in general i already adore establishing shots and lingering focus shots that are meant to show off the scenery or the filmography, because i'm weak for visual beauty, but i especially love it when animated movies do it.

how to train your dragon 2 was great at this

they treated this movie like their personal art project and i'm so glad they did.

and oh the funeral shots, this movie went so hard with the framing and composition and i am here for it

(so many shots of hiccup from behind where the viewer is witnessing the world and events alongside him, seeing it as he does<3)

i just love it when movies are a little pretentious and artistic and proud of it (as deserved!!)
