every time i see someone refer to hyrule warriors as a loz game/in the loz series i get the urge to autistically and pedantically be like um its a dynasty warriors game with the permissions to use loz assets 🤓☝️ and while this is quite silly, especially from someone who tags their hw posts as loz, i do think it would be useful sometimes to remember this, because it is different. it has a different relationship to nintendo than the loz games, it works on different rules, and it isn't at any point intended to be part of the larger canon. sometimes i see people talking about it like these things aren't true and i get the impression they're just hurting themselves with false hope. there isn't gonna be a sequel or a remake or any mention of it. nintendo doesn't own it like the rest of them, hell they own it even less than they own minish cap and four swords (which are technically capcom). there's a different relationship here going on, between character identity and story beats and game mechanics, that is a set pre-negotiated thing. yes aoc and aoi exist, but that's under a different agreement - nintendo has more involvement in the story, it's a collaboration not a give of permission.

idk. maybe this is just me getting autistic about wording choices but like. it didn't even sell a million copies. they're not gonna touch og hyrule warriors again. and i think that's okay. it's its own thing! and we do not need daddy nintendo to sanction or bless our continued enjoyment of it. we don't need a continuous stream of content to find joy in fandom - fandom is our work and our community.

10 years we've all been here with not a crumb. and we can for 10 more years if we just keep having fun with it
