not to be the guy that’s only talking about mizu5, but I think the impact of it is so interesting. obviously it’s going to have the impact of handling a trans character’s story really well —something that is so important as we continue to progress as a society— and I think it’s also a testament to how much these things can blow up. handling a queer character’s story well is going to make a really good impression among audiences (at least, the ones that are progressively becoming louder and louder in the grand scheme of things). I’ve seen this event bringing people into proseka too, which there’s something to be said there

it’s so interesting to me how much this event has spread outside of the immediate and related fandoms for project sekai (think enstars, bang!dream, etc.), onto completely random people’s social media feeds. the amount of tweets I’ve seen from random ass accounts talking about this is kind of fascinating

like this is just some guy. and I’m obsessed with it.

anyways. big game companies or tv studios. make more trans and queer characters that have care and understanding put into their storylines. it will pay off and age incredibly well and bring you more money

Happy Miku Day!!

I got introduced to Miku through the disappearance of Hatsune Miku, and she has been about a 10 year long special interest since - no matter what other hyperfixations join my list, she's always there.

Some of my favourite memories of Miku are

Playing the tutorial of project diva, thinking I was some kinda prodigy that was amazing at this game, proceeding to play one(1) song and failing in less than a minute

Getting my first ever figure! It was a 2020 Racing Miku - I still have her, but I first made a Miku shelf in my bedroom with cut out posters from magazines and drawings I'd done, and then my one singular Miku figure, plus some knock-off mini figures my parents had bought me

Playing project sekai! I used to be really big on playing Bandori, so I knew I liked that style of game, so when there was one like that but Miku? Hooked. Me and my fiancée obsessively played it for weeks, eventually getting the Japanese version so we could play more songs. I never played through all the stories, but I did play through vivid bad squad and wonderland x showtime, and they especially hold a special place in my heart.

Buying Miku figures from my local anime shop! It's so nice to meet other people interested in the same things, and we're able to get figures that have been announced pretty quickly from there, as well as one of my first ever scale figures!

Making friends with other people that enjoy Miku - whether it's music, games, art, most of my friend group enjoys Miku in someway or another, and that makes me so so happy

Miku will continue to be in my life for a long long time, and I hope to continue to make more happy memories with her 🩵🩵

Hello!! I'm Mod H! I've never done a daily account before, but really wanted to try it out especially since momokarun is my main hyperfixation right now—and of course I had to drag my partner K into it ˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶ !

I love making all kinds of fan content, and have been known to make fanart, write fic, make edits, and even real life crafts such as scrapbook pages based on my favorite things! Some other things that I enjoy include music analysis/music theory, vocaloid (esp. vflower), and psychology. I'm currently working on a double major in music/psychology. Some of my favorite musicians include AURORA, Niru Kajitsu, Gregory + the Hawk, Gorillaz, and all kinds of other stuff!

Hey hey!! Mod K here!! :3 We’ve been running this account for a few weeks now and I’m excited to finally sort of introduce myself a little bit!! I can’t say exactly when this all started but these goobers have taken up nearly all the space in my brain as of late, so getting to run this page with my lovely partner and share your daily dose of the sillies has been really fun!! And I can’t wait to continue!! Especially the more we read about them/watch whenever the show picks back up!

As far as I go, I’m just your typical average everyday guy ;3 Honestly, it’s kind of funny. When I was younger I used to be super into gravity falls and such, and by proxy became a bit obsessed with the occult and have acquired a bunch of books like Okarun has about these kinds of things. I think it’s safe to say I’ve had a pretty keen interest of the paranormal for quite a while now, and it keeps coming back around full circle with my interests!

Some other things about me… I’m currently graduated with a degree in animation. I adore the production aspect of all things animation and character design, the depths of character design. I’m a super big fan of things like Project Sekai, Genshin, (obviously Dandadan) I used to be a pretty avid cosplayer but I haven’t in a little while due to being busy in my personal life but I might pick it up again. The desire to cosplay these goobers is strong as ever. Oh, and I’m a huge fan of mod H (💕💕💕) my very lovely lovely partner :3

Anyways, I’m super excited to continue this account! Keep posting the sillies and sharing them for all of you! Hopefully we can all interact and have a good time!

I lived in a dormitory for a year. Best year of my life but that's not the point of this story. The point is, one of the friends I made there brought her PS4 and, eventually, when we knew everyone could be trusted, left it in the common room.

One day, playing Project Diva, she struggled to full combo Tengaku on Expert. Many of us tried, with varying levels of success. When she eventually gave up, another friend took the reins.

