F!Hawke/Varric notfic set after Inquisition

Self-indulgent fluff that may or may not end up an actual fic at some point. If you love H/V as much as I do please follow so I can follow back. Featuring screenshots from Veilguard (we're pretending it's the Hanged Man interior) with my Marian Hawke made from the character creator.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But what if Hawke eventually finds her way to an eluvian in the fade that spits her out of Merrill's? What if she makes it out and it's only been a year, and Varric is back in Kirkwall, and she walks into the Hanged Man to see Varric at their usual table. So she waltzes up and grabs a mug to drink from before she says anything.

Varric watches her for a moment, glances around to make sure he's not dreaming, and sees that Merrill is walking up behind Hawke, grinning.

Merrill starts chatting rapidly about how Hawke had stumbled out of her eluvian and "isn't it wonderful, Varric, Hawke is alive!"

Varric grabs another mug from the empty table behind him and pours himself a drink before looking up at Hawke, "Welcome home, Hawke."

Hawke tells him all about her adventures in the fade, talking the nightmare demon down into a tiny spirit of hope, because she couldn't stop talking about the home she needed to get back to and the loves she'd left on the other side of the veil.

Merrill and Varric catch Hawke up on the last 12 months and the defeat (final, finally.) of corypheus and how solas had left the inquisitior, and how they're talking about making Varric the Viscount of Kirkwall. Eventually the hour grows late and Merrill heads home, with the promise of meeting up with them tomorrow.

Hawke and Varric share a look and finish their drinks, and she follows Varric to the Hawke estate where he'd been staying since he got back from the Inquisition. He managed all her finances, and she'd been declared dead for a while. Their hands find each other and fingers tangle together as they walk.

Unspoken, Hawke and Varric walk into the house and when she makes noises about wanting to soak in a bath she's thrilled to find out Varric's had modern plumbing installed.

She strips and gets into the tub without a second thought for Varric, who pulls up a chair and sits near the bath so they can still see each other. She must look tired because he doesn't make her keep talking while she bathes, just opens a small book and starts reading to her.

By the time she realizes he's reading from the last Hard In Hightown serial she remembered him publishing, he looks up at her, "This is the last chapter I wrote," he coughs and looks down at the papers, "after I got back from the Inquisition." 'After you died' she hears.

He reads it to her and she cries a little, because he'd given them a sort of happily ever after they'd never had the chance for. She feels ancient in that moment, though she's not yet thirty-five. Varric's voice is rough when he finishes and closes the book, tossing it on the table across from them.

"So the hero doesn't always have to die," she says, pleased when her voice comes out even and teasing, as she'd intended.

"No." Varric says with more feeling than she'd expected, though really she should have known better by now.

Hawke finishes her bath before standing, Varric handing her a towel and her robe after she's dried off. They walk to her bedroom where he's set himself up, and she feels the warmth in her chest spread to the rest of her body.

She pulls on smalls and finds that her clothes are still in the dresser drawer she reaches for, and doesn't know whether that's more sad or sweet. She decides not to think about it too hard as she climbs into bed on the other side of Varric, and curls up on his chest in a way she hasn't done since the early days in his suite at the Hanged Man, before Anders and -- and everything.

It's quiet for a long time, and they just hold each other. For Hawke it's been hours since Adamant, but for Varric and the rest of the world it's been an entire year. She can't imagine what Varric and her other friends have gone through.

"I'm retired," she finally says quietly, and she smiles as she feels the rumble and shake of Varrics chest-deep laughter under her cheek. "I'm never leaving Kirkwall again."

"Good," Varric declares, "Once I'm Viscount I'll make you the Kirkwall Ambassador and you can help me clean up our city."

Hawke glances down and runs her fingers lightly across his Tethras family crest ring she'd found for him all those years ago. "Will that be my only title?"

Varric's breath catches only briefly before he's slipping the ring off his finger and onto hers. He clasps her hand in his and she can hear the smile in his voice, "If you want to attend those Merchant's Guild meetings in my place as Mrs. Tethras I'm not going to say no."

