It’s the time of the sea-ea-son for....replies.
OK, so that doesn’t fit the song lyrics at all, does it? Or is the song so old that you have no idea what I mean? Or... Ah, whatever...
These be for @bouncersimmer, @penig, @lilleputtu, @mortia, @tamtam-go92, @dunne-ias, @mysterious-inspired, and @glabeglarn...
bouncersimmer replied to your post “I don't play a historical game but in my Bacc Teens don't go to...”
Thanks for sharing this! Helped give me some ideas on a new town I'm making!
I’m glad! The transport mirror is a handy thing to have! It opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities if you use it creatively.
penig replied to your photoset “Rain, rain, rain… My rule is that if it’s raining, nothing outdoors...”
Hey, if it's raining when your crops need tending, you go out and you get wet. And fishing is better in the rain.
Well, yeah, in the real world, but I’m trying to make things harder here! *laugh* ‘Cuz really? These folks have a super-easy life. Which is OK because it’s a total fantasy and all and I’m not trying to be “realistic,” but I don’t want to get bored and stuff.
lilleputtu replied to your photo “Over to Gabrielle Thompson’s place. She grows hay which, really, is...”
okay, the floating background sheep just gave me a good giggle :D
Aren’t they awesome? I want to photoshop little capes onto them or something... “Look! Up in the sky! It’s SuperRam!”

Fresh Meat is making this sound like a Cannibal settlement D:
Well, you know, if the crops ever fail.... ;) The newest one would be the first on the BBQ, right? :)
mortia replied to your photoset “The Stowes at work…and at not-work.”
Oooh that lake/river is gorgeous!
Thanks! That was just a quickie lot I threw together because I wanted to see how that windmill worked. (It generates flour sacks that can be used to bake desserts.) I decided to put water on it so that visitors could fish, too. It did turn out to be a pretty place to take pics. :)

No all toddlers roll wants to learn their basic skills! I had a toddler in my bacc whose parents split up shortly after her growing up, and she would only roll wants to interact with her parents and to gain specific skills points but she wouldn't roll a want to learn to talk until her final day time nap before growing up...
No, it’s true. I’ve had toddlers who never rolled a want for any of the skills and in those cases...Well, they DO get potty-trained because that’s part of my toddler-care schedule, but they didn’t get taught to walk or talk. And that doesn’t bother me because it’s not like there’s a penalty if they don’t learn those things. But MOST toddlers roll up a want for at least one of the skills. Most of mine seem to roll wants for all three plus the nursery rhyme, but not always.
I think it might be personality-linked. Like, my really outgoing ones will seem to roll up wanting to learn to talk first, while the really active ones will want to learn to walk first and the really neat ones will roll up potty-training first. But maybe that’s just coincidence, I dunno. It is a trend I’ve noticed over the years. But maybe if a toddler is shy, lazy, AND slobby, they’ll never roll wants to learn any of the skills...
dunne-ias replied to your post “Hey, I am having a strange issue with wants in my game. When my...”
the question really is, what kind of wants are they getting instead? for example, Hobby wants are kind of borked and just keep rerolling leaving not much room for other wants (unless you edit it or avoid hobbies)
Yeah, wants can be weird. But there does seem to be something going on with their game, since I just got a follow-up ask. :) But there’s also the issue that wants can be “trained,” in that if you constantly fill one, they’ll be more likely to roll that one. The problem, of course, is that if you play by wants, you naturally fill the wants they roll, if you can...which then “trains” them to roll those particular wants more often. So, you get in these ruts. I actually don’t mind the hobby wants because they’re generally easy to fill and once filled they’ll usually roll something non-hobby-related at least until the next day, since in my game, at least, the hobby wants seem to appear mostly on the Sim’s initial want-roll when they wake up.

Is that cat Kim? I have one in my neighborhood that's a menace
Yep, it’s Kim. She’s quite the spitfire. When she’s not battling wolves, she’s killing things and demanding tribute from her human slaves. Because, you know, she’s a cat. :)
penig replied to your photoset “Meanwhile, the Basset house was being invaded by…practically everyone....”
Those are some huge plums.
I know! I wish real plums were that big! They’re one of my favorite fruits...

