I'm a crotchety "Origins best Dragon Age" person too but like... if 2/3 games in the series have a specific vibe I feel like it's a bit... stupid... to expect the fourth game in the series to suddenly become Origins again. That's just not what the series is now, for better or worse.

Washed Ashore; Chapter 1 - Villain Blues
Platonic Sonic Boom x Ex-Villain!Reader.
Washed Ashore Masterlist
Yet another boring day of lying down on the warm sand of a beach begins with a gorgeous sunset, like they always do. One would think living on a what is practically a paradise island would be, well, paradise, but after the first two weeks the repeating patterns have already grown rather dull. In the end, all there is to do was watch the swooshing waves wash away small rocks and sticks from the shore.
Maybe the waves are washing away your life as well.
With a sigh you sit up in the sand, restlessly drawing patterns into the ground with your foot. Various different schemes emerge from the depths of your brilliant, strategical mind, yet a nagging voice from another corner reminds you of the consequences putting the plans into motion would have. Your eyes narrow and the leg drawing patterns into the sand comes to a halt as your resolve shakes. As much as you would like to remain civilized to keep your friends, there is simply nothing you can do, and if you have to sit here for a second longer, you will probably explode.
However, the moment you shoot up to stand and to scramble to your evil lair, (which the uncultured would refer to as a basement) you nearly run straight into a combination of shades of pink. You skid against the sand and deflate. "Hi, Amy..."
"Hello, (Name)!" She greets with a cheerful smile before crossing her arms, a smug expression overtaking her face. "That sudden burst of energy you got over there was just a bit strange... you weren't planning on doing anything mischievous or evil, were you?"
You let out an exasperated sigh. "Yeah, so? You caught me in the act. But how is it my fault when there's absolutely nothing to do here?"
"There's plenty to do here!" Amy counts the things that come to mind on her fingers. "Playing beach ball, taking care of flowers, knitting, baking, eating at Meh Burger- okay, maybe it's not responsible of me to recommend that- swimming, surfing-"
"Okay, okay, okay!" You wave your hands in front of your face to get her to stop. "I get your point. But the problem is, I've already done all of those things!"
"Well, then you know what stuff you like the best and can choose from those!"
"Yeah, but none of them bring me the same amount of entertainment as coming up with evil plots!" You cannot fight off the smallest, most childish pout from rising to your face.
"Are you sure? Knitting be very engaging in the right company-"
"You mean company that doesn't laugh at me when I fail at cross-stitching?" You deadpan.
"Okay, maybe that was a bit rude of me, but you looked so adorably frustrated then!" Amy interlaces her fingers, fawning at the memory.
"And you gotta remember, that was right after you'd decided to redeem yourself, so you looking cute instead of threatening was totally new to us!"
Your lips twist into a frown. "Just rub it in, why don't you... no one will respect me anymore..."
"That's not true!"
"Yes, it is! Instead of cowering and running away in fear, people just boo nowadays! I should just become a villain again to make them REGRET-"
"(Name)! Remember your anger management exercises!"
You glare at her at first for interrupting you, but eventually just sigh at her pleading face and breathe like she instructed you to do. Like practiced, you take deep breath in through the mouth, which you hold at the top before letting it out through the nose.
"Alright, there we go! That's perfect," she praises, "you were the best student my meditation class!"
"And the only one..."
"Don't sweat the details!" She slams a hand on your back and unintentionally knocks the wind out of your lungs. "Anyway! Even if you don't think there are any non-evil or -destructive things that are fun, I'll help you find something that sets your heart on fire!"
"My heart only burns for arson and destruction of private property." You examine your fingernails like a diva, throughly unconvinced. Then you yelp at a sudden tug forward.
Amy grabbed your hand to pull you with her as she runs. "You'll see! By the end of the day, we'll definitely have found something even you find entertaining!"
You hold back a groan and roll your eyes, this is going to be yet another long day.
And you are right, the day is shaping out to be unreasonably long. Hours upon hours have passed since Amy dragged you into trying new things, and all you gain from it is aching ears from playing the trumpet and a sore body from running among other physical activities. Yet even after all of that effort, not one activity sparks any sense of achievement or joy within you like villainy did.
"Okay, so competitive dog grooming was a bust too, but we still haven't tried cheese rolling or trampoline wall dancing! We could also try soap carving! Maybe even extreme ironing..." Amy's rambling fades out in your ears as you sigh.
With hands shoved into your pockets, you drag your feet behind her. Her desire to help may warm your chest, but that does not shake away the empty feeling of being a lost cause. Each failed attempt at finding enjoyment within hobbies considered acceptable convinces you further that the villain life is the only kind you are suited for living. You were a natural since the very beginning of your career with the schemes, the menacing laughs, the taunts and the revenge plots, mostly made against-
"Oh, hey! Look at this!" Amy's squeal snaps you out of your thoughts. "Sonic is taking sidekick applications! How amazing is that!"
"Uh, didn't he already have a sidekick or something..?"
"Oh, I'm sure Tails is fine with this! They're best friends, of course Sonic wouldn't do anything that would upset him!" She snatches the poster off from the tree. "And hey, maybe you should apply too!"
"Why?"
"Well, it could help you and Sonic get closer together as friends! You'd also get more accustomed to hero work, since it is pretty different from villain stuff. But!" Amy turns to face you dramatically. "It also has a lot of action, just like villainy!"
"I don't know, Amy. I'm not really feeling up to it," you mutter, "you can go, but I'm taking a break from all this stuff. My neck is still sore from falling off that trapeze."
"That's okay! Just come talk to me if you get any ideas or feel like doing anything!" Amy smiles with determination. "In the meantime, I'm gonna go and ace that job interview!"
She runs off to her house to get prepared, leaving you standing alone in the sand. With a breath you sit down in the sand again, back to square one, exactly where you started the day. You try to draw patterns but cannot come up with any ideas. After that you dabble in the forbidden hobby of evil schemes again, but even that leaves you with a sour taste in your mouth. All you really can do is sigh and wonder if it is an attitude problem on your part.