She laughs bright and loud, pushing herself up so she can see his face. One of her hands cups his cheek, brushing through the beard he's started growing and tugging a bit. "You're shaving this for the wedding, right? And what about Bianca?" She hadn't wanted to ask, but wouldn't have had peace of mind otherwise.

Varric rolls his eyes, "I'll shave. And it's just a crossbow, Marian." And he's tugging her down into a kiss that they both hope never ends.

Insatiable

In the big apple known for its flavors and culinary taste there was a renowned chef named Ethan. He had dedicated his entire life to perfecting the art of cooking and had earned the privilege of working in a prestigious five-star restaurant called “Aqui Comes”.

Outside the kitchen, Ethan had a loving girlfriend named Sophie. She was an intelligent, compassionate woman who supported him through the highs and lows of his life. However she was new to the picture. She doesnt’ know of his promiscuous past or should I say “tendencies”. But despite having such a loving partner, Ethan couldn't shake the feeling of dissatisfaction that loomed over him.

Ethan found himself continuously seeking attention and validation from other women online. It was an addiction that consumed him. He yearned for the thrill of new connections, never content with the love and stability Sophie offered. He justified his actions by convincing himself that he was simply exploring his “options”, searching for something more fulfilling. The hunger made him distracted from work even, he was not enjoying juggling two jobs and a relationship. How about that?

But deep down, Ethan's behavior stemmed from his own selfishness and inability to find happiness within himself. He was trapped in a cycle of craving constant attention and validation from other women-- forever seeking excitement without realizing the pain he was causing Sophie. She spent night after night alone--convinced he was working overtime at the restaurant. 

Pushing his early 40’s Ethan's actions turned more bitter and illusioned. He became jaded and developed a disdain for women, taunting younger ones with his experience and knowledge. It was a failed attempt to regain the power and control he felt he lacked.However he did all of this without realizing he was only fooling himself. He thought Sophie would always agree with him about his behavior. 

Though Sophie was hurt by Ethan's actions and the emotional void he continuously thrust upon her, she never stopped believing that he could change. Her love for him ran deep, and she thought that one day he might recognize the error of his ways.Ethan moved her into his penthouse and even met his family. He gifted her a promise ring, saying that he would always be there for her.

One evening, as Ethan found himself chatting with yet another woman online, Sophie stumbled upon the truth. She was contacted through Instagram via message from what seems to be a younger woman. The young lady seemed polite,respectful but also disturbed that she went out of her way to find Sophie through Ethan’s social media. The young lady goes by ‘Lu’ and she begins to send over receipts of screenshots of the intimate conversation Ethan had with her.  The pain was unbearable as Sophia discovered the depths of Ethan's betrayal, his disregard for their relationship. 

So what did she do? She confronted him, tears streaming down her face, packed her things and left. She didn’t get  nasty or loud, and she didn’t argue with him. When a man fails in his duties to a woman, she will fail in her loyalty and obligations. And she won't even care.

Most women are faithful by default. Women get emotionally attached and once they're satisfied they remain faithful. When a woman cheats, she just isn't satisfied.

Ethan believed he was entitled to his behavior. As Sophie walked away, heartbroken and defeated, Ethan remained unchanged, unable to fathom the consequences of his choices.

And so, time went on, with Ethan continuing his destructive patterns, never acknowledging the love he had lost. He cooked amazing meals, crafted exquisite dishes, and had immense recognition, but it brought him no joy, no fulfillment. He lived a life of visible success but hidden loneliness.

The years passed, and Ethan remained trapped within himself, collecting temporary moments of pleasure that left him empty and hollow. He never found the happiness he sought because he never looked within himself for it. And in his cold isolation, he failed to realize the beauty of true love and the potential for growth it carried.