And became fucking obsessed.

What I mean is... every day, after we finished classes and got back to the dorm, he would take his stuff to his room and come straight to the common room to play Tengaku. He would play it nonstop until dinnertime. After dinner he would continue. He would do his homework at some point and then come back to play Tengaku until it was bedtime. He would stay in the common room with lights out after curfew to play Tengaku with the sound as low as he could set it and still faintly hear. I cannot stress enough how much I am not being hyperbolic about this he was literally always* playing Tengaku in the common room. Which was, incidentally, not so much a separate room as an indent in the corridor with all the rooms. You could always hear Tengaku when you opened your door.

*he only took breaks if someone explicitly asked to watch tv or play something else. he would not stop if you asked him to stop playing but weren't going to use the tv yourself.

And this went on for... quite a while. I want to say "like, two weeks, at least," but it PROBABLY wasn't that long. It's been almost ten years; my memory is hazy. But even if it was just a couple of days. That's a lot of Tengaku. That's a lot of one song as the permanent, looping soundtrack of the entire third floor of a dormitory.

Many of our friends came to — quite understandably! — fucking hate Tengaku. Some of them still can't listen to it all these years later. You mention the word Tengaku and get grimaces. You'd think they break out in hives by how much they Do Not Like to remember that particular point in our cherished past.

I, however, am a different species. Not only because everything about that year is sacred to me and I will be chasing that high for the rest of my life and have distorted even the unsavory experiences into good memories. No, I only ever thought this whole thing was fucking hilarious. Nothing funnier than sitting on the backrest of a couch watching someone play the same song he's been playing for the past three hours when every other person in vicinity is in clear distress.

It's a good song! Somehow I never got tired of it. I alone understood him. Brothers in arms. Not the only time I was the only one who clicked with about something either but that's neither here nor there.

The point is, I have nothing but fond memories of Tengaku. I smile whenever I hear it. It's an important part of The Dorm Lore, a historical incident.

The reason I'm talking about this now is that they added Tengaku to Project Sekai and I'm currently struggling to full combo it on Expert.

Fic: CyberRock Fandom: Project SEKAI Fic Summary: In a world where over half of the population is oppressed due to having animal traits, evil runs through the world. Organized by the Syndicate, they monopolize the masses to maintain control. Under the city of Cybrerock, the city the Syndicate originated from, is the main base of the Rebellion. In order to take down the enemy and create a more equal world where no one is looked down upon without good reason, the Rebellion's best squad - CGO - tries their best to work against the Syndicate while being targeted by the most dangerous of the Syndicate's teams... But with the help of the friends they make, they know they can bring down the families who hurt so many. Nene knew this mission wasn't going to be easy. It never was when her squad was assigned. The downside to being the highest ranking squad besides the leaders, she supposed. Scope locked and looking around, she raised her wrist to activate her communicator. "In place. Maverick?"

"In position. Glint, Daybreak?" The calm voice said, continuing the check in. The long silence led to two annoyed sighs. "Daybreak, come on, I know you're there, I just heard you arguing with Glint over the comms."

"Yeah, yeah, we're ready. It'd be easier if you were paired with me instead of this brat."

"In position. Also, fuck you, Daybreak." The feline's voice was hardly not a hiss. Another sigh.

"Save it for the distraction. I'll say when." Looking back through her scope, the fox checked everything. The top floor, the front door, the sides of the building. "Clear. Begin phase 1." She watched through the scope as her friends and squad mates made their way over to the front door, arguing. If nothing else, this struggle to get along made for perfect ways to lower the guard of anyone they needed to go up against. Her cyber ears flicked. "Maverick. Scope me."

She glanced at their trackers. So far, none were off... But the unease was confirmed when a bullet flew past her face, perfectly far enough away not to hit her. Rolling over fast, she pulled her handgun out of her inventory, to meet-

"Is that anyway to say hi to an old friend, my dear?"

She felt the tracker turn off in her communicator. Out of all the members of the Syndicate, why was he always on her team's case?

". . . Rui."

"So you do remember my name! I have to say, that non-sniper friend of yours really is a good shot. I'll have to have Tsukasa get the bullet out this time~" Despite being clearly injured, he moved closer and pressed his forehead against her pistol. "Do it."

She tightened her look. Remembering a lot of good times before the two of them got into the mess before them. Enough hesitation to allow her a good stab to his shoulder and slip away from underneath him. Nene growled once away. "If you're so insistent on the ‘friends’ title, join the rebellion and stop bugging me." She retorted. Praying that Maverick got hold of Glint and told her to stay in the building.