Maybe if you put more energy in, you could have actually found something enjoyable. The entire day you let yourself get dragged with the mindset that you possibly could not like any of those hobbies as much as you enjoyed being a villain. Even if you found something good, that probably would have prevented you from enjoying it anyway. And even though you did not find anything, you could have at least tried to have fun for Amy's sake. She tried so hard to create a fun experience for you, only for you to actively disregard all of her efforts.
You let go of your arms, which you had gripped in your frustration, and stand up. I should go apologise for being such a buzzkill.
The rational assumption to make is that she is getting interviewed. However, what you walk into is an otherwise empty shack, with the exception of three people staring at you expectantly.
"Congratulations!" Sonic rushes to shake your hand. "You're in!"
"I- what? I didn't apply-"
"Yeah, consider yourself lucky. We're employing a new policy that whoever walks in through the door next gets the spot!"
"Uhm, actually..." a beaver walks in through the door. "...it's whomever, and since I walked in through this door now, doesn't that mean I also get the job?"
"Uh, sorry buddy, but it was whomever first walks in through the door. There's only three spots available, so yeah..." Sonic trails off, feigning an apologetic tone.
"Aw..." the beaver deflates. "Well, actually, I still need to ask you if you validate parking-"
"Okay, the rules are simple!" Sonic is quick to cut him off. "To the canyon!"
Sonic proceeds to not explain the rules until all four of you have arrived at the ledge he decided to stand on top of. You made a point of dragging your feet because you do not even want to be there.
"Really, (Name)?" Sonic deadpans. "Making all of us wait like this? You really are a villain!"
Your eye twitches and a strained grin rises to your lips. "Oh, we're doing this now? For a hero, you're rather rude. What if I was having a bad day? What if that was my last straw and I went back to villainy, undoing the months, years of progress you worked so hard for to make me redeem-"
"Okay, point taken." Sonic waves his hands in surrender. "But seriously, you could've walked faster!"
"I didn't even want to be here, my dude. I'm gonna walk as slow as I feel like walking."
"Ugh. I should've accepted that beaver guy instead..."
"You called?" The beaver with a red bow tie pops out of a nearby bush.
"Wait, where did you even come from?! Why are you here?" Sonic questions.
"I still needed to ask about parking-"
"Ugh, nevermind. Let's just get started already." Sonic facepalms and waves off the beaver who slumps again, dejected.
"Alright, being my sidekick is no easy task. This competition will test your strength, stamina and endurance. The winner will be whoever-"
"Actually, it's-"
"Yeah, yeah, whomever makes it through all of the unimaginable hardships and brings me the red flag I planted atop the incredibly dangerous but inaccurately named Mount Safety," Sonic finishes.
"Now go." He points at the obstacle course with a deep frown, clearly just as done with this as you are with him. But regardless, the competition begins.
All three of candidates, Tails, Eggman and you, kick off your boards to slide down the hill. Yours is an older model you stole years ago (not that the gang needs to know that) but it still works like a charm as you zoom through the course. The fastest route was easy to spot based on the way the course was laid out in the familiar jungle. Even though you do not feel any need to take this seriously, it is because of that your chances of victory are high regardless. But perhaps you should paid more attention.
If you were not busy thinking about the events from earlier, you would have noticed the ball of swirling blades headed towards you sooner. As the slicing sound draws near, you jump off of the board and land neatly on your feet. Your trusted board, however, crashes straight into a tree. The blades on the other hand fly somewhere deeper into the forest.
You approach the broken pieces with a frown and pick one up solemnly. It was outdated, sure, but you preferred the shape to the newer models and the way it curved around obstacles.
Sonic appears next to you in a blur. "You doing alright?"
"Yeah, my board just broke." You hold up a shattered piece of it.
"Something fishy's going on. Tails is already going to check it out." Sonic taps his foot on the ground in an unusually nervous manner.
Given how urgent it seems to him, you make a decision. "You should go without me. You know I can't keep up with you on foot."
A proud smirk rises to his lips as he gets ready to speed off.
"And wipe that smug grin off your face, that didn't mean anything." You glare at him.
"Oh, sure, it didn't, snookums!" Sonic dashes off, leaving you burning with agitation at stupid reoccurring nickname. You take a deep breath to cool down and march back home with your broken board.
It took less time than you wished for you to arrive at the beach. You toss the broken pieces into your bag and drift to the shore. There is a part of you that wants to scream from how annoying and stupid everything is. You are only seconds away from sitting down on the sand to sulk for the third time in that day, a moment away from screaming when someone cuts you off.
"Hey! (Name)! I figured something out!" Amy rushes to you and pulls you up by your bicep. "Come with me!"
"How'd the... sidekick thing work out for you?" You ask, even though you know she did not get the part.
"Oh, it was a breeze! I was just a better fit for a different employer!" She giggles. "At least Knuckles can appreciate a singing and juggling pizza man!" She sings in an overly upbeat tone and juggles three balls.
"Okay, that's nice, Amy." You hold down a cringe at the display, but she seems happy at least. "But what did you figure out?"
"A cure for your boredom, of course!" She grabs your hands and pulls you with her again as she ran.
Moments later, you arrive at her hut. She swings the door open with confidence and steps in, looking proud of herself. "So! While you were away doing something, I multitasked both getting hired as a sidekick, and figuring out what would make your life less miserable! And then in a stroke of genius, I remembered what you are really known for!"
"And what would that be?" The smallest of smiles graces your features.
"For being a strategist! Making good plans, elaborate heists, ambushes and all that!" She throws her hands up to enunciate her point, only to drop them down with a deadpan glare. "Seriously, those ambushes were extremely annoying to deal with."