And so, the story of Ethan, the renowned chef, continues, an eternal reminder of the consequences of selfishness and the inability to change. His life serves as a lesson to others, showing that even the most talented and accomplished individuals can spiral into the depths of dissatisfaction if they refuse to introspect and grow while also hurting others in the process. A pure reflection of our modern society and the consequence of playing both sides.

It's ok that you're asking, you just want to hear more opinions on that. I did see takes like this. What people ship is their thing, I can't change it, but I personally disagree with most of those because:

Firstly, Chat Blanc and Ephemeral worked perfectly until Gabriel ruined everything. It would literally have no negative effects to the current timeline what so ever if there wasn't for him. Even that scene when Adrien jumped to save Marinette from akuma and revealed his identity to Nathalie wouldn't have happened if Gabriel didn't tell Marinette that she is not good enough for his family just to make her feel negative emotions. And Ephemeral would've worked again if Gabriel didn't ruin it. It was his fault, I think that the fandom needs to understand this once and for all. He is the only one to blame and the first one who f*cked it up.

Oblivio also had nothing to do with them being together. They lost their memories and fell in love without any secret, barrier or anything between them (you know, the "you can't know each other's identities" rule that Master Fu put there for a reason), it was just them and they fell in love which didn't depend on the rest of the world, in the end everything was back the way it was and they forgot. They had to defeat the akuma. It doesn't mean that this is the way it should be, they were not happier this way, but this is the way it ended. I don't understand the criticism with this one. This episode not only ended the true selves discourse but also proved that Adrien and Marinette already unconsciously love each other. THEY FEEL IN LOVE IN TWO MINUTES, PEOPLE!

Desperada was about how they couldn't work together ONLY because Adrien couldn't stop flirting and they were distracted. I mean, is there ANYONE who can do the job successfully if they flirt all the time and let their mind run wild? Ladybug and Chat Noir love flirting during their mission but it's more playful and they are still professional. And Oblivio is the best example of them doing their job without flirting and focusing on the mission and they won. They were in love in Oblivio but they still got the job done. So it is possible. How else were they defeating Hawk Moth in Chat Blanc and Ephemeral timelines?

Kuro Neko... Wow! I have a feeling that 12 people actually understood the meaning of that episode. Actually 12 people understand this show in general. This fandom can be exhausting. I even wanted to write and analysis on Marinette/Ladybug's relationship with Chat Noir this season but I'll try to make it shorter now, I'll write it one day tho. If I remember correctly, Kuro Neko was opposite of Desperada. Marinette wasn't the one who chose Adrien for her partner, she didn't even consider Adrien in the first place, before remembering that she can't know Chat's identity. Again, the episode wasn't about them not being able to work together, but because they need to focus on work, not flirting. When Ladybug stopped thinking about Cat Walker she did the job with him perfectly. And it was about her proving her loyalty to Chat Noir and how much she missed him and Adrien going through identity crisis. Kuro Neko was the character development (more like awareness) for Marinette to realize why she works with Chat Noir better than with anyone else.

Strike Back mistake wouldn't have happened at all if there wasn't for Félix. Marinette wouldn't have been able to give the miraculous to Adrien because he was already Chat Noir. She would've had to find someone else, or maybe use the dog herself. Once again it's Adrien's family. It's not about Love Square at all. And if Adrien wasn't Chat Noir and she gave the miraculous to him, this mess would've been avoided, exactly because Félix wouldn't have been in the episode. And in the episode Ladybug DID want both Adrien and Chat Noir, which is her accepting "both sides" of him. Just like Kuro Neko was about Marinette understanding the importance of her partnership with Chat Noir, she embraced both him and Adrien now. So it's not a mistake because she wanted to give the miraculous to Adrien, it was just Félix, the same way Gabriel messed up Chat Blanc and Ephemeral.