"I'll admit, you and I have nearly friendship ending differences!" Rui winced a bit as he downed a health potion. "But that can't stop me from visiting you~ Especially when you make it so easy."

"To the surprise of everyone, the Syndicate gives days off! Or are you just being a naughty little puppy who ran from master?" God, it stung to say that. To both her and him, as evident by his face shifting from playful to just plain mad.

"You leave Tsukasa out of this. Your so called friends killed someone dear to him." He snarled. "Like how they fooled you."

"Lay off it. I wasn't fooled, unlike you. Also, I poisoned my dagger. You've become so obsessed with catching Glint, you've become a little predictable."

Angry. That's what Emu was. Cyber's tracker was off, which meant she was attacked. Maverick said stay in the building, meaning that fucking dog was nearby. And the people in the building were mostly holograms, the few who weren't tied up or knocked out. Two had died, not for a lack of trying to save them. Swinging her mallet around would cause too much noise. So she slinked back and forth, growling lowly. Daybreak huffed. "Calm down, at least we don't have to fight much."

"You really are a fucking idiot! This was a trap! Nomad was tricked, ONE HALF was tricked. If this goes anymore wrong we'll have to pray they're fucking insane enough to prefer torturing the information out of us than normal interrogation." Emu hissed loudly. Her ears perked and she raised her mallet.

"You offer that for my bosses and they might just be willing to do so~" A groan escaped the cat. Tsukasa Tenma, one of the top workers for the Syndicate. And never too far away from his mutt. "Now, if you come with politely, I might even be able to arrange a more comfortable cell for in between the torture!"

Daybreak growled, moving closer to Emu. She knew why, but it irked her more. "Nice joke. That something they train you in?" The Akita barked.

"Tut tut. I can be funny outside work, you know. And as for top agents, such as your team, it's simply a matter of time before a proper slip up befalls you. Though, I will admit... No file said anything about Miss Glint here being able to tell traps."

Emu hissed. "I'm full of surprises."

She folded her ears back more as Tsukasa smiled, gently. Almost teasingly. "Indeed you are. It must be why Rui's so interested in you. Speaking of, I'm sure you know he's around. If you cooperate, I will make sure he—"

Leave it to Maverick to multitask saving asses. She really needed to thank him for shutting him up.

"I see you two have someone who answers for you. Very well." She watched the blond pull two swords out. "I guess it's a worth a little extra exercise."

Akito moved even closer to Glint. He knew To— er... Maverick was probably busy covering Cyber, which left him to guarantee Glint wouldn't get hurt. He knew that, under normal circumstances, Glint could handle herself. But the ass in front of them, and the dire wolf somewhere nearby, always ruined her normal battle ready attitude. Mostly the mutt that followed Tsukasa, but Tsukasa as well. Seriously, could it really be any less lucky that it was them?

Moving in between their enemy and Glint was like a death sentence. If he didn't die, Glint sure would. And even if they survived the fight, Glint would kill him when they got close to base out of anger for treating her like a damsel in destress. So he stayed by her side, moving closer despite how much it clearly annoyed her. Maybe if he annoyed her enough, she’d be back to battle ready.

“I’m feeling gratuitous today. You may h–” Akito didn't wait. Neither did Glint. The two launched forward before Tsukasa finished talking and landed two solid hits on the enemy. Backing up, he launched his kusarigama at the blonde to make an opening for Glint. “GH—”

Glint pulled out her daggers, letting her mallet go into her inventory, landing two solid stabs into Tsukasa’s right arm before kicking him to remove the blades. Taking a moment to analyze, Akito saw the HP bar appear. 100/473. They took him down a lot. He grabbed Glint’s wrist, before tossing a smoke bomb down and running off with her to a higher level.

He heard her hiss. “We should take him down completely!! What are you doing!”

“Yeah, right. All that would do is make us bigger targets for the wolf! Do you want to be bait to take them both down?” Akito huffed, shoving the cat into a closet then joining her.

“Oof! No, but hiding??!” Glint growled. “We’re as good as sitting ducks here!”

The Akita rolled his eyes. “Nomad wanted me to test out these new smoke bombs anyway. Hopefully they work. Cause if they do, our tracks’ll be covered for an hour. Meaning we just have to be sneaky.” He explained. Moving to the small window, he looked around and saw a flash of blue. He pulled out his communicator. “Maverick, we got the ringleader down to 100 HP. Cover Cyber and get the wolf into the building. I’ll run evac on Glint and me.”

