I love the fact that I can work as hard as I can manage with a broken tooth and a dying tooth (one on each side, I've been chewing on the cavity for a year) and I still cannot save even $10 towards getting dental treatment (2 impacted wisdom teeth, + tooth broken off under the gum, + bad cavity) because I barely make enough to cover my food and board and the insane energy bill

some of my favorite details from Superman (2025) - spoilers below! 💙❤️
The opening using the "rule of threes" in a very literal sense through a comic-style opening was so cool
Almost all of Lex's crew being made up of disgraced nerds that he refused to listen to was very fitting
The random middle-aged dude who didn't immediately judge Superman from the "evil alien" headlines and let him watch the news from his phone was sweet :)
The Justice Gang's base being in a half-decorated lobby (likely a building Maxwell bought for them) is perfect
It looked like Lex wanted to name his half of Jarhanpur "Luthorania"??? So stupid and so him 😭
Also while his type isn't "tall, dark and martian" (yeah right) he does seem to be interested in "dumb blondes", which makes it all the funnier that the woman he mistreated helped to orchestrate his downfall; love you Eve <3
The Kents telling Lois how lovely it was to meet her when she arrived on their farm (even with Clark barely conscious) was so cute 🥹
Mister Terrific looked absolutely appalled when the technician asked him if he knew how to stop the rift from opening 😭 like girl do your job???
Lex seemingly showed some genuine care(?) for Angela just before she hit the ground with Supes, yelling at her to disengage since she didn't have any protection. A really small "blink-or-you'll-miss-it" moment of humanity from him.
Maxwell Lord immediately taking advantage of the situation in Jarhanpur, claiming that he's always hated Lex when his corporate superheroes definitely fought against Boravia without his permission
Jimmy smiling after Eve almost tackles him in a hug fully proves why women are so obsessed with him: he's a sweetheart through and through <3
The implication that Perry/Jimmy know Lois is dating Superman but has nothing going on with Clark is hilarious
Malik (falafel vendor) is named as the "Hero of Metropolis" on the front cover of The Daily Planet 🥹 I couldn't tell if Clark was the one who wrote the article, but regardless, it's beautiful that he made sure the man's story was told.

hiiiiii if you're doing the wip wednesday type deal may i request a snippet of dad! seth? saw ur concept post a while back and i'm sooo curious to see where you take it :P
hello darling yes you may <3
This is far from the hospital he woke up in, and he’s not here for himself either, this time, but it sure does feel like wading through the coma all over again. Around him, everything feels warped. Like he could walk straight into a wall at any moment, or fall through the linoleum if he doesn’t follow exactly in the footsteps of the social worker ahead of him. The air in front of his eyes is hazy and blindingly clear at the same damn time. Too crisp and sharp at a certain angle, then distorted and blurry a blink later. And the smell… He can almost taste the plastic tube at the back of his throat, the vivid memory brought back by the disgusting amount of antiseptic he’s inhaling. He can’t stop gulping in breaths, though. Probably because he’s on the verge of hightailing it out of here, panic as the only energy coursing through his veins.
Somewhere within these walls, at the end of hundreds of hallways, far, far from home, there is a child waiting for him. An honest-to-God baby. And it’s his. Apparently. Legally.
What the fuck.
Who isn’t waiting for him is his sister. Jessa’s gone. Nothing to do about that now. But Seth is still convinced the only right way of doing this is by pleading insanity on behalf of his sister and getting that baby the fuck away from him. It wouldn’t be hard. Look at Jessa’s autopsy report, look at her car. Take a look at him. Nobody in their right mind would leave their kid in his care. What the hell was Jessa thinking?
The world has a way of flipping everything upside down the minute you begin to settle, though. It happens when they round the corner; when the hallway becomes quieter, almost silent; when the social worker knocks on a door left ajar and opens the way for him; when a voluptuous nurse in purple scrubs turns at the noise, holding a tiny little thing, and Seth is hit square in the chest by a shotgun.
At least, that’s what it feels like.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Perfect Sandwich Wrap for Your Meals
Tumblr media
When it comes to quick, delicious, and convenient meals, nothing beats a well-made wrap. Whether you're packing lunch for work, preparing a picnic, or just craving something tasty without the fuss of utensils, a wrap is an ideal choice. Over the years, I’ve found that the key to an enjoyable wrap starts with the right sandwich wrap. It may sound simple, but the wrap itself can make or break the entire meal experience.
Why the Right Sandwich Wrap Matters
You might think that all wraps are created equal, but that’s far from the truth. The wrap serves as both the base and the vessel for all your fillings — from fresh veggies and deli meats to creamy spreads and cheeses. A good wrap holds everything together without tearing, complements the flavors, and even adds its own subtle taste.
For me, choosing a wrap is about balancing texture, flavor, and nutrition. Some wraps are soft and pliable, perfect for gentle fillings, while others have a hearty, chewy bite that adds more substance to the meal. Also, dietary preferences like gluten-free or whole grain options have become more important in recent years.
Types of Sandwich Wraps to Consider
Here are some popular types I like to use, depending on the occasion:
Flour Tortilla Wraps: The classic choice—soft, easy to roll, and mild in flavor. They work great with almost any filling, from grilled chicken to falafel.
Whole Wheat Wraps: A healthier option that adds fiber and a nuttier flavor. Perfect if you want something more filling and nutritious.
Spinach or Tomato Wraps: These colorful wraps add a subtle vegetable flavor and an appealing look to your meal.
Lettuce Wraps: For a low-carb and fresh alternative, crisp lettuce leaves can hold your sandwich fillings well and add crunch.
Gluten-Free Wraps: Ideal if you have gluten sensitivity, made from rice flour, almond flour, or other alternatives.
How to Make Your Sandwich Wrap Delicious and Mess-Free
One of the biggest challenges with wraps is keeping them intact and preventing leaks. Here’s what I’ve learned that works best:
Use spreads like hummus, cream cheese, or avocado as a moisture barrier. These help keep wet ingredients from soaking through the wrap.
Avoid overly juicy veggies or drain them well before adding.
Layer ingredients thoughtfully—start with greens, then proteins, followed by cheeses and sauces.
Roll tightly but gently, and consider wrapping it in parchment paper or foil if you’re packing it to-go.
Easy and Tasty Sandwich Wrap Ideas
Sometimes inspiration strikes when you have simple ingredients on hand. Here are a few of my favorite combos:
Grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce, and a drizzle of ranch dressing.
Turkey, Swiss cheese, spinach, and honey mustard.
Roasted vegetables, goat cheese, and pesto.
Tuna salad with celery and light mayo, plus crisp lettuce.
The versatility of a wrap means you can easily customize it to suit your taste or what you have in the fridge.
Why I Recommend Investing in Quality Sandwich Wraps
From my experience, using a high-quality sandwich wrap not only improves the taste but also saves you frustration during meal prep. Cheap or low-quality wraps tend to tear, crumble, or become soggy quickly. That’s why I always make sure to stock up on trusted wraps that deliver consistency every time.
If you want to explore reliable options, I recommend checking out this selection of eco-friendly and durable sandwich wrap products that make packing lunch or snacks easier and more sustainable.
Final Thoughts
Sandwich wraps are a simple yet fantastic meal solution that suits busy lifestyles and food lovers alike. The perfect wrap enhances your ingredients, keeps everything tidy, and makes eating on the go a pleasure. Whether you’re a fan of classic tortillas or adventurous with flavored wraps, focusing on quality and proper preparation will elevate your meals.
So next time you prepare lunch or pack a snack, pay attention to the wrap—it’s more important than you might think!

so, time for some consideration: I have been in Palestine for almost two months, now, and it has not been easy. Well, sure, I am in the West Bank, not in Gaza: the shocking destruction that can be seen in the Strip is far away here. Yet the shootings, the checkpoints, the daily abuse and violence are clearly visible. They can be seen in the burnt olive trees and destroyed houses, in the continuous military presence, in the helicopters and in the shootings that can be heard every night. And above all in the now usual warning message: "given the ongoing riots, movements are blocked until further notice". Which for us means staying indoors, without being able to get to the clinics or even to the office, wondering how many dead, how many injured and how many destroyed houses and burnt olive trees there will be in the next bulletin. "tomorrow the funerals of the boys/children/women/elderly people killed yesterday will be held: movements are frozen until further notice". And so it goes.. Yesterday, strangely, the situation was calm. For the first time in two months I managed to take a tour of the Old City of Nablus. The souks of the Arab cities are always something magical, with those tiny shops overflowing with goods and products. Nablus is famous for the production of olive oil soaps and excellent spiced sweets. I stocked up on a good supply of them, along with many types of spices, and 5 packs of very sweet rose incense. In addition to a good supply of freshly fried falafel. I couldn't eat them right away, yesterday was the first day of Ramadan and eating on the street would have been really unkind. Today was also a calm day. Tomorrow, we'll see….

