They’re already very poor, and we’re working on that repo ROS from last week so, uh. No moneys.

But! The Law Enforcement career has been unlocked for a while, so we’re finally putting Jannick in it! Since it’s his LTW and all.

He heads around back to jump rope to build his body skill and also ignore the man coming to take away even more of his possessions.

Hema comes home with Maggie, and they make quick friends ♥

Birthday time for Isla Brisa’s first baby!

Jana and Jannick think this is more important than celebrating their daughter’s birthday. Keep in mind this is all in one room. Shame!

Maggie grows into a Pleasure sim who likes charismatic women who wear jewelry, so long as they’re not in shape. Her LTW eventually rolls as Become a Professional Party Guest.

I liked this default replacement, but I think those boobs are pretty ridiculous, especially for a teenager :/ I mean, I had boobs that size at 14, but still. It was awful. And I’m not a fan of sexualizing teen girls. I replaced the replacement, but does anybody know where I can find those shorts, or a mesh that uses those shoes/socks?

Jana maxes out painting! Hopefully some more income will start rolling in between this and Jannick’s job, and they won’t live in poverty any longer.

Returning to her first love.

As you can see, I changed Maggie’s clothes. She’s a big fan of jump roping.

Boris: Well. You can do this.

Boris: Jana. I want to apologize.

Jana: For what?

Boris: I treated you and Jannick unfairly. Now I am married to Philippe and I am very happy. I want no bad blood.

Jana: Look, Boris. I appreciate it, but I think it would be better for all of us if you stopped lingering around here. If you’re really happy with Philippe, why do you stalk Jannick?

Boris: Stalk? I do not stalk! I come here to apologize, and you are still so rude to me? Fine. I will leave.

I still don’t know how to run sim businesses. And LOL, Maggie, no.

You make do when you have no money for a dining table, or even separate rooms. All you need is love!

Really? REALLY? You took the store opening sign? But this is their last challenge-dictated reposession, so at least they start paying their bills again. With all three simoleons they have in the bank.

Caroline: Jannick! Hey! It seems our girls are becoming friends.

Jannick: Indeed. Have you heard from Boris lately?

Caorline: Yeah, I have. Look, Jannick. Let it go. You both have great new families...you don’t need this.

We interrupt the drama for this Very Important Announcement.

Jannick: Caroline, I just don’t think you can understand. You’ve never really been one for relationships.

Caroline: That doesn’t mean I don’t know how they work. Jannick, you need to let. Go. It will start causing problems.

Jannick: Not in front of my wife, okay?

What a coincidence that that night, Jana pops the question. Jannick accepts, of course.

She’s a good egg.

Despite the earlier hug rejection, Maggie and Jana do occasionally bond.

So good! That’s three promotions in a week!

Minor events: Tax refund: Turns out you paid too much tax, and you're getting a refund. Add d10 * 100 to the family funds. 

Major events: Alien abduction: It looks like you've been 'chosen'. Get abducted d12 times within one rotation -- if you end up with a little 'present' from your visits it's up to you to decide what you do with it.

They rolled a perfect 10 for the tax refund, giving them and extra thousand, and ELEVEN for the alien abduction! Caroline’s the lucky winner there, since Jannick already produced a child and Boris is a family sim.

The Sims 2 businesses are a mystery to me.

With the tax refund, I decided to build a tiny little store on the lot. This is a preview of what Caroline’s actual community lot will look like, if we ever unlock it in her lifetime.

I always forget when my sims are playful!

Boris passes the time while he waits for Caroline by playing fetch with Tiffany.

Splat! Accompanied by a funny little jingle.

This was a strong contender for the teaser pic, but the bulk of this update is Caroline’s alien abduction. Despite my immense love for Boris, it just wasn’t as relevant.

Caroline: I think that spaceship made me spacesick.

Oooh, hi Taylor! I’m not sure how I feel about this plantsim replacement. It’s a bit too Maxis-Matchy. But it definitely beats just the plain old Maxis one.

Fucking Yvette Zhang here is the local business reviewer, and she is FICKLE.

Pregnant! Caroline doesn’t take to it well. 

While Caroline is out of commission, Jannick fills in at the shop. Boris is too shy and busy with Tiffany.

Caroline: The sun is good for Baby!

Jannick: You are Boris’s dog. Not mine. This is not my job.

I feel like I haven’t given a good shot of Caroline’s face yet, so here she is. I created her based off a word prompt--I was going to do randomly generated word prompt sims for download, but decided against it, and instead I’m doing the NATO series. The word was “combination” or something to that effect; hence the neon and the multi-colored color scheme. She, Jana Plum and Philippe Vamsi were all sims I had lying around that fit into what I rolled for the challenge. The rest were all created for it.

