Ig QoS and Camille is more akin to what Vita Mortis does, where he's sort of like the mentor/support agent/proctor for recruits who are ready to advance to the finals. vs just training up a mixed batch like in a class. but yeah I just.... really kinda feel like if we have a Bond who wants to / is ready to willingly retire. I really like all 3 boys, but I'm leaning Zayne bc he's just so husband coded. He's the only one I could see a long-term relationship w. I love Xavier and Rafayel, but I just can't picture them as husbands or dads (at least w my MC/myself). I also desperately need them to interact in game and in the main story, there's just sm potential for chaos and funnies.

I honestly dk what will happen next. Obviously, MC is gonna want to investigate Onichynus and her heart, but idk how that story will unfold or how they'll tie in the stories w each li and their separate myths/reincarnation bit. (Also, the fact that the myths happen in the future doesn't make sense to me yet, so I hope they plan to really flesh that out and not give us questionable writing like most mobile otomes do). Idk how I feel abt Sylus (and possibly Caleb) becoming lis, ig I'll have to see what they're like and if they appeal to me at all, bc so far we haven't had enough Caleb content for me to actually get attached (I was also convinced he was MCs brother so idt I'll ever be able to see him romantically 😭).

I hope we'll get to see more of the side characters and what MCs life is like outside of just the three guys, but I honestly doubt it lmao (more for me to hc abt ig lol).

the main story is genuinely fascinating. i was a little bit bored up until the explosion happened and it really kicked in. bc suddenly it's not just 3 guys and you doing your best, but you actively investigating and them helping you. like i said i don't have raf's myth and i haven't finished zayne's yet (need more fucking upgrades to his card) so i don't have the full story but at least what i'm getting right now is okay. they're all from the past or future. they all remember?? xavier and rafayel definitely do. zayne knows something about grandma who seems kinda shady to me. i've seen the caleb=sylus or at least caleb lives theories. i saw someone say the man at the end isn't sylus though? and his english va is the same as caleb's but in other languages it's someone else. idk.

Looking at skgy on twt and there's this up-and-coming skgy author (i call them that bc i see a lot of ppl hype up their writing + they have a low number of skgy fics published to date but they seem to have plans to write more) who got a reply on one of their twts recommending xiajin's gold fever... AND THE AUTHOR SEEMED LIKE THEY HAD NEVER READ THAT FIC BEFORE. WE ARE LOSING THE ANCIENT TEXTS IN THIS SHIP FANDOM OR WHATEVER THAT PHRASE IS

Do people not go through a ship's tag on ao3? Do people only start following from the date they get into a ship and ignore all the history past page 1? Am i weird for spending weeks on months going through the entire skgy ao3 tag when i first got into the ship over a year ago? Do we really have that much skgy content now that ppl feel no need to go digging for more (and when i first got into the ship in late 2023, there was already quite a decent amount)?

I'm probably not giving enough grace bc everyone has that period where they're new to a ship so perhaps they haven't really started digging yet and xiajin hasn't posted in a while, but that really shocked me. But another part of it is that lately i feel like i've seen more and more skgy fans on twt bemoan not having content and i'm like if you (general) haven't read gold fever for instance... what else haven't you read? There's a lot of good stuff in the skgy ao3 tag if you dig (iirc, i think i really enjoyed works from the 2021-early 2023 period), and we can hype those works up in the meantime (although tbf the skgy ao3 tag is p active. I have been in ship fandoms before with FAR less constant activity). Or maybe it's just the minority being vocal and the majority of fans do pore over the tag and older content silently. But idk it just makes me sad to see ppl pretend like we have to keep building from the ground up when ppl in the past have already laid bricks...

(On that note, I feel obligated to give a skgy fic recommendation... i'd like to offer up you know you should —. Story-wise, it's a non-idol AU where nurse dk meets the absent son of one of his patients and hates him immediately, but despite never seeming to see eye to eye, time brings them closer. It was a fic i read early on when i was first getting into this ship and to this day i still consider it the best fic in the skgy tag. I haven't read it in a long while tbh, but from what i remember the story was good, it characterized the two and the messy skgy dynamic very well, the slow burn was enjoyable, and the author writes emotions well (balances humor and serious throughout, the characters' feelings or emotion/vibe of the scene are visceral). Lawd i just skimmed it again so i could better comment on it and it's too good. I remember back then i also appreciated how it included switch gyky/skgy (even if in-story the preference is skgy) bc at the time i was wading through the tag, a lot of fics would either just do skgy or gyky exclusively - which is fine! But skgy switch for sure imo, that is simply just their dynamic.