Day 117 december 12 thursday, 22:30
Do I missed two days again, I’m currently forcing myself to write these lines. Today was so great, I must tell you about this.
So this wednesday was kind of okay, as I remember it. I missed kultur, since the others had seminarie, so I only had english, history and photo. Stina was sick so I had to to photo alone, I didn’t even do anything since I didn’t have pictures to work with. The task was to edit them, but Stina never sent them to me unfortunately. Today was also okay, first we discussed the last part of Mornings in Jenin. I was grouped with Fiona, Jon and Ludwig. Ludwig was so smart, I loved his ideas, I feel so dumb compared to him sometimes. Also, to my surprise Fiona was interested about how people celebrate Christmas in Hungary, it is very unlike her to engage in any kind of conversation or do anything with me, so I felt very good about it. She’s still not my type of person, we certainly won’t be friends, but it’s nice that we managed to break the wall between us. The only one in the class who doesn’t say shit to me and ignores me on purpose is Thea R. She’s very bitchy, almost certainly on purpose. Nata says she’s jealous, which I didn’t even think about at first, but she might be right. Anyway, the best part about today was the fact that me and Nemo managed to quit the project with Fred and Alfred and we moved to Amanda’s and Philippa’s group. We were on the same level the whole time, we made so much progress, we sre almost ready. Our presentation will be about the death penalty in religions. It was so fun to resarch this, Nemo was also very engaged even though he doesn’t like any type of schoolwork. He also mentioned to me that he loved working with them. I feel the same way.
During lunch, me Iman, Rio and Hailey discussed sexuality. A couple of days ago I would not believe what I experienced today, since I always thought Rio and Hailey were so immature about this topic, since they’re both hypersecual and make rape jokes often. But it was such a mature conversation, I loved that we had it in public and felt no shame about it. I told them that it’s not common in Hungary to sleep around and that I think it’s a good thing, and to my surprise they agreed. They told me it’s crazy to sleep with someone you don’t know or trust, you don know what they’re gonna do or who you really are. I love that I found people with somehow similar values in a place where I least expected it. Iman is such a mature woman. She’s full of wisdom and she doesn’t even know t yet. Most of her values come from her religion, but she’s so wise beyond her years and has great opinions on relationships and sexuality. I love hearing her talk about islam and how she practises it. Her parents raised here extremely well, I hope I get to meet them one day.
Later today me Elsa, Nata and Tea went bowling. Before that, Nata, Elsa and me went to Kungsgrillen and had dinner. It was very good, I had falafel. I also met Islam and his friends, so that was very nice. The bowling was amazing too, I think I came third or something. Tea is another girl from the village I’ve never met before. She was absolutely amazing, so open and kind, a very cheerful person. It was so nice to be around her, I’ve never met a swede like her before, a huge surprise she is!
Today was my favourite day in a long time. I don’t wanna jinx it, but I feel like this is where it gets better, although I’m sure there will be ups and downs, but this is a great way to start!
Tomorrow we’ll have Lucia at school, I plan on going home afterwards if I won’t get to be with friends, but we’ll see
Song for today: Estraden - bra för dig

Shouk
After a long hot Sunday of coaching young kids football I traveled to Georgetown to try another vegan spot, this time alone as my girlfriend had gone back to school. I had been doing some research as I found a new plant based restaurant called Shouk.
I walked down the busy streets of Georgetown looking for the sign until I saw a bright orange sign that read SHOUK. The front of the restaurant was all glass with the door wide open making it appear more spacious and seating set up outside as well.
I walked up to the self ordering kiosk not sure what I was getting myself into or the type of food they offered. The middle eastern style food place offered bowls and pita bread wraps with a variety of options. After a quick google search I found their most popular items were the Shawarma and the Shouk burger, so I went with the shawarma. I got my meal soon after and sat outside to enjoy the warm weather with my food.
The wrap was still warm as I took my first bite of something new. As the pieces hit my tongue I was flooded with intense new flavors. The chewy soft texture of the juicy grilled oyster mushrooms was salty, savory and almost bitter as it was the flavor that stood out the most. The cucumbers tasted as though they had been doused in vinegar, and the cabbage, onions and arugula gave it a smooth but crunchy texture that did not distract from the main contents of the wrap. Then the cream tahini dressing that was new to me and was surprisingly rich and creamy. The Tahini made up for the rest of the flavor as it was somewhat spicy and zingy. All this stuffed in soft warm pita bread was mouthwatering.

almost burned my falafel trying to figure out how to add a shortcut for ² so i could start referring to buck and bucky as buck(y)² and not even really worth it because in that notation im squaring the y not the buck. but if i go y(buck)² that looks like im inserting another variable/person into their relationship at which point i might as well just type out curt. buck² + y ?? no thats weird

Cheap Vegan Essentials
With everything going on right now, I thought may be useful to repost an edited version of my list of cheap vegan groceries. Most of this is standard stuff but if you’re used to ready meals and faux meats but you can’t get them with the panic buying, this post may prove helpful to you. A lot of these have a really long shelf life as well, so they will be useful if you end up isolating. You may struggle to find some of these items with people clearing the shelves, but it will hopefully help to know what to keep a look out for. Just please avoid stockpiling. It is sensible to have these items in your cupboard but you should only buy what you need.
Rice: Rice is an extremely cheap and filling staple. A cup of rice contains roughly 45 grams of carbohydrates and 4-5 grams of protein. In an airtight container it lasts at least 6 months.
Beans: Beans are one of the most accessible protein sources and have been a staple around the world for thousands of years. Just one cup of soybeans, for example, contains a massive 28.62 grams of protein, while even standard baked beans contain around 14 grams. They also contain lysine, which is missing from most other plant sources.
Chickpeas: Chickpeas can be purchased very cheaply canned, and in large bags in bulk if you’re willing to prep them yourself. Each cup contains about 15 grams of protein, tonnes of fibre as well as magnesium and folate.
Lentils: Similar to chickpeas, lentils can be bought canned or in large bags. A cup of cooked lentils contains a massive 18 grams of protein, they also lower cholesterol, improve heart health and help stabilise blood sugar.
Oats: Oats are very cheap, can be bought in bulk and have great shelf life. They are high in protein, fibre, and B12; they are even thought to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
Cereals: Most cereals, especially supermarket’s own brand products are very cheap. Whole grain cereals like bran or oat based products are high in fiber, calcium and iron, and most are fortified with B vitamins.
Pasta: Pasta is another great product to always have on hand, it is one of the least expensive items in any supermarket, can be bought in bulk and has a very long shelf life. Depending on the type, pasta can be a good source of fibre and carbohydrates; it is a high energy food and is very filling.
Potatoes: Potatoes are one of the cheapest foods available in most supermarkets, at an average of just $0.56 per pound. They are versatile, filling and despite their reputation as unhealthy, they are an excellent source B6 and a good source of potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus, niacin, dietary fiber, and pantothenic acid.
Sweet potatoes: Sweet potatoes are as versatile as white potatoes, are high in vitamins B6, C, D, iron, magnesium and potassium. They’re also a more balanced source of energy than white potatoes, as their natural sugars release slowly, avoiding blood-sugar spikes.
Noodles: Many varieties of noodles are vegan, they are very cheap and last a long time. Noodles are very filling and contain high levels of B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium, iron, riboflavin, and calcium.
Nut butters: Depending on the type, nut butters can be purchased very cheaply. It has a surprisingly good shelf life, is an excellent source of heart healthy fats and is very high in protein.
Falafel: Falafel is usually cheap to buy pre-made but it is even cheaper when made at home just using chickpeas and spices. It is filling, can be used to make great vegan burgers and is a good source of protein, fat and soluble fibre.
Hummus: Though buying pre-prepared hummus is usually relatively cheap, it is far more cost effective to make your own in larger quantities, depending on the recipe you usually only need chickpeas, tahini and lemon.
Couscous: Couscous can be great in salad or as its own side dish, it is cheap to buy and is a convenient option since it is so easy to prepare. It is a good source of lean protein, dietary fibre and B vitamins.
Tofu: Tofu has an odd reputation for being expensive, quite probably among people who have never bought it. Tofu has been a Chinese staple for thousands of years, it is now widely available in supermarkets and is far cheaper than comparable animal products, averaging less than $2 per pound. It is filling and is high in both protein and calcium. If you find it expensive in your local supermarket, try a Chinese market or world foods store. It will keep for months if you freeze it.
Tempeh: Tempeh is similar to tofu in price and use, but has a different texture and slightly different nutritional properties. The fermentation process and its retention of the whole bean give it a higher content of protein, dietary fibre and vitamins compared to tofu, as well as firmer texture and a stronger flavour.
Seitan: Seitan is made with wheat gluten and is extremely high in protein, as well as being one of the cheapest sources of protein per dollar when made at home and is around the same price as low quality beef in stores. It has a steaky texture and is very filling.
Frozen fruit/vegetables: Large bags of mixed frozen vegetables can be bought extremely cheaply almost anywhere. Despite popular opinion to the contrary, frozen vegetables are almost as healthy as fresh produce since they are frozen while fresh and don’t endure the loss of nutrients associated with long travel and extended shelf time. Frozen fruit like mixed berries can be a cheap way to prepare smoothies or dessert.
Canned fruit/vegetables: Having a few cans of fruit or vegetables around is always a good idea, things like canned tomatoes or corn can be a side on their own, canned peaches or orange pieces are an instant dessert and canned tomatoes can be used to make sauces.
Bananas: Bananas are one of the cheapest fruits available and deserve a mention based on their nutritional value and their versatility. They can be used in desserts, as a healthy snack and can be used to make cheap vegan ice cream.
Citrus Fruits: Citrus fruits like lemon, orange and limes are cheap to buy in bunches, especially when in season and can be eaten as a healthy snack or used as a cheap way to add flavour to existing dishes.
Vegetable stock: Vegetable stock is good to have around for a variety of purposes; it will add flavour to any dish from gravies to soups and roast dinners. It is extremely cheap and relatively healthy if you go for a low sodium option. It is even cheaper if you make it yourself from leftovers or trimmings.
Olives: Olives are a healthy source of fat, they are thought to have anti-inflammatory properties and contribute to good health health, as well as being good sources of iron. They can be bought in large jars very cheaply and can be a healthy snack.
Olive Oil: Thought to be the healthiest oil to cook with, it is heart healthy and can be used to add flavour to a variety of dishes like pastas and salad.
Spinach: Spinach is often called a super-food in terms of nutritional content, it is is high in niacin and zinc, as well as protein, fiber, calcium, iron and a multitude of vitamins. You can also buy large bags of pre-prepared spinach very cheaply.
Kale: It has a different flavour and texture to spinach, but has similar uses. It is a great source of dietary fibre and is packed with nutrients, vitamins, folate and magnesium. Even a 500g bag should only set you back around $2.50.
Bread: Many new vegans assume bread is off limits, but many breads are vegan. Even speciality loafs are very cheap considering the amount of meals they can contribute towards, and they can be a good source of carbohydrates and protein. It will keep for 3-6 months if you freeze it.
Plant Milks: Plant milks have an undeserved reputation for being expensive, this is only in comparison to heavily subsidised dairy milks, though even then the price is comparable, in fact, some supermarket’s own brands are even cheaper. Plant milks are packed with calcium and are usually supplemented with vitamins B6 and B12.
Non-Dairy Spreads: Non-dairy spreads can be made form a variety of sources, from soy or olives to coconut oil. They tend to be comparable to dairy butter in terms of calcium, but without the unhealthy fats and cholesterol. They are usually priced similarly or cheaper than their dairy counterparts.
Peppers: Peppers tend to be very cheap to pick up in large bags, particularly bell peppers. They can be stretched over several meals, and can add flavour and texture to curries, stir fries and salads.
Nutritional Yeast: Seen as something of a speciality health food, nutritional yeast is actually very cheap, lasts a long time and is one of the best sources of vitamin B12. It has a nutty, cheesy taste, so you can use it in place of anything you’d usually sprinkle cheese on. It is also great in soups and when used to make “cheesy”, creamy sauces.
Flax seeds: Each tablespoon of ground flax seed contains about 1.8 grams of omega-3s. It is included in this list as they make a great egg substitute in baking, can be sprinkled on cereal, yogurt or oatmeal. It is cheap to buy, and even a small packet lasts a long time.
Dark chocolate: Dark chocolate is not only far healthier than milk chocolate, it is usually cheaper to buy in the same quantities and is far more filling. It is versatile for use in baking and desserts and is a healthy snack in small quantities.
Selected Produce: Fresh vegetables are not always expensive. Seasonal vegetables are usually cheap in most supermarkets, but some vegetables like carrots, turnips, onions, cabbage and cauliflower are inexpensive all year round, and can often be bought on offer or as “irregular” (but still perfectly edible) for even less.
Herbs and Spices: Having a range of spices on hand is always a good idea; things like cumin and garlic can add depth and flavour to simple meals and they last a very long time. Investing in a good spice rack and some curry powder will save you money in the long term.
Stay safe everyone, and please check in on your vulnerable friends, family members and neighbours. I am always around if you need any advice, resources, accessible recipes or just a bit of a chat to help with the stress. Take care of yourselves and each other.

