i said i was going to talk about eddie + the magnetic fields specifically the song andrew in drag ... so here we are.

honestly heres the thing. eddie kaspbrak would LOVE the magnetic fields and you know the song andrew in drag would hit him like a freight train. my take is this ... eddie listens to the song and pines away after richie and one day richie does end up going to a drag show and dresses up with the rest of the losers and he plays it off as a joke and a one time thing and eddie is taken apart because its just like stephen merritt foretold........and he listens to that song over and over wishing that richie saw him the way eddie sees richie. like “the only boy i’d anything is andrew in drag” “if i could spend my misspent youth with andrew in drag” “i’ll pine away forevermore for andrew in drag” LIKE HELLO? also richie wouldn’t even have a girlfriend but eddie would listen to “your girlfriends face” and go feral. if i had the time i would connect reddie to every single magnetic fields song they ever released in their long beautiful discography but theres no denying that andrew in drag would take eddie’s spine like a mortal kombat fatality and whip him around by it all until he bursts and tells richie he loves him because he cant bottle it up anymore and he’s like I’ll Do It For Stephen. and anyway of course richie loves him back. but prior to that the magnetic fields would be eddie’s go to pining band he would listen to them on his bed and get incredibly angsty about it ... and it makes me die