"Why, thank you! Only the best for my arch enemies." You bow with a grin.
Amy sighs but continues. "So, I figured, that what game a strategist could like better than..."
She turns around dramatically before revealing a pink game board. "A TURN-BASED STRATEGY GAME!"
"Amy, I'm standing right next to you, you don't need to scream." You rub your aching ears. Amy grins sheepishly and mutters an apology.
"But, a strategy game?" You tilt your head.
"Yes! A strategy game!" Amy lights up upon noticing the small spark of intrigue in your eyes. "It's a very sophisticated battle game that requires strategy, cunning and merciless aggression!"
"Intriguing..." you mutter in thought, "...what's it called?"
"It's called... Fuzzy Puppies!" She exclaims cheerfully in spite of the nervous quiver in her tone.
"Would you like to give it a try?" She asks while holding the board out, a hopeful glimmer in her eye.
"...Sure." you shrug, but intently eye the rules written on the back of the box.
And in moments, the pink board is laid out on the table. Both you and Amy have three puppies in front of you, ready to be played with.
"The goal is to eliminate all of your opponent's puppies from the board," Amy explains, "each puppy has its own unique abilities!"
"Like Charlene Sharpey, for example, has a bark that can scare a smaller dog off the table!" She holds up the mentioned piece.
You nod before pointing back to the box. "What's up those hats?"
"Oh, they're accessories that can give the puppies new abilities! Those are for more experienced players though. We should start off simple so you learn the rules."
"Okay, then."
"So! This one is called Warrior Beagle." She picks up the dog. "Usually it works well as counter for Pugnacious Pug, with a couple of rare exceptions."
Amy sets the piece down and picks up a grey dog. "Those exceptions can be dealt with by having Slobbering Sheep Dog also in your party! His ability is to mark his territory, which easily eliminates almost all, even the fiercest opponents!"
It takes a while for her to explain the rules, but you sit by patiently and absorb the information like a sponge. The moment the game starts, you have a plan prepared and ask for the combination of dogs best suited for it. However, it is your lack of experience that leads to your downfall.
"Huh? What do you mean I can't attack Goldie the Retriever?"
"Goldie is currently digging a hole. He's underground and Warrior Beagle can't reach him," Amy explains.
"Also, it's my turn now." She moves a piece and knocks down one of your dogs.
"Hey-"
"Charlene Sharpey lets out an ear piercing bark. Pugnacious Pug has sensitive hearing and rushes away from the battlefield."
"My whole plan depended on that..." you grumble and move your last piece.
"Goldie the Retriever emerges from underground. The earth collapses underneath Warrior Beagle. You have no puppies left, I win!" Amy smiles proudly.
Your eyes narrow and you whip out a notebook from your bag. Scribbles and hastily written thoughts are quick to fill the latest available page.
Amy watches from the side, a bit confused. "Uh, (Name)? What are you exactly-"
"I demand a rematch!" You point your pencil at her as aggressively as possible. "But I'm writing something down first!"
"A new plan?"
"Yes! I'm perfecting my strategy until I'm incapable of losing!"
"That's gonna take a while." She crosses her arms smugly. "Not to brag but I have been playing for a rather long time!"
"There wouldn't be a point in playing against someone who sucks." You chuck your notebook away. "Now,  back to business! This time, the game's mine!"
The day fades into night as several rounds of the game pass by. After each round you passionately scribble away new observations, using trial and error to form new ideas. Even though Amy is just as enthusiastic about the game as you are, she is by now yawning consistently because of how late it is getting.
"(Name), I'm glad you're having fun, but..." she yawns again in the middle of the sentence, "...maybe now would be a reasonable time to go to bed. It's almost midnight."
"But I don't feel like sleeping. There's plans to hatch." You never even lift your face away from the paper.
"Is this how you operated back when you were a villain, too?"
"Yes. Evil doesn't sleep. Neither do I as its servant."
"You mean former servant, right?"
"Er, yeah. Sorry, old habits."
"It's fine! But you really should get some more sleep. Not getting enough has some pretty bad consequences."
"Sure, sure."
Amy sighs but then smiles tiredly. "Well, at least it looks like you liked the game."
"Obviously," you chuckle, "you said it yourself, strategy stuff is my thing."
"I really don't get why didn't you suggest this game to me as the first idea." You say while still writing down notes with no pause. "Instead of making me crack my neck on a trapeze and all that."
"Uh, well, you know..." she hesitates for a moment, scratching the back of her neck. "I was a bit worried you'd make fun of me..."
"I know the others would." Amy crosses her arms with a frown.
"People always do that." You sketch out Goldie the Retriever before pulling the pencil away. "Whether or not you let them ruin the things you love is up to you."
"Hm, I guess you're right," Amy hums, "but still, I'd prefer to avoid the unnecessary teasing if possible. I love all of my friends but if they're given something to poke fun at, they can get unbearably annoying."
"That makes sense, too."
"Yep. But we can keep playing together!" She claps her hands together in excitement. "Gosh, I'm so happy I finally have someone to play with! I've been a fan of this game for so long but it's tough to find others who like it!"
"Well, aren't you lucky! I've already come up with thirty-six different strategies I'm planning on throwing your way."
"Bring it on, (Surname)!"

It's really weird in the house. Unfriendly and I moved out to MI in July of 1999. We didn't have any pets at the time. Diva moved herself in September of 1999. We've had at least one cat ever since. Until now.
Our plans this year are to get the hell out of GA and into NM. Will we adopt a new kitty once we've settled? We're not sure. I think I'll still want to foster but that's not something I want to start right now.
We both keep expecting to see Gigabyte in the house.
When we got home from picking up her ashes, I did start cleaning up some things. I threw out her upstairs litter box, some open and uneaten food, all of the different baby foods and wet cat foods that were in the fridge. There's more to throw out or clean and store away. There's stuff I need to return, too. There's so much stuff I can also probably donate to shelters. I don't need to wipe the fact she existed out of the house, though. Her water bowls are still up as is her window bed.
