Master List
The moon shone brightly over the town, casting dark shadows around every corner. Lights dimly lit up the main streets, guiding you on your way home. You had decided to cut through an alley, something that you typically did to cut your travel short. Yet, as soon as you stepped foot into the dark alley only being lit up by the moon, you heard bells chime behind you. You paused, heart accelerating.
There were rumors of a Hypogen monster that lurked in the shadows. That if you heard bells to not look behind you or you would be doomed. How the screams of its victims were silenced before they could even let out a peep. You thought they were tales parents told to keep their kids from sneaking out at night, but at the moment it felt all too real. Taking in a deep breath, you tried to regain your composure, it was a silly rumor, but the way your hair stood on end had you stay cautious.
You continued walking, trying to ignore the giggles that now accompanied the jingles. Your head twitched, instinct begging you to just take a peak at what was making noise, but you forced your head to stay forward. Your pace grew faster, as the end of the alley came into view. Every fiber in your bones told you you’d be safer in the light (silly humans always thought that).
Just as you were about to step foot out of the alley, relief briefly flowed through you, only for that hope to be snatched just as quickly. Dark glove clad hands tugged you back by your shoulders, that giggling voice now right next to your ear. You couldn’t stop the shriek that tore from your lips as an inky dark face came into view. It donned a jagged grin, you could barely comprehend what you were currently witnessing. It had no lips, its jagged mouth reminding you of a jack-o-lantern, except jack-o-lanterns were meant to ward off evil. It seemed to lack any eyes, as there were no pupils or iris’, just pure white that was tinted purple.
Its giggles turned into full blown laughter as it continued to drag you back into the inky blackness. You struggled, unsure what it wanted with you, but clearly it was nothing good. Your stomach dropped when you were suddenly picked up and were flying. You ceased your struggling, suddenly very aware that the hypogean could easily drop you to your demise. That seemed to amuse it all the more as its impossibly wide grin widened.
Then, like it hadn’t just kidnapped you, set you down on your now wobbly legs. You placed your weight on a nearby wall, slowly taking in your surroundings. It wasn’t Esperia, that was for sure, which made your blood run cold. The two of you were in an area that you could only describe to look like a void. Dark, purple tinted clouds curled in the distance, the only ground being the weird estate like structure you were currently in. It hurt your mind wondering just how this place existed, and the hypogean seemed all too pleased by your expression.
“You are tonight's winner!” The being exclaimed in a flourish. It twirled before falling into a dramatic bow, but instead of just taking off its hat, it took off its entire head. You blinked, bewildered as its eyes blinked up at you. It paused, as if waiting for you to clap, and you couldn’t hold the laughter that flew past your lips in surprise. The entire situation was absurd, and if you didn’t laugh you might actually cry.
Your reactions seemed to make the entity even more jolly as it swiftly put its head on backwards. Only to twist it into the correct position, causing you to chuckle once more. It seemed to thrive on your ‘enjoyment’ (you didn’t find much joy in this situation) as it was more enthusiastic than before.
“I knew you would be an interesting human,” It preened, every movement exaggerated as if to entertain. “As tonight’s winner, your prize is to witness a show put on by the great Berial himself!” The bells on his uniform chimed gently as he floated up, arms wide open along with his wings.
You watched with caution, unsure of what was to become of you. Just what did Hypogeans find entertaining? Didn’t they enjoy the anguish of people? Spilling blood and finding joy in tears? It clearly found joy in your fear earlier, but strangely he seemed to enjoy your amusement as well. What would happen to you after the ‘show’? Is that when he would dispose of you? Perhaps you were the last act, to be messed with until you could no longer cry nor bleed.
“Now take a seat and let the show begin!” Berial (you assumed) exclaimed, whisking you away into a room that held a stage. One lone seat laid before it, and the jester gently pushed you into it.