And those comments about how Adrien will not be ok with dating a girl who arrested his father or Marinette not being ok with dating a son of a terrorist is funny because not only that Adrien would do the right thing as always, he knows his father ain't sh*t, the only reason he was conflicted was because of a chance to save his mom plus he saw his mom's corpse (!!!!) of course the kid was messed up! Of course he will rather put his father, who abused him, behind the bars and try to leave that part of his life behind him, than betray "the person he loves the most" and "the best part of his life". Gabriel is literally a man who abused Adrien his entire childhood... To have a problem dating a girl who saved the world? Lol. Plus she won't be so happy about Gabriel going to prison either exactly because of Adrien losing his father. And Marinette to have a problem dating Adrien? Lol! Adrien is literally NOTHING like his father, plus she out of all people would love to give anyone a second chance (even to Hawk Moth when she offered him a second chance in Heroes Day part two), and here she doesn't even have to give Adrien a second chance because it's not him who messed up, she's not going to go "eeewww it's my arch nemesis' son, gross", she's going to help Adrien move on. He literally has nothing to do with his father's crimes, plus Marinette knows Adrien will definitely not be happy with all that. Of course she'll hate Gabriel but there is no reason for her to dislike Adrien or feel uncomfortable being with him. Plus his family caused Marinette a lot of suffering too, so why would he hate her for imprisoning them? After all this time, Adrien's love for Ladybug is only growing stronger and Adrien's hatred for his family is also getting stronger so of course he will want her to be safe and people who hurt/abused both of them as far as possible. It's so out if character for them not to be in love anymore because of that.

People understand the episodes they way they want to, that's the thing with our fandom. It doesn't help that Thomas doesn't know how to explain them properly when someone asked him. We are really controversial when it comes to pretty much everything. Miraculous Ladybug is either horribly written or written so subtly that people write analyses on how well hidden every detail is. It's not the best, it has some flaws, but the fact that people can't understand a show so plain is unbelievable. But you can't change people's opinions. Everyone understands the episodes the way they want to. This is my understanding.

Part 1.

"World disaster"… I don't know why people call Gilbert that. However, the only thing I've heard is that it is.

Flashback begins.

If a pitch black tiger descends on the battlefield, victory or defeat will be decided at that moment.

The ever-conquering master would step on the ground, stomp his foot on the ground, and take everything with a fresh smile.

So don't ever, ever get close to him. If you find yourself on the same battlefield as Gilbert-sama, defeat will be confirmed at that moment…

Flashback end.

(But… I did it).

The sound was so strong I thought my heart might burst.

I am now on my knees before the "world disaster"… What's more, I woke up only recently.

Gilbert: You're up earlier than you thought, right?

Gilbert-san smiled cheerfully, stroking my hair.

Sweet, gentle, polite, like a lover - but there's no emotion in the blood-colored eyes close-up.

MC: I'm sorry!

I'm on my feet.

If I look closely, I can see that the twilight outside the window still surrounds me, and that I was unconscious for only a moment.

(That's the least I can do).

I remembered the relentless, violent force.

Gilbert: Watch your back, Bunny-san.

When I try to turn around, my head is pushed down hard.

Chevalier: Do you have nothing but flowers in your head?

MC: Sorry… No, I don't.

Chevalier: I don't give a damn what happens to you.

Chevalier-sama looked down at Gilbert-sama, holding my head in his hand.

Chevalier: But I don't get it.

Gilbert: Why do I make a mess with the little rabbit …? Do you want to be a part of this?

Chevalier: Yeah. Even if your goal is to expose her, you don't need to mess with her this much.

Chevalier: The quickest way is to scare the little rabbit with the time you just spent with her. It should be easy for you.

Chevalier: It's obvious there's another purpose, but why does it have to do with a little rabbit?

Gilbert: Why not just because I like it?

Gilbert: I'm like you, Chevalier.

Gilbert: The most important thing to focus on is whether or not it is in the national interest.

Gilbert: Bunny-san, there is no need to think about complicated things.

Gilbert: I just want to be friends with you, that's all.

(Gilbert-sama said he would not lie).

In other words, it may not be a lie, but... But I don't think he is telling the truth. Gilbert-sama's gentle words were thrown around for nothing.

It sounds like what's called "idle chatter."

(I'm pretty sure I'm biased, too).