The Pharaoh & His Princess
Seven |
Ill Father, Stubborn Daughter
The man couldn't help but puke in the bowl.
A burst goosebumps shot from his shoulders, violently making him shiver before he flinged himself back into his bedsheets. He let out a pitiful noise and rubbed his swollen eyes.
His body felt like it was on literal fire.
"Here, this ought to make it better!" Merit Ptah said as she rushed over to Pharaoh. She draped a cold wet towel on his forehead.
"I beg of you Chief Physician, please make it stop. I wish to see my daughter." he groaned.
"It's alright my Pharaoh" she replied. She pushed back his sweaty blonde bangs and moved the towel on his forehead. "The medicine should work soon."
"How soon?" he asked miserably. His body was wrought with aches and shivers. "I feel like I'm in literal fire."
"You're just sick my Pharaoh, not dying. It is just a fever, that's all." Mahad spoke, trying to calm his best friend. Atem shifted his gaze at Mahad and gave him a thankful weak smile.
Mahad had brought in the best doctors in all of Egypt and made them run every test available. It turned out to be food poisoning from undercooked meat.
Plus a fever as well.
Luckily the Pharaoh was still young and in great health, he should make a speedy recovery.
"Just give it a day, my Pharaoh." Mahad said with a small smile.
"Another whole day? I need to get better now!" he groaned.
Chief Physician Merit sighed and draped a cold towel on him once more.
"I know, but you need to get better. Egypt can wait. You cannot. I do not like seeing you so ill."
"I miss Anippe." Atem weakly let out. Mahad couldn't help but smile.
They had been separated for exactly a week now, and it was killing them. They were not meant to be apart for this long, it was pure torture for them and everyone else. But the last thing the Palace wanted was for princess Anippe to get sick as well.
"She misses you, too. She's always asking for you," Mhad replied before Merit added jokingly, "Please get better soon. I fear that if you do not, our beloved crowned princess will destroy the Palace."
Atem let out a weak laugh before his features changed to determination. "Alright. I promise you both, I will get better."
Merit nodded before taking the towels in the bowl of cold water and leaving. Mahad gave Atem a gentle squeeze on his shoulder.
"You rest now. I will return later to check up on you."
"Thank you, Mahad."
--
It was evening when a "Psst!" awoke Atem.
With a groan, he sat up and walked slowly towards his balcony. The curtains separating him and the person out his balcony.
"Hello?" he asked, too tired to demand the guards outside his chamber's doors to seize the intruder
"Papa?" his daughter's voice called from behind the curtains.
"Anippe?" Atem asked, his eyes widening at the thought of his daughter just a few feet away from him.
"Thank Ra you're okay!" his nine-year daughter let out.
"Anipee," Atem began weakly, yet tried to act upset.
"How did you get up here? This balcony is at least fifty feet high from the courtyard."
Anippe was silent which made Atem grow more upset at her.
"Anippe," he began but his daughter cut him off.
"I'm not sorry Papa. I had to see you!"
She let her head down as she whispered "I miss you."
Atem smiled sadly at her small figure on the other side of the curtain.
"I miss you too, my princess." Atem replied with a tender smile on his face. He had missed his daughter so much that just hearing her beautiful voice made him feel one hundred times better.
"I'm coming in!" Anippe stated suddenly. Atem saw her shadow reach out to grab the curtain separating the. As much as he wished to embrace her, he stayed firm.
"Anippe, no! You'll get sick too!"
"I don't care," she said resolutely. "We can be sick together."
He frowned and shook his head. "No dear. You have to stay healthy."
"Well I don't!" she shot back.
She huffed and crossed her arms.
"I just want to see you Papa."
At that moment, Atem was tempted to yank the curtains separating him and his daughter, just so he could grant her request, but then he remembered how awful he had felt these past few days.
His daughter was everything to him. He had to protect her at all costs. He would never forgive himself if he caused her to be in pain.
"I'm sorry my love, but you can't come in. I promise you, I'll get better soon" he assured her.
"When I do, we can play together again. You just need to be a bit more patient." Atem added as he saw her shoulders slouch.
Her head lowered down.
"You promise?" she asked weakly.
"Yes my love," he nodded. "I promise you."
After a minute she stood up firm and let out a defeated sigh.
"Fine Papa."
Atem smiled.
Anippe turned around and retrieved a small bag from her waist.
"I brought you some food."
Atem was surprised. "You didn't eat your lunch?"
Anippe shrugged. "I'm not very hungry. Besides, it's your favorite today."
"Ta'amiya?" Atem eagerly asked as if his love for his daughter could not have grown even more.
"No, it's batarekh." she replied without emotion.
Atem froze at the name.
Before he could react Anippe burst out laughing.
"Of course it's not! They're ta'amiyas Papa!" she giggled.
"Anippe," Atem let out, setting a hand above his heart.
"Don't scare me like that again." he scowled jokingly as his daughter continued to laugh.
She placed the wrapped food on the ground before standing up and pointing, "It's right here, Papa. They are still somewhat warm. Please eat them and get better, okay?"
A big grin blossomed on the Atem's features. "Very well my love. I love you."
"I love you, too. Bye Papa!" Anippe replied before she made her way to the edge of the balcony and disappeared.
When he was sure she had left, due to the yelling of Mahad down below, he stepped out of the curtains and grabbed the delicious wrapped meal.
Atem noticed a pendant was holding the handkerchief from unfolding. Taking it off, Atem brought it closer to his face and smiled at the realization.
This was the same pendant he had given her when she was sick of the cold back when she was five years of summer.
The pendant was a figure of a cat, symbolizing the goddess Bastet.
Protector of children and homes from diseases.
--
Extra Scene:
"Why you ought to be ashamed of yourself Anippe! Fifty feet high? You've gone too far young lady!" Mahad scowled at the princess as she gave him an emotionless look.
"By the end of tomorrow, I want one hundred parchment scrolls saying "I promise to never disobey Master Mahad again." Do I make myself clear?" Mahad affirmed, crossing his arms.
"Yes Master Mahad." Anippe replied.
With a final nod, he confiscated her rope and began to walk away. Anippe looked down at her shoes.
"Oh and Anippe,"
The princess looked up to see Mahad's back on her.
"Next time, use the secret ladder in the west side of your father's chamber. His chamber has another balcony there. It's just deeply hidden."
Anippe didn't say anything. She let Mahad walk away, before her face broke into a huge smile.

According to Kazuki Takashi (the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh), Atem's favorite food is Ta'amiya while his least favorite one is Batarekh.
"Another type of bean identified from ancient sources is ful nabed, a pale variety of the common broad bean (Vicia faba). Pharaonic cooks almost certainly invented ta'amia or falafel, fried rissoles made from mashed beans, onions, garlic, and spices. Coptic Christians consume large quantities of falafel during Lent. The Copts are said to be descended from the ancient Egyptians and many of their traditions are so old that their origins may well lie in Dynastic times." - Hilary Wilson on ta'amiya in her book, Egyptian Food and Drink.
"Fish were also salted or pickled in oil and, in later times, great quantities of preserved first were exported from Egypt. In some scenes of fish preparation, removal of the roes is shown. The dried and salted roe of the grey mullet, known as batarekh, is considered a great delicacy in modern Egypt and is reputed to be a recipe as old as the pharaohs." - Hilary Wilson on batarekh in her book, Egyptian Food and Drink.