Every act had you on the edge of your seat. He would take a classic magician trick and have some dark twist. It took out a magician's wand, and with a flourish, it turned into a bouquet. You hadn’t seen magicians before, your only exposure being that from books, so it was all new to you. You merely worked at a tavern, hence why you were walking home so late in the first place. So at first, when he presented you the bouquet, you had forgotten for a split second that this was a hypogean you were dealing with, stranded in the middle of the definition of nowhere. Hesitantly you reached for the bouquet, the flowers were breathtakingly beautiful, and when your fingers wrapped around the base, bugs started to crawl out of the flowers. You screamed out of surprise, dropping the flowers and pushing yourself as far as you could into the surprisingly comfortable chair.
Berial’s laugh rang out above you as you tried to steady your breathing. Once again it found your fear hilarious, and you halfheartedly glared. He laughed so hard his head rolled off his head, and you watched as it rolled past you, descending into an inky shadow. Its glowing eyes seemed to be seared into your eyelids as you swore you could still see the glow after you blinked. Your attention turned back to Berial’s body as it furiously patted where it’s head once hovered (you noticed it never fully connected with the rest of his body).
You watched curiously as his hat appeared in one of his hands. He reached into his hat, pulling out miscellaneous items. Your amusement grew as the items grew to be more ridiculous. You lost it when it pulled out a gleamtail, the squirrel-like animal looking around confused, your gentle laugh filling the silence. That seemed to be the goal of that act, as he finally pulled his own head out of his hat, plopping both back where they belonged. He bowed again, and this time you did clap, a small grin tugging at your lips. The longer you watched, the more comfortable you became, and the less scary the entity before you seemed. Its acts grew more and more ridiculous, with a scare or two in between.
Yet every show must come to an end. Berial was bowing once again after cutting a shadow creature in half and pretended to have lost its lower half. You clapped, finding yourself enjoying the company of such a strange being, only for the curtains to finally close. The show had been going on for so long that you forgot that there was going to be an end. You felt yourself tense once more, unsure what was going to happen next. Was this it? Were you going to die? He had all his fun and now it was time to get rid of you. You anxiously stayed in your seat, eyes scanning your surroundings. The grandiose room was dark, the lights that lit up the stage were gone and it was hard for you to see much of anything.
“Boo!” Berial popped out suddenly in front of you. You flinched back, his long nose nearly poking your own. His glowing eyes and mouth were the only thing lighting up your surroundings. Giggling lightly, it pulled away, the rest of his body blending in with the darkness.
“You are such a fun human,” It giggled, hands holding its face in what seemed to be fake adoration. “I’m tempted to keep you around.” This seemed to be your way out. Even if you actually had fun, you didn’t want to stick around for too long. Hopefully you could convince him to let you go.
“W-wouldn’t it be more fun to bring me back to Esperia?” You asked, feeling a bit intimidated with his eyes solely on you. “To try and catch me off guard?”
“My, and you’re so smart for a human,” Berial clapped. “Hide and seek does sound fun.” Before you could fully comprehend what he just said, you picked you up from your seat again. He flew you both back where you came, and you had to squint as the sun shone overhead.
…
That was how you found yourself with a Hypogean popping out at you when you’d least suspect it. It was weird, as you thought he’d lose interest in you the second he was gone, but he continued to surprise you. Sometimes as you’d walk to work you’d feel like something was watching you from the shadows, and now you had a reason to worry.
Yet it never seemed like Berial actually meant you any harm. Its giggles trailed after you warmly, its scares becoming more playful than scary, sometimes it would even sweep you into an impromptu dance to a song only it could hear. You found yourself looking forward to your next meeting, eyes trailing to the shadows, watching for any hint of a disturbance within.