Gilbert: I really wanted to make the little rabbit more familiar with me, but Chevalier got in the way. Too bad.

After a few moments, I realized as I breathed easier.

Having said that, Gilbert-sama gets up and, losing interest in me, leaves.

That night, with several knights waiting for me at the door, I crawled into bed.

I couldn't turn to face the balcony.

I was so sleepy before the evening, but now I can't sleep.

(..... I've been pleasuring myself since yesterday).

Flashback begins.

It was a cruel reality that happened right before my eyes.

To Chevalier-sama, who has shown his true nature as a cruel and merciless beast.

And to Gilbert-sama, a man with a kind face that is hard to read.

(....All I can think about is running away because I'm scared, and I'm going to hate myself for it.)

I pull the blanket over my head.

As I turned over in a fitful sleep, the other side of the door suddenly became noisy.

(Huh....?)

I got out of bed at about the same time that the person who had just burst into the room reached for me -----

The action takes place in a church.

Gilbert:  So? What's that poor little rabbit there wrapped up in a rope?

Part 3.

(Indeed, how could this happen?)

A man in a knight's uniform pushed me, tied with a rope and unable to move, to the floor. Next to me was a familiar maid.

I remember a man dressed as a knight bursting into my room. I was doused with some kind of chemical, and I only vaguely remember what happened next.

The next time I woke up, I was already tied up with ropes.

(Nevertheless, my head was still foggy).

I looked up and saw Gilbert-sama sitting uncomfortablyat the altar in the chapel, looking down at us.

Knight(?): Here are our "results".

(....! So you're saying it was Gilbert who ordered my abduction?)

Blood colored eyes are sleepy, even though they are restrained. 

Although he said he wouldn't lie, it looks like that in itself was a lie.

(Not that I believe it, but it sucks.)

(Even if....)

(What was the purpose of my kidnapping...?)

Gilbert: Good job...

As always, smiling Gilbert-sama approached us. In his hands he was removing his cane.

*sound of thumping*

Knight(?): Oh.

Gilbert: Bunny-san, are you all right?

Gilbert-sama gently lifts me up and begins to untie me.

Gilbert: Where does it hurt?

MC: .... I'm fine....

Gilbert: Yes, thank God.  If you get hurt, some tiger won't be able to keep quiet.  Gilbert: Sure, me too.

(What do you mean?)

Gilbert-sama, who untied my rope, pointed to the exit.

Gilbert: Go get the others.

MC: ......

Gilbert: Rhodolite has its own rules.

Gilbert: Because I can't give you a private sentence.

MC:.....

Gilbert: You think there's more to it than that?

MC: ..... and?...

Gilbert: But unfortunately, I can't live up to your expectations.

Gilbert: Because right now I'm just a guy who's in a bit of a bad mood because a potential friend was treated poorly.

What is a lie and what is the truth?

The people surrounding Gilbert-sama clearly wanted to do me harm, but they were not willing to do so. I wonder if it was really Gilbert's own wish.

I was starting to hate myself more and more for not being able to trust even the kindness that was being shown to me right now.

MC: I'll go get someone.

Gilbert: I don't mind that you're so understanding.

Season Three

I made some posts on Tapas about this but I guess some people missed them, so the confused people in that crew, here is a screenshot of an explanation:

The original plan was to draw the entirety of season two before scheduling it all to post. But a handful of episodes in I got caught up in something else and by the time I had time to work on it again, I just couldn't. I tried and tried but I really just could not get back into it.

So continuing in my promise, here is season three:

Super watermelon island

Garnet sees Malachite surfacing on Mask Island so they go there and ambush her. Peridot stays behind to work on the drill and Rose volunteers to supervise her. Alexandrite defeats Malachite. Jasper is lost in the ocean again and Lapis is brought home, passed out.

Gem drill

Same plot but replace Steven with Rose.

Same old world

Lapis wakes up and Amethyst helps her process what she went through and finds a new home for her (similar plot but Amethyst has a different approach cause of her personality). She chooses the barn.

