Ughhhh the tension in chapter 3 of what the heart wants was *chef kiss* stunning! I absolutely loved the flashback to their first meeting that you gave us- the fact he didn’t know that her mom had a daughter until this, how his confidence and presence almost engulfed their apartment to the point it was just him and her under his shadow. I also love the detail of his shock but also his assumption she’ll take his hand and melt like her mom, only to be met with something even more curious and unique- resistance, distaste even. Her world is breaking and shattering (you had such beautiful imagery there describing her emotional state seeing him) while his is opening to this new curiosity, something unexpected.

I also adored the subtle words he let slip loose in this chapter- how her mom looked like her, but just not quite enough. She’s too emotional to hear the underlying meaning in the words- how when seeing his dead wife’s portrait his only words are comparing her to his stepdaughter- as if that’s all he thought of was her even while looking at his dead wife. She’s so filled with grief and guilt- battling desire between wanting to be cared for, having a family, and the reluctant admittance of her finding him attractive. Then the fact he’s sent the boys off for three days so she can’t use them as a barrier to him- can’t ignore him. I loved seeing his restraint and tightly won control break a little to the point he blurs things out- his composure breaking at her living state, at wanting her to work for him and stay close where he can see her and care for her. The hesitant touches- that he wants to do so badly but is unsure if she’ll allow them. It’s a game of chess- yet there’s perfect moments where his composure just snaps but she’s too grief stricken and overwhelmed to analyze it. also the subtle hints about her moms death being something slightly odd and unclear for how it happened. And the fact she subtly hints but won’t admit she’s been watching sylus just as much as he does her- knowing his boxing routines, the subtle changes of his expression and face, etc. it’s all so brilliant and I love you!

now, due to my keeping much of the story’s ‘meat’ under wraps rn for this very crucial beginning portion, i cant offer my full thoughts on this sadly.. i know y’all are tired of my ass, my bad 😭 but soon we’ll get to a point where i can talk a lil more freely i promise!! ♡♡ however i will say that you hit the nail on the head with lots of it!!!! 👀 your observations are amazing just like your other ask, and i am genuinely so glad that y’all seem to be picking up what i’m laying down LOL. even if readers can’t always put a finger on some of the ambiguous shit going on (which is kinda how it’s supposed to be: because iceberg theory and whatever) i just hope that u at least still sense the clearly off vibes and react accordingly to them 👀 which i think is working so far lol!!! things will fall into place inevitably

this series is definitely kinda freaky (being a yandere stepdad fic and all lmao 😭) and the build-up is a major slowburn, but it makes my lil writer so happy that you guys seem to be enjoying the story & ruminating on it….. i hope it’ll be a fun ride for us both 💗