Hi hru ^^
Tumblr media
Heyy mah babie<<333 I genuinely miss you guys and I meant to answer this yesterday but things didn’t go as planned cause I had been basically immobile and puking my ass off for several hours due to my menstrual.
Did that stop me from being that bitch though? Hell no. So I’m gonna be highlighting all the amazing shit that went on yesterday.
GUESS WHOS ALMOST FULLY VACCINATED AND FINISHED HER SECOND DOSE YESTERDAY!!! AAHHHH ME ME ME MEMEMEME ME 😝✌️ My mother, my older brother and I had went to this mall, which was relatively empty, that was getting repaired over the panini so we decided to explore and ba-BIIIEE- it was fucking HEAVEN. Not only was there this beautiful ass book store with all types of floors and levels that pertained to my dark academia needs, downstairs was the most PRETTIEST and DIVERSE food court I’ve EVER BEEN TO. They had poke bowls, bibimbap, bento, ramen bowls, mochi, crepes, boba tea, Pad Thai, falafel and so much more made from S C R A T C H in front of your face. And Guess what I got, guess what I got…. SOME MOTHERFUCKING PEYOUNG YAKISOBA I-
Even though I had been pretty much sick the whole day for 11 hours, I had made custom phone cases that came in the mail y’all. I literally had to stop suffering to get up and explain to my mom why these were so important to me that I almost started to cry. The one with black star is basically of the cover to the FIRST EVER manga (aka Vol 18 of Soul Eater) that I owned. One of my most favorites too since it was the start of the fight begin Kid and BlackStar and it’s just 🤌🏽 ✨E M A C U L A T E✨. The second is just a compilation of all my favorite manga panels from Tokyo Revengers and I’m in love especially since I did the editing for both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imma take the high rode today & make it even better than the last and think of all the amazing shit that happened cause why not? I was a lil upset cause I was planning on releasing a surprise that I had planning for you guys out today but that will just have to wait. Thank you soooo much for asking and I’m curious to know how you’ve been doing so far? What did you do or get into yesterday?

SYRIA WHERE: Layalina Restaurant (5216 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22205) This restaurant, Layalina, was absolutely gorgeous! From the beautiful artwork to hanging curtains to the plush cushioned couches, I was in awe and could totally understand from the my first steps in the building why it was Zagat rated as one of the best restaurants in Arlington. The food was great, but moreover, I would LOVE for these people to design my next living room! I chose a Syrian restaurant on my Aladdin adventure because as National Geographic put it, "In 1712, French scholar Antoine Galland translated an Arabic version of the [The Arabian Nights] into French. Galland added several new stories told to him by a Syrian named Ḥanna Diyab from Aleppo, 'Aladdin and the Magical Lamp' was one of them." So it was rather fitting. First I tried Syria's National Dish, a "fried ground beef shells combined with bulgur, stuffed with a mixture of sauteed minced meat and onions" called kibbeh. It was a lot like a falafel. I also had a drink they called Jallab, which is a type of fruit syrup drink popular in the Middle East made from carob, dates, grape molasses and rose water. OMG. It tastes like Gulab Juman juice! When I ate at the Nepali restaurant a few weeks ago, I thought the syrup that the Nepali/Indian Gulab Juman was served in was delicious but I wasn't sure if it was healthy to drink it straight (didn't stop me from trying though), but Jallab kind of takes that concept and waters it down so it almost doesn't taste like straight diabetes. So yummy! So very yummy! I also had their Kafta Bil Jawz, which I cannot find any information on with a google search but their menu had this to say, "Our ancient Syrian recipe. Delicious lean beef with a hint of lamb to give it a kick of Middle Eastern flavor, mixed with onions, red pepper, walnuts, bulgur, herbs with a hint of spiciness, grilled and served with a special salad and pomegranate dressing." I'm not sure about the 'ancient recipe' thing since it seems they're the only people who know of it's existence, but it was pretty good. It was like a sweet and spicy meatball (more fried meatball type things in my mouth, lol). And sooooooo much naan bread. I tried to get a take out box and bring it to the movies with me but the ushers there said I couldn't bring in outside food. In order to not miss the movie, which was already starting the previews by the time I got there, I had to toss the last of the Kafta Bil Jawz and naan bread-- which made me so sad. I can't explain, because this was amazing food. A-MAZE-ING!

