All about ducts system
The purpose of ducts is to supply conditioned air throughout the conditioned building spaces. They play a major role in ventilation systems. They are used in different industries in a unique way and come in various materials, shape, sizes, and rigidity. There are basically two types of ducts-
Flexible ducts: Flexible ducts are made up of two aluminum and polyester concentric tubes, wherein a glass wool layer or fiberglass wool is inserted in between the two tubes to serve as thermal insulation. Their main use is to connect main air ducts and terminal units such as diffusers or grids.
Metal or rigid ducts: Metal ducts are made from different kinds of sheet metal, like galvanized or stainless steel, copper and aluminum. They are cut, and formed into the required measured shape for the duct system.
Duct systems are designed to meet the several requirements such as:
Deliver the right amount of air from each room to provide comfort.
Ducts are sealed, tested for tightness and insulated to the R-value recommended in your area.
System should be dampened, either automatically or manually.