She's a smart cat and went for the nose.
She must’ve. She’s a fluffy badass.
glabeglarn replied to your post “Oh, for the love of God, Norbert! This was the fourth time in a row!...”
He loves the sensation of the green tingling itch!
He must! Either that or he’s a masochist or it’s guilt-ridden self-flagellation or something. Because if you “accidentally” get poison ivy four days in a row, then I call that not an accident. Unless you’re, like, really really stupid. But Norbert actually seems to be not-stupid. I mean, at least he doesn’t blatantly cheat on his wife in front of his wife like most of the males in this neighborhood. *eyeroll* Plus, Knowledge Sim, right? He might crave an initial experience of something -- like they roll wants to get struck by lightning, of all things -- but four times? That seems a bit excessive. So I guess the boy’s just not quite right in the head.
lilleputtu replied to your photoset “And then Hawksley Sprog #4 was born. It is, alas, another boy....”
I am not looking forward to toddler mayhem in edona's glade. You're just dealing with SO MANY. how do you do it? Is it strong alcohol? because it sounds like strong alcohol may be needed. I already struggle with one toddler sometimes D:
*laugh* Alcohol might help, but since I’m not allowed it (because I have a damaged liver), it can’t help me! :) But there’s always weed, since I live in Pot-arado. :)
Pretty much, when there’s more than one toddler, I resign myself to the fact that most of what the adults are going to do is childcare and let everything else fall by the wayside for the time that their kids are toddlers. It DOES help that the cellar fridge is now bottle-enabled, so I can feed toddlers bottles from it, which is quicker (and, oddly, fills them up longer, which I totally don’t understand but I go with it) than feeding them solid food. But basically, I resign myself to the fact that childcare is going to take up all the adults’ time, pretty much, and I get the toddlers operating on a schedule, with feeding times slightly staggered so that they don’t all need to be fed at the same time. I also use a “toddlers sleep through the night” mod which helps to maintain a schedule. They all get up at the same time, and they all take a nap in the afternoon (to give the parents time to tend to their own needs, basically), and ideally they all go to sleep at night at the same time, although that doesn’t always happen. *laugh* Other than that, I make it so that one needs to be fed upon waking, one needs to be fed right before they go down for their nap, and the other gets fed before bed at night. And now that I have bottles, I can fill in if needed here and there. On rare occasions -- like if there’s twins -- I’ll have four, sometimes even five toddlers at once, and then it gets pretty chaotic, but I still try to stick to a schedule as much as possible. It’s really the only way to do it without going insane.
Well, OK, maybe not the ONLY way. Some people feed their toddlers pet food and/or have a never-ending bottle and they let them put themselves to bed as they will on pet beds and such, so that the parents pretty much never have to interact with them to take care of their basic needs, but I don’t like to play that way. It feels neglectful. I know they’re just pixels, but it still makes me feel icky. :)
penig replied to your post “Every time I think I’m going to get back on track with keeping up with...”
Bonk the guilt on the head. Following someone is not the same as promising to view all the content. Anybody you're particularly interested in, you can go to the individual blog sometime when you're in the mood. You never get to do all the things you want to do and that's life. Don't turn your leisure into work.
Yeah, this I know in my head. Although I suppose it’s not really “guilt” so much as there’s so many people’s work that I want to keep up with or catch up with...but at the same time, I want to do a lot of other things, including actually play my game. So when I plop myself in front of the computer for a stretch of time, I end up doing other things on it besides catching up with things I want to catch up with. And I can’t even say that more hours would help because I’d likely just spend those hours not doing the catching-up I want to do, too. *laugh* I’m just bad that way.

And yes. The tired mother is also pregnant again. While trying to run two businesses. But I don't feel half as sorry for her as I will feel for me when those babies become toddlers.