Your coworkers had started to avoid you when they could. The sound of bells that used to be associated with the night had now started to be associated with you. Quickly you found yourself to be ostracized, people whispering about you just out of hearing range. You started to feel comforted in the jesters presence. He never failed to cheer you up (or scare you), and he found himself spending more time with you as well.
Typically Berial found people boring. They always reacted the same. Scream, cry, plead for their life. That wasn’t fun. And although his perception of fun was a bit…morbid, he couldn’t help but find you interesting. He hadn’t met anyone who actually laughed at his jokes, who didn’t scream when he tipped not just his hat but his entire head. You were a strange and fascinating human, and Berial found himself wanting to spend more and more time with you, seeing if he could make you pull an expression he hasn’t seen before.
He found himself growing fond of you, something he didn’t think he could even feel! How strange you were for pulling these feelings out of him. It wanted more, its hunger insatiable, wanting to explore those odd feelings. The way it felt warm and fluttery at your laugh, or how its nonexistent heart jumped at any contact with you. Oh, and the way your eyes lit up when it would imitate you, and how silly you were when you would play back. No one had ever tried to entertain the entertainer before!
That was how you found yourself in your current situation. The jester weighed you down as it laid its head in your lap. It made you slightly curious if you could pluck his head up just as he can to himself, but you felt it might be a bit rude if you tried (or maybe he’d like that, it was hard to tell). Instead, you found yourself brushing your fingers through his hair, his top hat resting on top of your own head. He seemed to preen under your touch, his jagged smile as wide as ever, he looked like the cat that got the cream. His tail had wrapped around your waist, and you were slightly curious why he seemed to be so affectionate. He was already odd for a Hypogean, but this was just adding to it.
“Is something the matter?” You asked, fingers trailing down to his dark skin. You half expected your hands to ghost through him as his skin seemed to blend in with the shadows.
“Never been better,” It said with a content sigh. You felt yourself heat up at the implication. Was it really so happy to be in your presence? Receiving your affection? You felt even warmer when it nuzzled its face closer to your hands. “What do you humans call this feeling again? Love?” You spluttered, flabbergasted at what just transpired. Love? Is it serious? Can a Hypogean even love? And a human no less.
“H-huh?” You asked, eyes wide as you stared down at it.
Suddenly, he broke out laughing and you felt your heart clench, “I’ve never seen you look like that before! Oh the hilarity!” Of course he doesn’t love you, he’s messing with you. He’s trying to get a rise out of you. And suddenly you found yourself wanting to leave. No longer did he seem warm like you had thought, but instead the cold monster he truly was. You shuffled, trying to push him off of you, but he stayed firm in his place. For someone so bouncy and light looking, he really could be heavy when he wanted.
“Now now,” Berial continued to giggle lightly. “No need for the dramatics. Do I seem like someone who’d tell such jokes?” You only raised an eyebrow and he broke out in laughter once again. “Ah I suppose you have a point, dear. But truely, I would not joke about such things with you.” You wearily watched him as he sat up and turned to fully face you. Lifting up his hands, he gently grabbed your cheeks and squished them, causing you to send him a lighthearted glare.
“You are a strange human indeed,” He muttered, and a strange seriousness filled his tone. “What do you say, human. Do you feel the same?” Once again you felt your guard rise, unsure if this was another of his jokes or if he genuinely meant what he said. Although his smile seemed permanently imprinted into his features, the ends of his mouth looked softer, smaller.
“Maybe,” You muttered to the best of your ability as his hands continued to squish his cheeks, your eyes couldn’t seem to look away no matter how hard you tried.
“Then I must turn that maybe into definitely!” Berial exclaimed, jumping up with a flourish.
“How are you going to do that?” You asked wearily.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you.” And with that, he disappeared with a wink.
Just what have you gotten yourself into?