Tumblr media
It’s been 2 weeks since you’ve landed in L.A, and so far it’s been great. You explored the city with Soo Yun and her family, specifically loving the Architectural tours as Soo Yun’s father is an Architect himself. Visiting the Getty Center and Museum was your peak. Its view overlooking the whole of Los Angeles relieved some of your burdens, relieving your guilt in leaving your life in Korea. You also visited the LACMA, The Broad, and the Hollywood Bowl, such Architectural porn that you haven’t seen before.
Sleepovers were also your and Soo Yun’s thing back then and you’re doing it all now again. Watching horror movies in bed while wearing matching pajamas with hot popcorn, ice cream, and cola between your legs. You both particularly liked slasher films over anything else and you think that the Final Destination series are *chef’s kiss*.
In the middle of Final Destination 3, Soo Yun casually slid if you'll ever meet with Jimin again. Though you highly doubt it’s you and Jimin she’s thinking about. She kind of developed a crush on Jin, I couldn’t blame her of course. You were as captivated just by hearing his voice on the phone, but seeing him was entirely different. From his height to his broad shoulders Soo Yun fell deep. He’s just not your type though.
After your last encounter, you told her everything. From having no real friends ever since she left, that issue you had in school which forced you to quit and leave Korea, your uncertain relationship with Jae, and your falling apart with your parents to that wonderful time with Jimin at the plane and to the bag mix-up. And these 2 weeks were nothing but great because of your friend’s support, you got one by your side and that’s enough for you.
“Did you know about their upcoming showcase? I heard they’re free.” She asked while chomping on popcorn not leaving her eyes on the screen. “How did you even know about that?” surprised that she’s more updated than you. Though you have no obligation to keep up with their schedule. “I have a friend at school who knows them. I even bragged about meeting 3 of their members” her grin almost reaching her ears for being so pleased with herself. “I’m surprised at Jimin for not getting your phone number from Jin, some guys will go for it even if you told them not too, you know?” she paused the movie to get more popcorn downstairs.
But some other guys are not Jimin, you thought as you leaned back to your pillow to stare at the ceiling. And duh what he did is nothing to be proud of, it's like the threshold for basic manners. But what do I know, I have been in a relationship for a year now and I don’t even know if this is what relationships should look and feel like. I know that I shouldn't base and compare my relationship to movies or any Nicholas Sparks’ books, but why do I feel like it’s much closer to Stephen King’s works.
“Jae would like to video chat with you” your phone vibrates. Speaking of the devil. You answer and immediately see him with eyes focused on the screen probably playing Diablo or God of War. “Hi babe, what’s up, where are you?” he said.
Where are you? What the fuck, you’ve been in L.A for 2 weeks and he asks where are you?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
“Babe, I'm in L.A remember. Soo Yun and I are watching movies. And it’s like 3 pm there, why aren’t you in school?” you calmly said clenching your jaw, checking the time on your phone. 10:23 pm. “Uh, okay mom. I didn’t feel like going, I feel like I might follow your step and quit school this time.” he snickers. He knows you don’t enjoy bringing up that topic, but what did you expect? “Kidding babe, lighten up. I called because I miss you, I miss your cooking, I miss cuddling, and I miss you between my --" you stop him as Soo Yun enters the room again.
"Hey, it's Soo Yun, Soo Yun's here Jae, say hi!" Panicky facing your phone in front of her. "Hi Jae, still a dick to y/n?" she said without even looking at your phone. You look at her not believing she said that rolling her eyes at you in return. "Hi Soo Yun, and no, if there's an award for best boyfriend, I’m winning that effortlessly."
"Babe we're going to finish the movie and head out early tomorrow for a tour, I’ll call you tomorrow. I love -- " ignoring Soo Yun's death stare at you to hang up the phone now.  "Mmkay, bye" he overlapped then hung up.
"Romantic." Soo Yun sarcastically said, rolling her eyes then clicks play on the remote. You sink in your place sighing, placing a pillow on your face.
Tumblr media
10 a.m and you're ready for the last stop of your tour before starting to look for work. You admire yourself in the mirror, liking what Soo Yun picked for you to wear today. A yellow sundress to go with your white air force 1's, accessorizing it with your gold necklace with your initials, small gold hoops, and sunglasses. You wear your mid-length hair down, but you have a scrunchy in your wrist if it starts to bother you.
Your last stop for today is the Hollywood sign and the Walk of fame before heading to lunch then movies afterward. You hopped in the car and set-up the GPS to the Hollywood Sign while waiting for Soo Yun and his dad to drop you two off. Feeling giddy as road trips were always your stress reliever.
As you reach your destination, you close your eyes feeling the warmth of the sun wrapping around your skin, the sun shining brightly. Being the city girl that you were, you don’t mind the busy street, the hustle of people rushing off for work or running errands, people on the phone strutting while handling coffee carefully, these things puts you at ease. You smiled subconsciously at the busy scene, it makes you feel like you’re not alone. No dark clouds hanging over your head. After you took pictures in the Hollywood sign, Soo Yun appealed to go to your next destination. Of course, she wasn’t as excited as you. She’s been seeing all this for years now.
You went inside the car humming, excited as you're a sucker for street performances, which are very well known in L.A. Nearing the Walk of Fame, traffic became apparent, so you Soo Yun’s dad decided to drop you both off. Soo Yun left you to meet some friends, but it was okay because you’re looking for some alone time too.
You were like a child whose first time visiting Disneyland, meandering eyes everywhere, tasting every street food available, from pretzels to hotdogs to falafels. Once full, you started taking photos of everything in sight, and when I tell you everything, it’s EVERYTHING. From street performers to passing cars, to the fucking stars of each artist you knew. You especially love Cate Blanchett’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Classic actresses like Marilyn Monroe, Aubrey Hepburn, your romance movie idols. You take pictures of your favorite singers this time until THWACK you stupidly slammed yourself and fall on the floor butt first, putting your bare thighs on display and your dress through your midsection exposing your white lace panties for all tourists, street performers, and Californians to see.
Thankfully and Instantly, someone threw their jacket over your thighs and handed their hand with their head turned around. “Jimin?” you asked hazily. You don’t know if you bumped your head too much and you’re hallucinating Jimin now. “Ow!!!!! That fucking hurt” you squinted on your side and see Taehyung bent over his knees holding his forehead with both hands. You don’t know which is more embarrassing, Californians and tourists seeing your undergarment, creating a commotion to hundreds of people, or Jimin seeing your panties.
Why are you even alive, contemplating, you quickly used Jimin’s hand to lift yourself, brushed the dust off of your dress, and rushed to see Taehyung. “Tae, I’m so sorry. Are you okay?” Ready to cuss with his tiny fists raised and widened eyes, he looked at his attacker, “Yah!” he then quickly realizes it’s you, and his facial features immediately softened, still teary-eyed from the pain. “Y/n?” he exclaimed, eyes wide open. ”Hi Tae, nice bumping into you” you try, that's okay. You offered your hand to help him. ”Ha, funny.” he said with a straight face while taking your hand lifting him.
”What are you both doing here anyway?” you asked the both of them taking a peek at Jimin whose ears are still red and not giving you a chance to see his whole flustered face as he still has his back turned away from you giving flyers to passersby.
You don't want to see him too anyway, admit it or not, you missed him. Also in this past week, images of him and you pop at unconventional times of the day. When watching romantic films, taking a bath, especially when you're horny as fuck. Imagining his arms pinning you down while he glides his body on you, his eyes deep within yours, kissing every part of you starting from your lips, to your neck, to your breasts. Him sucking your nipples with those thick luscious lips while his free hand playing the other makes your pussy wet so much that you usually use the showerhead to relieve yourself. You hate yourself most times because of these dirty thoughts, so no, you don't want to see him.
”We're handing out flyers for our concert in 3 days, Tae over here, killing it especially with the ladies.” Jimin finally faced without giving you eye-contact. ”You look pretty, by the way,” he said in a soft voice, almost not wanting you to hear his words, while handing out more flyers to Tae to distribute. ”Thanks, you're both not too bad” You smiled at the both of them eyeing Jimin's perfectly brushed black hair, as usual, plain white tee and grey sweatpants. Taehyung's brown hair was perfectly swept with his red snapback, white tee, and black shorts.
”I'm very irresistible, I know that.” there he goes flashing his smile. You didn't doubt it though, he has this cute innocent face that is very alluring, notably his boxy smile that you would give him anything if he asked. He can easily approach people and get something from them, yet he has this audacity proclaiming he's shy all the time. The three of you laugh as if you know each other for a while now, forgetting the embarrassment you all had earlier.
”Y/n, you're bleeding!” his smile disappeared within seconds when his eyes accidentally roamed through your knees. You probably grazed them when you fell. You see the sudden concern in Jimin's face, but before you can do anything about it or say anything, he suddenly shoved the remaining flyers to Taehyung's chest and in a flash, your arms were wrapped around his neck as he lifted you from your place. You were too stunned to speak as his feet started to scurry. Leaving a shocked Taehyung in the streets. ”Wh-what? Where are we going??” he doesn't answer you, but he looked at you with that pretty smile that you missed so much and said,” I got you, I missed you, y/n.”
Tumblr media
”What the hell, Jimin, your job was to hand flyers to women, not kidnap one!” this guy with skin white as snow and very cute squinty eyes exclaimed as he opened the door of their van for you and Jimin. ”This is y/n, we bumped into her earlier, literally. Y/n this is Yoongi, one of our members and the one who most annoys me recently.” he uttered as he plopped you in the seat behind the drivers and scampered the van for the first aid kit. ”Hi, I'm y/n, sorry for the intrusion” you can see he’s not paying attention to you because his face has confusion written all across his face. He scrunches his eyebrows as if he's remembering something.
Jimin started to tender on your bruise, initially taken aback as he needs to touch your bare legs, you notice that his ears are starting to blush again. Seeing how Jimin is flustered while attending to your leg, laughter bursts in Yoongi's mouth, exposing his cute gummy smile which you first thought was unexpected of his personality. ”You're y/n, the one who broke our Jimin's heart, he won't stop talking about you since last week!” he can't stop laughing as he continues to smack his hand at Jimin's back.
What? Broke his heart?
You can't help but widen your eyes to Yoongi's sudden announcement. Jimin’s mouth dropped as he shoved Yoongi out of the van and closed the door, leaving the two of you in awkward silence. ”Hey!! I'll be going to Taehyung to help him, don't leave the van, okay? Have fun love birds” as he taps at the window goodbye. The car is so quiet you can hear Yoongi strut away.
He started to dab disinfectant to your wound, as soon as he felt your sudden twitch because of the sting, lightly and carefully as possible, he blew on your wound. You stare at him, heart pounding. Thinking about what Yoongi said. Was everything true? That he missed you? Because you want to say you missed him too, that he hasn't left your mind too since then, that you're sorry for leading him on, that you also want to get to know him better, that you don't want anything at all at this moment but to be held and kissed by him. You feel your heart ready to burst out from this overwhelming noise in all this quietness. He slowly lifts his head meeting your gaze. It's as if he heard everything that your heart wanted to tell him. He slowly begins to lean in on you, closer, closer, your eyes admire every aspect of his face as he comes close to yours. His slightly widened eyes, to his flushed cheeks, and his lips. You try to control yourself, but seeing him made you stop thinking and over-analyzing.
You finally close the gap between your lips. He cupped your face, allowing him to slide his tongue to your mouth, as your head automatically tilted to the other side of his face, moaning slightly in his. Your hands slowly wrapped itself to his neck pulling his kiss deeper into you. He slowly roamed his hands from your legs to your thighs, his innocently flushed face looked at you, looking for approval, you closed your eyes and nodded. He began to trail kisses from your cheeks, then your ear, to your neck. Jimin couldn’t stop the moan coming from your lips as he started to pull the strap of your dress away from your shoulder with his teeth then proceeded to kiss your shoulders, using his hands to tug your dress away from your upper body, exposing your black brasserie. You also quickly pulled off his white shirt, leaving you completely blown away by his amazing abs. He laughed at your reaction, placing kisses on your thighs. You felt in your leg that he's already so hard in those pants. As he began to pull your lace panties down, your phone began to ring. You try to ignore it completely as you're too indulged in this moment, but you realize Soo Yun is going to panic if she doesn't reach you. ”Sorry, I have to get this.” he nods, sitting behind you as he sweeps your hair off of your shoulders and gently leaving love bites on it.
”Where are you? I've been looking for you everywhere. I'm with Jeongguk, Jin, and Namjoon right now. I bumped into them while looking for you. They invited me for dinner so we're heading back to their car right now.” Your eyes both widened as the both of you scrambled to get dressed and fix your appearances. ”Uh I'm actually with Jimin, I bumped into him and Tae earlier..” You breathlessly exclaim as you both exit the van roaming your eyes to Jimin's group and Soo Yun. ”Oh okay, we're almost there, we can see you two now!” she hung up the phone. Leaving you two, again, in awkward silence.
”I shouldn't have done that, I'm sorry, y/n ” head looking down. You can see his frustration in his face as he kicks rocks to vent. You felt guilty. You're the one that's sorry. You cheated on Jae and you let Jimin feel bad again. ”No, I'm sorry. As much as it was confusing, I don't regret kissing you. Let’s talk about this later” tugging the end of his shirt and quickly letting go, ending your complicated encounter as Jimin's friends and Soo Yun approached the car.

