not a plot bunny per se, but i keep thinking abt lake mer coalitions, and then i started thinking it would be fun to make an au with like explicitly a guy as the MC, so he and lake!mer sun, moon and possibly also balloon world/fanon eclipse could form a lake mer coalition

like the guy lives on a houseboat in a large lake system, he's obviously a nomadic guy like us! and he's kinda cute, he could help us snag humans! (and we like him) and we can help him snag waterfolk with us, ayyyy 👉👉

imagine, a group of random humans taking beers at some lakeshore cafe/pub and this guy swaggers up from the docks and starts talking to them. and you know, the guy's pretty cute, there's some casual flirting, eventually the guy invites the group to hang out on his houseboat with his buddies. turns out the buddies are mers, whoa??? and flirty, too. and they keep wingmanning each other, the guy and the mers. :'''D

and vice versa: sun, moon and eclipse getting some waterfolk cutie to come over to the houseboat and basically cheering on their buddy the whole time and ideally also getting in on the action

and then of course sometimes the guy and the mers get a bit frisky with each other by themselves, because why not?

the idea is very much that they, the trio/quartet, are a stable unit, they're committed to each other, and they just go around... fucking around, ideally. trying to snag cuties, and if some cuties want to do them all, that's even better.

and! the funny thing is. because this mc would also interact with waterfolk in similar ways to the wlb mc, he'd also get some of the same minor body horror that i have in store for wlb mc :')