Anyway... complete topic change but Skgy just feels too hard for me to write these days, i feel like i no longer have a good grasp of their characters. Maybe i need to just FINISH things, actually turn my outlines into finished stories, and it'll come back to me but will it? mads! our favorite 🫟burstday🫟album is out.. honestly i had low expectations so i’m pleasantly surprised by a lot of the songs. hated hbd as expected tho lol. pretty good verses and pre-chorus and then… happy birthday to you 👩🏻‍🎤🤘🏼 comes on. least favorite solo was actually jeonghan’s and not dk’s (which is sonically decent but the chorus is still kinda corny 😩). woozi solo genuinely sounds like one of the mass songs we used to sing in my all-girls catholic school way back—not a bad thing, but kinda messes with me LOL

dino solo sounds like an iteration of ‘wait’ if the pussycat dolls did the verses. vernon’s was so close to hitting the ‘intentionally corny pop punk’ mark but there’s something about it that wasn’t doing it for me. wonwoo solo is ‘girl who’s going to be ok’ montage music LMAO mingyu solo is pretty fun and i think this is the best he’s rapped his whole career (low bar ik..) but the rap does sound a bit like lalali. the8 solo makes me feel high. hoshi solo is the most ‘spider’ he’s sounded. love that for him tbh. thunder is pretty fun! but i really need them to let go of that specific “twang” they incorporate into their verse delivery……. the major offenders being hoshi woozi mingyu :(

🍳: would say its q cool tbh theyre really engaging and helps to break the ice for newcomers to familiarise themselves with the church environment - also they were talking about a church camp??? where one of the youth groups MAY just sneak off and go shopping but who knows!!

on to the actual church - their sermon room wasn't as cool as the previous one but NO MATTER because i later noticed that their service hall is actually on the 1st floor and the one we went to was probably the youth one on the like, 4th, floor.

their service was p cool, normal stuff, they had icebreakers but i dunno if it was just because we went there during an event sorta thing. the youth after the session was cool, the people were nice and the discussions were actually p cool. i kinda got confused but is ALL GOOD bcs they went thru it after.

THEY HAVE A GAME ROOM/ YOUTH HANG OUT PLACE that has a SWITCH. if you like super smash - boy is this the church for you. the vibes are cool and genuinely might keep going back to it bcs my friend also goes there and you can drop by the church lounge any day of the week? which i think is p cool.

started w band and icebreakers, then had prayers lead by the youth leader(?) and then the pastor mans.

THEN we split off into groups to talk in youth groups i suppose which was mildly scary because idk how to talk to people??? but yes then we started discussing what the pastor was talking about during the session - was q interesting? they tried to initiate more interactive discussion then concluded.

THEN WE GOT TO THE SWITCHES THEY HAVE A WHOLE ASS ROOMMM FOR GAMES AND STUFF like there was a switch (which the boys were addicted to btw??), a random basketball lying around, a whole LIBRARY and sooo many chairs to sit around and talk.

after thattt we got free lunch (which was bombz af btw) then spedran awayyy. overall fun experience! people were welcoming and kind and it was interesting to listen to how they taught the sermons.

My Five Favorite Fics

This is funny because I’ve only published five on AO3 up to this point, so y’all can learn about what I like about each one. Thank you for tagging me bestie @selinascatnip and sister @jonskory

1. Show You The Stars in the Daylight - First Fic, First Multichapter, First Everything. I reread this one recently and fell in love all over again. It just screams me. I love to travel, especially to tropical locations, and I love DK. So put the two and two together. I started writing because there was so much I wanted to see for this ship and we have a lot of talented writers, but I personally needed more fun. So that’s why I wrote it. I also discovered here that I like writing romantic comedy, which is funny because I don’t actually watch a lot of romcoms, but I’m a sensitive Scorpio that uses humor to cope, so it tracks. This one is just a lot of sexy and fun, the perfect vibes.