The Embassy Cafeteria was in one of the basement levels, far below street level. Of all the rooms in the expansive building, it was one of purely utilitarian functionality. It was also designed to act as a shelter in case of an emergency and until recently, it was a no-frills place for Embassy employees and visitors to have a nutritious, if generally tasteless, meal. Whenever Edge ventured down to it, he always took the stairs back up to his office rather than the elevators. Partly because he enjoyed the exercise but also, few others did. While they crowded into the elevators in an attempt to beat the time clock on their lunches, he was in the mostly empty stairwell, listening to his own echoing footsteps. It gave him a moment to gather his thoughts as he climbed. The past two days were both ones of unusual meals. Not the food itself, but from the company. Last night, Blue joined them for dinner. That wasn’t strictly a strange thing, he did come over on occasion. But usually it was in a group with the others; on his own, he was much more likely to meet Stretch for breakfast or lunch, a private meal shared between brothers. Last night had been different in a way Edge couldn’t really explain. Not awkward, exactly, Blue was always a perfectly mannerly guest and he’d stayed afterward to watch the newest Mettaton special with them, exclaiming about the costumes and eagerly adding the songs to his phone playlist. That alone was strange; Stretch had no fondness for Mettaton and yet, he’d sat watching without complaint. Again, not precisely wrong, but he was unusually attentive, and, to Edge’s hearing, Stretch laughed a little too hard, made a few too many jokes, simply tried a little too hard to be even more of himself than usual. There was obviously something going on, but Edge couldn’t guess at what. Stretch hadn’t brought it up after Blue went home and Edge wasn’t about to, not yet. There were strict unspoken rules when it came to interfering with brothers and unless it began to have an ongoing effect on Stretch, he was going to stay out of it. For now. But he couldn’t pretend he wasn’t concerned. Last night when they made love, there was an underlying hint of desperation to it, Stretch pulling him in close, nearly clinging. Stretch hadn’t fallen asleep quickly afterward like he usually did, not that Edge objected to curling up together while Stretch talked softly, listening more to his husky voice than whatever randomness was flitting through his skull. But it was not their normal and with Stretch, it was good policy to pay attention to changes. In any case, Stretch would either come to terms with it or he’d find a way to lie about it better, Edge thought, a little sourly. Of that he had no doubt. Then there was today’s lunch with Antwan and that was a fonder memory. Normally they met at one of the local restaurants despite the daily protestors that still surrounded the Embassy. The group was dwindling, the Humans either tiring of cruel efforts that made no difference or perhaps the incoming cold weather and snow was putting them off. Still, Monsters were discouraged from walking past them after the incident with Janice, which meant Edge was forced to drive to whatever eatery they chose, no matter how close. Today they’d met in the cafeteria instead and Edge didn’t have a single regret. Since they’d hired Hussain away from the Beanery, hastily done before his work visa could expire, the cafeteria menu was greatly improved, both in quality and variety. Including the coffee. Given a choice between watery tuna salad and the delicious falafel that was served today, Edge was perfectly content with the change. Even the room itself was different. The hardback chairs were exchanged for comfortable, cushioned ones and each table was no graced with a cheery little centerpiece. The Monster who Hussain replaced as manager was only relieved about the job switch and the entire Embassy was taking to their new Human coworker with delight. Honestly, Edge suspected if any government agents tried to deport Hussain, they’d be dealing with a building filled with hostile Monsters, and not only because of their addiction to his butter chicken. And so he and Antwan met in the cafeteria instead of a restaurant, Edge calmly eating his kachumber salad while Antwan took the occasional bite from his plate in between babbling about finally having a real conversation with Jeff about their relationship. It was rather endearing to see and Edge idly wondered if he ever seemed this way when he spoke about Stretch. Antwan wasn’t normally so effusive, usually the epitome of cool, collected lawyer. To see him burbling with his happiness, eagerly in love, and obviously needing someone to share it with was charming. Edge was touched that he was the person Antwan chose. He was also more than a little relieved that whatever his brother had been planning to inflict on their Human friends seemed to have turned out for the best. Red was hardly anyone’s vision of Cupid, any arrows he shot would probably be poison-tipped. Whatever he’d done, Edge supposed it worked somehow, and he was even more grateful that he’d kept out, even if he’d had to physically drag Stretch out of the thick of it. Much as he’d shared his husband’s concern for Jeff, in the end it was none of their business. He and Antwan needed to negotiate their relationship troubles on their own, the same as he and Stretch had. But he was glad to be sitting here today, watching Antwan forget to eat as he talked animatedly, his fork waving so wildly he nearly jabbed a passerby. He was almost as passionate as Stretch. Humans couldn’t manifest their souls the same way Monsters did, but Edge almost thought he could see a glow from Antwan, reflecting his joy. An unusual lunch, to be sure, but well worth attending. At the stair landing, Edge paused and pulled out his phone. Thinking of Stretch put him in the mind of his strangeness the night before, and if his husband was feeling down, Edge could at least offer him a moment of brightness. It was the work of seconds to send his husband a text, I thought happiness started with an H. Why does mine start with U? There was always a risk in sending a pun in a text, visual proof for Stretch’s ongoing campaign to show others that Edge truly did have a sense of humor and that what he called Edge’s ‘Batman impression’ was merely a front. But worth it for the burst of emoticons that came in reply, a wild collection of hearts, flowers, and...was that an eggplant? Hastily followed by a carrot and a chili pepper, hm. Edge didn’t ask, only tucked his phone away and pushed open the door out of the stairwell, heading down the hallway. Janice was already back at her desk when he went into the front office, glancing up from her monitors. “Asgore left a message asking for you to meet with him as soon as possible. I already checked your schedule, you’re clear for most of the afternoon.” “Really?” Edge frowned. That was another strangeness in a day filled with unusuals. Normally Asgore preferred to come to his office, it gave him an opportunity to gladhand anyone he passed along the way, bursting with his normal jovial humor. For him to request Edge to come to him was almost unheard of. But then, Asgore often saw Humans in his office, the mayor, heads of state, visiting politicians. It was regularly swept for listening devices by both Red and Alphys, though Edge suspected what they found mostly belonged to each other. That Asgore wished to speak with him where there were no unsuspecting listeners, even his own brother, gave him an equal measure of curiosity and deep concern. “Please let him know I can meet him within twenty minutes,” Edge said. Janice nodded, already typing, and Edge went into his office. That gave him long enough to brace himself for Asgore’s brand of exuberance.
~~*~~
The moment Edge walked into the office, he was struck with a booming, jovial, “Howdy!” The room was big enough to absorb the sound that would have echoed in any other. Asgore’s office was large, designed to comfortably accommodate a Monster who was considerably larger than most. Set in the innermost sector within the Embassy, structured with extra safety enhancements on top of what the Embassy already possessed. It could double as a safe room, protecting against excruciating temperatures in case of fire, solidly reinforced in case of earthquake or possible terror attack. For all the hidden precautions in the room, it was airy with pale yellow walls and large, cushiony furniture built for the comfort of Monsters and Humans alike. Artwork graced the walls to make up for the lack of windows, mostly Aboveground landscapes, and there were several floral arrangements scattered around the room, likely made by Asgore himself. All in all, Edge preferred the crisp organization of his own office, origami and stuffed chickens notwithstanding. And his garden was meant for home and private enjoyment, not for business associates. “Come in, sit, sit,” Asgore gestured to one of the sofas, choosing to sit on the other opposite of Edge rather than remain behind his desk. Once, Asgore would have reached to clasp Edge’s hand for a shake or perhaps offer him a warm pat on the back, and Edge had accepted it stoically from his King. But Asgore noticed whatever faint signs of discomfort Edge couldn’t disguise from those gestures and ceased them without Edge saying a word, keeping his warm greetings to the verbal. That was a marked difference between Underfell and this world. His other King would have continued for as long as he was able to draw a reaction, no matter how minor. Those were memories best left in the past and Edge focused his attention on this Asgore, ignoring any superficial resemblances. “Good afternoon, your Majesty.” Edge settled onto the sofa, sinking into the too-soft cushions. “What can I help you with?” “Ah, I didn’t ask if you’d like a drink, coffee?” Asgore shifted in his seat, his bulk making the springs groan as he started to stand again. “Or simply water, perhaps?” “No, thank you. You asked me to come?” Edge prompted. A fleeting hint of disappointment crossed Asgore’s face and Edge could never quite fathom it. Asgore was well liked by his subjects for both his unending devotion to his people and the warmth of his personality, and Edge also found him to be a formidable leader. Yet, he was always disappointed when Edge was unwilling to engage in smalltalk past Embassy dealings. They weren’t really friends, Asgore was King and Edge was his subject; it wasn’t in him to offer more. The King would have to seek his companionship from others. “I did, I did,” Asgore agreed heartily. “I needed to speak to you about the upcoming diplomatic envoy traveling about the new embassy being set up in California.” Edge frowned. “That’s still a few months away.” “Indeed, it is,” Asgore said. He folded his hands over his middle, leaning back into the sofa. “and they are planning an extended stay for several weeks. However, there are certain details that still need addressed. We’re sending our team down for what will hopefully be no more than a weekend to finish crossing any t’s or dotting any i’s. You’re aware of how important this is. Not all Monsters are suited to this climate. The winters are miserable for those accustomed to Hotland and this new community is critical.” “I’m perfectly aware of that,” Edge swallowed back a touch of impatience. “But why the secrecy, then?” “It’s not strictly a secret,” Asgore temporized, which only made Edge suspect that it very much was. “Any activity by our diplomats is difficult to conceal. But in this case, we’re trying for as much discretion and as few attendees as possible without compromising on security. Which is why I wanted to speak with you. Sans will of course be going, he’s is very firm on staying with Papyrus. But Red will be unable to accompany them. Security is never as simple as a mere guard for them, as you well know, which is why I want you along.” “Me?” “Yes,” Asgore looked distinctly uncomfortable. “As I said, no extraneous attendees, so it would be just you.” “You’re saying without my husband,” Edge said flatly, refusing to dance around as Asgore seemed determined. “I told him the next time we all traveled, he was coming. I promised him.” He had in fact been preparing for them to travel to California with the diplomats. Edge had traveled several times in the envoys, but Stretch had yet to go anywhere outside the outskirts of Ebott. He wasn’t actually an Embassy employee, all his lab work was strictly off the books and in the past, diplomatic negotiations were delicate enough that sightseers weren’t allowed. In this case, all the contracts were already signed, or so he’d thought. Edge was very much looking forward to watching Stretch have the chance to explore a new city, already planning several outings and eager to see the delight flare in his husband’s eye lights. He’d never seen the ocean, never been to an aquarium, all the different restaurants out there for him to enjoy, even the thrift stores. What Asgore was suggesting would not inspire any emotion as sweet as delight. “Ah, but, that’s when you assumed you wouldn’t be leading the security team,” Asgore pointed out, “We both know you’re far too important to be used for simple brute strength. I've been looking into you being allowed to take the bar exam; even without any formal schooling, you've certainly learned enough human law to be able to pass.” He leaned forward, his broad. furry face serious, “I’m aware that Stretch won’t be happy about not being able to come along, but if you did bring him, you wouldn’t be able to spend any time together. He wouldn’t be allowed to attend any of the meetings and you wouldn't be able to focus on your duties knowing that he was alone at the hotel. You know it's true.” He did, that was the frustrating part. For all his kind, fatherly appearance, beneath the fluff, Asgore had a core of steel. He could be ruthlessly effective when it concerned his people, and while Edge could appreciate it as a necessity for a King, he was less fond when it was turned in his direction. “Everyone else has an important function within the group and I am not saying Stretch isn’t important!" Asgore added quickly before Edge could do more than bristle. "I’m saying he’s a scientist, not a diplomat, and even if we were able to get him clearance quickly enough to work security, would you want him to? It’s only for a couple of days, hardly enough time for a vacation. If negotiations go well, we'll be returning in the next couple months, including Red, and then he can go with you." It all made sense, but picturing Stretch’s hurt and disappointment when Edge told him prompted him to ask, “What about Undyne?” Normally she was head of Asgore’s security team, but surely if it was only a weekend-- “Undyne is unavailable,” Asgore said firmly. If Asgore were a different King, Edge would have accepted that. “Unavailable?” He nodded with a certain soft fondness, “Normally I would keep her secrets, but you deserve an explanation. She’s pregnant.” That shook him, more than Edge would readily admit. She and Alphys married only couple months before he and Stretch. To hear they’d be adding a child to their family was unexpected, though perhaps it shouldn’t be. Undyne was very fond of children, just like Stretch...the sting of a yearning ache in his soul made Edge blink hard and he resolutely pushed it away. This wasn’t the time and he wouldn’t begrudge Undyne and Alphys their happiness for the world. Asgore didn’t seem to notice his momentary lapse, going on, “You’ve helped with planning this new Embassy from the beginning, and there is no one I trust more to guard Toriel and Frisk. I need your help with this.” There was only one answer Edge could give. “Of course, your Majesty.” Asgore smiled broadly. “Excellent! The plane is scheduled out for tonight. If you leave now, you should have time to go home and pack.” The ‘and talk to your husband’ was very much unspoken, but still hung in the air between them. Wonderful. It looked like everything was in place. Now he only needed to inform Stretch. That was certain to go well.