Mushroom Diversity Uncovered at Maseno University, Siriba Campus, Kenya

Abstract
Mushrooms diversity study is not a new phenomenon, different workers in different parts of the world have always undertaken such studies to better understand the macro fungi flora that occur in those areas. The local non-edible and edible wild mushrooms occurrence, distribution and diversity in Western Kenya and East Africa in general have not been fully understood even though they are useful to urban and rural communities living in this region. Mushrooms are useful to humans as; Source of medicine, Environmental balance, food and ornamentals. Before this study, no study had been conducted in Maseno University Siriba campus, and forest ecosystem to show the existing mushroom flora. This study was therefore initiated to identify and record the available mushroom flora. Maseno university area is located within the geographical coordinates 0°0′ 17.36″ S, 34°36′ 1.62″ E at an altitude of 1503 meters above sea level. The terrain where the collection was made was mainly of built up campus and sloppy forest vegetation, the mean temperature during the collection period was between 19°C and 27°C. Standard sampling was used and the area of study divided into 2 portions/sites. Mushrooms were collected on their vegetative stages and sorted accordingly. The location and substrate on which mushrooms grew were also recorded and photos using a digital camera kept as permanent records. All the species collected were identified based on their morphological characteristics. When identification was complete, Daedalia quercina, Formitopsis gibba, Poliporous cinnabarinus, Xerula radicata, Amanita rannesces, Lycoperdon echinatum, Laccaria bicolor, Clitocybe gibba, Suillus luteu and Daedalia unicolor were the species found to be resident at the Maseno University Siriba campus and the surrounding ecosystem.
Introduction
Mushrooms diversity study is not a new phenomenon, different workers in different parts of the world have always undertaken such studies to better understand the macro fungi flora that occur in those areas (Praveen et al, 2014, Phongeun et al 2010, Brown et al, 2006). Yet the local non-edible and edible wild mushrooms occurrence, distribution and diversity in Western Kenya and East Africa in general have not yet been fully documented and understood even though they are consumed as food and used for medicinal aspects by urban and rural communities living in this region.

Maseno University, Siriba campus is located in an area surrounded by an ecosystem with adequate rain fall and a rich plant diversity leading to the occurrence of organic rich soils. Maseno is found at the geographical coordinates of 0°0′ 17.36″ S, 34°36′ 1.62″ E and an altitude of 1503 meters above sea level. The surrounding terrain is mainly made up of a forest vegetation that is sloppy, a market center in a small town with residential zones and a built up University campus. The general area has a warm tropical temperature with an average ranging between 19°C and 27°C.
Maseno a small town with a population of 14,000, located in Western Kenya has a poor or no organized liquid and solid waste disposal services provided by either the university or the Kisumu county government was a suitable area for this study because the poorly disposed organic substrates that litter the surrounding environment creating a suitable habitat onto which mushrooms and other saprophytic members of the fungi kingdom are able to grow profusely.

Mushrooms or gill fungi have been defined as a macro-fungus with a distinctive fruiting body, which can be hypogenous or epigeous, large enough to be seen with the naked eye and to be picked by hand (Chang, 1989).
They are classified in the division Basidiomycota of the fungi kingdom because their fruiting body form an umbrella shaped basidiocarp with gills onto which are found basidia (Alexopoulos et al., 1996). They mostly grow in terrestrial environments. A large majority is saprophytic but there are a few parasitic types known whose hosts range from algae to a wide variety of angiosperms (Alexopoulos et al., 1996). Their plant body consists of multicellular septate hyphae that may be branched and filamentous. Most mushroom species grow in a span of 14-21 days and to maturity (Alexopoulos et al., 1996).

What is the difference between hypogene and supergene enrichment?
Supergene is a term used to describe near-surface processes and their products, formed at low temperature and pressure by the activity of descending water and gas. The opposite term is hypogene, formed by ascending water and gas at high temperature and pressure.