Second trimester.

Jannick: Your pregnancy has me thinking, Caroline. I miss Jana and Maggie. I want to turn it from a fling to a relationship.

Caroline: What about Boris?

Jannick: The feeling, it is not the same. Why else would I have strayed?

Boris: Hold her. I feel another one coming.

So here are the babies. Two girls. On the top is the secondborn, with alien skin and eyes, named Olivia. On the bottom is the firstborn, with Caroline’s skin and eyes is Sam.. Yeah, those gray eyes are supposed to be Caroline’s rainbow-colored eyes. Guess I’ll have to look into why that’s happening. I fix it later in SimPE.

Jannick: Boris, you are a beautiful, beautiful man, but I have a confession. I do not love you. I love Jana.

Boris: It is because I am demon, yes?

Jannick: No, not that! Never that! It’s just that when I think about my future, I think about Jana.

Boris: She is so mean to me, Jana. She only likes humans. It must be because I am demon.

Back at work! In her pajamas, but she’s a new mother, we can forgive her.

A puppy! Quick, Boris! 

Jana comes around, ostensibly to shop at Caroline’s store but really to visit Jannick. But when Jannick tries to kiss her, she denies him.

Jannick: Jana, I am crazy about you. I broke it off with Boris.

Jana: Did you really? You dumped that demon?

Jannick: Please, there is no reason to be mean to him. I have no hard feelings.

Drama! Drama all around! Caroline is less pleased about this pregnancy than the first, and having to break out the maternity dress Boris had so kindly sewn for her.

The twins’ birthdays come so quickly. A quiet affair, celebrated at home.

Olivia crawls off to the doghouse before I get a chance to do her makeover. Sam lagged behind in her aging, and I kept having problems with the cake.

Which led to this.

Jannick: Please, do not take her! She is like a sister to Boris and me! She has children, children she loves!

Success!!! I was on the edge of my seat, so afraid. As if I couldn’t love Jannick more, he saves Caroline from certain death ♥

We can finally geta round to Sam’s birthday!

Jannick: I hope you can both understand. This business with life and death in this house, it has helped me realize what matters most. And that is Jana and Maggie. I have decided to move in with Jana, so that we may  be a proper faily.

Caroline: But...the twins...and I’m pregnant again...Jannick, I think of you like a brother. I understand you love Jana, but...why can’t she move in here?

Jannick: Do not be silly. We all know this house is not big enough. You can use my room as a nursery, now.

Boris: You hurt me deeply.

Olivia is still bald and neglected while the adults sort out their problems.

But with the help of nanny Boris, here, I’m able to get the makeovers accomplished.

Sam Lott

Sloppy/Neat: 10 Shy/Outgoing: 0 Lazy/Active: 10 Serious/Playful: 5 Grouchy/Nice: 10

She looks more like Caroline than her sister. She does have the pointy alien ears, which you can see at some angles, but I thought this hair was too cute on her to pass up. Still with the gray eyes; they’re fixed two rounds from now.

Olivia Lott

Sloppy/Neat: 10 Shy/Outgoing: 6 Lazy/Active: 10 Serious/Playful: 1 Grouchy/Nice: 8

Olivia is the more serious yet outgoing twin, but otherwise her and Sam’s dispositions are pretty similar. She and Sam both grew up with custom hair--presumably from Caroline--but I let Sam’s be black and gave Olivia the custom hair.

Boris picks up the childcare slack while Caroline enters the later stages of her pregnancy.

Purely platonic, with incompatible orientations, they still find comfort in one another after Jannick’s departure. They understand that he loves Jana, but they cannot help but feel betrayed.

We end this update with shots of adorable Olivia and Sam (I favor Sam, ngl.) A very eventfual week for the Fire/Lott/Brightly household, which has been reduced to the Lott/Brightly household. Jannick moving out and alien babies! Boris fell back from the limelight, but not for long. You’ll see.

ISLA BRISA // WEEK ONE YEAR ONE // FIRE/LOTT/BRIGHTLY HOUSEHOLD

FOLLOW THE CUT:

Though I intended for this lot to be Jannick Fire’s house, I had Caroline Lott buy the business (for reasons you’re about to see.) So, it’s technically Caroline’s house. Anyway, I’ll give Jannick’s stats first. He’s a Family sim who wants to be Captain Hero, which methinks is fitting for an ex-explorer. He’s on the neat side (six points), outgoing (seven points) and active (eight points) but quite serious (two points) and grouchy (two points.) Jannick is bisexual, and he likes red hair and makeup, but isn’t a fan of underwear.