A quick roundup of my BaCC families now that generation 1 have become elders and a lot of stuff has been unlocked
So, I won't be like, posting about this BaCC other than a nice picture here and there and occasionally bragging about my scoreboard, but here's some pictures I took, not wanting to spend too much time on posing, to commemorate the state of families. At this point, basically all families are somehow connected. Blame Frona and Armand.
A note on names: I asked Behindthename to generate five names, male, female and both from basically all categories on their list and I just pick whatever names on that list I like the best. Sometimes I'm not sure if the name is male or female, but I've decided that my sims don't care, so neither do I :), but all names were randomized and so is most things that require some sort of decision on my part.
The Oberst Family
Nerys Oberst (man with grey hair) is the town's electrician and architect. He married Charles Seevey and they had three kids. Kiyo and Padmini, both married to Leslie-Barretts, moved out, but Petruska, lady in red, remained to take over the Electronics store. She married Roger Mogensen. They had quadruplets and then right after there was a broken condom so all their five kids are almost all the same age. From the left: Rizpah (the single birth) and the quads: Tullio, Alexandr, Ivo and Mindy.
The Kohout Family
Gordana Kohout is the town's mayor after winning the popular vote on Day 1. She married Veronica Chung to her right (she's close to becoming an elder herself) who was the town's only teacher for along time. Together they had three kids, twins Essi (far left) and Liam (moved out, married to an Ayers), and much later Gideon (middle). Essi married Morrigan Leslie-Barrett and together they have a daughter, Freya. More are likely to come. Gideon is working on setting up Brightshroom Island's first football team and will soon be moving out. I have no spouse planned for him yet.
The Mogensen Family
This one is a bit of a mess. Seated in the short hair is Albina Mogensen, the town's first carpenter. She ran a successful furniture store that she has now turned over to her granddaughter. She married Sophie Tellerman who founded Brightshroom Island News, the local paper and together they had twin sons. Roger is now married to Petruska Oberst and can be seen in photo nr 1, but in his teens he got Lizzie Leslie-Barrett pregnant and she gave birth to Margarita (second from the right). Lizzie later married Roger's brother Theofil and are the couple in the back. Other than Margarita, the couple also had four children. Teresia who leans on Albina, teenaged Roderick, Dragomir in the middle and not pictured: Florentina because ugh posing babies amirite? Margarita runs Albina's old furniture store and has also started up a hobby shop that sells all kinds of art and hobby supplies. She married townie Kerie Comier and had two children: Elaine sitting in her great-grandmother Sophie's lap and their son Harrish who is somewhere sleeping because again, ugh posing babies amirite? Teresia is an adult now too, and will be moving out to live with her cousin and bff Juniper in the next round. Roderick is close to adulthood and will also be moving out to live with his BFF, Natasha Ayers. I think that Theofil and Lizzie might move to a place of their own with their youngest kids too because this household is full and very stressful to play.
The Leslie-Barrett Family
Ho-boy. Frona Leslie ran the town's art store where they could buy home decorations etc. She married Armand Barrett and I liked both their names, so they've been the Leslie-Barretts ever since. Armand never had a job but did most of the child raising and boy were there a lot of children. Six, to be exact. First, a pair of twins, girls Lizzie (from photo nr 3) and Caron (coming later, married to Kiyo Oberst). Then another daughter, Morrigan (photo nr 2, married to Essi Kohout). Then came another set of twins, a boy and a girl this time, pictured on the far left and right of this picture; Sophia, who now works as a carpenter who sells kitchen furniture, eventually married Padmini Oberst but it took some time because they're both romance sims and those three bolts apparently wasn't enough to get engaged and married wants until much later. Before this, Sophia had a fling with a townie whose name I can't remember, but led to boy in blue there, Dali Leslie-Barrett, and later Padmini and Sophia had a child together, Talia. On the other end of the picture is Brentley, who took over the art store. He married townie Nathen King, and I also liked THAT name, so I didn't know what to call them and eventually decided there were enough Leslie-Barrett, so they're the Barrett-Kings. Together they have two sons, Conall is the elder on the right, and Sonder was born shortly thereafter. Frona and Armand also had a sixth child, a daughter named Meriem who lives with her boyfriend Erling Ayers. I think Brentley and Nathen are going to move out when a suitable house opens up. The Leslie-Barrett home is large, but there's a lot of sims to keep track of. Or Sophia and Padmini moves. I haven't decided. Might roll the die.
The Ayers Family
Sham'a Ayers, the towns criminal (lol gotta have one of those I guess), married Amar Jordan, a chef. Together they had three children. Twins Erling (to the right) and Darragh (who married Liam Kohout) and Natasha who recently became an adult. Erling moved in his girlfriend Meriem Leslie-Barrett in the yellow skirt and together they have a child, Evan. There's no marriage wants yet and it might stay that way. Natasha found a rare three bolt townie even though she's not a romance sim, and married Breanna Guevara the day after adulthood which was like, yesterday. She's already pregnant, and her and Breanna will be moving out at the end of next round. They'll also move in Roderick Mogensen, who is Natasha's best friend in the whole world.
The Oberst Family 2
Kiyo Oberst and Caron Leslie-Barrett somehow, despite being a pleasure and romance sim respectively, very quickly threw engaged and married wants and I pounced on it very quickly. Caron is the local Florist and Kiyo helps her out in her store. They had Juniper out of wedlock, and she has just become an adult and will be moving in with her best friend and cousin Teresia Mogensen. A little later, Leva was born and I think that's going to be enough for these two.
The Kohout Family 2
Liam Kohout married Darragh Ayers after much ado because she didn't like that he was unemployed at first, but once he started working for Albina Mogensen as a restocker, their chemistry improved much. Darragh runs the local clothing store that also sells rugs and curtains and other things she can make on her sewing machine. Liam helps her out whenever he's not busy with working for other people. Together, they have one daughter, Aurelia.
The Beck Family
I recently unlocked a subhood and made it a farmer's commune. That also meant I got to make a new sim, and because the population had grown so much I had two CAS-points. The die landed on making a pair of siblings, so this is August and Britta Beck. So far, they run the farmer's market in the farmer's commune where they are the only residents (so far). I've only played half a round with these two and not much has happened yet except August has befriended the local pack leader so we'll see how that goes.