While I'm really sad, I'm also really relieved she's not suffering anymore. We both think Gigabyte didn't really want to leave us. Diva was ready. She was cognizant on her last day and purred while eating ham, but she was ready. Gigabyte was really trying to hang on and had we let her it would have been so much more painful for all of us, especially her.
I'm better at dealing with my guilt and regrets. My vet said I did more than 99.99% percent of people in terms of Gigabyte's health and well being. While I know she's right, I also feel I could've done more. That's the control freak in me. I have no power over the natural course of life, but I can't help feeling like I failed which is not the least bit realistic or healthy.
Today we've just been lumps on the couch. We've watched all of the first season of A.P. Bio (not bad) and The Continental: From the World of John Wick (meh). Maybe we'll find a movie to watch later. I can't bring myself to do any music gig work.
The day has just felt odd. The space feels odd. Not having a cat just feels unnatural but I also can't imagine bringing in a new kitty so soon. It helps some folks and that's great, but I need time.
Thanks again for all of your kind words.

You’ve mentioned before that ToA won’t have any bad endings (being a romance book), and just different ones. Out of curiosity, what would a bad ending look like for Ruben’s route if there were one?
I’d ask about the others but I’m sure there’d be spoilers so if any of the others can have this question answered without spoiling route content then theirs too.
Um ... honestly and I'll type something below if different but I feel like a bad ending would just be Phoenix dying or the LI not choosing them. But let me try and be more creative.
Ruben: dies to Raznith. Phoenix dies to Laurens ... all I can think of really for him.
Nour: spoiler. Okay actually, Nour would have the saddest bad ending if possible so far. Cos they're sad ending could 100% be integrated into the story, no problem. And besides the simple ones above the spoiler one is all I can think of.
Ozara: spoiler. But another good example of 100% integrated into the story but ... wait ... no redact that. Her sad ending happens period. Yea no, she doesn't have any besides Phoenix dying or LI not choosing them.
Zarik: Spoiler. (Regretting asking this yet lmfao. Yes, I'm totally ignoring your second paragraph cos I wanted to think this through.) But like ... meh. Definitely not horrible. Wait, and this is less spoiler because I think the demo holds this info. But another is Phoenix - naw, I need to check if that's actually mentioned in the damn demo lmfao.
Makaio: Obviously if the cousin wins. Makaio falls in love with the cousin. But take these with grains of salt as Makaio is 100% probably going to get an upgrade on her storyline like the others did once I get deep into writing her. So more angst!

Help why is Silved mpreg a new thing on this app- like what started this help me
OH BOY how the fuck do I explain this shit
Ok so basically back in very early January I decided to draw Silver Spoon.. but pregnant. AS A JOKE-
Then my gf (@humanaltarr) posted the pic, and a few of my moots on Tumblr saw it, and at first I was like "Welp this is the end of my Tumblr career" and I think just a few hours later one of my moots (@spiritmander13) wrote the first Silver Spoon mpreg fic called "Silver Suffers With Morning Sickness" with 6 chapters (technically 7 but the 7th isn't involved with the story)
Then Silver Spoon mpreg became a big joke mostly on the oscc discord I believe (I joined it for a few days but left) and then for a while it was quiet, until I started an ask blog called @askthe-iii-shipchildren, on April 5th, and on April 30th I got an ask by an anonymous person where they wanted Candelabra to put Silver Spoon in a maid dress, and I ended up drawing Silver in a maid dress
Now here's were the second Silver mpreg era began. I made a joke with Candle saying "If Silver stays in that for much longer Candelabra is gonna have a little sibling soon" cuz I thought it would be funny (had no idea what it would cause)
Then @spiritmander13 reblogged it and said something like "CANDLE NO-" and I replied back saying "Silver Spoon mpreg part 2 /j" AS A JOKE. She told me not to start it again, and I said "Aw shucks" but in the tags of that reblog, I said "Time to draw Silver pregnant in a maid dress" and that's where I messed up since Spiritmander said they were intimidated.
Suddenly, I got tagged in a post by Spiritmander, and it seemed to be a screenshot of them saying "Don't tell Infinite, my sins shall stay hidden until it is the right time (I scrolled for like 20 minutes on their blog to find that fucking hell)
Then I got a little spooked cuz yk it's not everyday shit like this happens. I then screenshotted it and went into her inbox with the screenshot and asked "WHAT IS RHIS, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN" and she replied with another screenshot and it said "*Casually steals Tumblr mutuals fankid for the story*" and that's when I knew what was happening.
Soon, Spiritmander posted another Silver Spoon mpreg fic called "Little Moth"
Then it was a little quiet after that, with me making an occasional joke about it, always ending it with Spirit saying "HEY YOU STARTED IT!"
There is also this whole thing with "Bab Incest" Spirit did but I wasn't involved with that
Later in to May, me, @spiritmander13 and @mxmc13 formed the "Silver Spoon simp trio" cause apparently we all saw each other as friends so why not
Then the (sort of) mpreg era 3 started again. I'll put this part simply and say that me and a few other people on osc Tumblr got asks in our inboxes by "Anon~Chan" that were basically like a shitty Wattpad story but with II characters, and I personally got a Silverloon mpreg thing.. so fun..
And the most recent thing that happened. There was a Two x Jax post, and me, Mc, and Spirit were basically joking more about Silver Spoon mpreg in the reblogs, until Spirit came along and said "Silver Spoon simp trio canceled." And me and Mc were absolutely DEVASTATED and then Spirit said that me and Mc had to write Silver Spoon mpreg as well, for me as punishment for drawing it and confusing the original poster, and for Mc.. dunno..
And that's what's currently happening, I am working on my Silver mpreg and so is @mxmc13 ..
