hello!! i was wondering if there’s a faster/more efficient way to gather talent books? those used to level up their magic!

1. is alchemy lessons the only way?

2. is it worth buying from the shop?

i feel like the biggest book (?) is so hard to obtain ideh a lv10 magic level rn 😭 thank you in advance!!

Hello! There are several ways to obtain textbooks:

Alchemy Lessons: The easiest way to get notepads, textbooks, and grimoires. The rates of getting notepads is much higher than the other two, but I would say this is the most efficient way of farming.

Test/Exam Battles: When you win a battle, the game will reward you with either a notepad, a textbook, or a grimoire (the biggest book). The color of those items depends on the test you do (i.e. if you do a Water test, you get a blue textbook). If you do 5 battles at once, you’ll get 5 of the same item. So for example, if you do 5 tries at once and the item dropped is a grimoire, you get 5 grimoires. Note that you have limited tries, so you can’t solely depend on tests.

Room Clean-up: When you clean your room, you can get random items. Sometimes, you may be able to get a textbook or grimoire, but this is pretty rare, from what I’ve observed.

Sam Gacha/Mystery Box: You sell items for recycle tokens and use them to obtain items. Textbooks and grimoires are pretty easy to get. However, be careful of how much items you’re selling. You may need them in the future too.

Shop: With Alchemy tokens, you can buy a textbook for 9 tokens and a grimoire for 15. If you do a lot of alchemy, you can accumulate enough to buy the desired amount of books you need.

Personally, what I do is that I grind on alchemy when leveling a spell from 1 -> 9, along with getting any drops from exams and room cleanup. But once I start the climb from 9 -> 10, I buy grimoires through the shop. I likely end up having 80 textbooks or close to it (if leveling up SR and SSR) from grinding for previous levels, so I don’t buy those.

Another thing to note as well is that during NY and anniversary, there is a boost in the rate of items that are dropped. It's one of the best times to use your AP/LP refills since you get more items in general, which means better chances of getting textbooks and grimoires (for JP, we have a month left till our anniversary. For EN, time to wait another year).

You can also farm for books during events that have generally low drop rates on their respective event items (i.e. Portfest and Harveston). You may end up using AP/LP refills to get more of those items, so I encourage you use them on alchemy days where you need to farm for textbooks/grimoires.