Note
Lilith Games creator of AFK Arena/Journey and Dislyte is a prime example of having playable evil characters. As well as League of Legends.
Dislyte
Long Mian is obsessed with freezing his enemies and adding them to his collection.
Sakura kidnaps and drugs people and uses them to for her tree to maintain her beauty and tree
Embla lost her memories and the longer she uses her power the more bloodthirsty and battle hungry she becomes
Anesidora perform unethical experiment on her test subjects and believes there should be no restrictions when performing tests. (When you play the story mode she conducted an experiment of the main character friends)
AFK
One of fractions of Arena is Hypogens which are all playable some have tragic stories other are down right evil.
Vyloris tricks heroes into pretending she is imprisoned goddess before killing them
Mortas was a human man before transforming to a Hypogen where he killed his enemies.
Phraesto and other hypogeans will kill the mc for imprisoning them.
LOL
EVELYNN literally exist. She is a SUCCUBUS. She seduces men before she kills them!
Belveth is a voidborn and she will devour any lifeforms and reality.
There are some much playable evil people in Chinese games that the whole CCP restrictions argument falls apart.
https://www.tumblr.com/zeichannnnn/755317359918645248/they-arent-as-culturally-revolutionary-as-genshin?source=share
This post explains why
While I appreciate the insight, Hoyoverse's other writing decisions make me less inclined to be lenient towards them. They decided to put a bunch of vastly different cultures in one nation and then name several characters (who are paper white) after key religious deities in said cultures that probably shouldn't be invoked like this. (Yes this is about kachina). Also, Iansan is in the game.
In addition, in several other games (including Genshin) Hoyoverse has made some questionable writing decisions regarding darker skinned characters. (See Carole from HI3, Xinyan). In addition, despite extreme popularity, their darker skinned characters tend to have less usable kits.
Even if the CCP was breathing down their necks to make characters have lighter skin, their treatment of their existing slightly tanned characters (especially in Sumeru) indicates prejudice on Hoyo's writers' parts. Why is Kaeya, a launch character with the darkest skin in the game, portrayed as shady? Why are the desert people of Sumeru portrayed as bloodthirsty bandits?
If they have such a hard time with regulations, and know they can't put accurately portray a culture, then why include them in the first place?
I acknowledge that government regulation forces Hoyoverse to make certain choices they otherwise would not have. But given their history, forgive me for being angry that they made the decisions they have.

Brochantite star
Many of us have grown similar crystals by hanging a piece of string into a copper sulphate solution and letting it evaporate. In nature, an arid climate or an oxidising (see http://bit.ly/1I4XWKt for an explanation) primary copper sulphide deposit is required for this mineral to form. Colour ranges from bright emerald green to blue green, though its softness (3.5 on Mohs scale) prevents faceting or jewellery use.
Since it forms in the same environments as malachite and azurite (copper carbonates), they are frequently found together, and sometime brochantite replaces the other minerals, taking on their crystal shape in a process called pseudomorphism (from pretend shape in Greek). The more usual distinguishing shape is as sprays of acicular (needle shaped) crystals, often radiating from a common centre. It go was named in 1824 after a French mineralogist, Brochant de Villiers and is an important ore mineral.
Main localities include the copper mines of the Atacama in Chile, the Zaire copper belt in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Tsumeb mine (see http://bit.ly/1c2CjkD) and Arizona in the USA. A few stunning specimens (including the 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm one in the photo) have recently emerged from the Milpillas mine in Sonora, Mexico.