Come Together 01
Fandom: Destiny
Pairing: Devrim Kay/Marc
Warnings: ridiculous romancing, eventual smut
“A young city planner set his eyes on an older militiaman. He was unkempt and terribly forward. The militiaman had class. He wasn’t interested.”
“Clearly,” Marc tells their friends. "That’s why they decided to get married.”
(A story told in bits and pieces.)
-/
Every day around half nine, Devrim notices his fellow patrolman giving him a strange look. It’s one of piqued curiosity and amusement. It doesn’t last more than a few moments, but every day he wonders a little more about the reason why.
Finally, after a few weeks of the bizarre treatment, he looks to his squadmate and asks her about it in the most polite way possible.
And, as always when he makes some mildly disgruntled query, the woman laughs. “You haven’t noticed, have you?”
“Noticed what?”
“Tall, dark, and handsome checking you out. Every morning. Same time, same smoldering gaze.”
“Looking at me?”
“Well he certainly wasn’t looking at me,” She spouts amusedly. “He walks from the south elevators to the hall every morning. Look for him tomorrow. You’ll see what I mean.”
Devrim is about 98% sure she’s having a laugh, but to be sporting, he keeps himself angled toward the top of the elevators the next day. He doesn't see the man coming, but he definitely feels the heat of a steady gaze.
The man's eyes are a rather interesting shade of hazel. Both cool brown and vivid green, trained on him. Giving him quite the once over.
When he notices Devrim looking his way, the look of intense scrutiny melts into a devastatingly charismatic smile.
And then, the bastard has the audacity to wink.
Devrim blushes profusely for at least an hour. His partner tells the entire squadron.
This is the first time he sees his future husband.
-/
"Hey, handsome."
Fast forward a few weeks and the man is behind him in line at one of the food vendors in the Tower Bazaar. The insufferable one who has been winking - or, Light take him, waving - as he goes by in the morning. It's all Devrim can do to keep his eyes straight ahead and pretend he has become one with the wall himself.
His squadron has a pool for how long it will last, if the guy will give up, or if Devrim will cave. It's rather annoying that they've all got their money on him giving up and taking the old boy to dinner.
"Can I help you?" He asks, brusquely.
If the militia man's discourteous tone bothers the other, he gives no indication. "I mean, hopefully," He says, his voice a mellow tenor that's surprisingly palatable when it's not dripping with flirtatious salutations. "I could use a partner for lunch."
Devrim frowns. "I'm afraid I have to get back."
"No you don't. Your pack is over at that corner table you sit at every day. You have at least another forty-five minutes."
Mystified - and a bit uncomfortable at clearly being watched - Devrim falls silent. They shuffle to the front of the line.
And just as he's about to order his usual - turkey sandwich, no tomato, the other man speaks over him. "Two of the falafel, please. With that scrumptious aioli on the side."
"Excuse me," He begins, furious, but the man's moved around him, already tapping his ID at the register. He catches a glimpse of the name in the sunlight before the name, "Marcus, but I don't believe-"
"If I'm buying you lunch, you should call me Marc. I hate being called Marcus."
"Well, Marcus, I don't take kindly to someone assuming to know what I'd want," He pushes back, irritated. It sounds childish to his own ears, and his cheeks are already flushing again.
"And what is that, exactly?"
"Well for one, I always get turkey."
"Every day?" Marc looks at him like he's crazy. "Turkey is boring, darling. Try something new. May as well," He grins, taking the two containers from the vendor with a mock salute, "Seeing as I was kind enough to buy you lunch." He gives Devrim another devious wink, thrusting the second container into his hands before sauntering off in the direction he'd come, never actually planning to sit with him at all.
-/
"I'm beginning to think you're stalking me," Devrim says, when he sees the familiar face take the seat next to him at the bar. He's had a few pints with the squad, so he follows that with a slightly more forward, "I'm not sure whether to be flattered or concerned."
"Be flattered. I usually lose interest quickly." Marc waves down the bartender.
"That what you tell every man you pursue?"
Marc holds up his newly received mug in a mock-toast. "Only the ones I think I have a shot with," He answers, brutally honest. "You know, I've bought you lunch," He purses his lips, "I must see you at least once a day in the Tower," He turns toward Devrim with a little shake of his head, "And yet I don't even know your name.”
"For how often I've caught you evaluating my appearance, I think you do." After all, his last name is embroidered on the breast of his fatigues.
"Alright, you caught me," Marc admits, with a dramatic roll of the eyes. "You this stingy all the time? It's like bashing my skull against a brick wall."
Devrim chuckles. "N'aww, not used to being shut down? Poor lad." His piercing gaze cuts like a knife, cast sideways over his drink. "You're not really my type, Marcus."
"Devrim Kay, the eighth," He drawls, just to prove does know the other man's name. "You're a real prick, you know that?"
Devrim throws some glimmer on the counter as he finishes his beer. It's enough to cover both their tabs. He leans in before he goes, as if telling him a secret, "My dear Marc, I think that's why you're so enamored with me."
-/
“Alright,” Marc says that following Monday, as he slides into the booth across from him with a turkey sandwich, no tomato - he’s picked them off and set them aside - topped with some of that aioli he seems to enjoy so much, “I’ll bite. What's your type?”
“Refined,” Devrim answers with a sigh. “More my age. None of this,” He gestures to the almost wavy hair that reaches just past the top of Marc’s shoulders.
“What?” He gestures to his longer hair. “You don’t like this?” His hands flail in a confused gesture. “What’s not to love? I’d let you pull it if you want to.”
Devrim coughs, choking on his lunch. “I beg your pardon!”
“You a prude?”
“Go. Away.”
“Make me,” Marc sasses, shoving the turkey sandwich into his mouth and making an obscene sound over the taste. “I swear, that aioli makes everything better.” He pushes down the flap of Devrim’s container to see half of an order of falafel. Aioli on top. His grin is haughty at best, and positively shit-eating to boot. “Oh good, nice to see you stepping out of your comfort zone.”
Devrim rolls his eyes and pushes the container away from him. “Thank you. You’ve now spoiled my lunch.”
“Oh, cut it out,” Marc quips. “I’m sorry I called you a prude.”
“You are not.”
“No,” He agrees. “You are, if me making a comment that mild upsets you. But, upsetting you wasn’t my intent. Being laid back wasn’t working, so I was trying to be more forward. You’re sure you’re not interested?”
The militiaman tucks back into his meal without a word. He doesn’t ask Marc to leave again, so they eat in relative silence. Afterward, he sighs. “I will allow you one opportunity. After that, you will cease to follow me around like a lovesick puppy dog.”
Marc’s eyebrows shoot up. “Unless you want me following you around like a lovesick puppy dog.”
“I doubt it.”
“Friday night work for you?”
Devrim levels Marc with a cool glance that makes him swallow hard, pupils blown wide. That son of a bitch. He isn’t the one doing the chasing and he knows it. The older man scribbles an address down on an unused napkin, sliding it across the table. “Pick me up at eight.”
-/
This is not the kind of date Devrim had in mind. Honestly, it’s not the first date anyone should have in mind. Had they gone to the Blustery Brew, it would have been better. But no, Marcus said he was taking Devrim to a mixer.
“This is not a bloody mixer,” He growls, evaluating the large dormitory-style space they’re traversing. “This is a frat party. What are you, twenty three?”
“Twenty six, actually,” Marc grins, running a hand through his hair. “Y’see,” He reveals, like it’s some well-kept secret, “I sort of have a thing for older men.”
Devrim rolls his eyes. He’s been doing that an awful lot lately.  Marc navigates through the crowd of people, most of whom greet him with gusto, a hand on Devrim’s wrist to keep him close by. “Clearly. I’m ten years older than you,” Actually, eight and a half, closer to nine but who’s counting, “And this is not my cup of tea, if you will”.
Filling a paper cup with punch from a large jug sitting on a counter, the younger man has the audacity to ignore him, refuting his earlier point, “There’s fraternizing at any party. None of these people are in a fraternity so therefore, it qualifies as a mixer.”
“Cheeky. But this is clearly a party for children. Are all of these people even of age?”
Marc looks around, taking inventory. “Probably? Look, I’m not asking you to play pong, but there’s a good band that starts in an hour, and the balcony has a great view of the City and the Traveler. We’re not far from the Core.”
Devrim relents. “Very well. I told you you got one shot.” Not his fault if Marc chooses to ruin his chances right out of the gate.
“You did,” Marc agrees, handing him some punch. It smells like cheap liquor. Devrim shakes his head, resigning himself to at least having a decent story. “If nothing else, the dreadful locale will highlight my sparkling personality.”
“Right.”
“Let’s go up to the balcony,” Marc gives him a grin that’s almost equal parts cocky as it is apologetic as someone turns a stereo in a room nearby. It’s something synthesized and abrasive to Devrim’s hearing. He adds, “You should stick close. These people aren’t used to me bringing this level of eye candy to a party. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to steal you away from me.”
“I’m sorry, eye what?”
-/
Somehow, he ends up sitting on the rooftop of this shitty little building until nearly dawn. The band is garbage - he saw that coming. But Marc is quick-witted and funny when he’s not being a smug bastard, and the cheap liquor goes down like water after the initial burn. He doesn’t really introduce Devrim to anyone, but he falls into conversations with others with a lazy sort of ease.
And Devrim will admit, under the mild influence of alcohol, that Marc has a lovely smile. He really could use a haircut, though. He’s presently dozing off on Devrim’s shoulder, hair falling messily into his face.
Devrim plucks the half finished cup from Marc’s hands before he can spill it, his hand relaxing as he fades. “This was a horrible first date,” He whispers, combining their drinks into one cup, stacking Marc’s empty beneath Devrim’s now nearly full one.
“It was, wasn’t it,” Marc murmurs into his shirt, resting bonelessly.
Even so, he puts an arm around Marc’s shoulders. “It was positively dreadful,” Devrim admits. Most everyone is gone now, and the air has that crisp chill, that slight dampness associated with the coming morning.
“You wanna plan the next one?”
“Presumptuous, aren’t you?”
Marc pulls back, looking up at Devrim. It’s so close to the underbelly of the Traveler here that there was a pale purple light that kept things visible, even in the dead of night. “You’re still here,” He grumbles tiredly. “I’m taking it as a victory.”
“That so?”
“Mhmm.” He settles back in, fitting just right beneath Devrim’s chin. Devrim does his best to ignore that and be irritated by the mess of curls tangling in his well-trimmed beard.
“Don’t fall asleep, Marcus.”
“I told you I hate that,” He buzzes, waving a heavy hand.
Devrim laughs. “I know. At least tell me where you live so I can get you back in one piece before you nod off. I can’t imagine you’re one for sleeping on rooftops.”
Drowsy, he mumbles, “You planning to carry me home, old man?”
“Old man? Bah. Aren’t you the one interested in silver foxes?”
“I’m interested in you,” He rephrases. “Would you really carry me home?”
“I could, but I think it’d look more appropriate if you walked.”
“Would you come in, if I invited you?”
“Not a chance.”
“Oh.” Marc sits up, pulling away, shaking his head to reorientate himself. “Well you did say it was a horrific date,” He reminds himself morosely, patting his cheeks to wake up. They’re already pleasantly pink from the alcohol and the cold.
Devrim rises without issue, turning to offer him a hand. Marc looks at it dumbly for a moment, before taking it. He’s hauled up effortlessly, the force sending him forward, past his center of gravity. Devrim catches him with a firm grasp on his shoulders, and a kiss that’s both chaste and blazingly hot. It lasts for hardly a moment, just long enough for a brush of lips, and then Devrim is steering him toward the door that leads down to the exit and Marc is positively reeling - speechless - from something that is hardly anything.
Devrim walks him home in silence, their steps in near-perfect sync.
When Marc goes to step up the half-flight of steps that lead to his door, he gives Devrim a quick head-tilt, the question wordless but present, but the invitation apparent. Devrim nods in a striking no. “Off you go.”
Marc sighs, defeated. “Thanks for giving me a shot, I guess. See you around?”
Devrim cocks his head to the side. “Too tired for the bravado, I see,” The orange glow of dawn is beginning to sneak up on them. “I’ll meet you for lunch on Monday-” Marc perks immediately, surprise flashing unfiltered across his face. “- provided you don’t fawn over me when you pass by in the morning. It’s terribly embarrassing and certainly not the way to convince me to plan our next outing.”
“I can’t make you any promises, Dev.” That cocky look is subdued, but he gives him a once over for show all the same, lips parting in a radiant smile. “I’m a sucker for a man in uniform.”
“Of course you are.” Devrim rolls his eyes.

