#my art#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#fushiguro megumi#jjk fanart#megumi fushiguro#i LOVE trying to 1:1 art styles it's such a fun challenge#and it appeals to me bc i love deception and lying for sport and trying 2 mold all aspects of myself in2 something else#trying to draw like gege felt like trying 2 forge someone's signature and trying 2 draw like the anime felt like going against all instinct#theres NO midtones in the anime shading i was like. is this it. surely this cant b All the shadows i am allowed#cell shading without blended areas feels so wrong 2 me#and the shape of his hair.....he looks so silly......why does he look like that.....#i was fighting the urge to 'fix' it w every bone in my body#rly opened my eyes to just how many favours i do him in my art style#i will happily bear the burden of being megumi's hairbrush good god he needs it#it's not so egregious in gege's style bc it's all so blocky and angular everywhere + the b/w balances out w negative space#w trying 2 replicate gege's style i think my main challenge was finding a good brush dupe to mimic his crosshatching#my current render style is all over the place tbh im not even sure i'm super happy with my own which is kinda embarrassing#i think im in an in between phase that's neither smooth nor rough so i try to lean in2 the messiness to make it look intentional#instead of confused#but overall i think i did rly well in that i like these all ok and i had fun smile :)#maybe ill do th other first years

Columbo and the Knight (1984)
put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

#umineko#umineko spoilers#ikuko hachijo#ikukos turn for a more serious piece... the old man has reigned for too long#now. INCREDIBLY LONG INCOHERENT TAGS RANT INCOMING FAIR WARNING HAS BEEN GIVEN:#it makes me so so sad how little discussion there is about specifically ikuko because imho she fits so neatly into a lot of the more#overarching Big Themes of the game in a way that i have not ever really seen people take notice of or point out in a meaningful way#like even just off of the top of my head. the significance of names and what it means to go by a name that's Not Yours (she has like 4+)#what it Means to be a witch how it represents a person's deepest insecurities and flaws & how its at its core a coping mechanism#the fact that it takes two to create a universe and trying to do it on your own anyways has the capacity to bring you intense misery#^ (how she's shown to be extremely dismissive of her own work and skill until a collaborator comes into her life and helps/encourages her)#and even the family/patriarchy/misogyny stuff that is so prevalent in the rest of the game comes back around to her. even her Only Friend#(young&stupid atp to be fair) remarks that shes Weird for being unmarried + the little she does say about her past invites the question of#to what extent her self-image stems from her family deeming her a freak outcast & effectively disowning her while celebrating her brothers#and i have lot in my mind about the witch thing specifically because i think her particular situation is very reflective of what umineko's#entire magic system and fantasy facet as a whole is meant to represent for an individual. from what little we see of (what is presumably)#her Real personality she is shown to be deeply self conscious in a way that is JARRINGLY diametrically opposed to both 1.) what we see in#featherine and 2.) what we see when she is acting as a Public Figure. because both of the above are very much purposeful acts that she is#putting on in order to obfuscate her true self. and i have always been very resolute & adamant about not totally equating her to featherine#not only because im very firmly in the camp of “featherine is the avatar of the Pen Name & tohya is part of her too” but also very much b/c#i feel very strongly that the stark differences between the two are very centrally relevant to her character & her psyche. as is the case#with most other witches featherine's personality traits serve to reveal/magnify a lot of ikukos inner workings by playing on her#insecurities/reversing them e.g. ikuko being very quick to downplay her skill/achievements becomes featherine being the COMPLETE opposite#to the point where she barely registers even other witches as living beings rather than just fun touys. BUT even though i do champion the#ikuko/featherine separation so hard i ALSO think it is purposefully relevant that at first glance the line between them seems so blurry#her introduction implying a more nebulous separation between her reality/fantasy counterpart is i think is an intentional move on her part#like it is part of the front she is putting up when acting as the Author. as opposed to Ikuko the person who we (in a way ironically very#similar to the way that the Real Battler is presumably only shown during the boatscene) only very briefly get to see take up screentime#which even on a meta level lines up very well with her apparent underlying nature as a like. extremely private largely reserved/shy person#hit tag limit but if by some miracle anyone is still reading this thank you... please see ikuko with the love she deserves... ok ily byeee

it's finally done, and it's probably the gooiest garbage i'll ever make.
credit to my new buddy @i-love-tdp-if-you-can-tell for doing almost all the characters' flat colors!! i am so so so infinitely thankful to them bc otherwise none of the other efforts of making this would have happened. between the lineart, backgrounds, shading, and touch-ups, these five pages have taken years off numerous braincells' lifespans, and without their help, may have annihilated my entire brain capacity.