“Copy that.”

Toya sighed softly. He really hated the wolf and his partner. Hearing Akit– Ah, Daybreak, say what happened as he ran to Cyber, he checked what he could with his scope. Surprisingly, Tsukasa had not recovered health. But Rui did. Surmising Rui had all the health potions, he launched a few shots at Tsukasa, landing them. Another check, and Tsukasa was at 23 remaining health. Perfect timing, as he prepared an attack at Rui.

“Your partner made a mistake letting you have all the health potions.” He offered as a tease. The dire wolf turned around, eye narrow in rage.

“What.”

“He’s at 23 HP now that we’ve picked fights. Since he hasn't recovered yet, I’m confident he said take all the healing items.” Toya narrowed his own eyes. “It’s let him die or let us go. Your choice.”

Rui looked between Cyber and Toya, before snarling and running off to the building. Toya counted to 10 before contacting Daybreak again. “He’ll be there soon. Get moving to escape.”

“Open window spotted. Where are you two?” Cyber asked through Toya’s comm.

“A closet.” Glint muttered.

“I see the window. Should be 4 rooms north of you on the same side as the closet entrance.” Toya informed. Hearing shuffling, he watched Cyber take a deep breath and look through her own scope. ”You okay…?”

“I’m tired of him always finding us. We should have Snow Fall and Ribbon check our uniforms for trackers…” Cyber muttered. “Looks like Rui’s at Tsukasa’s side. Tell them to keep going north and we’ll meet them at Fasu Point.”

“Got it.“ He raised his communicator again, watching the two climb down the side of the building. “Rendezvous is Fasu Point. Keep going north for a while to meet us there.”

“Copy that.” Daybreak said.

He nodded to Cyber and the two moved off to the northeast to pass through the river. Helping Cyber through, he sighed. “I hope this throws our scent off…”

“Yeah…” Cyber was shaken up, clearly. More so than she had been with past encounters. It was concerning.

“Cyber… Are you alright? We can tell Nomad we can't take missions for a short while if you need a break.” He offered. He watched her smile a little.

“Good idea…”

Many miles later and they met up at Fasu Point with the rest of the squad. All of them were tired, shaken up and ready to stop. Toya took lead on getting to an entrance to the base, where Nomad and Ribbon were nervously waiting.

“We saw Glint, Daybreak and Cyber go off the trackers! What happened?!” Ribbon asked.

“The mutt and the tamer tricked us.” Daybreak said. “The whole thing was a sham.” Toya watched Glint’s ears fold back.

“It was almost like they wanted to capture Cyber Sniper. The dire wolf had all the healing items and was laser focused on her. He only left her alone because his partner needed healing.” Toya explained.

“It was a trap. Someone tipped them off.” Glint huffed.

Nomad held her hand up. “We have the mole already in custody. They fessed up after realizing how kindly we treated him. He’s been registered as a new Rebellion member and will be punished for this mission farce.” CGO Squad sighed. “In the meantime, Ribbon is going to check your uniforms for trackers and make you new ones if needed. Glint, she already put a new one for you in your room. Get some rest.” The members of Nightbella Squad left, leaving them alone.

admin 🎼 here - happy first week of daily honakana except not really because we missed yesterday, whoops! i’ll be trying my hardest to make an extra post (once i work up the motivation to)!!

anyway today im here to announce i figured out im bi and honakana was part of the reason why 👍 here’s, somehow, a five-paragraph ramble about that! this doesn’t really fit the blog’s usual posts but i figured i’d talk about it because i didn’t want us to miss posting two days in a row, and i wanted to discuss how special these two random ass girls are to me <3 this is pretty personal but i thought id get it out somewhere and this blog seems fitting enough. if its too long then just know the moral of the story is that honakana changed my life

okay so i do like guys, which is something i cannot deny. i hardly even considered the possibility of me liking girls as well, though, until i downloaded project sekai on my phone. Yes, until I downloaded project sekai. i was already a huge vocaloid fan (not to the ridiculous extent i currently am, but it was still one of my most important interests!), so of course i became a huge prsk fan, too. i immediately grew attached to nightcord, and kanade in particular! why her? i couldn’t tell you, but boy did i really like her. and i still do!