Top 5 Favorite AFK Arena Ships
1) Golus x Estrilda- It’s a knight and a centaur. What’s not to love? Plus I love that enemies to friends to lovers thing! Especially if it’s from disillusiinment, respect forming between each other, and actual build up of tenderness and affection.
2) Saveas x Vurk x Numisu- They already got this great dynamic of an adventure trio. Vurk the chaotic rat man who is smarter than anyone gives him credit for and gets into trouble a lot. Saveas the stoic and intense warrior whose temper is tested by rat man but can be easily calmed by Numisu. And we got Numisu who is the babysitter healer that take no crap and will put these two in line, even if he has to whack the both of them over the head with his staff Rafiki style. But in the end, they all care for each other.
3) Khasos x Belinda- Priestess who falls for the rowdy ruffian apprentice to a Paragon warrior and get into all sorts of hijinks. Belinda and Khasos did not get along at first but both come to like each other and through various events, fall hard. (They’re kind based off of Rick and Evie O’Connell from The Mummy with me. With just a bit of Kikyo and Inuyasha.)
4) Athalia x Wu Kong- Grumpy Angel of Justice with serious flaws and not so great views on humanity meets chaotic stronk monkey who is rightfully confident and loves to antagonize her. They are mostly friends at first, as Wu Kong challenges Athalia’s views on humans and what is the difference between justice and injustice. It is so very slow burn.
5) Brutus x Lucius-Can you see a pattern I have here? Paladin in denial over his feelings for Mauler Paragon who is very vicious in his fights and forces Lucius to give it his all in it. But outside of battle, especially when all factions join together to fight off the Hypogen, is where kind and nice Lucius is very polite if a bit stilted with Brutus who is more amused by his forced politeness. There is so much tension, it could be cut with a knife. They surprisingly start to get along and feelings of admiration for each other turn something more. And while Brutus does not hesitate to make his own feelings known, though he has the sense to keep a low profile on it, Lucius is more conflicted and skittish. But it’s hard to turn away from these feelings when it feels so right to hold Brutus’s hand and feel content.

Earth's deepest known freshwater cave goes a lot deeper than anyone ever realised

Earth's deepest known freshwater cave goes a lot deeper than anyone ever realised

Several years ago, a remotely operated vehicle was descending down into a freshwater cave system, hidden deep under the Czech Republic, when it came to an abrupt end.
Not the end of the cave, that is, but the end of its cable.
Now, new estimates taken from up at the surface suggest we’d need more than twice as much slack to get all the way to the bottom of this profound underwater cavern.
Using recent geophysical surveys of this national gem, known as the Hranice Abyss, scientists have traced the remarkable system of trench-like caves roughly a kilometre down (over half a mile down).
The findings are based on numerous types of geophysical data, including measurements with a gravimeter, in addition to checking electrical conductivity and natural geomagnetic fields in Earth’s subsurface.
Together, this can tell scientists the general locations of rocks, minerals, caverns, and valleys that lie below.
While it’s not a perfect mapping tool, it does suggest the Hranice Abyss extends much deeper than other estimates, like this one below:

— Amazing Maps (@Amazing_Maps) October 6, 2016
It also calls the cave’s origin into question.
The world’s deepest flooded cave systems are notoriously difficult and dangerous to study directly, and even with the help of remotely operated vehicles, our reach is limited.
Research has shown that many of these caves contain temperate waters with acidic elements originating from a deep source. The thermal water in the Hranice Abyss, for instance, was found in a 2019 study to contain only five to 10 percent ‘modern water’.
This has led many to suppose these caves were formed from the bottom-up, with the acidic inner core of our planet slowly eating away at the limestone rock above.
But this idea, known as hypogenic formation, doesn’t take into account each region’s specific geology or tectonic activity, and caves can be formed from the top down, too.
Underneath the Hranice Abyss, the authors of the new research have found evidence for a large-scale network of underground structures made from soluble rock, known as a karst system to geologists.

Conceptual geological cross section showing the Hranice Abyss and a large sedimentary basin called Carpathian Foredeep, in the mid-Miocene (above) and today (below). (Klanica et al., JGR Earth Surface, 2020)
Some of these underground caverns are filled with freshwater, and others with sediment, but the reappraisal suggests they were created by erosion from the top down – at least at first.
In the mid-Miocene, the authors think water probably ran from the mountains into a basin, which gradually carved out caverns in the limestone through erosion. A former drainage system, found connected to the abyss, supports that theory.
“Subsequent sediment deposition (via sea‐level rise) and infill of these canyons caused spring outflows to become blocked and the cave systems to be flooded with fresh water,” the authors suggest.
Only after this would acidic water have welled up from below, the team thinks, bringing deep Earth isotopes up to the surface for us to find later.
If this origin story is right, we might need to reassess other deep, flooded caves in Italy, South Africa, and Brazil, which we assumed were formed from the bottom up.
Nevertheless, the authors admit it’s very possible that the top-down erosion is somehow masking earlier bottom-up sculpting, making it appear as though the cave was created from above.
Geologist Francesco Sauro from the University of Bologna, who was not involved in the study, told Science it was worth re-examining other sites in light of these new and “impressive” estimates.
The study was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface.