Aaand then ias ran out of building energy. Will these lots for the university every be finished? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe when she visits them with a sim and realizes that they're not or it gets too annoying to look at them in hood view in their slightly unfinished states (like a park with literally nothing but a fountain in it, many buildings without landscaping and a bar with a hole in the wall.

Some random replies to replies that I didn’t reply to in the reply thread. :)
Confused yet? I am. :) Anyhoo, these are for @skyburned, @penig, @dunne-ias, @techheaddanie, @glabeglarn, @jennamaxon, @katatty, and @serabiet...
skyburned replied to your photo “I’m contemplating taking an excursion down to Roswell (It’d be a...”
I lost my simcity 4 disk so frequently I bought a downloadable version from Amazon. Now I can download whenever I change computers or whatever and NEVER WORRY ABOUT THE DISK. I love that game.
I hate messing with disks. I especially hate when you have to put in the disk in order to play the game. I mean, I get why you have to, but I just hate it and rebel against it and always get no-CD cracks. To me, when I buy a game or any piece of software, I own it forever (Don’t even get me started on Adobe’s current “rental” scheme. I’ll see red); it’s not dependent on whether or not I have a useable, non-damaged disk.
So yeah, I would’ve gone your route, definitely, but I bought SimCity4 at a used book shop and I haven’t used/played it enough to have tracked down a crack for it. I mean, I’ve had this current machine for over a year now, and I hadn’t even installed SC4. But if I try my hand at making a completely new terrain or five -- and I might, for the custom Uni(s) that I want to build -- I’ll track down a crack. Must be out there somewhere...
penig replied to your photo “SUCCESS! :D …Well, except that the size is off by a neighborhood tile...”
I have a default replacement in my BACC which only replaces roads automatically in new hoods. In old ones you have to lay down custom road tiles. Maybe you could do something like that?
That would be good, but what I’d really like (but that isn’t possible) is a road default that has “zones.” Like, high-traffic roads are bigger and paved while residential side roads can be smaller and possibly not paved. Like, for retroStrangetown, I’d want the “Road to Nowhere” to be a large, paved highway, like the old Route 66, and the roads in the “military” section I made to be paved but smaller, and the roads in the little non-military residential section I made to be packed dirt. That’s kinda how it works where I live even now, much less back in the 50s. The one interstate highway and the county-maintained roads that get more traffic and the roads in town are all paved and of different sizes for different levels of traffic, but the smaller county roads and the residential roads outside of town are all packed dirt.
I wish we could have the different road types that are in SC4 in TS2, but...nope.
dunne-ias replied to your photo “SUCCESS! :D …Well, except that the size is off by a neighborhood tile...”
I've been planning a new ST map too. And hoodreplace is very easy and straightforward to use, because Mootilda truly was a treasure we did not deserve
She really was! I am still mourning her loss. :(
But yeah, Hood Replace is pretty awesome. I’m now thinking of seeing about maybe uploading my retroStrangetown -- at least its map + hood deco; not sure about the houses because of the amount of CC -- when it’s done NOT as something to be played as-is because I didn’t make it empty or anything, but more as something one could use with Hood Replace to replace one’s own Strangetown in terms of roads and deco and all that.
techheaddanie replied to your photo “SUCCESS! :D …Well, except that the size is off by a neighborhood tile...”
Looks great. It's never too late to learn to do cool stuff. :)
Indeed it is not! I might give making a new custom terrain a go, figure out how it all works. It’s easy enough to edit an existing terrain, but doing all the terraforming and planning the road layout from scratch and all that might be fun. I need to figure out how that all works. I have a tutorial saved, so...one day, when I don’t feel like doing any of the other Sim-related things I have going. :)
glabeglarn replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