As for Caroline, she’s a Fortune sim who one day wants to reach the top of the Adventure career. She’s sloppy (two points), shy (three points), not very lazy or active (five points), pretty playful (eight points) and nice (seven points) as well. She’s straight, and she likes formal wear and custom hair (a rhyme!) but not the smooth talkers.

Boris Brightly is my personal favorite of the house--I’m allowed to admit I have biases, okay--and our half-incubus Russian boy is a Family sim who wants to raise twenty kittens or puppies! His personality is that of extremes: exceptionally neat (nine points), painfully shy (zero points), active enough (six points), very, very serious (zero points) but painfully nice (ten points.) He’s gay, and he likes highly employed blond men so long as they’re not wearing hats.

The Fire/Lott/Brightly house rolled a challenge wherein every one of their sinks  break for the week. I remember this at some point, and act accordingly.

First things first: Caroline goes fishing. Unlocking the marine scientist career is pretty easy, and it turns out her OTH is Nature! 

So Caroline decides to open up a store and sell the fish she catches to feed the neighborhood.

Jannick and Boris begin to get to know each other over a game of chess.

Of course, Boris becomes quickly distracted by the first dog he sees. Her name is Tiffany, and she becomes a member of the family soon enough.

This is ALL Tiffany does. Constantly. Ceaselessly. I swear to God.

The sun sets on their first day. Caroline will open her business tomorrow, Boris will work with Tiffany and Jannick gets to cook and clean.

Boris wanted to explore his creative side.

I really like how I decorated their rooms, so have some gratuitous first-night-sleeping shots. I don’t know what’s up with the pool thing in Jannick’s picture. It wouldn’t go away! I had to find increasingly creative angles to avoid it.

In the morning I remember to break the sinks, and in starting to repair them Boris learns his OTH is Tinkering! He’s not the sim I have planned to max the mechanical skill so we can unlock electricity, but that doesn’t mean we can’t put that skill to use in other ways.

Unsurprisingly, Boris and Jannick are attracted to each other. Let’s check out their relationship panesl:

Two bolts! Not bad. I’m not influencing their relationship in anyway, just letting ACR take control. Mostly because I don’t really see them ending up with each other, but sometimes the game has other plans.

First day of business! Notice the townies. It’s embarassing, but I only skimmed the instructions on creating a townie-less neighborhood, and I quite obviously failed. I tried to kill them all off, but I kept crashing my game in the process and fucking up, and I didn’t want to have to deal with the 300 or so graves. Luckily this works for Isla Brisa, because we can just assume that they’re vacationers/tourists/visitors. And, of course, Caroline’s going to try and sell them some fish.

Caroline: Fresh catch of the day! No preservatives, no nothing, just fish from the fresh, beautiful waters of Isla Brisa!

While Boris is otherwise preoccupied, Jannick takes up the slack of training Tiffany. Boris is hoping to find a nice male dog for Tiffany and start breeding her, and sell the puppies to the households of Isla Brisa.

Jannick: Hey. Boris.

Boris: What? This my room. What you doing here?

Jannick: I was thinking, maybe we could try sleeping together.

Boris: Sleeping together?

Jannick: Not like that. Just...sleeping together. In the same bed. It gets lonely at night, ja? Surprisingly cold?

Boris: I guess.

Jannick: I just want to be close to you.

Waking up the next morning, Boris can’t help but feel like he’s being tricked. What did his mother tell him, that one night she was too deep into the vodka--his father had crept into her room while she was asleep, and she’d barely known he was there. Jannick is nice, and cute, and funny, and smart--but Boris is tentative, beyond tentative. Still, it’s nice to feel him in his arms, the morning sun falling over them.

Caroline’s making good progress! She’s very skill and money-focused, and not too interested in relationships for now.

I bought Boris a toy-making bench. Loving children as he does, he wants to make toys for Caroline to sell to the vacationers and, eventually, the children of Isla Brisa.

I know the rules say no workbenches, but come on. What about carving bricks requires electricity???

Oooh, it’s Jana! Our first resident walkby! Figures she’d want to come scope out the business competition.

Caroline has a very bad habit of wandering off in the middle of sales to build sandcastles.

Being a family sim does not exclude you from being a flirt, and Jannick does like his redheads.

Jana decides she’s not impressed with Caroline’s small store. Is this the beginning of a fortune sim rivalry?

Jannick and Boris share their first kiss. They have a mutual, unspoken agreement to take it slow.

Jana: You’re selling fish. In front of your house. On the grass.

Caroline: So?

Jana: It’s unprofessional--

Caroline: Look, Jana. I don’t need your thoughts on how to run my business, okay? Because it’s just that. My business.

Jannick goes fishing. Sexily.

I din’t know that was a thing!

Caroline has a breakdown. I’m sorry!!! I’ve never played with businesses before! I don’t know how to do it!