And yeah that's the whole story pretty much, this was a VERY long post and probably not even was the asker really wanted but meh
Anyways I imma end this off with saying.. I do not regret first drawing the Silver Spoon mpreg, since this is all genuinely fun and it even got me some friends on this site (Spiritmander and Mxmx and their great) so yeah =]
(also this is NO hate to anyone mentioned in this, and the fics that Spirit wrote are actually really good so I recommend checking them out)

10 things for 10 people I'd like to get to know better
tagged by: @lunarriviera <333!!!
last song: I've been listening to "The Eye" by 白鲨JAWS pretty much on repeat since Link Click: Bridon Arc started airing and then regretting all of my life choices when I get to that one line and it makes me weep -- but wait STOP NO NO DON'T LISTEN TO IT. You need to go watch the show instead (start from season 1). The song is pretty spoilery which is why it makes me cry because it is fully centered around the tragedy of [REDACTED]. If you need some non-spoiler-y convincing, here is the post that got me to watch the show.
Have fun! ^_^
Tumblr media
favorite colour: all of them
last book: Just finished Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands by Kate Beaton and The Way Out: A Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven Approach to Healing Chronic Pain (lol, I'm old), and I'm in the middle of The Sympathizer by Thanh Nguyen. In the danmei space, I was reading Stars of Chaos, but I sTRuGgLEd through vol. 3 so after abandoning about five different Priest series I think I just have to resign myself to her stuff not being for me.
last movie: The War of the Rohirrim, which was.... meh. The animation was gorgeous, but it was definitely war-heavy (I mean, it IS right there in the title) so I got bored quickly. I'm also very much over Spunky Female Protagonist Is Good at Boy Stuff and Therefore Is Badass!! as a wholeass character profile.
last show: Under the Skin 2, while also still rotating The First Shot and Desire Catcher in my head. And I'm about to watch the last episode of Towards the Truth. Which is. So incredibly gay. The plot is absolutely unfathomable due to the awful AI-generated subs. But I'm enjoying the view....👀
Tumblr media
Aaaaanyway after that I'm gonna probably finally catch back up with The Spirealm now that it's on Viki, see what y'all are on about...
sweet/spicy/savory: sweet all the way, sometimes savory, never spicy (imma baby wimp)
relationship status: severely aroace. One time I tried to kiss someone and my whole body went, but WHY?
Last thing I googled: "ride of the rohirrim movie" lmfao I couldn't even remember the name of it
current obsession: Link Click. Link Click. Please watch Link Click!!! Join us in hell!
looking forward to: Life-wise, I'm gonna be joining my martial arts group on a trip to Japan this summer to compete in a wushu competition where I will participate in a group sword routine, thereby living out all my wuxia dreams!!!!! In the meantime, though, I will marinate in extreme travel and performance anxiety, while soothing myself with my bottomless Asian dramas list and Andor season 2. Amen. More immediately, knowing I'll get to go to bed and snuggle up with @elenothar's Under the Skin 2 fic, @lunarriviera UTS 2 fic, and @hidey-writes's The First Shot fic is literally what has been getting me through each work day. <3
tagging: @lquacker @comic-lover @fromhereonblind @wouldyoulikeacupofteadear @xiaobaosnoona @yeliuxi @endrega23 @wuxia-vanlifer @thesilversun @inkstainsonpages but no presh obviously!!!

Rating (the translated, not actually OG) titles of manhwa/manga because I was bored
Monstrous Duke's Adopted Daughter/The Monster Duchess and Contract Princess - not egregiously long but boring when the story is actually interesting. 6/10. Rename it with something more snappish like the Adopted Shadow or whatever. idk. Have I mentioned I've been banned from naming things?
My In-Laws Are Obsessed with Me - 4/10. Also not horrible but it's clearly a clickbaity title and I roll my eyes. Better to rename it to like ..... something to do with blood maybe? Or if you want to keep it family-themed. Blood Ties? Also boring and you can tell I'm speaking from a western YA-genre reader perspective?
Beware the Villainess - 8/10. This needs no change
The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine - .... it's exactly what the title says, ngl. 7/10. But it could be better and less of a summary. Don't know what, though
The Noble Girl Who Finds a Nerdy and Plain Guy Moe Thinks That the Arrogant Prince Is in the Way - 0/10. I just. Why? The official English title is something like The Lady Likes a Nerd over Princes, which I found weird but the summary was interesting (turns out it was a good manga. But the author just has zero respect for the agency of women. Like. Comically so that it's not even funny as it gets a tad bit narratively frustrating as it's used as a device to drag on the plot) Anyway. Just why?
An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride - 2/10. Not as unforgivable as the previous but horrible all the same. And while the concept was interesting and I gave it a try because it was a rec, it turned out to not be for me at all. The title is dramatic, I'll give you that. It reads like it's a self help book for demon kings who want to learn how to Love and that's basically the manga
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End/Frieren at the Funeral/Frieren the Slayer - 10/10. Look. Any of those titles are good. It doesn't pop out but neither does it force you to hide the title out of fear of being misunderstood
The Savior's Book Cafe Story in Another World - 5/10. Inoffensive but another summary title. You could have literally just called it the Savior's Otherworld Cafe instead. Or something
I Listened to My Husband and Brought in a Lover - 1/10. Encourages cheating with consent. Actually, the manhwa kinda did too (the husband cheated first and was like you should cheat too). At least people know what they're in for? Don't want to retitle it. It deserves it for starting with decent potential for that premise and kinda failing to deliver.
I Stole the Number One Ranker's Soul - 6/10. Again, it's pretty catchy and not terrible but I still don't like these summary titles. Manhwa is amazing, however.
Can't Stop Cursing You - 8/10. Dying laughing because it reads as someone going "man, I just... can't stop cursing you. Really can't help myself you know? Sorry not sorry" while zapping you repeatedly with curses. Still pretty stupid when the actual manga was REALLY shiny with all that horror and bloody gore and interesting plot
Gingerly in Love - 10/10. Trust me. Once I saw what it was about, I died laughing. Not the most memorable manhwa but the wordplay of the title....