i was an active shipper of some characters from some different fandoms at this point, combing through google for ship art and reading tons of ao3 works and basically searching everywhere for scraps of content of them. all my favorite couples were straight, though - i was fine with gay pairings, but didn’t care all that much about them. now, i was thinking a lot about kanamafu (who i still love too!). and then i wondered if anyone was shipping kanade with her housekeeper. i proceeded to go to ao3 and read all of skwakr’s works, and then all the few other works tagged with honakana, and then i followed the tag and looked everywhere for honakana fanart to save and honakana AUs and canon honakana moments and whatever other content i could find of them. somehow despite the fact they had hardly anything together in canon or fanon (at the time, anyway) they were my new obsession.

why? again, i couldn’t exactly tell you. i think it had something to do with how sweet and uncomplicated their relationship was, though - it was easy to believe honami would always care for kanade, and kanade would always leave time for her, and both would unconditionally love the other with nothing stopping them. i also think it must have been because of how well skwakr portrayed that unconditional love (go read their works if you haven’t, they express such great love in so few words and they’re incredible!!!). it seemed so real to me, real enough i somehow managed to fall in love with honakana as much as each was in love with the other. oh yeah and this was while my first (male!) crush was raging on - i turned to a pair of fictional girls dating for comfort while constantly pining over him. that was incredible of me. i mean i still do that tbf

i eventually lost my interest in prsk itself and got rid of the game, but my interest in honakana didn’t waver much. i didn’t actively interact with the fandom or read every single honakana fic that was released - i didn’t even find out about their wedding event until a few months ago - but i continued thinking about the two of them frequently. recently, i started the game again, for a reason i don’t remember. i don’t think i was planning on playing it much; then, i learned about the event and that it was coming to the EN server in a few months, and after not playing for so long, i suddenly had a goal waiting to be completed in those few months. i needed to rank high on the leaderboard, and i needed to do it for those two fictional lesbians i loved so much, for some reason.

a new, more agonizing crush is currently raging on for me. i’m pretty sure the object of that crush now thinks i’m a lesbian after having explained my need to tier in the event to him (and also having an icon of marcille donato on discord). it’s now a day since the event’s ended and i’ve been thinking a lot about my orientation - yes, mainly because of him, but also because it’s something i haven’t really figured out about myself. i’ve never liked a girl as much as those two boys, but i consider way more girls from fictional media hot than guys, and there’s also … all of this to consider. i don’t know how else to say it: i do not think there is a heterosexual explanation for my two-year-strong obsession with the not-even-that-fleshed-out relationship of two girls who are not real and are not dating. somehow, they’ve been as much of a constant presence in my life as that first crush was! and so thinking about it today i have decided i do not give a shit if i’ve only ever liked real guys and fake girls, i am bi and nobody gets to decide that except for me. who cares? no one should, except for me! thank you for reading my pouring my heart out about two random anime girls and good night. i need to go to sleep save me honakana

--- Monthly Music Recs - May 2024 ---

Medic: A Doll - STEAKA

Got this idea from @high-lagaard, so thank you! My music taste is pretty broad so I feel like each rec list is going to be very varied lmao.

This month I've been listening to a lot of Nothing But Thieves (I also went to a concert of theirs at the start of this month) - mostly songs from their more recent album (Dead Club City) as I hadn't listened to much of it prior (I'm was more familiar with their older stuff). My favourites from that one are Welcome to the DCC, Pop The Balloon, Oh No :: He Said What? (I lost my mind when they played it live lol) and Time :: Fate :: Karma :: God.

A new Fox Stevenson single came out recently (Sorry), and I've been listening to it almost every day since it came out. I'm in love with the switch-up at the end. It also feels like it could easily transition into another track, which makes me think it might be part of an album in the future (I'm hoping so, at least).

I've been obsessed with Medicine by Sasuke Haraguchi and will continue to listen to it on repeat. It's just so catchy. I also adore this cover and this cover.

Parry by Miyamori Bungaku is also a huge banger. I'm a massive fan of electro swing.

Heat Abnormal by Iyowa has also been on repeat because I heard the Project Sekai version and fell in love with both it and the original (also this cover, this cover and this cover).

Medic: A Doll by STEAKA is so, so, so good and I've been obsessed with it for well over a month at this point lol.

I've also been listening to a lot of King Gizzard as per usual, mostly Witchcraft and Gila Monster (the music vid for the latter is so stupid and they know it and I love it).

Autre Temps by Alcest is also insanely good and I highly recommend both it and the band. Lots of shoegaze mixed with metal (dubbed 'blackgaze'). This song in particular is just very chill and magical.

The entire BlazBlue: Central Fiction soundtrack has been blessing my ears once again. I've literally only played the game a couple of times lol but the soundtrack is just so good. Bullet Dance II, Rebellion II, Lust SIN II, Gluttony Fang II and Oriental Flower II are especially good.