He really wanted a felafel in his hand
It has been a while. Three, four weeks since my last blog? I would’ve thought I’d be a tad more prolific with the writing in a once-every-century type quarantine. But, no.
Instead of writing, I’ve spent a huge proportion of my time scrolling through countless streams of corona related whathaveyou’s. Some of it pretty useful, most of it less so. And then the usual smattering of (mostly) drivel on social media. Occasionally funny drivel, but still drivel.
In terms of useful sources for corona, poker players are the unique standout.
I used to play a lot of poker. And the last two weekends just gone, I’ve caught up with some friends via video call to play. Nothing serious. More of an excuse to shoot the shit than anything. To be honest, it’s actually not the best way to catch up. Too much time spent transfixed on the cards.
Anyway, thoughts of poker led me to log back on to a poker forum that I used to visit on the regular.  There’s a lot of content geared towards poker (obviously), but there are subforums about all manner of topics. Business, finance and investing is one such subforum. Within that, a few of the regular contributors have created a coronavirus thread.
And basically, it’s easily the best synopsis of everything that’s going on that I’ve found. The posts from as far back as January have turned out to be super prescient, and it’s now my go to fix for a running commentary.
It’s definitely not all good; there’s still plenty of chaff to wade through. And it has exploded into dumb partisan arguments at multiple points. But the nuggets of gold (from a few key individuals) are worth the wade. Kind of ridiculous that I’m writing about an internet forum; speaks to just how bleh the world is right now. Ha.
Speaking to that bleh’ness, and in addition to my (metaphorical) inhalation of coronavirus, I’ve now been working from home for three weeks. Haven’t caught a train in that entire time, which is kind of unheard of, living in Tokyo. It has just been a case of going for walks, going for runs, and slowly going insane in my thirty square metre apartment.
Not really. I’m actually holding up fine.
For all the mayhem, Japan isn’t actually in any sort of lock down yet, either. Not officially, anyway. In the last week, a state of emergency was declared for major metropolitan areas. But it’s nowhere as imposing as what’s in place in other places in the world. The SoE essentially recommends that people stay at home, rather than enforcing that people stay at home. Crazy thing is that with Japanese culture being the way it is, the recommendation actually (kind of) works.
The effect of the recommendation was definitely in plain sight on Friday night. I had spent almost the entire day at home, but decided to head out around 830 to get some fresh air and felafel. I was really craving it for some reason. Possibly because I had alternated pesto pasta and shitty stir fry for the previous five nights. I could’ve definitely pursued a delivery option, but I decided to risk death and walk and get takeaway.
I left my apartment and headed into Shibuya proper at about 830. And the place was apocalyptic. I don’t think those normally packed streets would have been that empty for at least a few centuries. Super eery to see unlit neon signs, random bits of trash blowing through the streets (it was pretty windy), and only a scant few other people like myself, wandering around.
I went to turn back multiple times from just how weird the vibe was, but I was also really craving falafel so I pushed on (knowing that it was almost certainly closed). Some restaurants were open, but they were the exception. And they certainly weren’t cashing in on the swathes of pent up demand; they were all effectively empty.
Anyway, when I finally made it to the complex where the felafel place was, the whole building was shuttered. A big part of me was kind of relieved. I felt guilty for even going out in the first place (for something pretty trivial). Also, I didn’t actually want to have to go through the torment of touching a public door handle. Ha.
Sans falafel, I instead made do with a bowl of microwave soba from Family Mart. And the best thing: automatic doors. I’m really looking forward to the day that I’m not this comically paranoid.
Apart from poker and felafel, what else has been going on?
Well, I got rid of almost all my furniture. And that includes my (former) bed. I now just sleep on the floor on a pretty thin futon. And when I say removed, I ended up replacing the multiple items with a table and seat. So it was really a consolidation. It’s now a lot more minimal. Just need a plant or two, but I might wait until the whole SoE situation passes before heading out to the shops.
Oh, and I now have a chin up bar that takes up the entirety of the middle of my loungeroom. The intention is to attain some sort of climbing fitness while locked up. Will see how I go.
Always more that I could say, but will leave it there for now.
Sayonara.