2. Is This Real or is it In My Head - Wanted to challenge myself with incorporating a villain, and I heavily disclaimed that I knew nothing about him and this is when we had very minimal information except casting news. It was tough for me to write, because I was like what is the purpose, where I am going?? And it seemed like SYTS just spilled out of me (I had four chapters written in one night). However DK needed all the help they could get and why shouldn’t BB use his mind control for good and bring our babies together, idk. I don't know if my besties just love me or what, but it was better received than I had thought it would be, again because I struggled a bit pulling it all together and making it make sense to me.

3. It’s Like Two Stars Colliding - Oooo the pregnancy fic. I’m at an age and stage in my life where my baby fever is at an ALL TIME HIGH. I’ve never been pregnant myself, but when the time comes, I definitely look forward to it. So this was a way for me to work through all that baby fever. I LOVE pregnancy fics (obviously) and had only seen a few in the DK fandom so I was like ugh I gotta write one. Feral Dads, Obsessive Dads, Smitten Dads, I need it ALL. And this turned into a multichapter so that was fun too.

4. Love Me Like We Don't Have Tomorrow - I was listening to Zayn and crying in the car about DK like I usually am and got this angsty idea which was also really sexy and just started to write. I have been listening to a lot of contemporary adult romance, special shout out to my baby sis @jonskory and Book ClubTM and I was like I gotta step my smut game all the way up. So this one was a smut challenge. I really love this concept and the smut was so beautiful and fun even though the undertones were angsty. Like damn you wait until the last night to admit to the person you love how you feel and then they leave(maybe), fuck kill me now. Also I had just finished my s3 rewatch and I was pissed at how other characters were beating my beloved down about how he compared to his father, but the love of his life did not! So I had to give them their moment. Definitely proud and love this one!

5. No One Loves You Like This - I will keep it simple. I just wanted to see the hot people f*ck in a nightclub. 🤣 We got those set videos of what appears to be a nightclub and I was ooooo I know what to do. My bestie @escapism-through-imagination had given me a little taste in one of hers, and with her blessing, I was like let me see how far I can take this. I also love creating looks for characters that we may not get to see in canon, so this was inspired by that as well. I got to collab on some amazing art with my dollbaby @not-so-mundane-after-all like how freaking dope is that! I've also been told that this has been my smuttiest work yet and I truly don't know how that happened. I guess it's just the power of the ship!

HOME;RUN - an analysis

So our boys SLAYED in this comeback and I am in love with the concept so much!! Seventeen in suits gets my heart fluttering ~

After watching the MV a couple of times (and being in awe of how good it is), this theory occurred to me:

The diamond represents stardom and CARATS; the MV is all about SEVENTEEN’s journey as idols and their relationship with CARATS.

I’m going to put this disclaimer up front: these are just my theories and other interpretations are totally valid. I love all thirteen boys, and I think they have really good relationships with each other! So if I bring up past incidents or controversies, it’s from a place of love. I’m not trying to stir drama or criticize them. This essay is a love letter to them because I personally find the MV so meaningful. Also, I’ve been a Carat less than a year (this is my second comeback, fourth comeback if you count Japan releases) so please tell me if I’ve made mistakes ~

S.Coups and the baseball

When the MV starts, Seungcheol’s hit a wall, literally. (Additional symbolism regarding the wall to come later.)

Why? If you think back to the start of Coups’ career, he was training with NU’EST but he didn’t get to debut with them; he hit a wall at the start when it came to debut. Then, the diamond hits him: Seventeen comes along (and with that, Carats) and it changes his life, launching him to the public eye and stardom.

But at the same time, the diamond hits him on the head and knocks him out for a while, and this is kinda symbolic of his hiatus last year. He took a break because of his anxiety; anxiety caused by knowing how much the fans love him, and not wanting to let them down. The impact of idol life made him feel so pressured that he needed to take a step back.

But! At the end, Coups picks up the diamond again; he’s ready to resume his journey, and perform for Carats!!

Mingyu, Wonwoo, and Seokmin at the bar

The scene cuts from Coups to the boys at the bar, and I can think of a few reasons for the choices!