Lastly (I mean, there are so many songs I could recommend, but I'll stop after this lol), I've been listening to so much Polkadot Stingray, which is something I always do. I definitely recommend Free, Kenshin (probably my fav song of theirs), Denkousekka and Blue.

leo/need

ichika would definitely be in the woodwind section, very likely alto sax. she joined to be with the rest of leo/need who now need a high sustained voice (see saki) to jam out together. she's not the greatest but she has a very solid and grounded sound.

saki started on trumpet (like her brother), but she ended up moving to percussion because her sickness prevented her from playing trumpet properly (disclaimer i know next to none of the lore past the very broad strokes so pls let me know if this wouldn't work for whatever reason). she would specialize in mallet percussion!

shiho would be that one bassoon player who's absolutely cracked at their instrument and is somehow also very good at several other instruments as well.

honami is percussion (duh) but unlike saki she specializes in timpani! she also does drumset for pieces that need it!

minori would definitely play french horn cuz she heard haruka playing a french horn solo with like a youth symphony or something. she was terrible at it at first but she kept pushing and steadily got better and better until she got second chair horn (aka sitting next to haruka)

haruka, like i mentioned, has played horn for quite some time, having played with youth symphonies and entered solo competitions as well. she was on the verge of quitting for good before she heard minori practicing outside, and they both joined band together!

shizuku plays flute and has a knack for playing very pretty. especially her higher range is much less shrill than her sectionmates'. she sometimes plays the piccolo parts on the flute just for funsies.

airi plays tuba specifically cuz she reminds me of this one tuba player from my high school band. she's a very strong all-round player and leader of the low brass section.

vivid bad squad

kohane plays clarinet. this makes so much sense to me. but her playing would have been very thin and very weak, then it became more full bodied and warm after she met an and heard her playing.

an plays tenor sax, although she also knows alto sax and can play bari sax decently well if needed. she definitely has a lot of street jazz influence growing up on vivid street. she has written several duets for herself and kohane that she has yet to show her.

akito plays trombone. i feel like this doesn't need elaboration but he would have been one of *those* trombone players starting off in middle school, but after seeing a jazz trombone performance, he started to take it a lot more seriously, ending up on vivid street.

toya started out playing the oboe cuz of his father, but switched to euphonium after meeting akito, kind of as a way to support him but also to explore a new avenue and carve his own path. he also benefitted a lot under airi's leadership, and of course from being under tsukasa's wing.

wonderlands x showtime

tsukasa, as mentioned earlier, plays trumpet because of course he does. he would have been one of those kids obsessed with hitting the highest note but eventually developed into an outstanding and very well-rounded player, exercising a very high level of musicianship. he's also strong leader in the brass section along with airi. obviously he continues to play at such a high level because saki can't play trumpet anymore, and you can hear how he almost plays as two for some passages.

emu is a percussionist, and she is very focused on unpitched percussion (especially cymbals) because they make boom and crash sounds but also a plethora of other very interesting sounds. this is also why she was so excited to find the rest of wxs because there is only so much you can do as a solo unpitched percussionist.

rui plays bari sax but one of those saxophones who spends way too much time with the percussion section. he repairs and maintains the percussion instruments but also sometimes makes new instruments with crap he has lying around. he's also the go-to instrument repairman for everyone in the band because his supply of spare parts seems to have no end.

nene started on clarinet but eventually fell in love with the bass clarinet. at first her approach was to achieve the best blend with the ensemble but now she's also looking for ways to really make the bass clarinet shine in its own right.

25ji nightcord de

kanade plays horn but also has a very strong understanding of how all the instruments in the ensemble work together. as a result, she's also composed a few pieces for the band to play (every single one has driven the audience to tears).

mafuyu plays the oboe, according to her mother's wishes, but instead of switching instruments, kanade's compositions helped bring out the oboe in ways that helped mafuyu's individuality shine through.

ena would play flute. she'd be a very good player at her best but her sound is very affected by how tense she is, more so than others. she's VERY good at technical passages and every note is crystal clear.

mizuki is definitely a french horn player. their playing is good, but they're really in band to have a good time. they can often be found chatting with those around them, specifically the rest of the brass section and the saxes.

anyway my knowledge of sekai lore is rudimentary at best so i'd love to hear more thoughts on these. i might add the virtual singers at some point as well who knows.

