Self-Promote Saturday

Old fics can still be fun, so to keep the fandom ecosystem alive, I’m promoting one of my own today. This week’s self-promote Saturday fic is: Home of the sky take me to the home of my youth (15k)

What if Hiccup left after he saw the red death instead of staying to show how the dragons can be. This story takes place six years after he left when he has to return to investigate rumours about a rise in raids. He comes face to face with too familiar faces and pains from the past.

This fic is very dear to me, because at the time it was the longest thing I had ever written and it was the first time I did chapters or a bigger plot, so I was so proud of it. It's also just a fun trope; Hiccup coming back scorned, but needing help. And I love it when characters don't realize it's this person, who has returned and talk about themselves to them. So, having Hiccup in disguise while Stoick was mourning him was really interesting to explore :D

Just watched the live action httyd trailer and I dont know how to feel because it is just a shot for shot remake of the live movie, I knew and could quote all the scenes I saw in that trailer. I'm sure the actors are going to do an amazing job, I'm glad Gerard Butler kept his tole because he fits Stoick so well, also Astrid and Hiccups actors fit them so well from whati saw in the trailer, which im happy about.

However I'm worried the writing is going to do thay thing where they make woman badass but make them 2 dimensional.

My childhood love htttyd is still very much here, so I'm still gonna give it a chance and hold out for them not ruining it in some way... which it would be hard to do with a shot for shot remake but

Okay Ima need everyone to stop with all the negativity about the new htttyd movie. That cast list JUST came out and everyones pissed off. No, the movie isn't going to suck because you personally don't like the casting. Maybe at least wait tilll the fucking trailers out to lose all hope for a movie. Jesus.

Tell me everything about the HTTTYD time travel au

Okay, so I did this a few years ago. It was actually my second fic to ever write. I deleted it because I didn't have any idea where to go with it.

This fic starts on episode one of Riders Of Berk, it makes my life easier. Hiccup, Toothless and five others are sent to their past bodies after death, it'll be discovered how and why later on.

It'll go all the way to HTTYD 3 because why not.

Omg Omg!!!! I remember researching this last year!!! And i distinctly remember that picture so im pretty sure we read the same article lol

Its been awhile and im going off memory sooo

But!

I thought it was super cool because the green color is caused by an extreme excess of this certain component in your blood stream. Humans have it too, but this concentration would like, instantly kill you, right? In fact, it kinda makes these lizards’ blood toxic, and some researchers theorize its so high in order to kill an infection common among similar species.

But it got me thinking—-there are htttyd species that are specifically said to have toxic blood. What if they do that by taking the green blood up one more notch? Im gonna have to look into it again to see if thats actually possible lol. But isnt that such a perfect coincidence? I love it. Plus, every dragon having green blood could mayyybe even be explained by the plague in the past that almost wiped them out; they had an extreme response like the lizards did!

I just went and looked for the article i read back then, for any interested (or that want a more accurate explanation lol):

Since they have green blood, I imagine the HTTYD dragons with green mouths and tongues and fleshy bits like green-blooded skinks, unless they have pigment there (like Toothless and his red highlights)

Reddit adventures numéro 2: someone replied to a poll i made about which outfits were best in the franchise basically saying that they liked the fact Astrid was dirty in HTTYD 1 but then they made her pretty and a trophy wife that only serves the purpose to be Hiccup's therapist in THW. Like, what?? Have we been watching two different franchises?

Astrid has been supportive of Hiccup from the get go, it wasn't something the writers pulled out of buttfuck nowhere for the purpose of the last film. She guided him at the end of the first movie, at the beginning of the second and at the moment end of the third - not to mention the endless compilations of her helping him out in RTTE. She's his biggest supporter! He turns to her for advice! And she's gonna help him!

And going back to one of my recent posts, yes Astrid becomes more feminine and beautiful as the franchise goes on... What's the problem? Yeah, she's conventionally attractive and not as "relatable" but it's an animated film, alright?

And also, what's so bad about her being girly? She changed because of Hiccup. Their relationship opened up a softer side of her. You can literally look up what the writers and directors had to say about it. Besides everybody got a glow up in each movie, it's not a big deal. No one has a problem with how "hot" everyone finds Hiccup in THW compared to him in the first movie...

I swear society thinks they're going one way but they're actually going the other.