Caroline: Maybe if I dress in my bikini, I’ll sell more! Sex sells. It’s like the most basic thing. And it’s thematically appropriate, you know. The ocean. The water.

Jannick: You do not have to resort to degrading yourself to make money.

I like that his beach towel is black.

Caroline: I knew the bikini would work, Mr. Brick.

Caroline, have you ever heard of not getting high off your own supply?

Oh sweet Jesus. Nobody tell Caroline.

Boris: Nice dog. No more eating flowers.

Tiffany: *will continue to eat the flowers*

Oh, thank God. Why is this so hard??

Boris: Jannick, I buy new clothes. I think...was much too hot in old clothes. I...Do you like?

Jannick: Let me show you just how much I like them.

MARJORIE!!! As you notice, she’s in outerwear. I tried fiddling around with the seasons so that there’d never be winter or fall, but when I did, aging stopped. Oh well.

Jannick takes over sales so Caroline can go and chat with Marjorie.

Nothing says “mayor-citizen bonding” like throwing around the pigskin!

Despite all of this, Caroline is still struggling.

A lot.

But hey, it’s Pontius!

And that’s the end of the first week for the Fire/Lott/Brightly house! Slow but persistent progress was made. They pay $100 in taxes, as everybody will the first week. Next week we’ll see if Boris and Jannick make a commitment, and if Caroline can dig herself out of the throes of finance sim depression.

If you recall, Jannick decided to move out of his house and into Jana’s at the end of his round. This makes Jannick a week older than everybody else, but that’s okay, because he’s supposed to be the oldest settler anyway.

And Jana had Isla Brisa’s first baby, Maggie, who unfortunately lacks a body. Fear not, she’ll become a toddler soon enough.

lol Jannick, you want to make it up to Boris after you broke it off with him by hiring him as an employee??? Really???

So, the ROS! For this week:

First, baby must be bathed.

Here she is, the little sweetie. She’s sloppy (3), very outgoing (10), very active (10) and pretty neutral on serious and playful with 5 points each.

Jana: We are very poor and I do not like that :(

Jannick is such a good father ♥

And he cleans, too.

As a baby, Maggie suffered from a lack of body. As a toddler, she suffers from a displaced jaw.

She is mobile.

Before they know it, it’s time for Maggie to become a child.

They can’t afford a bed for Maggie, so every night becomes a game of Musical Bed and Couch.

When Caroline walks around--which happens often, since their hosues are across from one another--Jannick makes sure to go out and greet her. He still feels guilty about abandoning her with the twins.

Another attempt at a family dinner.

LOL. I know it’s because they have like, no money, but it’s funny for a FAMILY SIM to roll that fear.

Jana exists in a state of aspiration failure. Also, if you notice Tropico’s cage moving around, it’s on purpose. Sometimes he gets stuck in the door and the only way to fix it is by moving his cage.

But I like him, and so does Maggie, so he gets to stay.

Things could probably be going better for the Plums.

The napping child animation is definitely one of the cutest.

Guys. Maggie is back there. She hasn’t gone to sleep yet. Guys?

Well, that makes sense! Also, I realize you guys haven’t seen Maggie’s actual everyday wear yet.

The Plum family dynamic: Jannick parents extraordinarily; Jana worries much about money. They’re like, the Platonic ideals of a fortune and a family sim.

At least she’s having fun?

So thus ends the Plum’s second week! They’re impoverished, but a very happy family. The ROS of the repoman will roll over until he comes three times.

An Introduction to the Settlers of Isla Brisa // Jannick Fire, Caroline Lott & Boris Brightly

An explorer originally from Sweden, Jannick Fire has decided to finally settle down somewhere tropical. And he wants to settle down: he wants a family. Fire’s not his given name, but his “celebrity” name, and in Isla Brisa he had it officially changed. Unfortunately, exploring doesn’t pay much, so for now he has to live with his two roommates, Caroline Lott and Boris Brightly.

Caroline Lott’s rare form of vitiligo (neon vitiligo) stands out like a sore thumb in the small, drab English town she’s from. While in University she did a semester abroad in South Simerica and fell in love with the place. Perhaps here, on this island filled with other misfits, she can find acceptance. And money. Lots of money.

Outcasted from his Simberian village due to being seen as a demon (he’s not; his father was an incubus, sure, but the devilish tendencies don’t pass down) Boris Brightly needed to find somewhere else to live, and Isla Brisa was far enough away from all things Russian. He doesn’t know how he’ll adjust to the weather, so used to keeping his “demon skin” covered, but he’ll try. More than anything, he wants to find love and a family—somebody who will love him unconditionally, unlike his previous village.