Newest Mining Explorer to Trade on TSX Venture Worth Watching
Source: The Gold Report 05/03/2017
The latest company to IPO on the TSX Venture Exchange holds an option on the Cervantes property in Sonora, Mexico, located at the intersection of two major mineralized trends.
Aztec Minerals Inc. (AZT:TSX.V) begins trading on the TSX Venture Exchange on May 4. The company has completed a CA$4.025 million initial public offering. Haywood Securities was the exclusive agent for the IPO, and 11.5 million units were issued, including 1.5 million units exercised through the over-allotment option.
Coeur Mining Inc. has subscribed for 1,919,876 units, according to Aztec, representing "9.99% of the issued shares on a partially diluted basis upon completion of the IPO and Over-Allotment Option."
The proceeds will be used primarily to explore the Cervantes property in Sonora, Mexico. The property sits at the intersection of two trends, a porphyry copper trend that heads northwest into Arizona and a gold sulphide epithermal trend running east west. The copper trend hosts one of the five largest copper mines in the world, Buenavista del Cobre, run by Grupo Mexico, and the gold trend is home to Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd.'s (AEM:TSX; AEM:NYSE) La India mine, as well as Alamos Gold Inc.'s (AGI:TSX; AGI:NYSE) Mulatos mine.
Cervantes, which is road accessible, is a porphyry gold-copper prospect. According to Aztec, the company has "identified one main porphyry gold-copper target and several peripheral targets on the Cervantes Property. The first target, named the "California" zone, is a 900m long by 600m wide, outcropping oxide gold prospect in a near surface "supergene" zone, underlain by a larger sulfide gold-copper target at depth in the "hypogene" zone, both zones typical of porphyry gold-copper deposits."
Aztec plans to initiate a CA$540,000 drill program in late summer, after the rainy season ends. Before that, the company plans to "apply for the drill permits, prepare a camp on the property, repair and upgrade certain roads for drill access, and complete additional mapping and sampling to refine the drill sites. Aztec also has plans to expand its land position in Sonora, evaluate additional mineral properties for acquisition and grow its management team."
The company has an option agreement to purchase Cervantes from Kootenay Silver in two stages. It can earn up to a 65% interest over four years "by making certain exploration expenditures, cash payments, and share issuances to Kootenay over a four year period. Stage 2 gives Aztec the right to purchase the additional 35% interest by preparing a scoping study and resource estimate and paying Kootenay US$5.00 per gold equivalent ounce for their 35% share of the resource ounces. Kootenay will retain a 2.5% NSR, 0.5% of which Aztec can purchase for US$500,000. Aztec will be commencing year 3 of the Stage 1 option exercise requirements this year."
Aztec features an experienced team. President and CEO Joey Wilkins, in his 20 years with Kennecott, ran exploration projects for porphyry copper-gold deposits in northern Mexico and South America. Brad Cooke, the founder of Aztec and a director, is the CEO of Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR:TSX; EXK:NYSE; EJD:FSE). Director Mark Rebagliati is the executive vice president for exploration for Hunter Dickinson and is a recipient of PDAC's Bill Dennis Award for a Canadian Discovery and Prospecting Success. And director Patricio Varas was the exploration manager of Far West Mining, which was acquired by Capstone Mining Corp. (CS:TSX) for $725 million in 2011 for its Santo Domingo copper-iron-gold project in Chile.