Firstly, Mingyu. Gyu’s the one who gave the shoutout to Coups during their daesang acceptance speech while he was on his hiatus. That was a huge moment in their careers - recognition not just from their diamond fans, but also from the general public.

Secondly, Wonwoo. He’s had his own struggles with anxiety and not feeling good enough too, and he’s shared before that he wonders what he has to make fans love him. (Also, I love the Wonwoo-Coups gamer-bro bond ~)

Then we have DK, and I feel like the choice of DK here is because he’s a leader too, even if we forget that often. Back when it was announced DK would be leading BSS, he cited Coups as his inspiration for being a good leader; he’s watching Coups’ example.

(I’m not totally certain about the symbolism here though, so feel free to chime in!)

Hoshi, Jun, and Dino’s dance

Our performance unit leader’s the one who first appears and starts dancing; he’s the choreographer, and the one that the members look to when performing!

(Other than that, I don’t think there’s a lot of deep symbolism; it’s just a fun dance break lol. The dance breaks are all just cool choreo moments ~)

Vernon and the gambling den

This scene basically focuses on Hansol, who’s just chilling and vibing while everyone else is fighting.

The background of this set is some sort of gambling den, and we see chips and cards flying around. What do people associate with gambling? Money. Think back to the early days of Vernon’s career; he was involved in Show Me The Money, and it caused a ton of controversy and undeserved hate.

Yet, in the midst of all this chaos, Hansol’s just rapping and vibing, because our boy rose above all the hate that was directed at him to become an amazing rapper!! Also he’s just so chill all the time and we love him for it ~ that’s how he gets hold of the diamond in the midst of this chaos!!!

(also, he passes it to Minghao. Why does he pass it to Hao? idk can’t really explain. Any ideas?)

The8 and Joshua in the car

For this scene, we switch to black and white, which kinda shows that there’s a certain nostalgia here.

Minghao’s holding the diamond and looking at it carefully, with a certain distance. As we all know, Hao’s someone who’s very realistic; he reminds us of the distance between idols and fans, and doesn’t do any of the flirty playing around. But it doesn’t mean that he loves and treasures us less! It’s because he cares about Carats that he wants us to remember to lead our own lives and focus on ourselves too ~

Meanwhile, Shua’s driving the car. Why the deliberate choice of Hao and Shua? They’re the ones who had to travel to get that diamond; they left their homes to come to Korea to become stars and in doing so, earn the fans’ love. It’s been a long, hard road, and I respect them so much for taking it.

(What about Jun and Hansol? I’m sure some of you will ask. Hansol isn’t really foreign line; he was born and raised in Korea, there wasn’t any travelling. As for Jun, he was a highly-acclaimed child star with his own fans and career before he travelled to Korea to become a part of Seventeen, so he wasn't really chasing stardom.)

Dino and Wonwoo on the train

After the theatre dance break, our maknae gets on that train and promptly starts searching everywhere for the diamond. 

Why? In my opinion, Chan’s criminally underappreciated in the fandom; he’s so so incredible (just look at his rap + visuals here!), but he just doesn’t get enough love from the fans; that’s why he’s trying so hard to get that diamond! (also, give Dino more respect yall, he deserves it)

Wonwoo’s also searching for the diamond. Remember the analysis earlier: he doesn’t think that he has much presence or charisma to attract fans. He’s looking for the love and fans too.

Mingyu and Jeonghan on the train

Two things to note before we break down the scene: they’re probably the ones with the diamond at the start of this scene (since they’re the thieves in the newspaper), but by the next scene, they’ve somehow lost the diamond to Wonwoo.

Firstly, we see that Gyu and Hannie both cover their faces. They’re largely considered to be two of the best visuals in the group. I believe this represents a fear of theirs; that without their looks, they’ll lose the fans’ love.

Secondly, they run away from the train (likely leaving the diamond behind). Both Jeonghan and Mingyu have taken time away from the public eye lately. Hannie suffered from dizziness because he pushed himself so hard to perform for us, not wanting to disappoint Carats, until his body forced him to take a break. Gyu basically disappeared from view during the Itaewon controversy and all the hate he was getting. Thus, them running away from the train symbolises them taking a break from the idol life.

Wonwoo has the diamond now, and he’s got it under a magnifying glass and he’s examining it closely. 