I love reading about your plans, and I really like what you’re going to do with Strangetown :) another option for SC4 is to buy a steam key from G2A, they’re only 4 euros. But maybe you won’t want to buy the game again :)
Yeah, I have a thing about not re-buying games...although I did buy most of TS2 several times over, over the years. But generally, I only buy games once. If I subsequently lose the disk or the disk becomes damaged or whatever, I have no qualms whatsoever about pirating a copy of the game, since I already own it.
But yeah, Steam is certainly an option, too, and if I hadn’t bought SC4, that’d be a thing I’d do. ...Although technically I don’t fully legitimately own SC4 since I bought a used copy at a used bookstore, but... Well, in any case, I did find my disk, so we’re all good. :)
As for my plans for retroStrangetown...I’m still not entirely sure what I’m going to do with it. I mean, I’m going to finish building it, and I’m going to play it, for sure, but I don’t know exactly how I’m going to share the playing, as it were. I might try the whole story thing but historically when I’ve tried writing a story via Sims, I’ve not been good at keeping it up. It’d be a shame if I’d put in all this work only to abandon it because I don’t feel like keeping up with a story, so...I don’t know. I’ve got time to figure it out, though, because I’ll be building for a while. *laugh*
jennamaxon replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
I've been dropping hood deco (meshes) a short space in Milkshape - it seems to work. I think there was a post by Criquette about it
Yeah, unfortunately my skills with meshes are non-existent. The only thing I’ve ever done in Milkshape is to add preg morphs to clothing meshes, and that was eons ago. So, my confidence level for messing with hood deco meshes is not high. :) But there is lots of hood deco that I’d like to lower so they don’t float as much, so...maybe one day. :)
katatty-main replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
i think rural charm will work, based on memory! looks really cool so far. i need to experiment with "off road" lots more
I’m kinda in love with “off road” lots. I mean, I’ve got a whole neighborhood that’s completely off-road. It just adds a whole different feel to certain lots. It’s great for really rural neighborhoods because you can have lots far apart with no visible roads around, and you’re not limited to building just where the roads are, but it’s also good for urban areas when you want to fill in big squares on the map but you don’t want to put down a huge lot or fill in the area with hood deco. You can fill it up with lots instead. Of course, if you do that too much you’ll choke the game...but you can do that with lots of high-poly/high-res hood deco, too. Anyway, yeah, I definitely recommend playing around with it.
serabiet replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
I'm so excited to see how this develops (and draw inspiration from the houses) 8D
I’ll be happy to fully figure out how it’s going to develop! *laugh*
And I like the houses. I’ve collected a bunch of antique plans to get ideas from and/or to build per plan, for unoccupied houses, if I’m not feeling creative. They’re no longer all “midcentury modern” style -- because really, at the time period, there were plenty of older houses around, with just a few “modern” ones here and there -- but they’ll be in a range of styles authentic to the geographical area and time period, from tiny Depression-era houses with no indoor plumbing -- Geez, at the time they fit an entire two-bedroom house into 500 sq.ft./46 sq. meters -- to Spanish Colonial style, to small “tract” bungalow kinds of houses that were built for returning GIs immediately post-WWII, to the (somewhat) larger modern-ranchy “rambler” kinds of places that became popular in the western US in the mid-50s. (The Beakers are getting one of my RL BFF’s house, if I can make it work; it’ll need lots of CFE. They live in Santa Fe, about a 3-hour drive from the Roswell area...which is a short drive as things go out here. :) The house is Spanish Colonial, built in 1927. It’s got this tower with window slits over the entry vestibule and several outdoor courtyards/terraces, so it looks sort of castle-y, but it’s in a style that has actually been built often in the US Southwest. I’m really hoping I can make it work in-game.)