Division Discourse [OverDrive Edition] Welcome to the 1st edition of Division Discourse, fellow HYPSTERS! It only makes sense to begin with the main trio and former members of Traffic Light after all, so let’s get into it! [WARNING — This is going to be LONG, brace yourselves] —————————————————————————————————————

Early Creative Process Before I became apart of the Hypmic OC community [and got into HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE], I was obsessed with idol music franchises around this time [such as Project SEKAI, Ensemble Stars and so on.] Because of this, I had the amazing idea to create my own idol project. One of the established units, #PlugIn, had a technological style and was considered an electronic band. This lead to some similarities between both groups [including the same theme colour, motive to become something new and “technical” appearance…]

Division Continuing on with the fan project, I originally thought of each unit living in a distinct city of Japan. To no surprise, I chose Fukuoka for #PlugIn. Nowadays I understand somewhat of what the city reflects in division terms, but it boiled down to my past self thinking the city was some sort of “technology based hub”. Currently, this mindset still sticks to this day despite knowing what it truly is like in reality. So, I guess I think it’s more about showing my vision of what Fukuoka appears as that is a reason on why my team is a little different in my opinion.

Etymology OverDrive’s name derives from the term “Overdrive”, which has many definitions — “A gear in a motor vehicle providing a gear ratio higher than that of direct drive” or “give an electric guitar a distorted sound” are a couple examples. For the sake of the team, I chose “drive or work to exhaustion”. In order to reach their original goal of overthrowing Chuohku, they had to work themselves tirelessly to harness the power of their mic’s and prepare themselves for the DRB to get closer to them. Now with their change of plans, they still are working harder to move forward and force a secret revolution against them and those who wronged them before. Overall, their “drive” is insanely powerful and no better name could resonate with their background they’ve built ever since they debuted.

Symbolism Hear me out, I can’t get enough with symbolism surrounding my characters. These guys? No exception whatsoever! Theme Colour — Electric Blue When deciding a colour, electricity was my first thought when I got up to the main premise of the team. Going with the whole “lighting struck twice” schtick, I sought out blue to be a very lightning based colour. Along the way, I also figured out Eko’s Traffic Light colour was the same, hinting that all 3 members “GO” after their ambitions opposed to “STOP” or “SLOW”. Symbol — Music Note Put simply, this classic musical symbol easily represents their involvement in the art of music surrounding their lives. Of course, this also connects to utilizing it to create and make change within their world [Traffic Light/OverDrive]. Hand Sign — Downward Facing Palm I found out in the early days the gesture was a signal for dominance, which spells out the teams motif more than ever. A little deeper in, I wasn’t expecting it to be a signal of power and utmost authority — but here we are! Group Character Development Fast forward to my entrance in the Hypmic OC community, I tended to only give a taste for what was on the outside of the 3 of them [I was excited to join the community at first, which is still a factor of my frequent posting even today.] In their debut season, they were presented as a rebellious group of individuals who wanted to reach their ambitions faster than anyone else in the DRB, often resulting in slightly distrusting other divisions [this is evident in their division reviews and birthday events], their heavy desire to represent Fukuoka [as feeling threatened by MIHANASA, Fukuoka’s original rap team — Belongs to @veryalpacawerewolf] and other shenanigans.

— Individual Character Development — Around this time, I’ve become a fledged fan of HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE. Understanding the characters and teams, blasting my favourite songs on my playlist [and any other sort of chaos a Hypmic fan can experience.] Of course, I had to check out the anime for some sort of story and out of pure curiosity. Personally? It still slaps to this day. After checking out the 1st season, I knew if I didn’t create some OC’S of my own, I was going to regret it for the rest of my life…

Eko Seishin Whilst immersing myself in Rhyme Anima’s 1st season, Matenrou was my favourite team from beginning to end. Since this was my “placing fandom OC in canon storyline” phase…Meet the 4th former member of Matenrou ladies and gents! In the early days, Eko was actually a well known DJ prior to the DRB. Having a decent relationship with Hifumi and visiting his club often, he became acquainted with Doppo after a few encounters and acted like a 2nd Hifumi to him. Meeting Jakurai and joining the 3 on their mission with Hifumi’s stalker, he became the 4th member of Shinjuku’s rap team. In OverDrive’s debut season, he turned out to be quite a smug character. I thought of him being the classic “no more Mr. Nice guy” archetype, so his interactions with others were made as clever and cunning as I could possibly get him to be [it was funny since I was only playing around with him…] Now, he’s still the same guy, plus becoming more dedicated with his team. More recently, I’ve associated some inspiration from K-Pop onto his idol profession [be it the way he dresses, I don’t know why leather jackets were so intriguing] and making him shoot for the stars to reach his targets.