Barn mates

Peridot insists the barn belongs to her because she’s already been using it. Lapis insists it was promised to her even though Amethyst never actually said that and doesn’t own the barn in the first place. Amethyst decides this is going to be hilarious and makes popcorn. She soon realizes she’s too close to it for it to be funny so goes to solve the problem, but it’s harder than she anticipated. It generally follows the same plot though. The red eye shows up at the end and lapis flicks it.

Hit the diamond

Steven floats

Rose learns she can float.

Too short to ride

TBH the same but replace Steven with Rose.

The new lars

Rose wakes up in the middle of the night in Pearl’s body. Terrified, she shakes herself awake, which triggers the switch back. Pearl wakes up groggy and asks Rose why she’s awake. She says she had a bad dream and they go back to sleep.

Beach city drift

The cool kids invited Lars to a party and he’s bragging about it. When Pearl and Amethyst show interest, Lars says little kids aren’t allowed. They fuse and try to keep Opal stable so they can attend the party.

Monster reunion

Rose figures out that she does, in fact, have healing powers. She’s sure it’s a Diamond thing, but thankful as heck it’s also a Rose Quartz thing. Rose says she should try and heal one of the monsters and Pearl says she should do corrupted Rose Quartz. Once CRQ is half healed, it’s the same plot switching Steven for Pearl. We get to learn about the Crystal Gems’ demise. They were fighting at the beach and where Beach City would eventually be built. A Quartz fusion chucked the warp pad to prevent further backup from arriving. Rose notices a Nephrite receiving orders to retreat and looks up to see the diamond attack. The warp pad lands on the Nephrite. Rose doesn’t have a means to protect her friends(sword instead of shield), so they all succumb to the attack. (exit flashback) Rose runs to the temple, but can’t get in. Pearl lets her in. Pink Rose is in there like “wat happen why.” (Maybe CRQ finds something in the chest? IDK where to go from here.)

Alone at sea

Peridot is sad because Lapis is sad and she can’t figure out how to make not sad so she asks Garnet for help. Garnet takes Lapis into the ocean and does her best to show her more of the beauty of Earth. Lapis is finally starting to cheer up when Jasper sneaks up on them and begs on her knees to become Malachite again. Lapis tells her no and makes her leave. Garnet and Lapis go home wary.

Greg the babysitter

Sour Cream is excited because his baby brother is being born today. The gems are like what is a baby. We learn that gems don’t start out quite that small. They theorize that since humans only incubate for 9 months, they don’t develop as far. Gems incubate for years. They come out as 5-year-olds ish. Then Connie wonders if gems were to incubate for a very long time, would they form as adults? The gems laugh at such an idea. :^)

Gem hunt

Connie is getting very good at being close to danger even though she can’t fight or anything, so when she hears the gems are going to the frozen North, she insists on tagging along to supervise. The gems think that’s stupid but they aren’t gonna say no to Mom. Connie and Garnet get separated from Pearl, Amethyst, and Rose. While separated, Connie actually helps Garnet take out one of the beasts. Pearl, Amethyst, and Rose encounter Jasper, who poofs their beast and walks off menacingly as Connie and Garnet find them. (Rose summons her shield for the first time when trying to protect her teammates)

Crack the whip

Amethyst loses a sparring match to Pearl for the first time and is super self conscious about it.

Steven vs amethyst

Amethyst internalizes the problem instead of confronting Pearl.

Bismuth (This is out of order. Should happen before Monster Reunion)

Rose asks why she doesn’t have a room in the temple yet and the gems are like yeah that’s chill we have another spot go for it. She makes her room and to her surprise there’s already stuff in it. The other gems are like yeah there were a few things in our rooms too. We think they’re left over from the previous owners. Stuff like swords and relics. But Rose has some peculiar items in her room. There’s a chest, a sword, a flag, and a bubble. Rose likes the sword and wants to use it in battle.