The Tyrant Wants to Be Good - 6/10. Again. Inoffensive but there's something annoying to me personally. The manhwa is great, though. Love me a woman who makes her trauma everyone else's problem, regrets it, and then internalizes the guilt in her do-over at life so bad that she ends up getting aggressively adopted into a found family
I Got a New Skill Every Time I Was Exiled, and After 100 Different Worlds, I Was Unmatched - 0/10. Why are isekai titles actually the worst sometimes. Manga itself is meh, in my opinion. It has potential ruined by the usual commodification of women, so I dropped it despite my interest
Bonus:
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court - 3/10. Twain really was isekai titling when he probably didn't know that Japan was even a thing, huh. Not terrible, but it has that isekai style of summarizing the premise.
Bonus again:
The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders Who was born in Newgate, and during a life of continu’d Variety for Threescore Years, besides her Childhood, was Twelve Years a Whore, five times a Wife (whereof once to her brother) Twelve Years a Thief, Eight Years a Transported Felon in Virginia, at last grew Rich, liv’d Honest and died a Penitent - -10/10. It was an okay book but you shouldn't have had this power over your book titles, Daniel Defoe. Seriously. My edition just says "Moll Flanders". Never have I wanted to shame a dead author more. It's not even an isekai but it's worse than an isekai title. It's a whole anime opening credits.

Did you see Boy Wonder's preview? If yes: What did you think of it? 👀
i have not seen the preview :P I did read the issue tho (which was released after you sent this ask but i was not doing much tumblr stuff for a few days)
I'll copy my LoCG review for my issue impressions (link)
The damian characterization here is good. We get to see him grapple with his guilt and regret and how much he fears his caretakers not loving him. And we see him also moving forward past his guilt to help people now. I loved the scene at the end. The talia characterization was... meh. I know she beats the bare minimum (not actively infanticidal or an obvious villain). But she just feels very passive and victimized. I guess part of it is probably because her being unable to change things is probably the only way she would raise damian in the league.... but it's so not talia. Like talia works against her father if he's going too far (tower of babel, batman annual 8, others) she eventually just straight up leaves... but now that she's shackled to being damians mother she'll always have to be a villain or a victim and we miss that she has had similar thoughts and emotional beats to damian vis a vis freedom in the face of the league
Everyone on LoCG seemed really impressed with the talia characterization but it was just like... OK for me. not the worst but far from great. i have seen some people on tumblr (ok 1 person but w/e) critiquing it tho

Snakelet - Chapter 5 (cont'd)
@augusnippets Day 8 - Protective Caretaker, with an undertone of Found Family
Word count: 518
Masterpost
Content: Post-torture injury, implied lab whump, caretaker doing their best for whumpee's sake, when the caretaker is takered care of
Honestly I just wanted to follow the last snippet up bc I like writing Zop lmao
~
Seeing as Janessa's 'forgotten' to free Zop from the operating table, they do their best to make themself comfortable — not an easy task in her presence, even without restraints. "And just how d'ye plan on fixin' him up, eh?"
She looks at them like they're an idiot. So, the same as she always does. "I'll commission a healer, and he'll be good as new."
"D'ye really think that's it?! He's bein' tortured, for fuck's sake! Get ye the best healer in the world, it's not gonna fix his mental scars!"
"Of course not. That's your job." She boops them on the snout, hurriedly drawing her hand back when they snap their jaws with the full intention to bite her finger off. ...Probably why she's left them tied down. "I expect that he'll be perfectly capable of going back to normal within... a week, let's say. I'm sure you can manage that. You want him obedient as much as I do."
"Oh, fuck off. We both know yer not gonna ruin yer little deal over somethin' out of his hands. Yer damn lucky he'll let this slide." They flex their leg, instantly regretting it when agony washes over them anew.
"Fine. Then I'll take it out on him instead. I'm sure he'll have plenty of fun new buttons to push. Is that better for you, Zop?"
They snarl, refusing to admit defeat outright. "Fuck you. Never said I wasn't gonna try. I'm used to fixin' yer mess, anyway."
"This is not my mess."
"Don't ye start, it's yer fuckin' fault he—"
With narrowed eyes, Janessa dismisses them, responding from outside the gem as Zop collapses into Maya.
"Clearly, he didn't adequately salvage your mental capabilities. We'll have a discussion about that when he returns."
"Meh meh meh, I'm a little bitch, I am." Zop sneers weakly, more concerned with the blood pouring down their leg. "Ye think we can clean this up? Don't want him fussin' over me when he gets back."
"...Let us worry about that after we stop the bleeding, yes?"
"Aye, right. Help me there, will ye?"
With Maya's help, Zop staggers to the crack in the floor, which they've made considerably wider this past week. Solstice places a hoof on the crack and faer horn on Zop, and slowly but surely, their leg closes up.
They carefully flex it and suck in a pained breath. Still hurts like a bitch, but at least the blood's staying inside.
"Good enough. Now I can—"
"Sit down, is what I assume you are going to say, correct?"
Zop squints at Maya, who stares back up at them, and eventually sighs in defeat. "'Course. Don't wanna open it back up, anyway."
Satisfied, she helps them lie down comfortably on the jouch while Solstice addresses the other janimals about 'jleaning jhe jlood.' They prop their leg up on the jouch's arm with a groan.
"Dunno how he manages to deal with her all the time."
"She does not stab him, for one."
Maya plops her furry head on Zop's chest, and they stroke her soft, denim fur.
"Aye. Lucky me."