What the frick, I have catching up to do! I didn't know Steven died. :(
He did. Came home with a cold one day, went to work the next, and died on the sidewalk when he came home. So sad. Ah, RealSickness... Usually, I like it to hit later, when I’ve got a larger population that’s actually in need of culling. I’m just glad it didn’t kill the whole household, like it sometimes does, because otherwise there’d only be Sharon and Gwen’s daughter Amelia to spawn the third born-in-game generation...

I'm absolutely DYING over their grinning faces in the last picture HAHAHAH
It’s a thing of beauty, isn’t it? :D Although I don’t know why Cyd’s grinning, since he’s got Julien’s face impaling his abdomen. That just can’t be comfortable...

CuriousB's desert terrain works for me, so I don't think it's the chipset.
Hmmm...Well, I had a look at the uploaded file, and it appears to be the right one. :\ I have no idea what’s going on. Give me a day or two and I’ll make a new file and maybe also make a high-res one, and then you can see if one or the other will work...
clericalrodent replied to your post “Civilization V”
Thought I'd ask - would you like some tips that aren't in the in-game tutorial? Nothing absolutely necessary, but might make your life a bit easier.
Sure! I still haven’t installed the game, but I probably will this weekend since we have no plans and it’s too darn hot around here to do much of anything outside. Maybe send me an ask or whatever with tips?

Omg. This is awesome, thank you, my sci fi hood is gonna get a swingers club now
Well, it’s certainly a perfect object for that! :) There’ll be other stuff you’ll probably be interested in for such a club, too. I just need the time to make it...

I both want this and also would be scared about what would happen if I put this on a commercial lot in my story hood. I have the original, but honestly I think I only used it once, in a Bacc household full of romance sims because I had a rule against TV and well, what else would they do on their days off?
HAH! Sex is better than TV by a mile, so... :) Anyway, the advertising on the thing is set so that if you use this on a community lot Sims don’t get overly obsessed with it so long as there are other fun things of equally-strong advertising around. That’s how I wanted it to be because it’s basically going to be an avenue for Sims to meet people in this wacko neighborhood, but I do want them to do other things when they’re on the lot where this will be, too.
But yeah, I suppose it has the potential to screw up stories. But it also might give you ideas, too. If you keep the characters for whom you have planned storylines away, others in the population might do interesting things to spark some ideas.
sim-boo replied to your photoset “Will took his boatload of scholarships and headed off to join boring...”
Lol personally id consider it a blessing to not be related to goopy gilscarbo ;)
Heathen! Nah, I kid. I know he’s an acquired taste. You have to like Romance Sims, and a lot of players seem to not like Romance Sims. You also have to like Sims who aren’t conventionally beautiful. I like Romance Sims (They’re my faves, actually), and I like “ugly” but not deformed-looking Sims. So he’s totally win-win for me! :) I do change his outfit, though, because that pixel-man has very questionable fashion sense. :)
I also like Ben Long a lot, but he’s a Knowledge Sim and I find them rather boring in general, so when I play him, I have to do terrible things to him to make him interesting. :)
didilysims replied to your post “Civilization V”
Never tried it myself, though from what little I've seen, it looks like something I could get interested in. All friends who have played it said Civ IV was better though. :P
I still haven’t installed it because there’s stuff for TS2 that I want to get done, and I know I’ll get distracted. But I’m really looking forward to trying it out. And as for the version...Well, Civ V is what was there at the shop. :) And for $5, even if I ultimately don’t like it it’s not like I’m really out much.