The magnifying glass gives you the chance to see something’s flaws. With the recent Curry incident, Wonwoo’s seen the ugly side of stardom (personal take: yes he messed up, but I do think it was an honest mistake, please no discourse in the comments). He looks at it, he sees the flaws, and he puts it down; he’s examined it for flaws and he needs to take some time away from being an idol (see: him basically going off the radar for a while there).

Why does Minghao grab the diamond and run off with it? A ton of things happened to SVT in recent months, which are largely referenced in chronological order: Coups’ hiatus > Jeonghan’s hiatus > Itaewon incident > Curry incident > The Tag and Minghao getting a ton of attention.

Hao really shone so much in The Tag for his cool attitude; he got talked about everywhere, GoSe views shot up, and new Carats were converted! (The attention on Hao also helped the controversies to start dying down, because the news had something new and interesting to talk about.) Beyond GoSe, Hao's just been getting a ton of attention lately - Falling Down, more screen time, and more lines! (I've been so bias wrecked by him it's not even funny.) He really be running off with the diamond and all the love from the fandom that he deserves ~

(personally, I really hope that The Tag will be the start of a nice, peaceful period, with lots of love and no incidents for our diamond boys ~)

Seungkwan and the pool table

After a fun bowling alley dance break, the diamond lands on the pool table and people start fighting over it before Seungkwan gets fed up and throws the diamond at the camera.

The moment I saw this scene, I was reminded of the fight in OFD (aka probably the only time SVT has really, actually fought onscreen). The thing about shows is that so much is done for “entertainment”. In the media industry, there’s a need to create drama to keep viewers watching and people interested. It’s an ugly, toxic part of stardom. I really, really hated that part of OFD; how hard the PDs pushed the boys to keep things entertaining, causing the hyper-competitive spirit and all the drama, was just too much for me.

But in OFD, Seungkwan worked really hard to reconcile the two teams, and to me that’s Seungkwan. He’s the one who’s good at variety and a drama queen, but he cares about the others so much. He’s not going to let stardom and the need to be entertaining actually, really affect their relationships. If the need to put on a show for the camera is creating conflict? Break the camera.

(also, pay attention to the newspaper at the end of this segment: the diamond is literally named the Carat Star - doesn’t it make sense that it symbolises CARATs and stardom?)

Jun, Woozi, and the brick wall

We’re back where the MV started at the brick wall, which I believe to be the brick wall from the L&R MV.

Jun just sees the diamond and… stops and blinks. Honestly the expression on his face is peak comedy right there and I feel like that’s so Jun. Thoughtful, quiet (at least on camera), observant, and just… intensely and effortlessly funny?! I’ve always felt that he’s someone who’s so incredibly gifted - visuals, vocals, dance - and he needs more love ~ (oops my ult bias is showing)

On the other hand, Woozi goes up there, grabs his bat, and breaks the glass to get the diamond. This has a couple of interpretations for me. As Seventeen’s producer, Woozi’s the one taking charge of their music; so much of their success from the start is because of his production (not forgetting Hoshi’s choreo, Vernon’s writing, Coups’ leadership, and the overall OT13!) He really takes charge of their musical sound, which has been so important in their rise to stardom and getting CARATs to slip into the diamond life.

Also, remember how I said we’re at the L&R wall? Heng:garae was Seventeen’s most successful comeback to date, and they shattered a ton of their previous records, just like Jihoon’s out here breaking the glass!

OT13 and Forever Diamond

In the last scene, we get a huge OT13 dance with fireworks and the words “Forever Diamond” in the background.

This scene actually made me cry the first time I saw it. The words made me think of that Weverse post that got Hoshi crying: even if one day Seventeen isn’t performing any more, they’ll still have been a part of our lives, and we’ll hear their names and remember that they were a part of our lives that brought us joy. The members have often talked about how much they all mean to each other, and how they hope that their relationship can last forever (see: HTR and also the Going 70 segment of Caratland). They’ve also expressed their hope that we’ll continue to love them for a long time. (dang why the heck am I crying while typing this)

“Forever Diamond” encapsulates the relationship that SEVENTEEN and CARATs have so well: they’re our diamond boys, and we’ve slipped into the diamond life. We’re both each other’s forever diamonds.