truly wild to me that i first got the idea for that fic about six-to-eight years ago
i really do want to finish it one day, even if it might be awhile
unfortunately, getting wrapped up in fandom burned me out pretty bad. vento fandom was wild. i got over-invested in stupid shit and probably was kind of flippant at times. it made me feel like a bug under glass. i don't do well in fandoms. i get burned out really easily. there seemed to be constant drama going on and that really drags things down, man.
more importantly, i'm also just not that into jjba anymore. idk. maybe i need to do a reread. i do reread jojolands when it comes out. i got into jjba during a really weird, very stressful part of my life to have a distraction that didn't require a lot of brain energy, but i'm older now, out of that stressful situation, and don't really have the same motivations to write. i got dogs to pet. i have a partner who i love very much. i'm busy playing little games and talking to my friends.
mostly, as mentioned, jjba was something i started getting into because i needed something kind of silly at the time (that's not an insult) but i don't need that anymore. i'm getting into series i like on their own merits. it turns out i don't really like shonen as a whole.
i kind of lost track of what i was doing with some parts of it tbh. my original notes have vanished into the aether. i need to do a big reread but it's a huge commitment, so i haven't done it. there's storylines in there that i wish didn't overcomplicate the plot and pairings that i started setting up that i'm kind of meh on now. too many characters. some story beats that i don't think i executed well and some i don't think i was actually the best qualified to handle. fundamentally it does seem like an inherently silly thing to write an introspective fic series about depression and cycles of abuse under the guise of the funny punchghost anime but also existence is fundamentally silly, so like, whatever man, i don't really regret that part. might not have chosen abbacchio as the protagonist if i was going to write the whole thing today.
maybe i'll release a broadstrokes outline of what i was planning on doing some day idk. the series has been in progress so long that honestly if anyone ever finds this post and wants to know the spoilers, i'll just tell them. parts of it may seem anticlimatic and that's because the whole death fic was originally just a setup for the part that i really wanted to write.
i miss geun and stefano, my not-OCs. they are very dear to me. i want to do something with them but they're ultimately so tied to the canon fates of sorbet and gelato that it's hard to adapt them to other settings. like, they're technically not my ocs but let's be honest, they're OCs in every way but design and name.
i have more thoughts and feelings on my forays into writing here but also then i will ramble for five pages, so let's cut it down now. we're writing this stream of conscious style baby and this brain is t i r e d.

chapter 4: ice cream
Tumblr media
"i could tell that you know who i am now."
"um.. i don't know what you're talking about?" rina tried to play it cool but he could probably hear her heart beating.
"come on, you acted normal. then went to my fansign. then days later you're acting weird." he paused. "i connected the dots."
"you connected the dots? i wasn't the one hiding my identity. i connected the dots."
"okay, you got me there." he laughed.
"i feel so stupid. i mean i didn't know you until the fansign, but even after the fansign i still didn't know until yesterday."
"the picture?" he smiled. "i did that to tease you. if you didn't know before you definitely would know then."
"why did you want me to know who you are?" he posted a whole picture just for me to see? she asked herself.
"well," he hesitated "i was getting tired of hiding myself from you."
"why?" she asked.
"you seem like a cool person to be around." he open the ice cream and pushed it towards her.
she took a bite "so, am i your bias?" she choked on the ice cream. "oh my god, are you okay?" he reached out to her but she flinched.
"i'm fine, i actually prefer hanbin. he's really cute and nice." she half lied.
"did you tell your friend about me?" he asked sincerely.
"well sorta kinda." he raised a brow. "what is that supposed to mean?"
"she knows about you, but she doesn't know that its you." she immediately regretted offering up that information,
"so, you talked about me to her when you thought i was just some guy." he smirked.
"actually, i tell her about every customer." she herself didn't sound too convinced.
"whatever you say."
silence engulfed them.
"you should probably get some rest or something. isn't that idol life draining?" she asked.
"meh, my schedule starts in the afternoon tomorrow." he stayed in the seat. "plus, it feels nice to unwind."
he continued "shouldn't we get to know each other? how about 20 questions. i'll start. when is your birthday?"
"november 11th. summer or winter?"
"winter, duh. favorite animal?"
"pandas. favorite-" she was cut off by his phone buzzing.
"okay, okay. i'm literally walking home right now. bye bye."
they both wordlessly got up and grabbed their trash and belongings.
"give me your phone." she handed it to him without questioning him and he swiftly typed and handed it back to her.
"bye bye zhang hao." she waved.
"just call me hao from now on." he waved back as they went their separate ways.
once she got to her front door she felt a buzz in her pocket.

Veil status: guarded
I'll write more about my overall impressions on the game later, but the ending? The ending was great.
(ignore the after-credits scene)
Unless you truly hated this game, it improves the experience by a mile. I still remember how underwhelmed I was by the final boss fight and ending in Inquisition (without Trespasser). Didn't expect such a strong final act from modern Bioware. Was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's cinematic and flashy and very mass effect-ish, but in all the best ways.
More spoilery stuff:
SUICIDE MISSION! It's such a great way to structure the final mission and I'm glad that Bioware brought it back
But I also love how it makes you go "ah yes the suicide mission, I did all the companion quests so they will be fine" and some of them turn out to be not fine
I was spoiled about Davrin/Harding choice and was prepared to hate it but it kind of works? It's not an obvious "who will die" choice like Virmire, if you weren't spoiled it's kind of an unexpected gut punch
Yes I sent my waifu Harding to her death because Rook needs to suffer and Davrin's arc about finding meaning in life beyond sacrificing himself would be too depressing if he died (also Harding could still possibly survive with her titan powers)
But then I realized that if Harding dies you don't even get the final romance scene? They didn't even get to hold hands??? At first I was mad, but I ended up liking how it went. It was sad and deliciously tragic and possibly more interesting than watching an underwhelming PG sex scene bc otherwise romance in this game is kind of meh
Also if you avoid metagaming it's a nice callback to the beginning of the game: Harding got hurt when she went with Rook, and this time you send her away to keep her safe and she gets killed. BUT!! BACK THEN SHE REGRETTED NOT TAKING THE SHOT AND NOW SHE TOOK THE SHOT see it's like poetry it rhymes
Varric twist was great. Say what you will, I love it. It all makes sense in retrospect, and it makes you retroactively see a lot of things in a different light as well, including Rook. Also I don't think it could be ruined by someone mentioning him? I got an impression that everything related to his death was supressed, Rook straight up has false memories.