Mai Yousei [Fun fact, both Mai and Yuno were created consecutively after each other while Eko stands as the 1st HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE OC I’ve made]. After watching the anime and developing the teams premise, Jakurai holds the title as my favourite character out of the cast. I also finished OverDrive’s escape from Chuohku to Fukuoka, and Shinjuku was the 1st stop out of Tokyo. In the early days, Mai was conceived with their dancing title and viewed her teammates as older brother figures. Hence, they didn’t get much of their own development as a stand alone character at the time…However, Mai replaced Eko in being constant allies with Matenrou [this was around Traffic Lights escape in “Death By Microphone”, Eko became more acquainted to M.T.C] In OverDrive’s debut season, Mai was easily the rebellious player [and finally got some development!] I knew I needed someone to act as a catalyst in the team, so they were the best choice due to their “2nd member status” I’ll call it. Aside that, they were the optimist of the group and kept the teams spirit going [which makes sense for their positive character archetype]. Now, they’ve changed quite a bit as time flew. Making a name for themselves as Shade and trying to re-emerge from their sexual past, K-Pop was also incorporated into their character because of it’s insane dancing style [varsity jackets were also considered cool to me] and them coming to terms that gender doesn’t decide who they are meant to be.

Yuno Kamora Near the same time of Mai’s creation, I got into Ensemble Stars alongside Project SEKAI. One character in particular, Yuzuru Fushimi [character belongs to Happy Elements], caught my eye with his butler physique. I thought to myself “If I don’t make myself a butler inspired character, that is going to follow me to the grave.” As you would expect, we got ourselves a butler… In the early days, Yuno was well mannered and was known for his status in his family, becoming extremely liked by Fukuoka’s locals [up until his fathers false arrest]. He acted as a similar brotherly figure to his teammates, being protective over Mai and supportive of Eko. Thus, he was pretty much a blank slate this far in his creation. In OverDrive’s debut season, let’s say he was super against criminals and injustice! Tying the knot between his fathers arrest and Chuohku’s lineup of wanted inmates that roam the DRB, somebody was going to have to do something about it. So, why not take matters into his own 2 hands? How hard could it be!? [I also felt like stirring up some fun in universe community drama, so he was the perfect fit in that department]… Now, Yuno’s character can be described as “a villain who doesn’t fight for evil and making his own mark on the world are both challenges that, despite their differences, are equal even in the eyes of an immortal.” He’s become more wary of the world around him and doesn’t jump to conclusions as fast like he used to. What’s more, he knows that others suffer just like him and probably have been through more, though that doesn’t mean he can’t understand the concept of pain itself. ————————————————————————————————————— [HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE belongs to KING RECORDS]

yayayay ask games!! i love ask games but i never have people to do it with so thank you for @mentioning/ me!! ok so.... [last song - better off worse by circus-p] I recently stumbled upon this song and i instantly fell in love with it! i love the catchy tune that feels nostalgic to years ago despite being released this year, i love the switching animations of the mv when flower says "better better better off worse" as it reminds me of animation memes (!!!!), and how it kinda reminds me of how people usually make producers music viral if it is sad, etc, and sometimes overlook their happier works. Overall i just adore this song, everyone should listen to it!! [currently watching - project sekai event stories and art reference videos on youtube] currently reading up on nightcord lore specifically cuz....my sillies. i havent been updated on my sillies. aaaand watching art reference videos to level up my art for the free time i have before september (which is school season for me) [currently reading - oshi no ko] catching up on the last few chapters!! the story's been wild lately.... Last song listened to: Be my Everything (English Version). It’s a solo song from one of the members of a K-pop group named Purple Kiss, and it’s fantastic! Great vocals, even though I do prefer the other song from the single more.

Currently Watching: Nashville (2013) and the new season of The Dragon Prince. I only have one episode of Nashville left and it’s the finale, so that’s pretty sad. I’m three episodes into season 5 of Dragon Prince and really liking it! I’m glad the animation has improved since the beginning.

Currently Reading: Nothing now. I just finished Dear Mothman by Robin Gow and loved it though! It is written for young teens, but it’s a really great queer narrative and is written through some very nice free verse poetry.

Current Obession: It’s mainly Skyrim (liked it so much I made a Tumblr blog for it, after all), but since I talk a lot about that, I’ll also mention Hollow Knight. I’m playing it right now and it’s very hard, but very good! I like how little handholding it does.