Beta

Amethyst still feels like shit so Rose takes her to Peridot and Peridot takes them to the beta kindergarten. Same plot.

Earthlings

We find out that even though Jasper was originally made for Yellow, since she was young when PD emerged she was actually training to be given to Pink.

Back to the moon

Same plot mostly. The other gems hear for the first time (from the rubies) that Pink Diamond was shattered on Earth. ‘Who would do such a thing?’ It was a Rose Quartz. All eyes on Rose. Not having planned for this, she panics and runs downstairs. Pearl says she’ll talk to her since she’s closest to her and asks the other to continue helping the rubies without her.

Bubbled

Pearl talks to Rose about what they’re going to tell the others. They decide Rose was bubbled and when Pink returned to Earth in search of her Pearl, she released Rose. Rose asked who she was and she told her she’s a Diamond. Rose is a Crystal Gem so she identified her as a threat and took the opportunity to strike. Soon the others return but their cover (pretending to be homeworld gems for the rubies) is blown at the last second. Rose opens the airlock to blow them into space and one of them grabs her, trying to pull her with them, but she escapes the ruby’s grasp safely.

Sometimes, when I pause in the middle of an episode, Crunchyroll will take it upon myself to say I finished it and start me on the next one. Usually, I catch this and go back. Usually I'm not in this much pain. This particular time I was, and so I didn't realize I had missed anything until I was going back to collect a screenshot that came out wrong.

No, I mean, really look at them. Study the moment, take it all in. Because I'm going to need someone here to explain to me what is SUPPOSEDLY happening here. I mean, without a doubt, I know what is actually happening, but for the life of me I can't think of how to describe this moment that doesn't boil down to, "obviously cause they want to bang" and somehow I doubt that is what they were going for.

Here, let me lead you through this:

As we have discussed, there is a party happening. Everyone is enjoying themselves in their own little ways: Franky is behaving like a mech to entertain the fairies, Zoro is drinking, Bartolomeo is following Zoro around with more drinks, Luffy is just a bouncing ball of food, Law is standing alone off to the side glaring out into the middle distant. So everyone is having their own fun.

Zoro, apropos of nothing, walks over to Law to talk to him.

Okay..

Weird.

This isn't Luffy or Franky or even Robin. Zoro doesn't just go talk to people. So far we have seen every other Strawhat at this gathering dancing or talking or laughing with someone. The only people Zoro has interacted with are people with bottles of alcohol they want to share with him.

You guys, Law does not have a bottle of alcohol.

So why has the least social member of the Strawhats purposefully sought him out? By the way, "come here?" Oh you sweet innocent sunflower. Why not just open with, "Torao! Hey Torao! Laaaw, come here! I want to hang off you out!"

[Oh you bet your ass we will be going through this scene shot by shot.]

At which point Zoro squats down, and even though it's not his "fly into the sky and cut him up!!!" smile, there is definitely more than a small hint of "danger approaching" to that grin, like he's trying to decide what to do with his prey.

Law doesn't look overly happy about any of this and has clearly decided the best policy is just to ignore Zoro. Let's see how that goes for him.

Every single thing about these pictures is perfect. From Law completely losing his mask of dark seriousness, to Zoro's smile going from over the top, clearly laughing his ass off at Law's reaction, to a slightly more dangerous but still brilliant 'got you now' once Law falls into his lap.

You know that moment in the second from the top. That moment where LAW FALLS INTO ZORO'S LAP?

And finally, my boy's just honestly smiling, having apparently achieved his goal of getting Law in his lap having Law on top of him forcing Law to join in, I guess.

I mean, look at his face! That's not a maniacal grin, isn't leering at him the way he does when he sees something he really wants to cut into pieces. He's not beaming in that way that shows all his teeth and means he's reallying messing with/laughing at you, nor is it his smug victory smirk, the one that means he's already won but still looks preditory for some reason. That is just an honest, happy smile.

For Law.

If Drum island suddenly experienced months of 90° weather it still couldn't represent how much I'm melting inside from that.

