica que haverá painel renovado com melhor ergonomia e sistema de entretenimento atualizado. Além disso, a Hyundai adicionará novos sistemas de assistência ao motorista como padrão desde a versão de entrada. Dentro do portfólio, a versão XRT - com pegada mais off-road - ganhará protagonismo e receberá a maior parte das novidades. É ela, inclusive, que aparece nos teasers. Mecanicamente, serão mantidos os motores atuais. Ou seja, propulsores 2.5 aspirado (injeção direta de gasolina) com 190 cv e 24,9 kgfm de torque, e 2.5 turbo com 275 cv e 42,9 kgfm de torque. O câmbio continuará automático de 8 marchas, com opção de tração integral com seletor de modos HTRAC, que varia a distribuição entre os eixos dependendo do modo selecionado. Renovada e com interior aprimorado, a Santa Cruz terá a missão de intensificar ainda mais a rivalidade mantida com a Maverick nos Estados Unidos. Em 2023, o modelo Hyundai vendeu 36.675 unidades no mercado norte-americano, enquanto a picape Ford (mais barata e vendida em rede de lojas bem maior) emplacou 94.058 exemplares. Santa Cruz no Brasil Por aqui, o lançamento da Santa Cruz chegou a ser especulado, mas a própria Hyundai negou recentemente os rumores. Segundo a marca, a picape é produzida nos EUA e atende unicamente a demanda local, sem volume excedente para eventual exportação. Além disso, trazê-la para o Brasil custaria caro por conta dos impostos e inviabilizaria qualquer chance comercial da caminhonete no mercado. Nova Hyundai Santa Cruz terá “capacidade aprimorada” para encarar Maverick

Picape intermediária ganhará novidades e será apresentada em breve no Salão de Nova York Apresentada no mercado norte-americano em abril de 2021, a picape Santa Cruz, da Hyundai, está prestes a completar três anos de mercado. Como de praxe, a marca prepara para o modelos atualizações de meia-vida e promete apresentá-las oficialmente dentro de algumas semanas. O palco para estreia, inclusive, já foi definido: será o Salão de Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, que abre as portas no dia 27 de março. A Hyundai ainda guarda as mudanças em segredo, mas divulgou imagens e deixou escapar que a renovada Santa Cruz 2025 terá “capacidade aprimorada”. Nos teasers, a marca mostra a traseira da picape com para-choque redesenhado, aspecto mais robusto e caixas-de-roda com novos revestimento. Na dianteira, haverá nova grade remodelada e com pintura em cinza para constrastar com a carroceria. Na cabine, tudo indica que haverá painel renovado com melhor ergonomia e sistema de entretenimento atualizado. Além disso, a Hyundai adicionará novos sistemas de assistência ao motorista como padrão desde a versão de entrada.