Fade prison gave me chills. I love how at this point in the game you start seeing more and more cracks in Rook's cheerful facade, how much insecurity and fear and grief they are hiding without even realizing it. With Harding's death, Rook has to deal with losing two of their closest people, and they still have to push through their grief and save the world. I think the entire final part made me appreciate Rook a lot more as a character, and if I get around to replaying it I'd probably see them in a whole new light.
Boss battles were kind of easy but still fun. Not even mad about not getting to fight the final archdemon, the fight between it and giant wolf Solas made for a nice backdrop and I loved seeing Solas trashed (also not too fond of dragon fights in this game anyway)
LOVE how much of an asshole Solas is, finally living up to his "trickster god" repuation. Love how much of a Solas hater you can be right until the end. Loved having different options on the table, all perfectly valid, without redemption being pushed on you as an obvious "good ending". Tricking him felt so good. GET REKD YOU EGG
Inquisitor was SO obviously there just for the solavellan ending. There's literally no other reason for them to appear. I don't know what was the point in pretending otherwise.
WHATEVER IT TAKES yeah yeah we got that
Morrigan deserved better
Seriously, ignore the after-credits scene

I'm in some sort of depressive episode for a while now like self isolation and no social battery outside work for anyone. I mean also inside work but you gotta pay the bills. And now I have this well not life changing but career changing presentation tomorrow. I gotta talk about myself, my skills why the should promote me instead of the others and it's like
I don't care
Was this super duper important to me just a month ago? Yeah. But I only got the time and date plus the questions last week when I was already low and I just
Don't fucking care
Or maybe I do and just know I'll never make it the way I am right now because I'm so far removed from my a-game that telling mysel I don't care helps
And the very few people I was able to talk to about it in my life are all like "oh you can do this! We believe in you" I don't
I'm not myself I'm not gonna be able to bring my a game and do my best
Heck last time I did my best for the other promotion and still didn't get it
And now the stakes are even higher and instead of a month I only had a week to prepare
I'll fail in front of my boss and my bosses boss tomorrow and then they'll never ask me to apply for a higher position again
I'll regret it probably in like however many months I need to get my shit together again but right now? Meh.

Have you ever written a canon muse that you first thought of ‘meh’ when they appeared in their canon show/movie/book? Is there any fandom you regret exploring? What’s something you find weird on here?
Tumblr media
❛ 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓 , : a series of questions for the mun / the person behind the muse(s) .
Tumblr media
have  you  ever  written  a  canon  muse  that  you  first  thought  of  ‘meh’  when  they  appeared  in  their  canon  show   /   movie   /   book?
i'm gonna be real . . . the last time i wrote a canon character besides ahri for any real amount of time was, uh, i don't even know how long ago anymore. so it's hard to recall, HAHA. these days it's difficult for me to latch onto a character unless i'm immediately going to bat for them, if there's ever a 'meh' feeling, it's probably not happening. getting me to diverge from ahri in the first place is hard enough as it is!
is  there  any  fandom  you  regret  exploring?
mmm maybe attack on titan? i mean, i wrote in it as historia reiss for maybe half a year or less waaaay before i wrote ahri. this was back in uh, late 2013? when the anime had just come out and i started the manga? like a lot of people, i had zero idea what sort of person the author was yet, and i never got very far into the manga. i don't know if i really regret it necessarily, but it's just like . . . an unfortunate dip into a not so great anime.
what’s  something  you  find  weird  on  here?
i've spoken about this with friends somewhat recently, actually, so i'll touch on it a bit here. but i find it kind of exclusive to tumblr the way getting a large following changes people in a weird way? it's something i've noticed over my years here, and while i've gotten up there in following in the past, sure, there's a certain height that some people reach that is a little weird. and it's not everyone! but the trend i've seen is with people who maybe get too territorial or controlling or anxious over numbers, or feeling overly threatened by duplicates, or lean too much on numbers as validation. i hope that makes sense? also not to shame duplicate anxiety because it's definitely a thing, and it's okay to dislike them or distance them for your own comfort, absolutely one hundred percent. but there have been people who just obsess over the level of anxiety it gives them, and it doesn't seem. healthy. on a site where duplicates are a natural part of being here. anyway that's my two cents!

Do you tend to focus on shipping or do you not care at all?
Is there any fandom you regret exploring?
Have you ever written a canon muse that you first thought of ‘meh’ when they appeared in their canon show/movie/book?
Questions for the mun Do you tend to focus on shipping or do you not care at all?
Whenever I first write any muse I almost always go in not expecting anyone to want to write a ship with me. So usually whenever it happens, I'm thrilled to be able to do so. It's not always a main focus, but I will write it. So yeah. I care a great deal. Lol.
Is there any fandom you regret exploring?
Yes, sadly. It's affected me and I haven't been back ever since due to fear that experience has left on me. If ever decide to go back it's going to be very dl tbh. Have you ever written a canon muse that you first thought of ‘meh’ when they appeared in their canon show/movie/book?
Right now the character that comes closest to that is Geralt of Rivia. I never expected to love him so much, but he grew on me alot. I was first introduced to him in the third game and I didn't think much of him until I played the game more. I thought it was going to be another game I put down after my first try but I was determined. I Enjoy game and book Geralt a lot more than I would say I like the show version (N.etflix's) him the show even though I'll admit it isn't all bad. I feel both of game and book versions of him are a perfect blend. Probably because whenever I read his dialog, I'm hearing Doug Cockle's voice.