Hi all!

As 2020 comes to an end (thank whatever higher power there is), I wanted to share a list of my favorite songs! (the following are songs RELEASED this year) (I’ve included a list of songs that I heard this year, but weren’t released in 2020, after it). These are mostly korean/chinese.

Alright, this is in NO particular order, just my favorites. I’ve mostly included one song from a group/solo act and added their other great releases in description. It is mostly music that I listened to, so if your favs are not here, feel free to rec me good music! ENJOY!

BTS had a great year musically. 2 korean albums, 1 japanese and lots of solo stuff. I’ve been keeping an eye on Stray Kids ever since hellevator came out and this is my favourite song by them, so far (yes, i had a heart attack when i first saw Hyunjin). IU is an indisputable vocal queen, and her music always comforts me greatly so when i heard she was having a song produced by Yoongi, i promptly lost my shit. It was everything I expected and more and embodies sorrow and pain with great grace. Give you My Heart from the ‘Crash Landing on you OST’ was also a loved song this year.

How do i talk about the queens? TWICE is the group i go to when I want fun music with good vibes but this song has such bad b*tch vibes that i am in love. Most played : More & More (a bop), Don’t call me again, I can’t stop me (i love the way it flows), Handle It (the vocals??? How pretty this song is???) and Say Something (seriously, eyes wide open is an amazing album).

Criminal by Teamin

Where do i start with Lee Taemin? I love almost all his solo stuff. He grabbed me by the neck ever since ‘Move’ and hasn't let go. Criminal is SO taemin that i don't think anyone else could have delivered the concept with such grace and grit. Most Played : 2 Kids (the chorus is so good), Clockwork, Idea (i love the vibe) and Pansy (i'm a ballad hoe).

Maria by Hwasa

Listen, i loved Twit when it came out but i love Maria as her sound so much more. Most Played : I’m bad too (feat. DPR LIVE) (i love the beat, the vibe and the flavor), LMM and Orbit from ‘The King: Eternal Monarch OST’ (as soon as her voice comes in, i loved the song).

D-2 was everything expected from the second mixtape off Agust D and yet it brought a fresh wave of singing and melodies, once again proving the man’s production genius. This song is so reminiscent in it’s lyrics and still so real, its my favorite off the record.Other songs I loved : People, Deachwita and What do you think? (i DID love the complete mixtape though).

Yes, I watched  I-LAND. Given-Taken was a better debut then I expected at first. 10 months (the chorus and beat) and Flicker off their debut album were also played a lot. 

I just want to stay with you by Zion.T

The King: Eternal Monarch was a much awaited drama for a lot of people and it’s OST is one of the best ones this year. Zion.T’s amazing vocals really did an amazing job of expressing the love in the story. Other songs I really liked from this album were Gravity by Kim Jong Wan and the Hydrangea Instrumental by Lee Geon Yeong.

H1GHER: RED TAPE is my hype album of the year. All artists involved did an amazing job. Seriously, get yourself some bomb ass beats, as a treat. Other loved tracks : Telefono Remix (Woodie Gochild is great at his flavour of delivery), Closed Case and The Arrival.

Soul by Lay (zhang yixing)

Yixing’s album LIT was his best project till date, no arguments. He’s really evolved into such a refined musician, especially with how well he merges traditional chinese instruments into Hip Hop/RnB beats and I adore the vibe of this album. Although the album is great entirely, Soul is my favourite for how softly and prettily it flows. Other loved tracks: Eagle (the BEAT), Fly, Boom (bops on bops on BOPS) and Call My Name.

100 ways by Jackson Wang

It is astounding how well Jackson has formed his own style of music ever since starting off with Papillon. He’s also sort of come into himself as an artist and it has birthed some great music. Other loved tracks : Pretty Please (i love the vibe of the song!) and Should’ve Let Go (ft. JJ Lin).

SUGA’s interlude by Halsey 

Idk how else to explain it but Halsey and Yoongi have great music synergy. There’s something about their song/lyric writing that matches very well and needless to say, I adore the song. Blueberry eyes by MAX is also another great Yoongi collab.