Not too mentioned Law's look of total shock. I don't think he's even actually struggling, you guys. I mean, Zoro's strong but not so strong his mere presence prevents the Op-Op fruit from working. I honestly think Law is just freaked out because he's forgotten what physical contact with other humans is like unless he is either actively fighting them. Look at his eyes. They have gone completely BSoD. He has no fucking clue what is happening or why it has to be happening to him.

No wait you guys it somehow keeps getting better!

Because Zoro just sitting there, holding onto Law for like two minutes, smiling and laughing and, okay, sure clearly a little drunk but absolutely having a great time. The only thing that manages to pull his attention off Law for even a second is when he's offered more alcohol and you guys?

Guys, he doesn't even react to the offer of free alcohol immediately!

[Law's face says he either knows he's in trouble if Zoro keeps drinking or he knows he's in trouble that Zoro didn't immediately give him up for more alcohol.]

And of course Law is still completely frazzled. "Why is Zoro-ya touching me where not in a fight right now and he's acting all friendly is he planning some kind of sneak attack? No this is Zoro-ya he thrown himself off a mountain to fight another mountain but he's still holding me and acting friendly and arg I cannot handle this what is happening!?"

I love how Law is angling his body as if he's scared of leaning back and actually Ohmigod touching Zoro, but at the same time, making non real effort to escape. Honestly, watch the gif. The boy doesn't even push, really

He's basically sitting there, not trying to get away, but feelings horribly nervous and desperately trying not to lean against Zoro.

Basically, this is what my gay brain sees: You know when you like a girl (or guy) but you're both pretty quiet and shy (or silent and badass serious) plus, you know, you're both dealing with a lot what with almost being murdered and taking down an evil regimen. So there is no way you'd ever ask them out or anything.

But then, miracle of miracles, you both live! Everyone lives! And there's a huge celebration with food and drinks and even more drinks and you are a goddamn sword heddghog who defeat a mountain so people keep filling your cup and the you notice the cute emo boy sitting all alone looking so grim even though you guys won! And you're just tipsy enough to think yourself, fuck it, no one that hot should be alone all night so you go over and without thinking about it, grab him and pull him over to your lap.

And you know when you're really not good with people and ha e this reputation for being dark and broody and even in the middle of a party it doesn't feel normal to relax after years of constantly thinking about revenage. Then suddenly a bit guy has you in your arms and it's super embarrassing because you have no idea what to do and know your going to humiliate yourself and just want to get out there but he just keeps his (really musclar, warm) arm curled around you feel you have to protest the manhandling even thought you aren't sure why?

I mean if I had to take a random stab at what these guys were thinking.

I mean, I assume that the official explanation probably has some perfectly innocent heterosexual justification as to why the less sociable Strawhat absolutely had to pull Law in for an impromptu snuggles session but fuck if I can see it through all the gay.

Quick, someone with a straight brain, please explain to me what is happening in this scene!

Because otherwise every time I see the two of them interact after this, I'm gonna be forced to assume that canonically speaking, Zoro struck out with Law.

This is the single greatest moment ever.

We got into topic of me watching you sleep and my screenshots of you. You should rly know by know tht every phone call we have I take it as an opportunity to take pictures of you even when ur asleep, you dummy. I have a whole album titled 'Wepe' full of your face and my foolish reaction on the side. I even got screen recordings of you but it doesn't record the audio cos we're on a call.

I have ths habit of watching people when their eyes are closed. I find it comforting. I do it to the people I care about. My family is a given, my brother, cousins, babies I took care of.. Even when I was younger, I'd remember some of my friends who took a nap on my lap on the field or slept on my shoulder while in a bus ride or dozing off in a class, I would look at their face with full content then slightly caress their face and run my fingers on their hair. Sometimes whisper random words idk if they'd hear, kiss their forehead and rest my head on theirs. I dream one day you will get to feel my pure, innocent and affectionate things I do to the people I love. Maybe then. Just maybe. Maybe you will believe me then.