They always looked like nebulae to me. I figured they were really powerful lenses.
SO POWERFUL THEY REFLECT THE LIGHT OF THE ORION NEBULA!! Yeah, that should be the advertising slogan on those puppies. :)

could be they have graphics chipsets that are defaulting to the maxis terrain due to inability to store it effectively in the graphics memory?
Apparently not in Jellybeanery’s case. :\ I’m still at a loss. If you’ve got any ideas about what else it might be, I’m all ears. Or eyes, as the case may be. :)

I think it's the light glaring off the lenses.
The light from the red district? :) No, you’re probably right, but...Geez, what color is the sun supposed to be in SimWorld? :)

Wow this is fabulous! So many objects that need to be recloned, but so worth it!
Yeah, there’s a lot of Maxis stuff that’s used outdoors that ought to be neighborhood-visible but isn’t. Especially when it comes to outdoor-type seating. And I don’t think the telescopes are neighborhood-visible, either, now that I think about it. Once you get used to doing it, though, it goes quickly.

Steven! No! D:
I KNOW! I was bummed. Frankly, I could stand to lose Arcadia, but I was hoping Steven would spawn some more, if nothing else. I need more population that “counts,” and he had that convenient Family aspiration...

usually they cry for sims they have memories of. like if the dead sim taught them to walk/talk, i've seen before that they cry sometimes even if theres no blood relation.
I’ve never seen that happen in my game. In this case, I know Steven taught Will to talk, at least. But, no mourning from him. Now I’m wondering if I’ve got a mod that’s interfering. Hmmm.....
didilysims replied to your post “Aww you almost had the Aristocats in your game <3”
A lot of Disney is overrated. Emperor's New Groove? Seriously underrated. But I got The Aristocats for my birthday as a kid and watched it probably 100 times at least, so it's near and dear to my heart.
I really don’t know why I never saw The Aristocats. I mean, I was a kid when it was made and all, but I only ever saw the older Disney movies from the 40s or so. (Fantasia is another favorite.) I saw the later Disney movies from the 90s and 2000s because I had kids then, so we saw them in the theater, and I got them when they came out on video, and they watched them ad nauseum. (And The Lion King is one of Ethan’s favorite movies; it resonates with him because he lost his dad at an age when he really needed one. So, we watch that one a lot and I bristle because of all the hyena maligning.) But I don’t think I’ve seen any Disney movie from the 70s in its entirety,
Now as for Emperor’s New Groove: I will argue (and HAVE argued) that it’s the best buddy movie ever made. Kronk and Eartha Kitt’s scenery-chewing (She did it SO well, always did) is just bonus.

Ohhhhh, you probably really don’t. *laugh*

Thank you so much for this, I might give it a go tonight! I surrounded my campsite with nengi's bigger bourgainvillas and it's been driving me crazy that they are invisible from any other lot ^__^
Good luck with it! I thought those bougainvilleas were already neighborhood-visible, though...Or maybe I made them so. I don’t remember... Anyway, let me know if you have any trouble!

What is this Enterprise show you mention? I am sure it does not exist.
I dunno, I heard a rumor about it. Something about a prequel sort of thing, only done way after the other shows were produced. Seems like kind of a dumb idea...
(Seriously, I really wanted to like Enterprise. I really, really like Scott Bakula. Quantum Leap is one of my favorite shows. And while I enjoyed a few of the episodes, the writers just didn’t seem to know what to do with any of the characters, especially the poor helmsman dude, which is sad because he was a very pretty black man. I mean, I don’t even remember his name... And of course they had to sex up the female Vulcan. *sigh* They get points for destroying Florida, though. No, I’m kidding. Well, sort of...)