In Your Time by Lee Suhyun

It’s Okay to not be Okay had an OST that was dreamy, gritty and very fairytale-esque, much like the drama itself. Among a bunch of great songs, this one is my favourite. Other loved songs: You’re Cold by Heize (always delivers!), Breath by Sam Kim (OST angel), Hallelujah by Kim Feel (chills!), In Silence by Janet Suhh (literally how angelic is her tone??), I’m your Psycho by Janet Suhh (it’s creepy in a dreamy way) and Brother | Her World | Through the dark Tunnel of time | Butterfly - all amazing instrumentals by Nam Hye Seung and Park Sang Hee (seriously, go listen to the album).

Another great discovery towards the end of the Year, Junny has vocals for DAYS and admirable delivery. Other loved songs: AURA ft. pH-1, edge (this is so hypnotising in it’s beauty) and I will. Please feel welcome to educate me more about this artist!!

NCT always provides bops and NCT U is my favourite sub-unit, for their unique style of music, so when they came out with this song I was ready and they delivered! Most Played : 90’s Love  (the old boy band theme was so well done), From Home (i’m a sucker for slow songs), Nectar (yes, i adore WayV’s music), MAD DOG by NCT 127 and Kick It by NCT 127 (this is the flavour of NCT i LOVE).

Zombie by Day6

Day6 has always been in my daily otations and as always, they put out good music after good music. I loved both the original Korean and the English versions of this song (they do rock well, what else is there to say?). Other loved songs : Tick Tock (oh the vocals, the way the beat moves!), Love me or Leave me, Day and Night... actually the whole Album is great, go listen to ‘The Book of us: The Demon’.

Fearless by Ma Di [other chinese songs]

Chinese songs have been a surprisingly pleasant addition to my daily rotation. Fearless from the “Go Ahead” OST takes the top stop because of how well it embodies the struggles of stepping into adulthood, the melody and MaDi’s amazing vocals. Other Chinese songs I loved: Praise for Red Plum Blossoms by Xiao Zhan (the perfect welcoming of spring paired with  such expressive vocals), Remaining Years by Xiao Zhan (Joy of Life OST) and his OST for the Oath of Love.

ugh didn’t mean to have the whole post under a tag i hate tumblr

ooo dope thank you! so i mean i def find korean shamanism super interesting both in terms of fortune telling/mediums as well as just culturally. it always gets me thinking because, while i don’t particularly believe in clairvoyance or psychics, i do think there is something about being sensitive to less tangible things, being able to read people well, and generally being open to receiving and feeling out energies. and i certainly think things like shamanism kind of represent that, regardless of someone’s beliefs. i also always think that when you’re doing readings like how they do them where they’re very specific and predictive, you can try and get as specific as possible in any type of reading, but essentially what you’re working off of is far less tangible and more up for interpretation. so seeing this, even as i’m disagreeing with things, i’m thinking that maybe the things they’re noticing are valid in and of themselves even if i don’t agree with the interpretation. 

i thought them saying how cheol helps make the group work well made a lot of sense, i thought that was a very specific and accurate dynamic they picked up on.

i also love how they mentioned that jeonghan as a very soft and gentle aura but is incredibly determined and stubborn.

also the concept of him just following opinions felt incredibly relevant, and something i haven’t really gotten into in my readings but we kind of caught a glimpse into in the mbti episode and is generally very relevant for libras. he’s very divisive and assertive with certain things, but ultimately is so sensitive to others that he’s far more yielding and impressionable than i think he gives the impression of. 

i thought it was so interesting that they compared joshua to cheol, especially given both of their cap influences. picking up on joshua being more meticulous felt super on point as well.

ok, so i used to be active on this wattpad-esque website and a mutual made a fic about them that i read, despite knowing nothing about them. later that summer me and my little sister were wandering around on youtube at our grandparents house, where i saw Don’t Wanna Cry on the homepage and, recognizing the band from the fic, i clicked. then we watched Boom Boom, and then i looped that mother heckin video for the next six hours

3. First impression of SEVENTEEN?

oh god, it’s been so long idk if i remember quite right. i think i thought they were a bunch of talented nerds tbh; even back then i remember being really impressed by the choreography

4. How long did it take to memorize names and faces?

well i wasn’t working on it constantly, just sort of whenever posts ran across my tumblr dash, but i’d say by the end of about a month i had most of them down consistently