anaxa is actually such an incredibly deeply passionate lover (both in a romantic sense and his general care for others). he just doesn’t let himself ruminate on it for very long at all and deludes himself into thinking he is acting 100% out of reason whereas he’s actually such an emotionally motivated person; and when he cares about somebody, he cares with his whole heart and body and soul and whatever. he’s just very good at performing, so he fools everyone about that fact, including himself; he’s caught up in his own facade.
#and this is WHY#i need to write that emotional wreck anaxa#because it’s so delicious and basically just him coming to terms with what actually motivates him and lies at the core of his principles#i don’t mean to say that his pursuit of truth is superficial or that he doesn’t truly value it#but i do think people come first and foremost for him#and then the way he acts on that motivator is through using reason (this is very hume isn’t it)#which#(to draw a comparison between him and reader because i am incapable of resisting)#contrasts with socrates!reader who is sort of the flip side in every way#(1) their primary focus is ACTUALLY the pursuit of knowledge#and although they value others deeply they are ultimately secondary to that goal#which is one of the reasons they actually withhold from throwing themselves into a proper relationship with anaxa#but they are aware of this reasoning and that brings me to (2)#(2) they are not deluding themselves and are very clear about where their priorities lie#so in a way#anaxa comes off colder and unapproachable but actually cares ‘deeper’ (in a way) than the reader#who is polite and amicable (sort of) but in a way ‘colder’ when it comes to prioritising people vs their goal#what can i say they balance each other out#socrates!reader#anaxa x reader

#theon greyjoy#poor sad lady hornwood#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#a song of ice and fire#two details that made me go :O : 1) a member of House Hornwood comes between Jaime and Theon at the WWoods battle#(that is probably not intentional but still) 2) Theon's first comment about Lady Hornwood is a mean remark about her looks#because you know he couldn't have any empathy for anyone back then as he thought it would be perceived as weakness#BUT in his FIRST Dance chapter he thinks about her. And her pain. So it DID linger in his mind.#I am fascinated by his parallels to the background female characters in his storyline; it's so well done and subtle

y'know... i don't often like thinking back to that time, but i just had a thought.
what if schneider's statement wasn't just that? ofc he did address the things that were going on at the time, but part of me feels it's something more. he never explicitly said these words, but what if his statement was a quiet plea for till to come home?
come home... the sun shines over eichwalde. we're all enjoying the warm weather eating watermelon. olli is hosing you down like a dog as he eats. we are all young and happy.
come home... as i put on a purple bra i watch as you and paul wrap your dicks in duct tape. we're calling it "ficken2000." "am arsch hangt der hammer!" we all exclaim. jonathan davis is gonna be so confused, but we're doing it together and that's all that counts.
come home... you're laughing on set as my face starts to melt. we've been performing with these prosthetics and suits for a while, it's only natural they start to wear a bit. but we laugh and laugh as i try to fix it.
come home... i'm in your dressing room tapping my sticks on my lap. you sternly call out for me to stop, you can't concentrate. i devilishly and playfully ignore your request. later, you're waving the german flag around as loud as you can as i speak to the camera. i guess that's the law of equivalent exchange! 😅

will never get over the bitter irony of how my older sister got me into anime and manga as a kid and then when i was 13 and she found out i was having trans thoughts she put parental locks on my laptop that blocked me from being able to access any anime or manga sites. because she thought they made me transgender
#i joke about how ranma 1/2 made me trans but actually there was years between and no real connection#i just get so mad when i think about my sister sometimes. girl i was 13 and no one ever gave me any chance to explain#or made me feel safe doing so#thank god she lives on the other side of the country so i rarely have to see her#but shes visiting next month and im always scared shes going to say im a bad influence for existing as transgender around her kids#like it makes me feel sick how real of a possibility that is#girl i hope none of your kids turn out queer only so they wont have you as a mother

rewatched Kurogiri's holiday story from ultra impact (not related to sketch at all)

#fanart#sketch#my art#bnha#shigaraki tomura#tenko shimura#kurogiri#I cried a bit while playing it I missed the classic LoV I missed Kurogiri WITH the LoV it's been so long :(#and it feels like last chapter (423 atm) broke the seal of sketching them as anything but something static#it took me two or so days to just understand that Kurogiri is... yeah#I can't believe it took Horikoshi so long to bring him back but as I said and will say it again I glad it happened at all#after some thought I just want to sit with the chapters#anyway getting the preordered book was so much fun#it was full of LoV from Toga and Dabi talking about her house to Tenko being upset over being told that he doesn't have friends#and everything in-between basically only Compress left to join in the next volume#I think????#I actually want to get another one already they're so goodddd#and the translation sounds pretty good but I checked some pages not the whole book it'll be boring#it's actually so weird to think that I started a goal of reading the whole series ad it was now officially coming out like this back in 201#and now it's 2024 and the translation is pretty much ahead of anime and maybe it'll be faster than viz volumes too#since it's 2 in 1 basically - I think it's really great since I save some money but get LoV chapters every time#because they appear every 2 books at the start of the series and back then it was hard for me to get them#but I felt content seeing all the books that I bought when I was visiting family for holidays this month because there are so many of them#and I don't need any wi-fi or internet in general to read them back to back now with an addictional volume#they have some mistakes but I don't mind them it feels good to just hold all of them (and a bit heavy after like 8 books) and now it's 18
